Hali' i Kai is a 30 acre gated oceanfront complex on the Big Island of Hawaii with numerous luxurious resort like amenities. It is about a 20 minute drive from Kailua-Kona airport. Our condo, #23D is a spacious second floor end unit without anyone above you. It is a 2 bedroom 2 bath condo furnished with Hawaiian decor and has a large lanai. Very modern unit with open floor concept with crisp ocean breeze flowing from the lanai through the front door.
The Hali'i Kai Ocean Club Bar and Grill with a magnificent crystal clear salt water pool with gentle waterfalls in a lagoon like setting and a sandy bottom jacuzzi is only a 5 minute walk away. It overlooks the ocean and without a doubt you will see humpback whales during season (November to March). The open cabana poolside bar and grill serves tropical cocktails and delicious menus. You will see the most magnificent sunsets from here. Sunset times are the most jaw dropping times you will have on your visit to Hali'i Kai.
The open fitness center is adjacent to the pool giving you a panoramic view of the ocean and the tropical breeze will keep you cool. Recently two Peloton bikes were added to the well equipped fitness center. On occasion you will see schools of dolphins passing by displaying their gymnastic majesty. A tennis court and a half basketball court is a 2 minute walk away. Pickleball courts were recently added. There are four tennis rackets and tennis balls available. We also have a basketball for you to shoot some hoops. Beach toys for the kids are available.
A brand new Putting Green (2021) has been placed close to the tennis courts for your leisure time with your friends and family.
The master bedroom has a King size bed and a 55' TV, a large master bath with his and hers sink. The large second bedroom has 2 Queen size beds and an adjacent large bath with 2 sinks. It has a 48' TV. There is a fully equipped kitchen with granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances. The living room includes a sleeper sofa. There is a 55' wall mounted TV. The Ultimate Cable package with numerous movie channels is available. Pay Per View channels will be the responsible of the guest. High speed internet access ( WiFi ) is available. The condo has central air and full sized washer/dryer. A lanai to enjoy your morning coffee is right off the living room. Central air automatically shuts off when either the lanai or the front door is opened. Play n pack is available for your toddler.
The condo is located near the Coconut Grove BBQ area where several high end grills are available in a classic quiet and private island setting where you could grill your fresh catch of the day. Beautiful large hammocks tied between coconut tress are there as well to take your nap after a nice meal. The only sound you will hear are those of the tropical birds and the coconut fronds in the gentle breeze.
The famous and historical Anaeho' omalu white sand beach and the Lavalava beach club with its exquisite on the beach casual dining is a five minute drive. Excursions for whale watching, snorkeling, sunset dining depart from here. Hapuna and Maunakea beach and 69 mile beach are nearby as well approximately 15-20 minute drive. Numerous activities including deep sea fishing, kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving, wind surfing, zip lining, helicopter tours, volcano tours, whale tours, swimming with the dolphins, swimming with giant and gentle stingrays and many many more.
Kona is about a 30 minute drive away. Visit the historical district and an awesome farmers market to get all your tropical fruits and Hawaiian artifacts. The waterfront is lined with numerous magnificent restaurants. Enjoy the harbor where you will see traditional canoe races.
Numerous hotels have nightly luaus with sumptuous island food and mesmerizing traditional dances including hula and knife and fire dancing.
There are two world famous golf courses in Waikoloa literally minutes away. The 18 hole Robert Jones designed Beach course or the King's course designed by Tom Weiskopf.
Queen's Marketplace less than five minutes away offers great shopping and will provide you with everything you would need for your stay. The Waikoloa Luxury Cinema at the Queens Marketplace with in theatre dining is a great experience. Starbucks to get you started is conveniently located here. Large stores such as Costco and Walmart are near the Kailua-Kona airport.
The Kings' Shops located less than five minutes driving distance offers a wide variety of shopping and has several restaurants. Located close to the historic Kings Trails featuring ancient petroglyphs. If you are interested in a night of high end dining visit Roy’s and you won’t be disappointed.
This condo has the larger floor plan ( 1459 sq ft with the lanai) and is an end unit with lots of Windows on the second floor which is the top most floor.
The entire floor was recently replaced with high end durable vinyl planks simulating drift wood. There are no carpets. Tile backsplash depicting beautiful tropical sea colors was also recently installed.
Check in at 4 PM check out is at 10 AM.
There is a daily $25 resort fee payable to the resort at check in. The resort fee is for the entire group at the condo. The resort fee is for the use of the oceanfront Ocean Club which has the swimming pool and spa, restaurant and bar and the fitness center. On paying the fee the fobs/keys will be handed to you to access the pool and entry through the front gates. The guest is responsible for the resort fee and the amount is set by Haliikai management.

This property was better than advertised and the countless high ratings are accurate. It was more spacious than I expected for our family of 6 with a nice large deck for outdoor seating. I loved that they included basics such as enough toilet paper for our stay, paper toweling, dish soap, laundry soap, dryer sheets and dishwasher tablets. Things that I always hate having to buy for a week stay as I often have to leave most of it behind. I’d much rather pay a little more and have these things included! There are also plenty of spices and basics to cook meals at the condo which we did multiple nights. The pool area was a hit with our family and we used it daily. We loved the accessibility to the golf courses and beaches which we used daily also. We rented snorkel gear from snorkel Bob’s for the week and our favorite beach was the black sand beach right next door with tons of colorful fish. We went 4 days in a row just to snorkel for an hour as it was so close. The food at the pool area was excellent and the fitness center was also used by our family. The hosts were very kind and responsive to a few questions we had and when the wifi was not working they worked with us the day we notified them to get it working again and it was fixed the same day. We enjoyed their recommendations for the Malasada truck a few miles down the road and for some local fish restaurants we enjoyed. We loved our stay here and would absolutely rent this condo again.

This may be the first rental I have stayed in that was better than the photos. Well appointed, clean, beautiful, quiet location. We made the pool at sunset a nightly routine - it was amazing to let the kids splash around while watching the sun go down and enjoying the nightly conch ceremony. We couldn’t have been happier with the host’s communication and the local setup. We’re already thinking about our next trip!

We are from Oahu and this is our second time staying in a Hali'i Kai condo and it truly is the BEST location in the Waikoloa / Mauna Lani area (in my opinion) and we've stayed at a number of the various properties over the last decade.
The reason Hali'i Kai is the best: the property is immaculate, the pool not only has a view of the ocean, but a full service bar & restaurant (although this was closed for most of our stay), and a full gym with also a view of the ocean.
The condo itself is modern, spacious, and fully equipped in the kitchen, with beach amenities (towels, chairs, umbrella, toys) and large, modern TVs. We also loved how quiet it was even though there were people staying next to us and below us, the construction is solid with thick walls so we didn't hear a thing.
The owners were also very communicative, quick to respond and very welcoming to their home.
We love Hali'i Kai and can't wait to come back!

Just finished a week stay at this wonderful condo. Loved the location on the island for our home base. Condo was clean, beds were comfy, lots of extras for use (beach towels, chairs, cooler etc). Host was very prompt when contacted. Used the pool only twice but had no issues while there like I had read about. Gated, safe, clean, quiet community. Loved how you can walk along the shore and it connects to nearby hotels and restaurants.

The location is fabulous, the resort is beautifully maintained and we enjoyed the grounds, pool, poolside restaurant & bar. We also met many owners-in-residence during our visit. The Janif's condo is beautiful with a great 2bd/2ba layout. The only thing we didn't care for was that the sheets and pillowcases were very inexpensive 100% polyester, which didn't seem to fit with the quality of the rest of the furnishings which were nice. One other thing that's not that big of a deal is that vrbo shows checkout as 10:30am, but the guest book in the condo says 10am. If you're not a morning person when on holiday, it can seem early. But overall we had a wonderful visit, and we would like to return again soon.

We stayed with our extended family at the condo and all commented on how great the location was and how wonderful the condo itself was. It was clean and well stocked with multiple beach items. We loved the community/neighborhood and ate multiple times at the pool restaurant. Communication with the owners was easy, with quick responses. They were great hosts! I would had given a 5 star rating, but I didn't like the rule that no food or drinks, including water, can be brought into the pool area. All food and drinks are to be purchased at the bar/restaurant in the pool area. Other than that, we enjoyed the beautiful condo and property. It was very quiet and peaceful.

Halii Kai is located within a gated area near the Kings and Queens marketplaces. The grocery store in the Queens Market is excellent, and priced pretty well, all things told.
The kitchen in this VRBO is well appointed with all pots/pans etc. if you're cooking for yourself on a Hawaiian vacation. The grills out back were easy to use and super convenient.
Unit has comfortable beds, large TVs, and just enough gathering space for family game nights, etc. Parking for one vehicle.
Pool at Halii Kai is wonderful, as is the hot tub. Beach access within 15-20 minute drive either north or south along the coast.
Hosts had everything clean and were communicative. Excellent spot!

Our host, Janelle was easy to work with and was able to respond back immediately. The condo was spacious, excellent and had everything we needed. The boogie boards, beach chairs and umbrella was a plus to have in the condo. This was our first family trip to Hawaii and I would definitely come back in a heartbeat. Janelle was available and lovely for any questions we had. The condo was perfect for us. Know that the pool doesn't allow any outside beverages including water. We went to Costco upon landing and mistakenly to the grocery store in kings shops. It may be worth packing a few kitchen essentials so you don't have to overpay for them.

The condo was very comfortable for me, my wife and 3 kids. We are glad it had beds for everyone. The beds are comfortable, but since they are memory foam, they tend to be a bit hot. The condo was very clean, appropriately stocked and nicely decorated. The only suggestion I would give is to put a night light in the master bath. With no window, you can't see anything at night unless you turn the light on. The internet worked great, as I had to work some of the time there. Close to the best beaches and snorkeling only 15 minutes away.

The home was exactly as pictured, but so much better in person. The rooms are very spacious and the beds are comfortable. It was the perfect spot for my family of 4.

The home was in the center of everything. The restaurant on the property was exceptional with the food and service. I will go back for the Ti Chicken on flatbread. The accommodations were great and the home was decorated beautifully. The owners were available by phone if needed. Absolute great place.

We had an amazing 16 nights in March 2023. The condo was great and the Hali’i Kai grounds were so beautiful. We loved the lanai and watching all the birds and the geckos everyday. We will 100% be back as soon as we can.
Janelle responded immediately when we had an issue with the fridge ice machine and were able to fix it ourselves right away.

Very well appointed kitchen with lots of supplies. Extras for beach - chairs, towels, toys, etc. - also included. Thank you for NOT having a memory foam mattress in the master. They are not suitable for hot climates, yet lots of rentals and hotels seem to have them.

We had a wonderful time at the resort. The condo was exactly as advertised. We had tons or room to stretch out. The local clubhouse is a great area to hang out, plus the food and drinks were great as well! We watched whales and spinning dolphins right from the clubhouse; what an experience! We will definitely be back.

Our family had the privilege of staying at this beautiful, well maintained condo located in the equally beautiful resort of HaliI Kai. We have nothing but wonderful memories. We would highly recommend renting this property and would not hesitate to return in the future. The owners were very nice and accommodating especially when we had to modify our dates due to a unexpected airline schedule change. If you are looking for a peaceful holiday with the comforts of home you need to look no further!

We stayed for a week and enjoyed it very much. The condo is spacious. Convenient location. Beach chairs, tennis racquets, basketball and beach towels made for easy recreation. Definitely would stay here again and recommend to others.
