About this house rental
Listening to the surf is one of this homes many pleasant attributes. It is beautifully furnished, with bright colors and dark wood, hard wood floors, and virtually everything one could desire to enjoy a get-away in our lovely hamlet of Cambria. Enjoy gorgeous ocean views, wiFi, wood-burning fireplace, Two TV's with DVD players, BBQ, front and back decks, and, your dog is welcome, too!
On the ground level is a one-car garage, a bedroom with queen bed, and a den with queen sofa sleeper, TV and DVD player, and a small fridge, microwave & coffeemaker. Set up as it's own little studio with bath, and ocean view deck, through the sliding glass doors of the den.
Upstairs has two bedrooms and baths, kitchen, deck in front, and enclosed patio in back with BBQ and lounging furniture. From this patio, there is street access, as this property is street-to-street. It gets lovely morning sun, and has shady afternoons. The kitchen is perfect for preparing fine meals on the 5 burner stove, a convection and warming oven, and plenty of prep space. Besides the house will make you feel wonderful, the soulful energy of the ocean, the quality furnishings, and the comfortable, casual atmosphere will leave you wanting to plan your next visit! Prior reviews were accurate, we found the home super clean and very well equipped in the kitchen. Pleasant decor, comfortable beds, and pleanty of space and bedrooms to provide privacy. Location was great for the sea view, surf sounds, and exploring hikes. The only negatives were very minor and did not impact our enjoyment one bit.

Sounds of the Surf was an amazing vacation rental. We have rented from Scenic Coast Vacation Rentals for about 20 years. We've always been pleased. We stayed nine nights. The kitchen was stocked with appliances and dishes. We always use the kitchen daily.The decks were great, views, and wildlife. It accommodated our family so well. The backyard was great with morning sun and Being. We loved it.

We had a wonderful few days at Sounds of the Surf celebrating my sister’s 80th birthday. We were able to accommodate five adults for the overnights and four more Cambria friends for the daytime party. The house is well situated and very clean. It was great to have a front patio and a big backyard! My only negative comment is about the pullout bed in the den. It is not at all comfortable and certainly would not accommodate two adults. Kids would probably be fine on it. We will definitely rent this house again. Thanks!

This was the third time we have rented this house for our annual week with our grown daughters and their guys. It’s hard to find rentals with 3 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. This was perfect, plus breathtaking view of the ocean and a short walk down the hill to the cliffs.

the home was lovely.....the view was awesome. it was very clean...well stocked. but could use a new set of kitchens knife. the downstairs toilet wasn't working properly....the master bath drain was not working. we were standing in an inch of water while showering.thought the cleaning fee was a little steep.fabulous home. we have found our new place to stay from now on. how many dogs do you allow? looking forward to staying here in December

This house is Perfect for three couples. While it may not be close to the ocean you have beatiful views of the ocean and can always hear the crashing waves. The house was so clean I really couldn't believe it. The only downside was the fireplace was not in working order and we were really looking forward to fires in the early morning and late evenings. Honestly this house was really so comfortable and lovely , we will definately be back, but we are hoping the fireplace will be fixed by then, ; )

Furnishings are a little dated but property was very clean. Well stocked. Driveway is a little steep if you drive a RV van but plenty long enough. Community was quiet and you are a close drive to the amazing shops and coffee spots in Cambria. You can hear and have a great view of ocean.

except for rain a couple of days itwas just about perfect in every way. wheen weather bad we stayed in cooked...ate and played games no problem ..when good visited some wineries ate at some good restaurants...great!!!

This house was very comfortable. It was extremely well maintained/updated and just right for our friends weekend. It was great to have 3 bathrooms. This is the second time we stayed in the Marine Terrace area. While it is nice, if returning to the house at night it is very dark; no street lights and a bit hard to find. A couple of suggestions: Replace the upstairs TV. It's old and small. Replace the seating on the upstairs deck. It's getting rusted.

We were very comfortable at this property for six nights. There were six of us and the place was roomy as well as the bonus of having three full baths was great. We had an issue with the coffee maker and they replaced it with a new one when contacted. It’s in a quiet neighborhood with a nice view of the ocean.I would recommend this property to friends and family.

Loved it- hope we can stay again someday! Left a list of small maintenance things with office but did forget to mention the bath faucet in primary bathroom shower is loose and leaking while using.
House was clean, comfortable, wish I could live there permanently. Coffee pot was broken/clogged- took over two hours to brew a pot! We bought another one at a thrift store but it’s pretty slow too- but at least it has a timer! That was the only inconvenience- and the previous visitors hadn’t cleaned the bbq, so we had to clean their mess off of it before we could use it. The rug in main living room definitely has a dog/urine smell, and there was some lingering pet hair from previous visitors but wasn't bothersome
I would absolutely stay here again- the views, awesome patios, the sounds of the ocean and the deer everywhere… just an amazing time. Thank you!

The things they don't tell you: That driveway is very steep, and the house is not even close to the beach. That being said, it is a GREAT house -- lots of room and a fully fenced back yard for dogs! The downstairs apartment is super, and the upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms are all good. And there are deer and wild turkeys in the neighborhood!

This home has beautiful patios and decks that truly bring the beauty of outdoor living to your vacation experience. Small group of friends gathering from around the country to catch up and enjoy the beauty of CA's central coast. The house was absolutely perfect in all ways. Spacious with a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable dining area and livingroom, clean and comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms,and had the weather been more conducive, we would have enjoyed the porch and patio areas. Would recommend replacing towels - they were clean but pretty well-worn. We would stay at this property again in a heartbeat...and did I mention the ocean view and sunset! Beautiful.

The house is in a great location with views of the ocean and sounds of the waves. Scenic Coast Properties manages this location and on their contract it states that any issues with the house must be reported IMMEDIATELY. So I called and emailed them to let them know the sound on the tv in the LR kept going out, the dishwasher was not attached so it was moving around and the soap dispenser didn't always open and there was water sitting after a cycle. The washing machine would stop in the middle of a cycle full of water which ended up being an electrical problem that had to be rewired and was a fire hazard, the plumbing in the MB shower wasn't working and it would make a very loud noise that could be heard outside and then no water pressure and the spout was loose. The coffee maker took about an hour to brew a half of cup, the microwave also sounds like it is going out but is still working, the radio didn't work and the lights by the back gate don't work. And also the bath towels left for us to use were so warn and stained we went and bought new ones. When I reported this to Scenic Coast Properties (Valerie) she wrote WOW we have not heard this from previous guests and that some guests had returned which made me feel like she didn't believe me. She did send a maintenance man who rewired the electrical outlet to the washing machine and did say it was a fire hazard, he turned down the hot water heater which was dangerously hot, brought a new coffee maker, and attached the dishwasher so it would stop sliding around. He could not fix our MB shower he said that was a major job that required a plumber. We were there for 6 days and like I said before the house is a nice house in a great location but I don't feel that it is being maintained. I even stated to her that I thought maybe it hadn't been rented in awhile because most of these things would have had to been reported. But after our treatment by Scenic Coast Properties I would never rent through them again and we come often. And if there are other owners besides Scenic Coast Properties you should know they are not maintaining this property.

We loved this home! The reverse floorplan provides for wonderful views from the living room, dining, main bedroom and kitchen! It was so clean, uncluttered and well equipped. Very short drive to the beach, Fiscalini Ranch and downtown Cambria. We enjoyed gorgeous sunsets every night from the front deck and patio, and our dog enjoyed the large enclosed back patio very much. We will definitely be back! Thank you!

The house was very clean and the we loved the overall set up of the house. The only problem was the seating in the living room the small sofa and 2 uncomfortable chairs did not live up to the rest of the house. We did enjoy breakfast outside looking at the ocean and all the deer and wild turkeys. Definitely a wonderful house and Scenic Coast was great to work with!!! Looking forward to next year! (Oh the pillows could be replaced they were very flat)

This was our second time at Sounds of the Surf. Location and layout are perfect for us (couple with three kids in late teens/early 20s). Lots to do every day, but always ended with a call cocktail on the porch at sunset. We will be back! As always, Scenic Coast staff was helpful and friendly; our only feedback would be to stock the house with more toilet paper/towels/laundry and dishwasher soap for guests staying more than one week.

This is our 12th year of renting a home and enjoying Cambria. Very dear memories for every year. This was our third year in this beautiful home.Almost every part of this home is perfect esepecially the fact that it is pet friendly.My only complaint is the living room seating is not as comfortable as it was before. One small couch and two small uncomfortable chairs. This is where we like to sit and enjoy a movie in the evening. I liked the chairs that use to be there. Other than that it’s perfect.

What a great spot! Clean and very welcoming. Downstairs area is great for another family if you're traveling together. Kitchen upstairs was well equipped and the bedrooms were all very comfortable.
