About this house rental

OceanSong is an upscale beach house on the south end of Plum Island. It’s just 140 steps to an uncrowded, sandy ocean beach and a five minute walk to the National Wildlife Refuge. Island restaurants are in walking distance and Newburyport’s quaint shops, restaurants and nightlife are four miles away.

The beach house has walkout sliders to decks on three sides and an outside shower. The interior is set in a white and natural oak motif with hardwood floors, tide clock, charts and recessed lighting to create an upscale, beachy feel. The main level features an open living room and dining area, kitchen, two bedrooms, two baths and a sunroom. The second level sports a loft and bedroom with skylights. The third level is a lookout.

OceanSong is designed as a comfortable place to relax and enjoy a beach vacation. It comes with everything from linens to wine glasses. It’s great for a family or couples. Come and have a great vacation!

The property was as advertised. Very clean, had everything stocked that you might need. It provided a great base for some family time and visits into Boston to visit friends. Richard is so easy to work with. We really enjoyed our time at OceanSong and on Plum Island.

Great location to beaches and the town of Newburyport for shopping. Just relaxing and sitting out on the deck. Richard is a nice host, he explains everything to you. This was our 3rd time here I believe and we'll return again.

We had to book an emergency family visit due to an illness in the family. The owner was wonderful - immediately communicative and accommodating. The house is very cute - very clean. Stocked with a lot of amenities and in a wonderful location with ocean views. The experience was easy and truly - gave me a little faith in the Universe to have the owner be so gracious and helpful in a time of crisis. 5-STARS!!!

Very comfortable. Short walk to beach and very close to Parker River Wildlife Refuge. Well stocked kitchen and extremely helfpul and friendly owner. Would definitely stay again.

Oceansong was a great house with wonderful views, especially from the skyloft. The house suited our needs perfectly and was in a great location. We look forward to staying there again next year. Richard was in constant contact with us for anything we needed and accommodated us on our very late arrival.

Richard was so helpful at check in and made sure we knew where everything was. The house is stocked with everything you need. I only stayed one night, and my adult kids stayed on night 2, but we all had a nice stay!

We had a lovely stay in Ocean Song and the location could not have been better. The house itself is older and had many nooks and crannies. Richard , the lovely owner, greeted us on arrival and went through how the house runs. If you are looking for a basic beach house without a lot of frills look no further. It had everything we needed and the town was very walkable. We will be back.

This is a comfortable, no frills beach home with the best of two worlds, the unrivaled, natural Atlantic beach a few steps away & the historic towns of Newbury/Newburyport a short drive away, with plenty of shopping & restaurants. The kitchen is completely equipped for all cooking/baking projects, the living area well worn & comfortable, and the neighborhood lovely & quiet. The owner, Richard, is nearby & personally invested in this unique property, which should be treated as your own. Most enjoyable!

Perfect for a little getaway! Owner was wonderful and great communication. House was clean and comfortable, easy walk to sand beach. Decor is a little dated but house was spacious and comfortable with a great location. We all really enjoyed our stay!

Loved this cottage. Clean, sunny, spacious, fully stocked kitchen, plenty of towels and bedding. Richard was a very gracious and accommodating host. Just a 1 minute walk to the beach. Would definitely return.

Beautiful house, Richard was a great host, and area is very fun! The house was clean and well kept. Just steps from the beach and the Refuge is just a short walk away. We even saw a piping plover in the refuge. Comfortable beds, nicely stocked kitchen, and a great living space. Very welcoming. Highly recommend this spot. Thanks!

The host Richard was very keen/eager to show me around when I arrived from Vermont. [We rented two houses on Plum Island for a family wedding.] He reminded us that there were only six people allowed to stay there and only three parking spaces--which, of course, was not an issue for us as we had arranged for two separate houses. The place is very clean, tidy and comfortable; however, we were responsible for making the beds ourselves. The location is ideal--just a short walk to the beautiful beach.

Spent the weekend with friends. Had an amazing time. Richard is so nice and went over everything about the house. The house was equipped with everything you need … towels, toiletries, coffee, sugar, spices , glassware etc! The area is beautiful!!

We visited Ocean Song a couple years ago from California and enjoyed it so much we wanted to do it again!! We loved his charming house and again had a wonderful time on winter on the beach. So peaceful. And you can’t ask for a better host. I highly recommend it!!!

We enjoy visiting plum island a couple times a year. Oceansong is close to the beach and walking to Mad Martha's for breakfast is fun. Richard greets you and let's you know everything about the house. This was our 2nd time there and we would stay here again.

My friends and I had a wonderful stay at Oceansong. Richard made sure we were checked in thoroughly and didn't have any questions about the property. The location is fantastic, just steps from the beach and down the road from the wildlife preserve. Highly recommend!

We were three adult friends who wanted a break from daily city life. What could be more fun than a seaside town off-season. It was late October 2021. Our visit of 2 nights unintentionally coincided with a nor'easter, with rain and high winds. We had a great time! The host, Richard Gandt, was most kind and gracious and went out of his way to see that we were ok, given the unusual weather conditions. The house was spacious, very clean, very comfortable and well-equipped, with lots of windows (tho surrounded by other houses). I particularly liked that there were nooks of privacy, so people could be doing different things and not running into each other. We were 50 feet from the ocean. Fortunately, we had times of decent weather and were able to walk and drive some of the beach and the famous Parker Wildlife Refuge nearby. Market provisions and seaside dining places were very accessible, within 5 minute drive. We all left with a desire to return, and with no regrets about coming during a time when anyone - in their right mind - would have stayed home. But this is travel during a time of climate change.
