About this house rental
Pineplace Lights is a uniquely designed elegant architectural lighthouse designed by architect Mark Ruhle. It was his vision that each space is unique. Therefore you will find each room a comfortable delight eliciting different senses and feelings.
Pineplace Lights is nestled in the deep pine woods of Orrs Island Maine overlooking historic Lowell's Cove. Come experience the essence of Maine which inspired artists such as Andrew Wyeth and Winslow Homer as well as the children's book 'The Whale in Lowell's Cove.' Walk to the nearby beach to lounge in the sun and to enjoy the salty air. Afterward, enjoy a fun evening of dining and relaxing at various local restaurants or just stay in and cook your own meal in our carefully equipped kitchen. At night you will sleep deeply and soundly in our comfortable beds, the sounds of the cove a lullaby.
You can share many happy hours with your family and friends while sitting on our wide deck which catches the sun of the day and the breeze off Lowell's Cove. Almost every room in the house has a spectacular Cove view. There are 6 bedrooms and seven decks. There is a large backyard that includes an acre of Pine Forest. There is a small secluded studio in the woods. Kids can use it for a hangout. Adults can paint, write, read, or just meditate.
Choose to spend your vacation at Pineplace Lights and you will never regret a moment. It is an experience that will give you memories that will last a lifetime.

We couldn’t have asked for a better week! The house is absolutely stunning, with an exceptional water view. The modern, well-equipped kitchen allowed us to prepare several delicious home-cooked meals. There are bedrooms on all three floors—our son loved the tower room, while my husband and I enjoyed the two-room suite on the second floor, both with fantastic water views. The neighborhood is peaceful and ideal for a relaxing stroll by the water. This place definitely deserves 5+ stars!

The house is gorgeous, in a beautiful location. We came with family members and had more than enough space to spread out (7 people). Directly across the small road is a little cove that lovely to look at. The kids also got in the water. It's not a "beach" but they'll take any place you can get in. As others have mentioned, the wifi doesn't remain strong through the whole house, and our phone connection was pretty weak. But we were happy to be less connected during our stay.

We stayed there 17 years ago and were thrilled that the house was still available. Owned and managed by the same people!!! The location is great. The view is fantastic. Only thing would be to prune the shrubs a bit in front for a better view from the first floor front deck!

We enjoyed the daily breezes, and the comfort of this house in a very beautiful area of Maine. There are small beaches nearby and Popham Beach is one of our favorite beaches, about a 50 min drive. We loved Cook’s Lobster House, 5 min drive, and ate at Little Saigon and The Maine Bistro, both in Brunswick and both were excellent. The owners/managers were responsive to any issues and needs. We would stay here again.

We had a great week's vacation. The house is beautiful with room for 11 of us. The view from the property of Lowells Cove is spectacular. There are several places for short walks with beautiful views. There are a few restaurants with excellent food. There is a great shop with all kinds of candy and ice cream.

My family and I have been vacationing on Orrs Island for over 35 years - ever since my sister Paula and her husband Andy bought a house there. As our family grew - each year we all walked by your Architectural Lighthouse and collectively said "We are going to rent that one day!" Well the day finally arrived and boy did we make some phenomenal family memories that shall be past down to next generations. They say never judge a book by its cover but in this case the cover DID match the book. The inside of this place is perfect for large families and the mutliple decks were enjoyed sunrise and sunsets. Short walks to Lowell's Cove for beach days, walking across the Cribstone over to Cooks Restaurant, taking schooner rides, the delcious Candy Store and on and on. Besides the place being as advertised we also had a excellent real time comunication with Stacey our host. She kept us informed and answered all questions. I highly recommend anyone looking to freeze an incredible memory in time - RENT THIS.

Had a fantastic Memorial Day stay. Enjoyed everything about the house which is well maintained and stocked more than you can imagine.

The house is very unique. Loved the quaintness of it and the setting was very peaceful. Plenty of room for the 6 of us and had all the amenities that we needed. It’s remote but well within 30 min of amazing restaurants and hiking trails and shopping.

This was the second time we rented the Architectural Lighthouse for thanksgiving weekend and it was wonderful. There were 9 of us (three generations of family, all adults). Plenty of room for us with two living rooms and on one sunny day we spent time on one of the many decks overlooking the cove. Great family time in an absolutely lovely, picturesque setting. we enjoyed taking walks on Orr's Island and went to one of the microbreweries in Brunswick one evening. Looking forward to returning!

My whole family stayed in this rental and had a wonderful time. The view is amazing and there was plenty of space for us to all be together or separate when we wanted. My only complaint would be that the tall grass in front of the driveway blocks part of the view from the lower level. Beside that it was perfect for what we wanted.

We rented for a 60th anniversary. Amble room for the entire family! Great kitchen, fully stocked even with lobster pots to have lobster bake. We were able to cook full meals with everything we would need! The view was amazing…over looking a cove! 3 bathrooms, no one was ever waiting. Owner was very accommodating with times and ready to answer any text. Highly recommend!!

Clean, exactly as advertised and incredible views of the water we were a large group including 2 babies and the place was great. Plenty of room and amazingly well stocked. Stacey responded to any questions so quickly and fave great recommendations. We really had a lovely time.

We traveled to Maine for the first time. GPS brought us right to the front door. Four rocking chairs on the front porch, and great views from the numerous windows. Two sitting areas. Kitchen was well stocked. Many restaurants and a great candy store within minutes. Great communication with the host. Eclectic, homey decor.

This is our second year vacationing at this property. Very spacious home and yard that also allowed our dog to stay with us. It was perfect for our annual family get together in Maine. There was so much to do in the area and all the space we needed to relax and play games at the house.

The house was very spacious with 2 living areas and a large eat in kitchen and multiple decks. The two room master and bedroom on the 3rd floor have sweeping views of Lowell’s Cove. The kitchen was extremely well stocked. The house is about 20 minutes from
Bowdoin/Brunswick. We would definitely stay hear again.

Gorgeous, spacious, well-appointed in every way. The view is jaw-droppingly beautiful from the dining room, living room, and three bedrooms. Second living room had a fireplace and lots of kindling and seasoned wood. Comfortable furniture, beds, linens. Friendly neighbors. Sandy beach a couple of minutes walk. The shore is steps from the driveway. Two of the three teens barely looked at their phones in a week. The owner was thoughtful and careful to make sure we wouldn’t have any surprises. Owner’s instruction booklet was all about guests’ enjoyment of their stay. I would love to return.

Beautiful house with beautiful views! Large private back yard and pine grove for dogs. House stocked with all necessities. Ample parking for 5-6 cars. Great jumping off spot for short hikes around the islands. Sunsets unreal from front of house and deck. Warm and cozy with gas fire place and wood stove, and spacious for our family of 8 adults and two dogs. Stacey is a 5-star host. Great memories made on our Thanksgiving vacation. Would rerun in a heartbeat.

Home was as described. Very clean and accommodating. Stacey was efficient and friendly. She was available when needed. Only drawback to this property is limited parking spaces-but that didn’t deter our enjoyment.

We loved the rental and the rental's location
In August, the water was warm enough for swimming. We kayaked, took lovely walks, and enjoyed making and eating many meals together. The decks are great for chatting and enjoying the views. The owner/property manager was very responsive to my questions. I would gladly return!

Our family had the pleasure of staying at this house for 6 days. The location is breathtaking, the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful, and the house is beautiful while still being comfortable. It’s an amazing area and we made so many memories.

We loved our stay on Orrs Island. My wife and I had visited the Brunswick/Harpswell area in the past and loved it so much, but this time we were able to enjoy it with some of our other family members. The house is located in a perfect spot for some peace and serenity, as well as to bask in the ocean breeze and salt air. We were able to easily visit neighboring areas (like, Popham Colony and beach, Reid State Park, Five Islands, Pemaquid, Bristol, Boothbay, Harpswell, Bailey’s Island, Brunswick, etc.) and see many different sites. The house was clean and homey. Lots of relaxation time was spent on the decks and playing card games around the patio table. We made use of the charcoal grill and laundry machines, took strolls around Lowell’s Cove. We had a lovely time and would consider renting again in the future, should an opportunity present itself.

There was plenty of room for our 7 family members plus our dog with a room to spare and a beautiful view from most rooms. Several decks and balconies to hang out on. I appreciated the gate on the front deck to keep our dog contained while we were enjoying the view. We're already requesting a week for next summer here. We have so much more to explore in this area.

The property was great for a relaxing week in Maine! It is not technically waterfront, but has amazing water views and there are also places just a very quick walk away to wade in to the water and put kayaks in. Our 2.5 year old son loved playing at the beach and wading into the water! And we enjoyed taking our kayaks out to paddle around.
The neighbors put on an awesome fireworks show we could see from the deck on July 3rd.
The wifi was strong in the back living room, which was great and made it possible for a couple in our group to work remotely some while staying at the house. The wifi signal does drop off quickly at the front of the house and up to the third floor. So, if you own any repeaters to bring they could come in handy if you want fuller wifi coverage.
When back in the area we would definitely look into renting this property again.

We where only there one night because of a death in my family. We loved the short stay, 24 hours, but plan to return next October.

My husband and I along with a group of friends were pleasantly surprised with the house. It was beautiful and very clean. Everything we needed was available. We plan on going back and we are hoping this home will be available.

A wonderful property for a group of friends for a long weekend. Plenty of space to relax. Beautiful views. Less than an hour to Portland. A few interesting places up and down Hartswell, but no actual town center. Highly recommend!

The property and surrounding area were very enjoyable. Very easy to access, well-stocked kitchen, and well maintained household. The only drawback, which is to be expected for coastal Maine, was poor connectivity - both phone and wifi were very spotty. But we took it as a sign to just enjoy the surroundings and skip the electronics as there were plenty of other activities within 15-60 minute drives.

Wonderful family house, well stocked kitchen, comfy beds, great views of Lowell's Cove. Lots of porches and windows. Would definitely stay again if needed a large space.

Wonderful place for an extended family reunion/vacation. Lots of bedrooms for private space with plenty of gathering space for meals and games. Excellent location with gorgeous views. Close to hiking and museums. We loved sitting on the deck watching the tides go in and out. Kids loved collecting sea glass and shells. Washer and dryer were nice to have - all appliances were nice. Kitchen was well-equipped. Would happily stay here again!

We have been renting houses for reunions for 15 years, and this one tops them all. It is exactly as described and more. The house is on a cove, with clear views of the water from all levels. There are multiple rooms for gathering, multiple decks for reflection and quiet, and front and back porches for outside visiting. The kitchen is completely stocked with all one could need, there are books and games, and a surprise trunk of dress up clothes in the basement. The grill is large enough for family grilling. The tower room is simply lovely. Overall this is a perfect house!

A wonderful house in a great location! Very well equipped and spacious. Well equipped kitchen with everything you need to do some serious cooking. Good and comfy beds. Great views from the front bedrooms, dining and living areas and front porch. Ideal for afternoon cocktails :-) We were only 4 adults plus a dog but you could easily stay here with a larger family or group of friends. Had some issues with Internet though, if you need business or remote schooling to be done while staying here you'll have problems...during our stay it was very slow and spotty including the Internet based phone not working. And there is no reliable mobile phone signal in this location. Owners tried working it out with the provider but without success.

The house was wonderful and has a ton of character. Great views of the water and lots of decks to sit outside on. Slow internet was an issue, but besides that, everything else was great!

Loved our stay at Orr’s Island! The house was beautiful with plenty of space. The surrounding area is absolutely lovely and was the perfect place for a brief respite from pandemic stressors. Would definitely go back for another getaway,
