About this house rental
Rates include taxes and cleaning.
Casa Mirador sits on a cliff overlooking Punta Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park. It is a 10-15 minute walk to both Playa Espadilla and 15-20 Playa Biesanz. Playa Espadilla is great for surfing and body boarding while Playa Biesanz is more protected and better for snorkeling and swimming.
The house was designed by an award-winning architect to bring the area’s natural beauty right into the house. There are breathtaking views from every window and terrace. Even the bathroom has a spectacular view. A tropical forest surrounds the back of the house providing privacy and a front row seat to Costa Rica’s exotic plants and wildlife.
The house has two bedrooms on the second floor and can easily sleep four people. There is a queen sized bed in one room and two twin beds in the other. There are several private terraces, including one in the master bedroom. The architect designed the house in a European style. It is simple and elegant in its construction and furnishings. The house is mostly suitable for those who do not require lavish amenities, as there is no TV or air-conditioning. You will find however, that air conditioning is not necessary as the house sits on the top of a ridge and enjoys a constant fresh ocean breeze. Numerous windows and ceiling fans also provide for excellent ventilation.
Casa Mirador is a place to relax and appreciate Costa Rica’s natural beauty. In the morning, you will awaken to the exotic songs of rainforest birds and the sounds of the rolling waves of the sea below. Occasionally, you will hear howler monkeys in the distance (sometimes not so distant) giving their morning salutations. Often there are toucans in the palm trees around the house. If you’re lucky, you might even see white-faced monkeys, squirrel monkeys or sloths dangling and jumping from the trees around the house. There are identification cards in the house as well so you will know what type of animal you are viewing - from mammals to birds to amphibians to butterflies.
You can have your morning coffee on the terrace and enjoy the fresh breeze as you take in the spectacular view of Manuel Antonio and Playa Espadilla. It is a short 10-15 minute walk downhill to Espadilla Beach below the houses and an additional 15-20 minute walk along the beach to Manuel Antonio and the road to the National Park.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a stove/oven, microwave oven, toaster oven, refrigerator, coffee-maker, blender, and all plates, pots, pans, utensils, etc. The house has a telephone in the living room area. There is one full bathroom and also an outside shower. There is hot water throughout the house, including the outside shower. Sheets and towels will be changed once each full week of your stay. This can be done more often upon request. There are plenty of towels for showering and larger beach towels for outside use.
The houses are gay and family friendly and the owners and caretakers welcome everyone to enjoy the property.
Restrictions
Please note that the house sits on a ridge and is only accessible by a series of approximately 110 steps leading from the parking area up to the house. This can make it a moderate physical endeavor. As such, it might not be the best choice for people who are physically restricted. The walk up the stairs, however, is rewarding as it provides you with the fantastic view on top. There is an electric elevator basket that runs up the side of the hill the to the houses, but it was constructed to carry luggage and supplies only. The caretaker will take charge of getting all of your luggage to the house. You need only take your body up the stairs. The steepness of the terrain, the stairs (outside and inside the house), and the high balconies and terraces may make the house unsafe for children under a certain age. Please refrain from smoking inside the house.
Area
Manuel Antonio National Park is one of Costa Rica 's best known and most often visited parks. The area is home to over 353 species of birds. Howler and white-faced monkeys, two-toed and three-toed sloths, coati-mundi and raccoons frequent the beaches in and outside the Park.
The National Park area offers some of the best beaches on Costa Rica's Pacific coast for surfing, swimming and snorkeling. Within the area, there is much to enjoy; bird watching, hiking, kayaking, horseback riding, and boat trips for fishing or to watch dolphins.
Located besides the town of Quepos in the Central Pacific Zone, the area is one of the most beautiful in Costa Rica.

Had an amazing time and loved the house. Saw monkeys, birds and a sloth all from the balcony, the animals came up really close.loved the open window shower so you could look right out into the rainforest. It is up a lot of steps but it is doable.

Oscar was very helpful and helping us move our luggage. The home was absolutely gorgeous. The views were incredible. The kitchen was well stocked. We saw a monkey as we were staying at the home.

Condominium Biesanz was a great place to spend 2 days. The view is worth every penny. You do have over 100 stairs to climb to get to the accommodation but it was great that a conveyor belt caged platform was there to take luggage up.
We arrived after dark and had a lot of difficulty finding the place. You are given a page of instructions relating where the place is to other landmarks instead of a direct address that you could put into google maps. It would be helpful if at least a sign was situated where the parking is to show the name of the place and VRBO. The name of the place was another issue because it’s seems to have many. If you put Casa Miradour into Google Maps it takes you to a totally wrong place in Manuel Antonio.
Once we found it and got situated it fast became our favourite place to stay in MA.
A huge gracias to Bismarck and his wife who stay there. They patiently waited for us to arrive very late, dealt with our luggage and ensured we were settled in. Remarkable couple.

This property offers, one of the, if not THE best, views of the entirety of Manuel Antonio. It is set up very high above the town and beaches and catches every little breeze available. We visited throughout the month of February 2024 and the heat and humidity was probably at its height so we were always happy to get back to our little Casa at the end of our walks and beach visits. Mornings and evenings here were particularly spectacular. The property custodian and his lovely family could not have been more hospitable and helpful. He has created a veritable Garden of Eden around the house by planting multiple varieties of fruit trees that attract monkeys, macaws and other animals. Each morning we were awakened by nature, a most beautiful experience. Each evening we would sit on the deck to watch gorgeous sunsets and boats of all sorts drifting by while we listened to the sound of waves crashing. I won't be able to do it justice but suffice it to say we loved every minute of our stay there. The property is well described in terms of amenities so you can trust the owner's information. If you are going to stay in Manuel Antonio, I can't recommend it highly enough. The owner was kind enough to suggest a driver for us as we did not wish to rent a vehicle while we were there. We would also highly recommend this gentleman who transported us safely between San Jose and Manuel Antonio for a very reasonable fee. Great stay!

We absolutely loved everything. Stayed for a week and a half, did day tours and then relaxed at restaurants, beach, around town. Bismarck and his wife were so lovely and kind. The view was spectacular (the sunset!) and we had little visitors early in the morning while we had coffee on the deck. My son and I would very much like to return in the future. ❤️

We felt safe with the caretaker on the foot of the hill with his dog guarding. After a lot of steps, you are rewarded with the most amazing view from the house. You have a view wherever you are in the house. You are likely to see monkeys and parrots. The caretaker was very friendly. This was the best place during our stay in Costa Rica.

My adult kids & I loved our 3 night stay. The property is clean, has a comfortable unique (in a good way) layout & has gorgeous views! It’s a great location too! My favorite was getting up early to hear the howler monkeys. We never missed not having A/C. There are lots of windows & balconies. Know there truly are stairs but our host Bismarck was very helpful getting luggage up & down. We want to return to Manuel Antonio & would definitely stay here again.

Our stay was magical! There was so much nature, monkeys, birds and capybara. We could have stay at the house ALL day and watched nature around us. The views are breathtaking. I’m going to miss my morning coffee views. Honestly, we couldn’t have stayed at a better home.
The location is walking distance to two beaches, we walked to both. We bought groceries and made most our meals at the house. The kitchen has everything you need to cook meals. We did eat at Emilio’s one night, it’s wonderful and the desserts are to die for!!
We’re going to miss this place so much ❤️

This place is even better than it looks, I’m convinced it has the best view of all of Manuel Antonio. The check in process was also super easy as well as checkout. The beach is walkable and is only a few minute drive from the National Park. Our favorite thing was the wildlife we could see from the house though. Every morning monkeys climbed the trees just outside the house and one of the trees nearby was a favorite of a pair of macaws who spent time eating there on two different days. The inside of the house is also very nice and has a nice kitchen and comfortable beds. All around amazing place and if you’re visiting Manuel Antonio this is the place to be!

Absolutely loved our stay in the treehouse and couldn't have wished for a better place end our Costa Rican holiday.
The house was magical, amazing wildlife literally on the balcony and spectacular views. Plus great location to walk to the beach or into town.
Bismark and his family were extremely helpful and friendly.
Couldn't recommend this place more.
Thank you!

The location is great because it has amazing views and it's close to town so you can walk to restaurants, yoga, etc. a little too far to walk to the park but close to two nice beaches !!

Manuel Antonio Perfect Property
We had their most amazing time here at this beautifully located property which is far enough away from the main tourist road leading into the park but close to some superb restaurants and also located on the top of a hill so you get the most amazing views of both bays. We saw monkeys leaping from the rooftops even before we had chance to open the front door. The wildlife procession continued with toucans and maccaws flying by regularly. Waking up to howler monkeys was just fab. If you dont mind the steps-we didn’t-this place is absolutely perfect. We would love to return.

Dreaming of my next stay here
Where do I begin? Words can not describe how special Casa Mirador is. The views, the sounds of the ocean, the fresh air, macaws flying by, monkeys foraging around the terrace. On top of the incredible surroundings the whole interior of the house is gorgeous! It was hard to leave even to go to the beach. Which was a ten minute walk down a gravel road. Town was a five minute walk. Bismarck was so accommodating and it was really nice knowing he was around if we had any questions. I can not wait to return and stay much much longer. Until next time! :)

Unforgettable experience
Highly recommend this property if you want a unique, authentic experience during your time in Manuel Antonio. The view is simply too amazing for words. We saw so much wildlife right from the back deck - monkeys, parrots, macaws, hummingbirds, toucans and a even a sloth. It was surreal to wake up to watch the sunrise listening to howler monkeys. We didn’t rent a car, and we were able to walk or taxi to restaurants, beaches and the park just fine. Julie recommended a wonderful driver who picked us up from the airport and even stopped so we could get groceries. Yes, there are a lot of steps and no AC, but it truly was not a problem for us because the ocean breeze feels amazing and the view is so worth it. My teenagers didn’t even complain! Bismark the caretaker and his family were so kind and helpful. My only regret is that our trip was cut short due to a flight delay.

The views from this house are amazing, it was hard to leave, even to go for dinner. The on property care taker is very friendly and everything was in good working order. Tons of wildlife seem fro the balcony and beautiful sunsets.

Perfect Costa Rica experience
Our stay at Manuel Antonio was at the end of a two week adventure from Arenal to Monteverde to Playa Hermosa and finally Manuel Antonio. The best was saved for last. It's hard to describe how wonderful our stay was. We saw more wildlife than in any of our park visits. Every day at 5:00 there was a "monkey avalanche"...a troop of 15 - 20 monkeys cascaded out the trees above us on their way to the beach. Toucans and parrots put on a glorious show with the parrots doing multiple fly-overs during Happy Hour and the toucans having a loud conversation while we ate lunch one day.
The 100 steps up to the house were not a problem for our over-70 year old legs with several flat breaks in the climb.
Our caretaker, Bismark, and his family were a delight and made us feel very welcome. And Julie was responive to any questions we had.

Great Way to Experience Manuel Antonio
This property has an amazing location...in the midst of the beaches, restaurants and fun of Manuel Antonio, yet set up and out of the way. (Yes, the steps and hiking will help keep you in shape.) It's like living in a zoo. The birds, monkeys and wildlife will wake you up and keep you entertained throughout the day. We rented a car, in hindsight, I don't think I would - we didn't use it much once we arrived and the hassle and expense of getting one in San Jose seemed unnecessary. The veiw is amazing, the kitchen is great for cooking, and Bismark is truly amazing. The bed seemed smaller than a queen, but maybe that was just me. I would rent here again - it was great.

Sunsets in a tree house
My whole family all agreed that this was our favorite lodging for our vacation. We felt at home as soon as we walked in the door. The house is well equipped with ceiling and standing fans so you feel a soft warm breeze night and day. We looked forward to climbing the stairs everyday for a quick workout. Each evening we met on the balcony for happy hour and a spectacular sunset. The beach is close by. Yummy restaurants are near. Manuel Antonio Park is near. The Scarlet Macaws fly by constantly. We could hear the Howler Monkeys but they never visited us. We were sad to check out.

Awesome property
We highly enjoyed our 4 nights at this "tree house." The property is so unique and ranks, in the words of my ten year old son, as "the coolest place we've ever stayed." We saw more animals up close from the deck here than we saw the rest of our trip. Macaws, tucans, red backed squirrel monkeys, and other birds. The views and sunsets were amazing. The house was clean and spacious. We ate breakfast here almost every day and walked up the hill to town for our other meals. This was our home base for a number of activities: rafting, hiking in Manuel Antonio NP, and visiting the beach. We liked Playa Espadilla best, but the walk in the jungle to Playa Beisanz was also fun. The descriptions are accurate - there are a lot of stairs to access the property. There is no A/C. Depending on which way the wind is blowing, you will be hot. The birds are loud and the sun is bright so it's hard to sleep in. But, we loved this place. Bismark and his family were very friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to book this property if we ever make our way back to Costa Rica. I hope we do before too long. :)

Paradise
A beautiful property with lots of character and incomparable views! We did not have a car and walked all over. Do bring shoes that work for walking/water--flip flops are not the best footwear for the inclines you will walk. Playitas beach at the bottom of the adjacent dirt road was unreal! Tons of wildlife and birds--don't forget the binoculars! If you are looking for an air conditioned compound sort of place this will not be your best bet. If you are looking to feel more like part of a place, this property is amazing!

Perfect
The location is absolutely amazing. A little hard to find in the dark. But waking up in the morning, the views are breathtaking. Quick walk to Espadilla Beach or the hidden beach-Biesanz Beach. Bismarck, the caretaker, was such a sweetheart. Nowhere else can you wake up in the morning with a cup of coffee and see parrots perched in the palms right outside your window or monkeys climbing in the trees above. I could not recommend this place enough

2nd time we are there and would surely go back. Though stairs could be challenging, one is rewarded with the home and beautiful views. Bismark is exceptional too!

Great place!
We totally loved our stay here. The house was the perfect size. Bismarck (and his dogs!) was great and so helpful. It’s a beautiful area. Only thing I’d do to improve the house would be to replace the refrigerator which was a little small and old. Overall a great stay!

Can’t say enough good things about this place! The location was great for getting around to everything in Manuel Antonio. Walking distance to beaches and restaurants. The caretaker, Bismarck and his family were very helpful and friendly and always available. The views from the balconies were unforgettable and the walk up the stairs through the garden jungle were always enjoyable. Many animals could be heard and seen all through the day (including everyday at sunrise, which we quickly got used to and now miss)! We utilized the full kitchen and enjoyed many of our meals out on the balcony. Would definitely go back if we get the chance and bring our kids next time!

Wonderful home! Great location!
Great place to serve as a base for Manuel Antonio! Beaches, restaurants and stores are walking distance. The home itself has a lot of character. The design truly makes it perfect to feel and hear the outdoors while inside. Stairs aside - which we took as great exercise - we loved every bit of our stay!!!

Beautiful location, great views.
The property was a little confusing to find, as you park on the road below and cannot trally see the houses. Once there everything was perfect—great views, very tranquil.

Best view ever!!!!
I don't think its possible to say enough about the view! Stunning is the only thing I can think of. If you picture a view of paradise, this would be it. The stairs up only made it seem more remote and exotic.

So Good!
Such a beautiful and unique property oozing with pura vida style. I treated my niece, sister and 69 year old mom to their first Costa Rican get away February of 2020 (timed just before Covid-19 pandemic restrictions). This little house was better than expected. The location was perfect for us, with easy walkable access to the two main beaches as well as restaurants, groceries and bus stops. We walked to the beach daily and ate most of our meals in because the kitchen is fully stocked and eating on the balconies was blissful. We tool the bus to Quepos a coulple of times, super easy and cheap. Bismark also took us into Quepos a couple of times for shopping at the big grocery store, fish market and farmers market. We rented a car for one day to explore nearby waterfalls and Dominical (I recommend Adobe car rental, very honest, kind staff). We were there during one of the warmest times of year and did not miss air conditioning, but we are a rugged bunch. We actually enjoyed the long stairway as a means to combat the extra vacation calories! We spotted a sloth near the stairway in the trees multiple times as well as squirrel monkeys!!! Tons of wildlife sightings on this property. The only drawback was weekday noise from nearby construction, which also effected the wild life activity.

Costa Rican Charm!
Our family stayed here during spring break, March 2020, and we loved it! The beauty of the stairs is that you climb within trees placing the house in a prime location to view wildlife up close and personal. I really enjoyed waking up with the sunrise (beautiful!) to see a wide variety of birds and endless entertainment of red-backed squirrel monkeys. The band of monkeys had two babies with them and our daughter couldn't get enough. We also had the pleasure of seeing a two-toed sloth on the property and scarlet macaws.
The house was clean and we found it very comfortable. We enjoyed a lot of time by the beach. The first day we walked to the beach but found the gravel road a bit slippery for our daughter so we drove down which wasn't an issue with a high clearance vehicle. The beach was perfect, there are trees for a shady place to sit and the beach is nice and sandy with warm water. We found it the best beach to play. We also went down to the beach at night with flashlights and found tons of crabs.
The care takers of the property are very sweet and accommodating. Our daughter loved to pal around with their dogs and cat.
There are plenty of restaurants nearby, several within walking distance. Manuel Antonio Park was a short drive away - since we were visiting during COVID-19, the park wasn't very busy. We actually saw more wildlife while at the house but the park was really beautiful.
We can't wait to return and stay here again!

Great Views and Service
The house was clean and spacious enough for the three of us. The views from the balconies and the bedrooms were awesome, the squirrel monkeys were fun to watch in the trees and on the balconies at times. Proximity to the beaches is great, walk or drive.
Bizmark, the care taker, and his family were there to help with anything we asked for.
They even handled our luggage when we checked in and out.
There are 123 steps to get to our unit which made for a good daily exercise. The unit is one of 5 or 6 nestled up in a hill that can’t be seen from the street. Overall, great experience. We loved it!
The only downside was the bathrooms aren’t really two bathrooms, one full bath and a shower outside the house.

STAIRS
Unless you are Very young or only intending to leave the house once a day, the 120 steps to the house from a small parking area at the base of the hill is not for you. The suit cases had to be lifted on a hillilator like lift to get to rental. Then once inside there are steep, steps to the second floor bedrooms and only bath. My brother in law who has bad hips and knees struggled to get up. Once up , the living room floor had an infestation of ants that kept crawling up our legs as we sat there. We did not stay, even though, we only sat on the counch to decide what to do, the owner, would not return my full payment. Did return one night.
View was great

Relaxing
LOVED the property, the view and noises. SO relaxing. Highlight was 2 sloths on our departure day. We were ok with no AC and the stairs to our house but not for everyone. Definitely worth the view and the peace/quiet. We will return and recommend to friends. The caretaker and his son were fabulous and spotted the sloths for us! LOVED every minute :)

Adventure Travellers look no further
I admit I was a little apprehensive about booking a place with no AC, but just do it, you will not regret it.
If you think no TV on vacation is a good thing, if you are reasonably fit and don't mind a few stairs, if you like to EXPERIENCE vacations and not just GO on vacations, then this is the place for you. No A/C was no problem. I hate to be too hot, but I did fine. All the windows have screens, mosquitoes were not a problem for us in late April. The wildlife is unbeatable- Toucans, McCaws, hummingbirds, motmots, all types of monkeys, almost every morning and evening. Taking coffee with my squirrel monkey buddies leaping by and wrestling on the deck at my feet was amazing. No A/C, no problem. Yes it was a bit muggy some nights, but never unbearably hot, and falling asleep to cicadas and frogs while waking to tropical birds and howler monkeys was a pleasure.
If you are in Costa Rica to have a stereotypical American Hawaii or Florida vacation just in a different country, then go to an air conditioned hotel with a pool, air conditioning, and TV for the kids.
If you are in Cota Rica for the adventure, then this is the place. Be fit- the stairs are for real, but usually a rewarding hike on their own. The walk to the beaches is also pretty easy, (but save some energy for the walk back up the hill). The walk up the hill to the many good restaurants is also easy, allowing you to enjoy a margarita or 3 and not worry about driving home. The drive to Quepos or to Manuel Antonio park is also very easy, and parking is not too difficult. But honestly, other than sloths, I saw more wildlife, up close, without crowds, from the deck of the house than I saw in the park, even paying for a guide.

Even more beautiful than the pictures!
We stayed for three nights at Casa Mirador and were thrilled with our experience. Julie (the owner) was quick to respond to questions about the area as well as transportation suggestions. Once we arrived, Bismark (the caretaker), his family, and their two dogs, Blanquita and Toby, added to our experience. We felt like we were immersed in the local culture, but still had the help of an actual local to guide us! Bismark does not speak much English and we do not speak much Spanish, but we worked it out and he was a delight to talk to. As indicated in the description of the property, there are a lot of stairs to reach the amazing views this place offers. There is a contraption that ran our luggage up to the house which was very convenient! We really didn't mind the stairs...they were part of our adventure (plus the garden surrounding the stairs was beautiful). The entire town is hilly so you can't be afraid of some stairs!
Oh the place! It was so beautiful. The gorgeous wood, the colorful paint and tiles, the comfortable bedding and seating area were all fantastic. We didn't spend too much time sitting down, though. We were enthralled with watching the families of monkeys (spider monkeys and the white-faced kind) making their morning trek through the trees and across the roof to the beach and then back mid-day. The toucans came to visit by the back porch and also could be seen hanging out in the tree beside the shower. The howler monkeys could be heard talking to eachother in the distance all through our trip, but we did not see one. The views from all windows and doors were literally fantastic. This is a gem of a property!
There are multiple beaches within walking distance (or a short cab ride), plenty of food options within walking distance (we really enjoyed Agua Azul), and of course Manuel Antonio Park, which is a short taxi ride away. My son & husband took a fishing charter in Quepos, catching 7 110+ pound sailfish and 3 tuna. They brought one of the tunas home and we used the kitchen (well stocked) to make a home cooked meal.
We came in late April which I believe is the hottest month of the year in Costa Rica. The weather forecast was as expected but the overhead fans and the additional strong oscillating fans provided at the house kept us comfortable. Additionally, opening the windows and doors provided a nice tropical breeze. We love this property and will definitely book again the next time we are in Manuel Antonio!

too hot and no AC
this is an amazing small house with gorgeous view. However keep in mind it is way too hot in the house with no AC. At some point it was +35 degrees. We are fit and active family but the heat was not safe. In addition, there are bugs. This is more like glamping. Would be fine for couple nights but we stayed there for 4 nights and found it was a bit too much to handle between the heat and the bugs. In addition, monkeys were jumping on top of the house being loud. My husband woke up couple times from the noise they made
Sometimes they stair at you in the window.
Another issue was privacy. Main bedroom had 2 open windows to the main stairway which took all the privacy away.
