The Neighborhood:
Flamingo is a high-end beachfront community notable for its dazzling ocean views and the beautiful, hilly peninsula that juts out into the Pacific, separating Playa Potrero from Playa Flamingo.
Flamingo is home to a wide array of stunning homes and vacation rentals, as well as humbler lodging options, and it has restaurants, grocery stores, banks and other conveniences.
A brand-new, state-of-the-art marina opened to the public in 2022, with slips for yachts and fishing boats, condos for rent and all kinds of shops and restaurants. Other major developments here include the 360 Splendor del Pacifico luxury condominiums on top of the North Ridge, the Margaritaville Beach Resort, and the upscale Mar Vista housing development, where there’s an excellent private school called La Paz.
Good restaurants in town include the Coco Loco, a beachfront eatery known for its coconut drinks and standout cuisine; Marie’s, a reliable standard with a long and enticing menu; Angelina’s, featuring fine Italian dining in an elegant environment; and several options at the Margaritaville, including the 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill.
Flamingo was largely developed by foreigners, and it lacks the traditional Costa Rican downtown with a soccer field plaza, church and school. The heart of town is an upscale commercial plaza with stone steps, fountains, restaurants and shops. Farther away on the road to Brasilito, you’ll find smaller restaurants, hotels, banks, hardware stores and the Super Massai grocery store.
Flamingo is more or less the centerpiece of a beautiful coastline stretching from the Reserva Conchal resort in the south to the Las Catalinas resort in the north, with the more traditional Costa Rican towns of Brasilito and Potrero in between. Flamingo is within easy striking distance of several beaches, including Conchal, Flamingo, Potrero, Penca, Prieta, Pan de Azucar and Danta.
Getting Around:
Our agents will be happy to assist you with renting a car, giving you the freedom to explore the area where you want, when you want. For short drives to nearby towns or beaches, golf carts are another popular mode of transportation. You can also rent a bicycle to ride around in town or beyond.
We can arrange transfers to and from the airport. Rental cars can also be delivered to your property at no additional cost, allowing you to relax and enjoy the scenery as our private van drives you here from the airport.
Taxis are available but can be a bit hard to find. Many locals use buses to get around, though there are a limited number of routes and times of day when you can catch them. Private shuttles can be a great option for traveling to nearby destinations, and many tour companies offer transportation to and from the tour. Our information brochure will provide you with useful information on local transportation options and points of interest, as well as contact information for taxis and shuttles.
Other Things to Note:
Special Places of Costa Rica is committed to protecting our properties and keeping up-to-date with short-term rental regulations, which is why you will be asked to complete our independent verification. Before your stay begins, you will need to verify your details with us to complete your booking. You will be contacted via email and/or text to complete the verification. You will also be given the choice between paying a refundable deposit or buying a non-refundable damage waiver. We suggest you buy the damage waiver as this protects you in case you cause accidental damage during a booking.

ACCESS ISSUES:
We were delayed settling in on day 1 due to communication issues from the condo on how to access the unit, lack of cleanliness, and maintenance items. Had to message VRBO several times, drive around PF marina to find the office all to no avail, until well after check-in the onsite coordinator showed up.
CLEANLINESS:
We noticed the “clean” bed sheets had long hairs from the previous guests. The “soaker tub” was horribly unclean with multiple stains, and the faucet was broke/leaking. The sofa had sweat and blood stains.
Owner (foreign property buyer Kenny Segers) is aware of issues and won't fix apparently. Staff were helpful, and are probably VERY underpaid.
More:
The bed was super uncomfortable.
The fridge was missing all of its door rails. Nothing could be stored in the door.
The jacuzzi and pool had lots of bees/flies/leaves in it. Morning staff cleaned this up, but there was no staff later in the day it was usually bad again by late afternoon.
The dollar store shower curtain rod was broken and barely held the curtain up. It has no tension left, and cannot push against the wall to stay up.
The grounds are not secure (parking, pool access, even inside the condo stairwell) all open to the public.
Ocean view is obscured by telephone wires/trees, etc.
Lots of stairs, and uphill walking. Pack lightly, or choose another space if you don't want to drag your luggage up outdoor steps, and 4-5 flights of stairs from the parking lot to the condo.

We were checking into The Westin for a business trip and decided to travel into CR early and stayed here. It was exactly what we wanted/needed. We rented a golf cart from Pablo on site and went beach/bar hopping and highly recommend doing that. Had coffee at the marina. Taco’s at Amigos and breakfast at a great place at the marina. Stayed 2 nights. There was only one tiny bottle of shampoo/conditioner/body wash for both of us (for 3 showers each). We went and asked the management office for additional and they do not provide any. We went and bought all at the store just below. It was extremely hot during our visit. AC worked great! Pool is just below the unit. Management Office was extremely helpful. I would get the golf cart on your own though (not through management company). It was a great experience and glad we extended our CR trip and included Flamingo Beach.

It's been six years since we stayed at Playa Flamingo and this condo offered us the best opportunity to enjoy the Flamingo we remembered, the Mardi Gras celebration, and to see the new marina area and it's shops.
We were not disappointed. Two thumbs up!

good value and good location. The lock on the door is a little squirrelly. it was constantly trying to lock itself automatically and was a little annoying

We loved the locality of the condo to the beach, car and golf cart rentals, grocery stores, restaurants and shops around the Plaza and the Marina. It was a small place but the pool and view were awesome. Perfect for just 2 adults! We had a fantastic time!
5.0 / 5.0
Great location! Can walk to the beach in 5 minutes as well as many restaurants and shops. Amigos Tacos and a small grocery store (albeit with higher prices due to convenience) are right across the street. Safe neighborhood, great if you just want to chill in Flamingo or if you want to plan day trips to Conchal and Brasilito (20 min drive) or Tamarindo (45 min drive). Hot water in the shower and had everything needed for cooking. Pool was clean.

The property management (Special Places of Costa Rica) concierge, Carlos, was wonderful, as was the rest of the staff. They were always reachable, attentive and our requests and concerns were addressed in a timely manner. The groundskeeper, Eddy, kept the common areas spotless, especially the pool. Our only recommendation is that the owners of the condo where we spent 10 days, spend a little time and money revitalizing the unit. We will be back!

Really enjoyed our stay in this condo. Location was perfect, felt safe in the neighborhood and was perfect having the market and the best tacos across the street. The bed is firm/hard and uncomfortable if you are one to need a softer bed so that is definitely something to consider but we still enjoyed and was pleased with our stay.

Spent a few days here and it was great. Perfect location to beach, shops and restaurants. Pool was relaxing and the sunrises were stunning.

This condo was perfect. Top floor views, there’s a little pool in the middle of the buildings that is perfect to plop into on a hot day, walking distance to the beach, clean, quiet and safe. There are quite a few steps to get up to the condo, however, just a heads up if you have mobility limitations. But otherwise 10 out of 10!!

Room and property looked exactly as they did in the photographs online. Overall the room was simple and had everything I needed, but is in need of a paint job and a picture on the wall to give it some colour and interest. Supermarket across the street is a convenient. Flamingo Beach is a safe 5 minute walk down the road. 4 or 5 restaurants nearby. Nice view of the marina from balcony.

Playa Flamingo Condo with Marina View
Great location as can walk to restaurants and beach. Unit could use some TLC and outdated, but clean and very well stocked. Photos of unit accurate. Pool is nice, but was closed for cleaning 1 of 4 days - disappointing. Got note on car window that parking was for residence only, so wrote unit #231 on it and continued parking in same spot.
2.0 / 5.0
Place needs lots of TLC
.Not deep cleaned
Lots of knives but none could cut a lemon
Fridge door non useable
Some lights not working
Coffee pot missing top
Noise coming from Marina’s construction
Required to be advised when cleaning service will come to no avail.

Everything was just as described. The property management team was awesome.
We had an issue with our scheduled arrival and departure dates. We had to cut the trip short by 3 days at the very last minute. It had nothing to do with the management or owners. But we presented the situation, they understood and refunded 3 days. Because it was last minute and we were in the nonrefunable period, they did not have to do it but they did. Very reasonable of them.
The location is great. Watch awesome sunrises. It was walking distance to everything.
Highly recommend this place.

Right in the heart of Flamingo. Short walk to the beach. A nice view of the mountains and the new marina. (Under construction)

perfect location
This is a very well-appointed condo - full kitchen, comfortable sofa and chair and a lovely view of the marina. It is conveniently located to the beach, marina, restaurants and a small grocery store across the street. I would warn older clients that there are a few stairs to climb.

Good location!!
Overall I really liked this condo. Was well equipped with everything. It’s on the 3rd storey with several steps so if you have issues with stairs it’s quite the climb. There are restaurants nearby, a little grocery store across the street and the beach is within walking distance. The view was spectacular as long as you don’t look down to the street below. The pool was great. We had it to ourselves most times we were there. The sunsets there are absolutely gorgeous but you have to walk to the beach to see them which we didn’t mind. The sunrise however you can see from your balcony and they’re beautiful. Playa Flamingo is a beautiful area but a car is definitely recommended. Lots of restaurants and about a half hour to Tamarindo.

Loved the views from this well equipped condo. It took a few days to get used to all the stairs though (counted several times...about 75 from street to room). Incredibly convenient location. Grocery store right across the street, three restaurants right around the corner. Car rental almost next door. Beach a five minute walk....Loved how quiet Flamingo is compared to some other places we went back to visit (Tamarindo is way too busy these days) Super helpful staff at Special Places Costa Rica (property management ) Only problem I had was the cleaning staff loves strong smelling chemicals which gave me a headache. ..next time I'll remember to ask just to have the linens changed. It only took me about 10 minutes every day to keep the place clean.Overall because this trip was really about r&r it was perfect. If we were to stay longer , you'd definitely need a car. A little too far to walk to the larger grocery store that sold meat etc. We took a taxi once and he waited while we shopped. Only cost 3000 colones...so not expensive at all.

A Condo in Paradise - 4.5 Stars!
My stay was fantastic! It was my first time in Costa Rica, and Special Places of Costa Rica - Vacation Rental and Management was very helpful. They provided assistance regarding my needs related to the condo as well as arranging excursions. Phem was the best!
The condo was fully furnished, including a full array of kitchen appliances and accessories. In addition, cleaning people come in once a week to change sheets/towels and thoroughly clean the place. The pictures show all! It is truly marvelous for 1-2 people.
The condo location was perfect for me. Playa Flamingo is a quiet beach town. The condo is nestled between the two beaches in Playa Flamingo - only 5 minutes walk in either direction. There is a lazy street right in front of the condo, which is a bit unsightly - but not enough to detract from the beautiful sunrise and beach views.
In addition, my condo had a large veranda which overlooks the pool/jacuzzi as well as one of the local beaches. Being on the top (3rd) floor was also provided a better view, more breezes and less noise/distractions from other tenants. (There appears to be six apartments in the building.)
Taking a local bus or short (5-10) minute ride to Potrero or Brasilito gives you a little more restaurant/sensible night-life. And, a 30-minute drive takes you to Tamarindo, which is a like a Fort Lauderdale town with great surf as well as many shops, restaurants and a vivacious night-life.
Costa Rica provides you approximately 12 hours of sunshine each and every day. Playa Flamingo is in the dryer, sunnier part of the country. The weather every day was simply spectacular! You can travel to the volcanic mountains (to see the waterfalls), rivers (for rafting) and rain forests (to see the abundant wildlife), where it is a bit more rainy. But, having the base camp in a sunny, beach climate simply cannot be beat!
I will be coming back for sure! Both the condo and Special Places made it a vacation to fondly remember!
