About this apartment rental
Casauina Point is located about 25 minutes south of Marsh Harbour. It's a spectacular beach that is one of the most beautiful in the Bahamas. It is an ideal area for walking, swimming, beach combing, snorkeling and kayaking. The beach is perfect for kids of any age as it never gets deep unless you wade far off shore. If you want to get lobsters, just take the kayak's out and start hunting.
It also is in the best area to be located for bone fishing on Abaco. Centrally located on the island, it is an easy drive to Sandy Point at the southern end of the island where you can fish Crossing Harbour, close to Snake Cay, a renowned area, and the flats off Duck Cay located a 5 minute boat ride from the cottages. Huge white sand flats will keep you on fish all day long. The cottage have a beautiful view of the ocean from your 30' screened porch. This unit has a queen bed, ensuite bathroom and fully equipped kitchen. The Great Room has 13' ceilings, 2 fans / lights, 32” flat screen, DVD/CD player, high speed Wi-Fi and central air.
The area is super safe ...... we don't ever lock doors!
Marsh Harbour offers every amenity. There are large super markets, excellent wine stores ( we recommend Bristol's or Jimmy's ) and many specialty shops.
Abaco is also famous for its Blue Holes, which are fresh water caves that run for thousands of feet underground through the limestone substrate that makes up the island. The cottages are very close to the Blue Holes. Divers come from around the world to explore this phenomena. See the August 2010 issue of National Geographic magazine for more info.
From Marsh Harbour, Albury's Ferry service will take you the wonderful Cays that are 10 – 15 minutes off shore. The historic settlements date back 300 years. Hope Town on Elbow Cay, Man o' War Cay and Guana Cay are well worth the trip.

Amazing week!
What a gorgeous place to relax! The home is clean and comfortable and the scenery is breathtaking! Chad (our host) is wonderful and generous. We loved taking the boat around hunting for conch and lobsters and snorkeling in the gorgeous Casuarina waters. Such a great trip. We will see you again, Chad. Thanks for everything!!

Very enjoyable time
Spent 2 weeks relaxing on the beach, fly fishing for bonefish, enjoying the peaceful location. Facilities are well kept and very clean. Enjoyed meeting Chad and sharing his stories and dogs Shasha and Sheeba, who visited every morning. They are adorable and even though we weren't dog people they were fun to have around. Incredible crab catchers! Luckily, we were the only renters, so we had the place to ourselves. The beach is truly incredible as was the fishing. We hope to be back.

We stayed at the Sand Dollar Cove Cottages for a week as part of a Bonefish fly fishing adventure with some very good friends of ours who had stayed there before. The cottages are absolutely beautiful, very clean, and have everything you could need for a week-long stay like ours. We spent each day fishing, three with local guides in the Marls (all of whom Chad knows personally) and three on our own on the flats just off the beach at our cottages. We used Chads boats to access the flats. The boats are all very serviceable, easy to operate, and got us out to the flats and back home when we were on our own. The fishing is technical but excellent! I design flies our business, Fly Fishing Extras (www. etsy.com/FlyFishingExtras) and Discountflies.com. I was testing new patterns (R&D, somebody has to do it!) Even though the Bonefish on that side of the island have a reputation for being well-schooled on artificial shrimp patterns and very discriminating in what they will take, I found them very accommodating and rate my pattern tests at SDC as highly successful. The fishing with the guides in the Marls was absolutely incredible! All the guides were professional, personable, and put us on fish in numbers I could hardly imagine. When we weren't fishing, we kayaked (chad has two for guests), tried paddle boarding (with only limited success staying on the board) or walked along the beach.
With the exception of one night when we went out to Pete's Pub for dinner and an awesome sunset, we made dinner at our cottages; grilling steaks, ribs and chicken. Groceries were readily available in Marsh Harbor at Maxwell's and we kept a good supply of beer and wine on hand from Bristol's liquor store.
All in all, our stay at Sand Dollar Cove Cottages was exceptional. But, the icing on the cake each day was the canine companionship of Chad's two dogs, Sasha and Sheba, who came over and spent a good portion of each day with us! Nothing like a couple of dogs to make you feel right at home! Oh, and Chad's a great guy, too!
We can hardly wait for our next visit to Abaco and the Sand Dollar Cove Cottages!

First off - let me say that we are only half way through our stay and I could not resist writing a review already. The best way I can describe Sand Dollar Cottages is to be off the grid with all the comforts of home. Chad, the owner, has thought of everything. Upon arrival the first thing I noticed was how immaculately clean our cottage was. I managed high end hotels for years so my standards are very high - our accomdations could not of been better. Our cottage comes with a 14' foot boat but we have found that is all we have needed as there is a lot to explore - other cays and beaches nearby that are not Inhabitated. As a matter of fact - one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen in my life - Little Bay - is just a short boat ride away and completely deserted. We have found it unnecessary to rent another boat or use the ferry service as we everywhere we want to go is right outside our door in casuarina point. Chad has plenty of water toys so you can swim, paddleboard, kayak, snorkel or fish right here. We have caught enough fish already to fed a small army - and that's in the off season with no guides! Several things I love about being here: Chad is on the property. He is a wealth of information and he will go out of his way to get you whatever you want or need if it's not here already. His dogs - Sasha and Sheba are friendly and come over to visit as often as you like. If you have pets at home you are missing - Sasha and Sheba are excellent fill in's. You will feel very comfortable here - everything in the house is easy to find, there is a fully equipped kitchen, wifi, linens, towels and lots of extra's. We are less then 25 minutes from Marsh Harbour and it's an easy ride (as long as you remember to drive on the left side). You do need a car though as we have had to and wanted to run into town for various things. Overall, there is nothing more we could of asked for on this vacation. We are already thinking of returning and our friends that would enjoy this place just as much
A few things to know:
- a car is highly recommended
- the bugs are BAD. Get bug spray on your way and rubbing alcohol as it soothes the itch immediately if you are bit.
- Groceries here are about three times the cost in the states. (I.e. A bag of oreo's is $9.00).
- Gas is about $6.00/gallon. Plan for that for the boat and car.
Overall - I think we have found a regular vacation spot and would highly recommend!!

Excellent property! The cottage was in great shape, clean, and close to all the things we wanted to do while we were there. If you want to see Abaco, the property was centrally located for visits to Treasure Cay, Marsh Harbour, Hope Town, Little Harbour, south Abaco, etc. The beach, weather and water at Casuarina were delightful. Chad and family were full of information and we enjoyed talking to them. We are looking forward to returning within the next year.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our 7 day stay at our sand dollar cottage. My first reaction was "this place is spotless"....My very important requirement for an enjoyable stay.We loved being "off the beaten path" so to say. I felt the comfort of the natural untouched beauty of this place. It fed my soul and restored my spirit. The night sky, without new jerseys light pollution was magnificent. Our host, Chad, was very helpful with any questions we had. Sassy was a delight. Oh, we loved having the opportunity to swim in sawmill blue hole.
Hope to stay two weeks next time.

A Perfect Getaway
This place was perfect for our stay. It was immaculately clean, and there was everything you need in the cottage. Chad did everything to make sure that we had all of the information we needed before and during our stay, and even had a soccer party when the US was playing in the World Cup. Sand Dollar Cove Cottages are located 25 minutes from Marsh Harbor - the closest coffee shops, restaurants; it was the perfect peaceful vacation. My husband enjoyed bonefishing on the flats right outside the door, I loved walking on the beach with Chad's dog. There are sea kayaks and two motor boats that you can use.
We are already trying to figure out when we can go back!!
Thanks, Chad for a great time!

Fun in the Sun
We stayed in the overflow unit beneath the main cottages, which was fine--very clean, comfortable and surprisingly quiet. Chad was a great host, and supplied lots of excellent info as well as gear for some extra adventures while at SandDollar. The beach is amazing, ever varied, and I enjoyed the walking and birding in the immediate area both on the beach and in the "bush" behind the cottages. This is a good one.

A perfect home away from home.....
I´m not quite sure whether I really want to leave a review as I don´t really want to share this special place........... It´s hard to find the right words to describe our stay. Before we even arrived Chad $ Sharron had provided us with all the informations we needed. Upon arrival we were welcomed in a more than friendly way. Property and cottage were way more than we had expected; the grounds were well-maintained and looked after, the house itself was very well stocked, clean, charming and with fresh flowers sitting on the table - and with an ever so invaluable view of the ocean. We really loved the walks along the beach with Sasha, one of Chad n´ Sharrons pups, who adopted us right when we got there. You´ll get a real laugh out of her catching crabs. The beach is only a few steps away, very picturesque with powdery white sand and ideal for quiet, peaceful beachcombing during which you will hardly come across anyone else. No crowds, no traffic, just nature. Chad and Sahrron provide anything you could need for a great beach holiday, kayaks, boat, beachchairs, bbq, friendly talks, seafood and homemade cookies :). Name it - they´ve got it (or will get it for you). Great Abaco is a nice little island, it was fun to explore! If you´re looking for a place to go to get away from the hectic of every day life - it´s the place to go. Just grab a Kalik (or Sands), sit back on the beach and enjoy...
We will definitely consider coming here again, as "the package" we got while staying here was more than one could expect!
Oh and just one last thing, since can´t all be good: one thing I could have went without - was having to leave...

We have been staying at Chad’s place for the last 3 years.
The cottages are really comfortable and cosy – everything you might possibly need for your stay is there – even a washer/dryer to give your clothes a quick spin after a long and wonderful day on the water.
The screened porch has a spectacular view and gives you a nice and bug-free place to sit and sip your drink in the evening, while the sun is setting.
Marsh Harbour is only a 25-minutes’ ride away and has excellent shops to stock up on a great variety of food and drink.
Chad is the perfect host, always there in the background, whenever you need some help or advice or to tell you where to find the Abaco parrots. Sasha and Sheba, the house dogs, will enthusiastically assist you in digging up crabs on the beach.
We love to stay at the cottages because of the absolute peace and quiet and comfort of the place.

We stayed for a week and had a fabulous vacation. The unit is comfortable (great mattress) and really clean, and has quiet AC units if you need them. We hardly used them with the nice breezes. We explored with our rental car, and had dinner at Pete's Pub one night. The fishing was good and there are reference materials as to where to go and how to get there. Chad is a wealth of information, and the two dogs are entertaining and good company for those of us who had to leave out pets at home. Beautiful spot-lovely quiet beach.

We have stayed here twice. Chad's place is quiet and very comfortable. I go to fish and my girlfriend likes to explore and relax and walk the miles of beaches. Chad is a wealth of local knowledge. The cottage is modern and homey. Sasha and Sheba are the best ambassadors for Sand Dollar. We look forward to seeing them as much as we do tailing bonefish and beautiful sunrises. A great place to go and relax!

My husband Stephen and son Steve all travelled from North Wales United Kingdom where we spent 11 nights at the most stunning beach I have ever been to - there was so many shades of blue in the sea. The sand was like velvet on your feet, it felt amazing. My husband went fly fishing for Bonefish he caught 12 in one day - the best Bonefish was 6lbs, he had an awesome time.
The apartment was spotless - we all enjoyed the peace and quiet and most importantly for me was that I had everything I need to prepare meals as there is no restaurants in the area. This was not a problem I actually enjoyed having time to prepare meals
Chad and Sharron have two adorable dogs Sasha and Sheba - Sasha thinks she is a human and wants to join in everything you do. She loved having a morning walk along the beach where she would perform her party trick digging for crabs and once she has achieved this she proceeded to do a victory role in the sand -she was very amusing – Sasha is the most intelligent and friendly dog I have ever known.
Chad and Sharron are the perfect hosts - they go the extra mile to ensure that you are having a great holiday - we came as guests and left as friends and we are looking forward to returning to paradise sometime soon.

My wife and i stayed for a week the end of March 2014. We had a wonderful time. cottage 1R is awesome, the weather was awesome, the beach is awesome, the fishing is awesome, snorkeling is awesome, bahamas Ricardo rum is awesome, bahams kalik beer is awesome though expensive, petes bar is awesome and most important the owner Chad is awesome. Whenever you make plans on the internet for a vacation you don't really know what to expect when you you arrive. but we lucked out and could not have asked for anything better. this is a great place for diy bonefishing, snorkeling, walking the beach and relaxing. the bonefish, there are lots of them, hard to catch but it can be done. for me small flies 3x fluro tippet were the trick, bring flies with weed guards for the turtle grass! nothing like dozens of bf tails glittering in the sunlight at low tide in the turtle grass or a school of 50 fish cruising the sand flats toward you at high tide. lucky for me there were some dumb bf not schooled in the ways of a michigan fly fisherman. Snorkeling around the little islands that you can reach with the boat or kayak was really great[a bazzilion fish most of which i dont have a clew what they are but they were beautifull] and a nice break from fishing. we met lots of nice nice people walking the beach, from the usa, france, norway, uk, everyone was very nice. the beach is nice as it gets you can walk forever looking for shells or just take in the moment. if you go to petes bar and like fish get the trigger fish if they have it, best fish i have ever had. the cottage is supper nice, clean, comfy with all the comforts of home. Chad the owner is a super guy and close by incase you need something or info. he helped us with the boats, fishing maps, directions in the area and even got us fresh mahi mahi to cook for dinner. the only problem is a week isnt long enough!

Peaceful
We have stayed here twice. Chad's place is quiet and very comfortable. I go to fish and my girlfriend likes to explore and relax and walk the miles of beaches. Chad is a wealth of local knowledge. The cottage is modern and homey. Sasha and Sheba are the best ambassadors for Sand Dollar. We look forward to seeing them as much as we do tailing bonefish and beautiful sunrises. A great place to go and relax!

Paradise waiting for you
My husband Stephen and son Steve all travelled from North Wales United Kingdom where we spent 11 nights at the most stunning beach I have ever been to - there was so many shades of blue in the sea.

Simply Great
My wife and i stayed for a week the end of March 2014.

SandDollar Cove Cottages -a great choice for a visit to Abaco. Just 20-25 minutes from the Marsh Harbor Airport, Chad and Sharron have beautiful, well stocked and CLEAN cottages. We rented both upper units and had an awesome week. The guys used the motor boat and fished everyday. The tide chart posted on the fridge, along with Chad's tips... helped with each days fishing plans. Floating on our rafts with the beach and water all to ourselves was so relaxing. Need a good laugh? Just watch Chad's 2 dogs, Sasha and Sheba dig deep- come out covered with sand and happily showing off a crab. Do your food shopping in town at Maxwell's -you can find pretty much everything you could want there. Beer drinkers take note.... Beer is expensive on the island. We paid $13.50 for a 6 pack of Corona. The Jib Room has great steak on Saturday night and BBQ ribs on Wednesday nights. It's worth the trip back to town-so make your reservations.
Chad- thanks so much for all of your help and for a great place to stay. We enjoyed our week and can't wait to return!

We stayed at the Sand Dollar Cove Cottages for seven nights this past May and had a wonderful experience. The cottages are located in the town of Casuarina Point and there are miles of beautiful beaches to explore right out the front door. The property was both clean and well maintained. The owner Chad was always available to answer any questions and he pointed us towards some amazing flats full of cruising bonefish. I would absolutely recommend this property to a fellow fisherman or anyone looking for a relaxing, beach getaway.I am already looking forward to going back next year.
