About this chalet rental
The LOFT is a unique private large 690 s.f. modern cabin like structure with great forest and garden views and access to our own private beach on this clean beautiful mountain lake, GOOSE POND. The area is spectacular.
LOCATION
The loft/lake are a short drive from Exit 10 of MA Pike in a countryside lake setting, near all of the cultural offerings that the BERKSHIRES has to offer: Tanglewood, Berkshire Theatre Festival, Shakespear and Co., Norman Rockwell Museum, Jacob's Pillow, Naumkeg, Kripalu, just to mention a few. Fantastic boutique shopping and great cafes are pleasant destinations in area towns. Fall is beautiful here. There remains a lot to do too.
LOFT
The LOFT is a stand alone structure behind the owner's house.. It has a thoughtful, comfortable floor plan. All of our previous guests have commented that the Loft is much bigger than it appears in pictures, that it exceeded their expectations and is much more charming than any of the pictures depict it. There are designated areas in this open floor plan: bedroom area with a king bed, a kitchenette area equipped with small appliances and retro refrigerator, a dining area, a great living room area complete with a freestanding gas stove and a futon , a single bed situated privately in a raised alcove accessed by a 3'ship's ladder and a good sized bathroom with a generous sized shower. The Loft has an outdoor grill with a side burner on the large private back deck in the woods, internet, air conditioning and both the back deck and front deck are accessed by glass French Doors which let in all the light and brings the outdoors in.
LAKE
The walk down a tree lined path reveals a large flat lawn that borders the shorefront/beach of our beautiful lake.. There is a dock for hanging out in one of many zero gravity chairs, doing yoga with water surrounding you or fishing. Relax on the lawn in one of our unique Steamer Chairs. The swimming in this gorgeous, clean lake from our sandy beach is beyond compare. Kayak (5 available for use along with vests), take in the scenery and watch for the eagles and great blue herons at owners' private lakefront on Goose Pond, a large very clean and beautiful 270 acre lake of which the majority is in preservation. There are bocci and cornhole as well as indoor games.
HIKING
Hike around the top end of the upper lake or into the infamous Tyringham Valley on the nearby Appalachian Trail. There are many hiking opportunities surrounding us.
There are many great restaurants in the area.

The early summer and fall are also perfect times to visit the Loft and the Berkshires in general. The area is quieter and the scenery is spectacular. Fall foliage on the lake is something not to be misted and the free standing gas stove makes the evenings in the Loft cozy and contributes to a warm and inviting atmosphere. Cultural opportunities are offered year long. Come and enjoy!

This small loft has all the essentials; for us the location is everything. We love Goose Pond and Upper Goose for swimming, paddling and fishing. Our host wrote the book about land use history - yet is very humble. We felt very welcome!

We LOVED our time at Goose Pond - the Loft was so artfully designed with everything we could possibly need or want. Our hosts were so kind, gracious, and helpful. We enjoyed our time immensely, from kayaking to hiking to seeing Shakespeare in nearby Lenox. It was a perfect weekend getaway spot and we hope to return again and again!

Gail and Tim were fantastic hosts and the loft was perfect for me and my husband. The lake is beautiful, and it was such a peaceful, restful vacation. Tons to do with Tanglewoid right there, great restaurants and lots if time to read and relax. Can't wait to go back

Beautiful, peaceful location on a pristine lake, it is also convenient for visiting the southern Berkshires. The loft is cozy, well organized and immaculate. The hosts are lovely and very welcoming. One highlight was kayaking on Goose Pond shortly before sunset. Highly recommended!

A birthday celebration for two nights in an adorable cottage. Everything you could want soft robes, great towels , comfy bed , coffee pot a refrig a porch very well stocked. Gail and Tim are wonderful hosts !!!!

Booked this as a two night stay around a Saturday show at Tanglewood. Easy check-in and check-out. Easy ride in and out of Lennox. We were too busy exploring the area to use the lake, but the lake looked lovely and would have been a great added bonus.
It is bigger than it appears, was just right for parents with our college age daughter. There was room for a fourth, but that might have felt a bit more on top of one another.
Isabella, the dog, was my daughter';s favorite thing about the whole trip.

Comparing other properties this one is a clear winner. On site homeowners were wonderful. The setting is magical. Price is perfect. Its a unique property which had plenty of room for myself and my friends family of 4, although there is no formal bedroom. The Lake is a Berkshire hidden gem and one of the cleanest in the state. Ample fishing, with catch and release as always. Lots of room to relax wherever despite the size. Just a great spot for a getaway or a family. Will definitely be back. Thank you to the owners! Well done!

The loft is absolutely perfect! Tim and Gail built it themselves and added so many amazing architectural details, like a bannister made from a sailboat mast. The loft is incredibly cozy with everything you could think to need.
The lake is gorgeous, with an upper part you can kayak to that is part of a national park and has no houses on it. Gail and Tim had four single kayaks, one double kayak, a canoe, and a hydrobike that they were kind enough to let us use. We had so much fun kayaking and swimming every day. On our last night, Tim even made us a campfire. I would highly recommend staying here.

My wife and I booked a weekend stay at The Loft to celebrate our anniversary (sans kids). We had such a wonderful time. Gail and Tim were extremely welcoming and went to great lengths to make sure we were comfortable and had all we needed. The property was clean, cozy, well maintained, and located on a pristine lake. We will definitely be coming back. Thanks to Gail and Tim for a lovely weekend away!

After exhausting ourselves with the cities of New York, Newport, Boston and others, it was perfect to be able to slow down, catch our breath and enjoy the beauty of the area.

The loft was the perfect place for my friend and I to have a relaxing girls weekend! The property was amazing! Steps away from a beautiful lake where we were able to go kayaking, relax by the water, and enjoy a fire in the evening! The loft itself was perfect - had so much character and plenty of space for two adults; great atmosphere all around!
The location is perfect as well! Close to many hiking trails and a little downtown area with shops and restaurants.
Tim and Gail were terrific hosts! They thought of everything guests would need when staying in the loft! They even built my friend and I a fire in the outdoor fire pit one evening. They were very responsive when communicating before the trip and available during our stay.

First of all, this loft is in the perfect location. The lake is beautiful, and the hosts take great pride in their property- and wanted to make sure we felt like we were at home. The Loft was perfect for what we were looking for- relaxation, a home base for some Berkshire adventures, and a home away from home. Tim, Gail, and Isabelle were welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. What a great place for our girls weekend! Thank you both so much!

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised how nice this cozy loft was. And it was exactly that. In a perfect place for R&R or if you wanted to do outdoor adventures. Gail and Tim were wonderful hosts. And their dog Isabella greeted us as well. Tim came right out upon our arrival and showed us where everything was and how it worked.

The loft was simply perfect. Incredibly well appointed with a fully stocked kitchen, loads of towels, comfy bed and spotless. The location was incredibly convenient but also felt like we were 'away'. The shared property on the lake, with dock and access to kayaks, etc. was so pretty and Gail and Tim were exceptional hosts and generous. We'll be back!

The loft space is cozy and comfortable, uniquely designed and very clean. The pond is everything you could want! Gorgeous and crystal clear. Gail is a wonderful host, and very generous with use of the space. I loved kayaking, hydro-biking, swimming, and relaxing in the loft. Looking forward to returning soon.

We loved our stay at Goose Pond. The location was great for beaching, swimming and kayaking, and Gail and Tim were great hosts, and Isabella their dog is very nice and friendly .
There are lots of chairs for lounging at the private lakeside and kayaks for paddling.
The room was charming and perfect for us (a couple). The back deck was very private and we enjoyed breakfast and night time stargazing there.
We had everything we needed in the small kitchen
And a nice living room seating area as well
Easy rides to Lenox and Tanglewood(20mins) and other Berkshire attractions and towns, hiking etc.

The hosts Gail and Tim were so nice, full of helpful advice about local restaurants and back routes. My wife and I were solo the first night, two friends joined us for the second night.
The cabin sleeps 5 quite comfortably, but it has to be people who are comfortable being around each other, there are no walls between beds. It's absolutely ideal for one couple and still quite comfortable for 4-5.
The pond views are spectacular, the whole area is lush and bountiful looking. Highly recommended rental.

The loft is amazing! Comfortable and has everything you need. The pond was peaceful. We were fishing and kayaking each day. The hosts Gail and Tim were super nice and quick to answer any questions we had. We grabbed ice cream in town at Lucky’s. It was delicious. We had a lovely weekend!

This loft was awesome! Gail and Tim were awesome hosts. The loft is an architectural wonder with natural wood, hand made touches throughout, comfortable bed and furniture and a cozy gas stove. The lakeside location was great. We loved the floating dock and aqua cycle! Gail told us about a back road that led us a cattle pastures, Mountain View’s and nature. You can’t beat the location. We drove the long way to Great Barrington. What a wonderful day! This place is 5 stars!

Loved everything about The Lodge. We had everything we needed and then some. The property was very clean and organized. Loved the little touches like the bathrobes and the info booklet on the kitchen table. We plan on going back next year, hopefully at least a couple of times!

We had a great time at the Loft! It was well equipped with everything you could need and it was quaint… Gail and Tim took the rowboat out of dry dock for us and we spent 5 hours on the lake fishing…. We had a wonderful stay from the moment we arrived. They made us feel like welcome friends. The property is beautiful and perfectly maintained. We were only sorry that we left a little early in the day because it it l was raining so day, and we couldn't make his use of the lake. We hope to return.

As others have said, the pictures fail to convey the charm of this place. It’s private and comfortable and right on a gorgeous lake. The owners left us alone but were available if we needed anything. We loved reading on the wooded deck and borrowing the kayaks to paddle up to upper goose pond. The only issue we had is not the fault of the owners - the neighbors had construction going on and we were woken up in the mornings to the sounds of saws and earth movers :( Other than that, this was a perfect stay! Thank you and we hope to return.
