The location was great, although construction in the area could be heard. The staff are all wonderful and made the stay very pleasant. The staff was accommodating and friendly. The small restaurant on the side was delicious, and the staff there were equally friendly. I only had my room clean once, but they were quick and efficient.
The noise in the morning was not ideal if you're looking to sleep in or planning on going out the night before. It usually starts around 8am. There is also no elevator, so carrying your bag up and down the stairs is task. Depending how much you pack :)

Rooms on the bottom level are prison cells: no windows, no space at all. Bed bugs: my legs were destroyed and hurt and itched for a week. Just because I complained with Booking directly I was moved to a nice room for the second night. I was also moved to a third level prison cell the first day. Had to repack each day. Price not in line with neighbor hotels/hostels. I was tricked by the good looking photos.

The hotel had breakfast and rooftop bar available.
The hotel did not have AC and the room was very hot and humid. Also stairs were located right by the room so it was very loud. You could hear everything. Room was very small and not equipped to sleep 2 people.

Hot Breakfast was delicious, location is amazing felt safe and close to everything, the staff was so nice, helpful and corteus.
The rooms are so tiny if you put your luggage down you don’t have room to walk 😄 didn’t bother us much cause we were barely in the room.

The location is great.
They shouldn't advertise a room as double with a patio when in reality it's a tiny room with no windows. Extremely disappointed.

The staff! I have the advantage of being a fluent speaker of Spanish and the staff felt like family after awhile. It's the first hotel I felt sorry about leaving, I felt I was leaving behind friends, not hotel staff. Since there were people from various countries there, the common language is English. The owner is a tall, delightful polyglot German man: he speaks fluent English & Spanish besides his native German and something else. He is usually on site and is really friendly and personable. The restaurant on site serves typical Colombian food. But on the one, small city block that La Martina is on (and is walkable for even the most out-of- shape individual) there are four restaurants across the narrow one-way street, and to the right of La Martina there are at least three to 5 more restaurants. This is an ideal location. There are even MORE RESTAURANTS on parallel and perpendicular streets. Also, it's in a FLAT section of Medellin. Medellín is a city of steep hills where some sidewalks are actually concrete stairs. The section of Medellin it is in is called El Poblado, which is further subdivided into neighborhoods. La Martina is in the neighborhood of Manila which is adjacent to another delightful leafy, shady neighborhood of Laureles. This is a flat area of the city and easily walked with everything close by. I walked to a nearby pharmacy to pick up some sun blocker before a tour that I knew would be quite sunny. Keep in mind I am in my mid-late 60s and out of shape, but it was a delightful experience walking the small, intimate neighborhoods. La Martina is open air. Of course everything is covered so that nothing is rained upon, but the reception lobby, restaurant, bar and hallways on one side are open air. I ❤️ this since most hotels are steel and glass boxes.
At the time I was there, they were short of staff, which affected service. I had to ask to have the bar opened in the evenings (a delightful open air bar called the "Rooftop" on the rooftop with bar, intimate small tables, superior sound system, and a hot tub or jacuzzi. The view of the city and mountains is utterly spectacular). There was only one young man who had to function as a waiter in the open air restaurant downstairs, AND the bartender upstairs. On two occasions I waited 50+ minutes for him to be free to go upstairs. The last time, he was breathless from running up the stairs. If you're not a drinker, this is no problem, but I was on vacation and wanted some Cuba Libres with the delightfully smooth and soft Colombian rum, Ron Viejo de Caldas. There is no elevator since it's only four storeys high, but I'm out-of-shape and in my mid-late 60s and had no problems despite the altitude. But the staff more than made up for the deficiencies. They became like family.
