Charming Studio Cabin with wood-burning stone fireplace, kitchenette with toaster oven/air fryer, coffee maker, mini-refrigerator, sink, well-stocked cabinets, bath with shower, one Queen bed, Cable TV, AT&T cell service on-site, fast Wi-Fi, living and dining areas. Originally built as a writer's studio, the cabin is nestled in an apple orchard, separated from main house on three acre property. Walk to beautiful Silver Lake State Park for beach, picnicking, swimming, kayaking, fishing, paddle-boating, canoeing, hiking on miles of trails or to Barnard Village, a quintessential Vermont town right on the lake. Visit the Barnard General Store where 'if they don't have it, you don't need it'! A variety of restaurants, galleries, farmers' markets and shops in the area. This is complete getaway from the world, relaxing, quiet, yet a short drive to all the attractions in Woodstock, Killington, Waitsfield, Montpelier or even Stowe and Burlington. Barnard is a special mountain village with vistas to the north and west and close to the famed Route 100, following the spine of the Green Mountains.

Keep in mind you are on the owner's property, but they are very good about keeping to themselves and giving you your space. The owners are wonderful to talk to, so we didn't mind it so much.
We enjoyed our stay at this cozy little cabin. It's very clean, peaceful, and inviting. The indoor space is small, but functional. The outdoor area is lovely, but not overly private. The firepit is great and stars are amazing at night.
Not a deal breaker, but there was no sink in the bathroom (used the kitchen sink) or microwave in the kitchen.
The cabin is within a short drive to quaint towns, dining, and activities. The in-town general store was walkable and came in handy.

We loved our stay in Barnard. Doreen was so kind and helpful in getting us set up when we arrived, then gave us our space. We loved the beautiful cabin, the surrounding wildlife, and the town, and we took advantage of the quaint (and well-stocked) general store and its fabulous bulletin board. We can’t wait to stay again!

The owner exudes a genuine warm welcome and the place is uniquely Vermont. Our Sunday to Monday stay was perfect with awesome weather and just one day of heavy rain.

Wonderful atmosphere. Quiet, Comfortable, Cozy. The stone fireplace surrounded by knotty pine boards. Beautiful clear sky at night with the Milky Way arching overhead. The leaves of the apple trees falling in the light breeze. A very peaceful setting.

Gorgeous cabin out in the woods in Vermont but not too far from some great hikes and cute small towns. Doreen is an excellent host. The cabin is well cared for and has great wifi. The stars are an amazing sight on a clear night!

Wedding weekend
I booked this property for myself for the day’s leading up to my wedding and for my husband and I the night after until our honeymoon. Doreen is a wonderful hostess and pays great attention to detail. She was extremely kind, warm and welcoming. If we have the opportunity to come back to the area- we will definitely want to stay there. The cottage is cozy and perfect for a couple. The fireplace in October is amazing! Very highly recommend this property and hostess!

Just what we wanted.
My husband and I totally enjoyed our stay.. This cabin was everything we wanted and more. The owner Doreen was so kind and helpful. She thought of everything. If you are looking for a quiet cabin in the woods, this is it.

A Magical Place
I can't say enough about staying at this magical little cabin. It was perfect, starting with my personal greeting and tour by Doreen, who was as friendly and welcoming as she could be. The cabin is just the way it looks online- so charming and clean with everything that you could possibly need during your stay. Doreen even had a basket of treats that came in handy for those late at night cravings. The bed was super comfortable and there were plenty of extra blankets for cozying up by the fire. The view out of the windows, the apple tree and two green adirondack chairs, was a wonderful sight each morning for sitting and having a first cup of coffee. Also the coffee at the Woodstock Market was the best- it is their special brand!
One more thing- I grabbed a sandwich at the Cafe in Bethel each day since my workshop was in that area. Haven't had a better sandwich!
Can't wait to come back and stay in the red cabin!

Peaceful getaway
I stayed here for a couple of days after a business trip up in Burlington. I used it as a base for hiking, biking, and kayaking in nearby Silver Lake. The small space is very efficiently and comfortably arranged. Doreen was a great host and gave me good recommendations for places to go, and even loaned her kayak to me! I also enjoyed the outside sitting area at night, the stars were incredible.

Charming cabin
Located walking distance from the Barnard general store (great breakfasts, lunches and ice cream) and Silver Lake (wonderful swimming) this cosy cabin is perfect for 2! All of the amenities in a small but well designed space, and with beautiful outside sitting. Doreen is the perfect hostess - easily accessible but never interfering. We’ll come back!

Beautiful Barnard Retreat
Doreen was perfect host, helpful and generous. Cabin is lovely and perfect for 1 person or a couple. Very close to Barnard town center and a short drive to Bethel or Woodstock. The cabin is quiet and ideal. Highly recommended !!!

Lovely cabin in a peaceful location
I was looking for a comfortable place to stay while taking a course in nearby White River Junction. This cabin was cozy and peaceful, a perfect place to return to after studying hard during the day, and, had I not been learning all day, I would have loved to have spent some time at Silver Lake, which is close by, or gone tubing in the White River. The cabin itself was neat and clean, and the host was easy to communicate with during booking, check-in, and check-out, and the cabin was thoughtfully stocked with some snacks and bottled water when I arrived! I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a quiet getaway, close to the beauty of nature, with beautiful stars at night, good sleeping, and cheery birdsong to wake you in the morning!

Delightful, relaxing cabin in the woods
I can honestly say there is not one thing I would change about Doreen's cabin. She has put so much love into the exterior garden, the interior decor and amenities and the overall coziness of this property. Prior to arriving, Doreen's communication was quick and clear. When we arrived, she greeted us like old friends and had water and snacks waiting for us inside. Each night we had a quiet, restful night of sleep in the comfortable queen size bed. In the morning we sat with a cup of coffee in the inside chairs and used the speedy wifi to catch up with the world. In the evening, after a day of playing with our nearby grandkids, we relaxed in the outside chairs and listened to the breeze in the trees. Although we didn't build a fire in the fireplace, there is a faint smell of smoke, which really makes you feel like you're in a remote cabin.
We highly recommend Doreen's cabin for anyone wanting a totally relaxing, peaceful experience in beautiful Vermont.

Exactly What We Wanted
Everything about the property was exactly what we expected and more. Doreen is an excellent and attentive host. The cabin was a wonderful retreat with a very thoughtful floor plan. Kitchen area and bathroom were more than sufficient with many extra touches. The bed was so comfy. And we were lucky enough to use the fireplace which was awesome. We highly recommend this property and will definitely be back!

Peaceful setting
Comfortable, charming cottage that had everything needed for a relaxing mini vacation. We enjoyed the fire pit outside in the early evening, only to enjoy the beautiful fireplace inside later. The location was in great proximity to many things to do and visit. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Perfect cabin for a relaxing weekend
I can't speak highly enough of Doreen. She warmly greeted us the second we arrived and gave us a tour. She's so friendly and she had stocked the cabin with everything we could have needed. She even added flowers and a happy anniversary sign since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and she printed out a map for a hike she suggested. I loved how the cabin is decorated and it was the perfect spot to explore Vermont. I would highly recommend staying here.
