A SPECIAL PLACE
Discover Cavalier Cottage B&B, a pet-friendly home away from your home and an attractive alternative to conventional hotels, motels and B&B’s. We warmly welcome visitors who come to this beautiful and diverse area of Western Massachusetts with or without their companion animals.
PET-FRIENDLY WAS THE IMPETUS FOR OPENING
Since opening the cottage in January of 2012, I’ve welcomed more guests than I could possibly have predicted or hoped. It seems that Cavalier Cottage has answered a need for truly pet-friendly accommodations. I could tell you stories about the wonderful four-leggeds who’ve enjoyed country walks here, not to mention their terrific two-legged companions. I could not have imagined that I’d meet such a variety of interesting people when I opened the cottage this past winter.
Nestled at the base of the Charlemont hills and located on a very quiet country road, Cavalier Cottage is spacious, bright and comfortable. The live-in area is simply but graciously appointed, featuring ceiling to floor windows, newly installed oak laminate flooring, a queen size bed with a deluxe Simmons plush-firm mattress, private entrance and private deck. The fully equipped kitchen has an eat-in area with a full size stove and refrigerator (in case you want to cook-in), and a private bathroom. Relax on the private deck and enjoy the country view. For entertainment, you can access Netflix, Amazon, MHZChoice, and Acorn movies & shows, Fubh TV with over 120 channels on a 32" flat screen TV, or play classic board games. To stay in touch with the outside world, the cottage is equipped with broadband Wi-Fi. Amenities also include a delicious Continental breakfast with Pat’s English scones, a small but growing library, and a CD player with a collection of jazz and classical CD’s.
CENTRAL LOCATION FOR ALL W.MA ATTRACTIONS
Cavalier Cottage is conveniently located to the Mohawk Trail (Route 2) and many outdoor activities: There are great hiking trails, river rafting, tubing, zip line canopy tours, horseback riding, tennis, golf, biking, snow shoeing, rock climbing, downhill and X-country skiing. The beautiful Massachusetts countryside, with its many quaint villages and towns, is also home to a great variety of iconic educational and cultural destinations, including MassMoCa, the Clarke Institute of Art on the Williams College campus, and many more. The area is a four-season vacation destination, from foliage time in the autumn, through ski season into spring hiking time and summer holidays. Time here is sublimely tranquil and peaceful.
~Berkshire East ski area, just 15 minutes up Rt. 2 from the cottage. Not only skiing but canopy tours and summer sled rides.
Please note:
As more guests have visited, many potential guests were unable to come because the dates they wanted were already booked. Because Cavalier Cottage can only accommodate one party of guests at a time, we highly recommend that if your desired dates are available, you secure the space by submitting a deposit (through the cottage website) or by booking it on-line on this site, in order to avoid disappointment. Cavalier Cottage, a cottage for all seasons, is perfect for week-long vacations, weekend or mid-week getaways, writer’s retreats, house-hunting visits, and temporary lodging for relocated executives.
We look forward to continuing to share our cozy and comfortable cottage with guests from around the world.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any comments or questions.
A very warm greeting awaits all who visit Cavalier Cottage.

We booked to attend a wedding in town and needed a pet friendly place to stay. Patrica was quick to reply to any questions we had.
5.0
Patricia was gracious and welcoming and her property was lovely. My mother and stepfather had a great stay. Thank you.
5.0
My daughter and I brought our 2 beloved Beagles for their first lengthy car ride and holiday to Pat’s lovely rescue haven. As our little guys are also rescues, we are endeavoring to give them the best life ever….experiencing Cavalier Cottage allowed us to do just that. Many thanks to Pat and all her very loved rescues for sharing this slice of Heaven with us. We will be back.

We’re originally from the area. It was great to connect with friends, ski at Berkshire East, and enjoy the ever changing weather. It was nice to find a place where we could bring our dog.

I had a ski race at Berkshire East, and the three of us had a nice stay. Very cozy.

There was no stay. We made the mistake of arriving one day early. Once we saw the property, is was discussing. Did not go back.

Patricia was very nice. Comfortable bed. Very clean, but
many moths and some crawling bugs we had to take care of. Instructions for TV use would be helpful, and explicit directions, and or map to Sunburn Beach would be very helpful. Close to a lot of shopping, rafting/kyaking.
5.0
Cozy and comfortable cottage that is very pet friendly. It was nice to bring our small dogs and feel at home. Delicious coffee and scones made by the host each morning too

We had a great time at Cavalier cottage. The place was really comfortable; we had everything we needed; and the bed was really super. Patricia was very responsive to any questions that we had. The location is really out there in the woods with a 10 minute drive to town. It was especially nice to be able to go on vacation with our dogs and to have them feel at home. We too felt very at home. We will definitely keep Cavalier Cottage on our list of favorites.

Cozy and lovely cottage located in a beautiful wooded area on the perfect road for dog walks. Delightful host with her own canine pack made us feel right at home, and we enjoyed the morning scones. The location is great- just outside of Shelburne Falls, home to the Bridge of Flowers, glacial pools, and delicious restaurants (esp Hearty Eats)and vintage shops. It was east to take day trip to Mt Greylock, Historic Deerfield etc. This was our annual fall foliage trip and the leaves this year were spectacular. All in all, Cavalier Cottage was a perfect stay in every way.

Very quiet and private.

We stayed here so my child could attend a summer camp in the area. This property more than met our need for this activity and also allowed me to work from the property. We enjoyed our time there and would recommend this property to others looking to stay in the area.

Low key, charming accommodations in a quiet country area. Everything I needed was available. Just know that there is no cell service in the dwelling or right outside of it. Knowing that ahead of time would have been helpful so that anyone trying to reach me would not be concerned. But certainly not a dealbreaker and it was actually nice to be unplugged for a change. I would go again if traveling to the area. Pat greeted us warmly and made us welcome.
Thank you!

If you are looking for a super clean, comfortable, cottage with lots of amenities, a next-door friendly and accommodating host, and that welcomes pets, you will not find better anywhere in Northwestern Massachusetts. The host has obviously gone to great lengths to make the cottage, not only comfortable, but also very charming. The cottage feels remote but is just a few miles from historic Shelburne Falls, with good restaurants and interesting shops and galleries. Our time at the cottage was delightful.

We were looking for a dog friendly get away for our pup, Cookie, she lived this place, as did we. Comfortable nice and cool on the summer's hottest day. I loved knowing my dog was welcomed it helped us relax and unwind. Adorable set up. Thank you Pat!

Very welcoming. The owner likes animals and we felt comfortable bringing our dogs. It’s a secluded place very quiet.

We took this trip to have a long weekend of relaxing in the Berkshires. Little did we know that we booked to stay in a hidden gem. Pat is extremely welcoming and accommodating. She was there to help with the check in process and served us incredible biscuits and OJ every morning. The area is peaceful and beautiful and only a few minutes from 2 towns and a ski resort. Beautiful location, incredible host. I would highly recommend staying here.

Cavilier Cottage was everything we needed! 100% dog-friendly (our dog loved the couch), fully equipped kitchen, delicious warm scones each morning. Thank you!

A beautiful remote location for a weekend getaway. Pat was wonderful to our dog and she made us feel at home right off the bat. Helped us by providing bedding when we forgot ours and was totally accessible with local interests and places to visit.
2.5
We had a lovely stay, Patricia was wonderful, the property and biscuits for breakfast were also lovely. We felt very comfortable in and around the property, and enjoyed walking our pup on the lightly traveled road, it was a beautiful area and close to all our desired hiking destination! Would definitely stay here again!

Several resterants or shop, cook and stay in. Nice area, very comfortable.

My husband and I and our 2 children (5&7) stayed at the cottage for a little get away. We enjoyed going to Berkshire east for skiing and tubing. Not much else going on due to Covid but that was fine. I didn’t realize the owner lived attached to the cottage but it was no problem. We saw her at check in and check out and communication was great. The size of the cottage was fine for us but I wouldn’t do it with teen kids or another couple.
2.5
Patricia was a really nice host, and super responsive when planning. The cottage was clean and comfortable. The location was great for skiing at Berkshire East and visiting Shelburne Falls. Thanks!

Very nice stay. Spacious little cottage with plenty of privacy. Surroundings are amazing. Friendly welcome and departure.

We had just a lovely stay at Cavalier Cottage. Its location is perfect - 10 minutes to Shelburne Falls, ~20 to Greenfield, ~45 to North Adams and very close to lots of beautiful hiking spots. Off a quiet street that makes for a really nice walk, as well. It was so nice to be able to get out of the city with our pup and stay somewhere truly pet friendly. The cottage was exactly as pictured and super cozy (also with Disney+, which was a welcome surprise when it rained!). The morning scones and juice were delicious and such a treat. Just a wonderful time, and will definitely be coming back! Thank you!
2.5
Traveling through Western MA with our Kooikerhondje...and this is a real gem of a place for those with pets! Charming, well appointed, thoughtful and cozy (a bit tight for four...but two of us are small!). Extremely quiet and pleasant. Easy access to Shelbourne Falls and the Mohawk Trail Delights. Our first time with Air BnB...very positive.
