About this docked boat rental
Newport has always been a vacation destination. While the City by the sea offers a host of accommodations, why not make this vacation a unique experience with your very own home on the water aboard the Lilypad, a charming, spacious houseboat moored in beautiful Newport Harbor. You can't get much closer to the sea unless you are a fish!
Start your day with a fresh cup of coffee while taking in the view of the harbor through the broad windows that offer a constant changing seascape. Swim in the refreshing salt water off of Lilypads deck. Stretch out and relax in the sun on the spacious top deck, then as early evening arrives enjoy a sunset drink as the sky turns a dusky pink or with any luck "red sky at night sailors delight". If you want to take in the action in downtown Newport , no need to drive, Lilypad offers free water taxi service to down town and back to the houseboat, just minutes away. So you can enjoy the evening without worry of traffic and who will be the designated driver. An added bonus is the water taxi across the harbor gets you up and close to many of the magnificent yachts, both sail and power, and under a full moon it can't be beat. Or if peace is what your soul craves, just relax with a book aboard the Lilypad, pausing to glance up at various sailboats that make their way to a day of sailing at sea.
If you book the Lilypad July 4th week. You will have front row and top deck seating on board to view Newport's fantastic display of ceremonial fireworks under the stars! For the music enthusiasts the Newport Folk and Jazz festivals are some of the best in the world. Which are held at Historical Fort Adams State Park. Lilypad is moored next to Fort Adams. The water taxi runs by the hour and rate is $4.00 per person per ride. It will pick up you and your guests from the Lilypad bring you to the festivals, downtown and back to the Lilypad.
Of course, this being a houseboat, you need to be mindful of services we take for granted on land. Be conscious of your water consumption, become friendly with on board generator when running various appliances... but all this your affable hostess Danielle will explain when she greets you on board and is just a phone call away.
Make your next trip to Newport an adventure to remember, every resort offers hotel accommodations, but how often do you get to live on a houseboat?
Feel free to bring your own provisions and cook on board. If you prefer not to cook we can provide catering/provisioning for small intimate dinners, birthday and cocktail parties!
There is a charming boating community within the marina. Filled with classic sailboats and powerboats of all sizes. While staying onboard during this time period you will have access to a indoor, heated pool and sauna. You will also be in walking distance to great restaurants, stylish boutiques and historical landmarks. Enjoy the views from Lilypads upper deck of Newport Harbor and the colorful sunsets of the cooler season. There are a lot of festivals and events to enjoy during the fall and winter months and the city by the sea is beautifully decorated for the holiday season.

Fantastic one night stay for our little family. An experience we will remember! Beautiful, clean boat and fantastic hostess, Danielle, made it a fun time! Loved taking the water taxi into Newport in the evening as well.

Newport from a boat is an extraordinary experience !!!!!
I was next to boats preparing of a race. I watched children learning to sail.
The moon and the setting sun looked entirely new from the perspective of a boat. It was extraordinary
I was well prepared by my host for things one does on a boat- use of a generator, proper boat etiquette which made me feel like I was being initiated into a culture and experience that has an irresistible pull. I know now why people sail and do so much just to be on the water.
It is the first great sleep I have had in years- rocked by the waves in the arms of a sea breeze,
The hospitality of the host is a big part of the experience- and I imagine part of boating culture. People help each other and make themselves available to work through whatever comes up.

I've been coming to Newport every summer and this was my first time staying on a houseboat. The Lilypad offers a serene escape from the hustle & bustle and yet it is only a 10 minute ride on the water taxi to get to downtown. We enjoyed the commute through the harbor and appreciated our solitude away from the crowds at night. You will catch the most amazing sunrise over the water! Danielle is a gracious hostess who will ensure that the client is satisfied!

We enjoyed visiting Newport this way. The rustic nature of the boat was both fun and challenging. If you’re not ready to live on a boat (ie start a generator, limit water, and potentially have only cold water); this might not be for you. We loved the view and enjoyed the two days.

We had a lovely time, and the host was very attentive and accessible. It was great location with easy access to downtown via water taxi.

Such a fun little adventure to spend a night on a houseboat in Newport Harbor. Everything was as expected and very clean and comfortable. Danielle’s communication and availability was amazing!!

I surprised my wife (who grew up boating) with this stay for our anniversary weekend, and it exceeded all of our expectations. For anybody that’s never stayed on board a boat overnight, it is a bit like “glamping” (RV camping). All of the creature comforts are there (bed, running water, cookware and ample comfy seating), with a few challenges to make the stay more interesting (generator power, no heat, limited water supply… all things to be considered as part of the experience).
The boat was incredibly clean (excepting that the local birds make a home of the dock) and welcoming upon arrival, and Danielle met us personally to make sure that we were comfortable and well prepared for our stay.
The outdoor temperature dipped below 50 degrees at night, but we came prepared with a few extra blankets knowing that would be the case. The interior never dropped fully to those levels, and was comfortable shelter from the wind.
There was ample wind during our stay (Newport harbor is known for its sailing), but the boat’s sturdy base didn’t rock much at all. The sounds of the waves and attached dock interacting was melodic and soothing throughout our stay!
We brought our kayaks and launched from the nearby beach at Fort Adam’s park. We had thought that this would be our primary transportation, but the Old Port water taxi proved to be far easier and more accommodating than we’d expected. Each skipper we met was so pleasant and helpful as we explored the area.

The Lilypad was the perfect spot for some friends and I to stay at for the Newport Craft Brew 5k. Danielle was very flexible with check in, and explained everything about how the boat works very clearly. The houseboat was clean and had unrivaled views of the marina, as well as being the perfect spot to relax and see the stars at night. The water taxi was also very easy to use to take us either to Fort Adams or into town. We had a fantastic time, and would definitely stay again!

We stayed at the Lily Pad for the 4th of July holiday. Danielle met us and showed us around. This is a great way to spend a few days, particularly if you like swimming and fishing. The views were beautiful! Because the houseboat is not located on the shore, you need to plan around a water taxi to get to and from the Lilypad. We would definitely come back again!

Our stay on the Lily Pad was fantastic and so relaxing!!! All communication with Danielle was excellent - very responsive and helpful! The water taxi service was also great - just give a call for pick up and they'll be there.
For those that love the water and want a great escape, the Lily Pad is the place!!

It’s a lot like glamping on water for those who like to sleep and relax with the gentle rocking of the boat.
The houseboat was adorable and much cooler than being on land with it’s cross ventilation. We had an excellent view if the water and boats, enjoying views from the top deck and eater taxi.
Danielle is a super responsive host, responding quickly to questions and walking us through how all the equipment worked.

From start to finish of our experience was amazing! The accommodations are everything you need for the boating experience. Our views from the upper deck stretched for miles. We are a guarantee to be returning for our next adventure to the Lilypad

Much needed peace!
I was pleasantly surprised at the relaxation and contentment we found on the waterlily. Danielle went above and beyond to keep us happy even when there were issues with water pressure.
The only thing I wouldve loved was maybe a private way to just traversing the bay without using the taxi. Other than that, lovvvvvved it 100%

Long Anniversary Weekend
My husband and I stayed on the Lilypad for a long Weekend away to celebrate our anniversary. It was an amazing time and a unique experience all-in-one. Danielle was an awesome host - answered all of my questions, recommended private transportation & restaurants, and explained everything on the boat at check-in. The water taxi is easy to use and plan around. Just remember you are on a boat-the shower is small, electricity requires a generator, and the boat will rock! But it’s totally worth the experience and the views on the top deck. You won’t be disappointed.

The best ever!
This was the perfect weekend retreat! Lilypad felt like home the minute we stepped on board. We enjoyed the time on the boat and loved the water taxi into town. This was truly the most unique way to experience Newport. Danielle was an amazing host. Not sure we would ever stay anywhere else when we are in Newport!

Amazing Get Away
The Lilypad is a great place to go to get away from it all. Since we aren't from the area, we planned to do a lot of site seeing in Newport, but ended up staying on the Lilypad our entire trip. It was way more fun boat "camping" than being out in the busy streets. This truly is a vacation spot that doesn't need any of the other sites and activities of Newport to recommend it. Getting to/from sore using the boat taxi was easy and our host made sure we understood everything necessary about boat life before leaving us after check it. We spent a lot of time jumping off the dock, floating in tubes alongside the boat, swimming, and lounging on the top deck. We would highly recommend the Lilypad for anyone looking to get away and enjoy some quality time away from technology and business.

Great weekend getaway
Our host, Danielle, was very nice and helpful in assisting us. The location was absolutely fantastic, the views of the harbor were perfect. The water taxi was easy once you get the hang of it being on the hour. However, lily pad is a little dated but clean. Could use some tlc.

A perfect 4 night getaway!
My husband and I ( like the rest of the world) needed a much needed break from “ real life” and spent 4 nights on the lily pad last week. Everything was perfect! Danielle has thought of everything to make her guests comfortable while staying on her little slice of heaven. From checking in, to her check in’s on us to make sure that we didn’t need anything and her recommendations of things to do and see while we were there she was such a great host. Be sure to bring floats with you to just relax and float in the water. We spent one day not leaving the boat, just sunning on the top deck, swimming and floating, and cooking dinner in! We couldn’t say enough great things about our stay, and are ready to book for next year!

Unreal experience
We had an amazing time on lily pad. I highly suggest it to whoever is looking to stay in Newport. Danielle was a great host and very accommodating. The water taxi was very convenient. The only thing I regret is not staying longer. We spent four nights on board and it went by in a flash.

What a Stay!!
I was so excited to stay on this houseboat because I wanted an ocean view to stay near the ocean and I knew it was probably going to be impossible until we found the listing for the lily pad! It was very easy to book Danielle as an owner was excellent she was very welcoming just really great! She showed us around the boat the do's and don't and it was wonderful! The top deck was beautiful the views were just gorgeous I couldn't have asked for a better stay at lily pad! The only thing that was not great was the furniture on the upper deck, they really needed to be updated and changed they were flat so you really could not have enjoyed sitting up there it's a really quick fix just to get new cushions in and there were a couple of chaise lounges that had no pads so it was very uncomfortable sitting up on the top deck I wish the seating had been better it was kind of disappointing. It was a true getaway no TV which was amazing you needed to run the generator if you want to power to run the lights charge your cell phone which it was very easy to do! Parking was easy we left our car right near the last dock and we called a water taxi they came over drop stuff off . For $6 a couple we use the water taxi to get to and from Newport! There was a hand held radio to contact the taxi! it was awesome and we got a beautiful ride throughout the harbor and seeing all the different kind of boats it was really really nice! You certainly did not need an AC on the boat the breeze was amazing we left the windows all the doors open all day and night! it was just so comfortable the bed was really comfy! There was no frig so you had to bring your own ice for drinks and perishables! Would my husband and I go back absolutely it was well worth the trip enjoyed it very much⚓🌝😀

Fantastic place to stay near Fort Adams!
I stayed on the Lilypad with a couple friends to attend the Craft Brew 5K at Fort Adams and it was the perfect location to do so. The launch service is very convenient, and the Lilypad is also close enough to shore that we decided to swim to and from our race to beat the heat. Everything was clean and Danielle was very thorough in explaining to us how everything worked. Also can confirm that even without AC you stay perfectly comfortable; we were there on a weekend with a severe heat warning and heat index of 105 but the breezes over the water kept us plenty cool. The views are also tough to beat, overall would highly recommend and would certainly stay again!

Worst experience ever!!!! From start to finish this get away was horrible!
The water taxi is very inconvenient especially when the owner was told some time ago that the antenna was broken on the intercom so when you called for a ride you could not hear them! The boat was filthy and the linens were dirty and spelt like mold! The pull out bed was a joke and very uncomfortable. The appliances were filthy..the coffee maker had grounds left in it from previous people. We absolutely could not wait to get out of there! We were there 12 hours instead of 3 days and left. As of today..the owner who said she would refund me over a month ago still has not. I would never recommend this boat to anyone I know because we like clean..spacious & nice smelling accommodations not filth. The pictures posted online of the boat look clean..not the case when you arrive!! Dont waste your time or $$$ on this rental.

Great location. Beautiful view of the Harbor
The Lily Pad was a pleasant experience. We had gorgeous weather. The location of the lily pad near Fort Adams was more peaceful than other parts of the harbor. The view was spectacular. The water taxis only cost $3 to take you to Newport Harbor at the bottom of the hour. The negatives for us was getting our belongings on and off the boat - checking in and out. We would have appreciated a private launch to help us with that and not the water taxi on his regular route with time restraints. Since there is no refrigeration it would have been very helpful if the owner had supplied adequate ice every day since it was very hot and we went through a lot of ice trying to keep our food from spoiling. Remember to bring extra batteries for your cell phone because there are no outlets to charge them without turning the generator on.
We brought our Kayak which was great fun especially in the early morning when the water was calm and it was cooler. I can't say enough about the location and beautiful harbor - especially with the full moon that we had every night. We were blessed with perfect weather.

Great family adventure on the water!
I stayed on the Lilypad with my daughters ages 16, 14, 10 for our annual week in
Newport. We have never stayed on any type of boat before and we loved it! Sunning on the roof, jumping off the back, and paddling around with the paddle boards and floats we brought made for a fun and new type of vacation for us.
The only negative is getting ashore. We do like to do a variety of activities in Newport like going to the beaches, mansions, and restaurants. Having to time ourselves to the hourly taxi boat schedule and pay for 4 people each way was a bit cumbersome and pricey. Instead we often just did the quick paddle to the dock on our paddle boards to get to my car - or we jumped in and swam!
It made for a really fun adventure though and Danielle was a fantastic host! The boat and accommodations were beautiful and waking up on the water is incredible.
We would definitely recommend it!

Lily Pad didn't disappoint
If you have never stayed on a houseboat - you need to do it & Lily Pad should be your choice when in Newport, RI! Very comfortably appointed & well cared for. We spent a few days enjoying Newport to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary.
Danielle was very helpful acclimating us to how to manage the boat for battery; water & generator. She checked in on us to make sure we were set & was great to deal with to get prepared for our visit.
Weather was perfect except for the last day where it was tough to get a water taxi to leave. There's so much to do in the area or you can just hang out watching boats go by. Definitely add this to your bucket list ...

1st time in Newport & house boat experience!
We decided to go to Newport for our 15th wedding anniversary and LOVED staying on The Lilypad House boat!!! Danielle was wonderful and told us everything we needed to know to live on the boat for the 2 night stay. The views where spectacular, the accommodations where homey and clean, the water taxi was so easy, meeting locals and seeing beautiful boats up close was an awesome experience, the roof deck views was one of our favorite things to do. Overall, we will be back and will tell many people of the wonderful Lilypad!!

Girlfriends' getaway on the Lilypad!
We really enjoyed our time on the Lilypad -- the cool breezes, the refreshing water, the sunny upper deck -- it was an experience like none other! The harbor views were amazing, and the houseboat was well-equipped and perfectly maintained. Danielle explained to us how everything worked, so all we had to do was sit back and relax.

A wonderful experience! Highly recommend!!
My fiance and I stayed at the Lily Pad over the weekend. We had plans to go see the mansions, instead we were so enamored by the scenery, we only left to eat dinner and get odds and ends at the local boutiques. If you have never slept on a boat, I highly recommend it. The harbor is absolutely breath taking. The water is clean and serene. Danielle is so sweet and you can sense how much the Lily Pad means to her. I give the entire experience 5 stars! You won't be disappointed. I read other reviews prior to booking and my biggest concern was our privacy, air conditioning and tv.
What I can say is that we felt like we were on an oasis. My only encounter with the neighboring boats was waving to them while they were driving by half a mile away.
There wasn't any air conditioning, but none was needed. My fiancé and I wore sweat shirts in mid August. It was chilly at night & with the harbors cool breeze, you definitely don't need ac.
The tv, I can live without tv, my fiance brought his laptop and watched about 10 minutes of a movie. The action was on the harbor, in the sky and the comedy was in his company. All we needed was a weekend together, work free. Lily Pad is truly a gem. I highly recommend staying here rather than a hotel any day!!
Book and enjoy! Our memories will last a lifetime.

Best trip we've ever had! ☘
The lilypad was our home away from home for 5 days & what better way for us to spend our July 4th weekend than on the water!! No one knew what to expect- which was the best part of the trip! Our expectations were exceeded-it was PERFECT from start to finish. We arrived a little later than others but Jp was a gem in the water taxi, Danielle checked in to make sure all was good, we arrived mid storm and the show we got with all the windows was magic! We sat played cards, had some beers sat on deck listened to the rain & watched the Lightning! Loved it!
My boyfriend and I along with two friends who are a couple, stayed on board with us & after that one down pour we had crackin weather for the rest of the week-lilypad was perfect for our trip, we had access to the water taxi almost instantly when we called- we had perfect space for the four of us & the water was never an issue we were good for three days until we needed a refill. If your looking for a break away from the norm this is the place to be, I cannot recommend it more- we have everyone told to go up and stay with Danielle-no point staying in a hotel room when you can stay on a boat - hotels you've got to leave to do something- we didn't have to do anything- it was all there for us! We spent the majority of our time on board with fishing rods,we brought ourselves, we went swimming- having a couple of cold beers and sitting on the top deck reading a book soaking up the sun! Headed out on the zodiac to go for a walk around fort Adams state park. That was the best part, i don't think we will stay in a hotel again after our experience it was the best we've ever had in the states & we cannot wait to get back again next year!! Danielle you were a great hostess, add us right at home
From start to finish -I am so glad To have come across your lilypad she is a gem to have & anyone who doesn't stay is missing out! Roll on next summer so we can have our first family holiday with you and start our tradition on board the lilypad and the wonderful neighbours up there!! 🙌🏽☘ we love it!
