About this house rental
This is a newly remodeled (January 2020) 4 bed 2 bath plus outdoor shower beach front home with a huge 1600 square foot deck. Comfortably sleeps 12. Free High speed internet. The living and kitchen area are open and bright with unobstructed views of the beach and ocean from the wall of windows facing the water. Kitchen is set with dishes, cups, pots, silverware, cooking utensils, coffee pot, toaster and crockpot. New stove and refrigerator as of September 2018. Living room has 2 leather sofas with 4 recliners, a third sofa, love seat, oversized chair and rocking recliner, 60" smart flat screen TV with tons of streaming options. Master bedroom has a king bed, wall mounted Smart TV and large attached bathroom. Bed 2 and 3 both have queen beds, bed 4 has two twin over full solid wood custom built bunk beds and a Smart TV. The large deck has a picnic table, 6 counter height deck chairs with table, hammock and a gate to keep little ones and pets safe from the stairs. Downstairs features an outdoor shower to clean up after coming in from the beach and a foot wash at the base of the stairs. Charcoal barbecue pit, but bring your own if you plan to have an extensive BBQ. Plenty space for parking is available under the house and on adjacent lot. Weekends require a two night minimum.

Loved our stay at this breathtaking property. Weather was perfect for us and we enjoyed sitting on deck watching the waves of the Gulf. Nice breeze on a hot day but temperature did not feel unbearable in shade. Spent Saturday on beach which was a very short walk. A friend let us use his golf cart which made it easy for us to take or chairs, Tents and coolers. The house was very clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

Had a great time - 6 people and no issues with hot water. Plenty of room for everyone. One of the smoke detectors started chirping overnight due to low battery. Emailed the owner since it was out of reach and needed a ladder - he had someone there 9:00 a.m. that morning to fix the issue. Beach was fairly busy on Saturday and Sunday (we stayed the first part of August). During the weekdays, much lower beach traffic.

From Minnesota and the 18hr drive (straight thru) Check in/easy. Upon walking in everything was clean and neat. Kids bedrooms were good except for we had to search for the tv remotes when we did find them they had no batteries in them. Linens and toiletries adequately stocked and kitchen had everything you needed except a manual can opener. Only bad thing about the house was my husband is 6’4” and the top of the fridge was terrible. outside the deck was huge and the wooden chairs were comfortable for relaxing when not at beach. The second day we were there we walked down to the beach and it was packed but surprisingly the ppl on the beach were very friendly about us setting up next to them. The water was actually a little to warm but what’d ya do. We reserved the house over 9 months before our trip and we knew we couldn’t get a refund one month before our trip and found out that hurricane Beryl was on its way. So on our way down we watched and found hurricane beryl was supposed to turn into a tropical depression and hit. Well after our our first full day on the beach the next day was confirmed a hurricane was coming and that day was cloudy and water was too choppy. We kept getting alerts on our phones and we’re didn’t know the procedures for the peninsula host Mark instead of communicating thru Vrbo he gave us his personal number to keep us updated. We rode it out. An experience for sure. We lost power and Mark refunded us our last 3 days. Mark is a great host.

This was our second year renting The Waterhouse and we hope to make it an annual event. The house is spacious and the deck allows us all to spread out. We loved hanging out on the deck watching the sunrise and waves. The house is just a short walk to the beach and the outdoor shower helps rinse all the sand off before hanging out on the deck. My whole family loves this house and we look forward to going back. Owners are very easy to communicate with. 10/10!!

We had a nice family vacation here on Crystal Beach. Comfy home with lots of seating and room for 10-12. The beach is quite with room to have your spot. Kitchen is fully stocked do bring extra towels. Bring your own beach supplies none are provided. Some of the kitchen equipment is a little used but we made do. Get in before sundown those mosquitoes are no joke!

My family had a great time at this lovely house. It has some great features that as an experienced beach house renter, you don’t always get. It has a large deck that my toddlers enjoyed playing on and the adults loved to hang out on in the evenings. It also has way more parking space than other houses. My family members all arrived separately in 5 vehicles, plus a trailer for a golf cart and we had plenty of room. It doesn’t have houses directly on either side of it, so the views and privacy are great, while you have beach front views.
The only cons I would say are that there did not appear to be any pantry space available (all cabinets were filled with pots/pans or spices) so we kept all non refrigerated food on the floor or counters. Also, I haven’t checked to see if pics of the grill have been updated since I last checked, but if you wish to grill, bring a portable. The grill is not functional.

We loved this property! We brought our 4, 3, and 18month old kids. The deck was awesome, the fans in each room were great, and the kitchen was well stocked! We hope to stay again next year! Highly recommend for families!

The property was perfect and the view was spectacular. The host was always responsive to questions. The only issue we had was navigating the ferry. Apparently, the ferry service was down to a few boats so we frequently had to wait up to 2 hours to get to the island.

We had a great time at this beach house. The house is large and in a great location. Mark responded promptly to any questions we had. Loved the large deck. Would recommend for family gatherings.

We've stayed in beach houses in the area before but this one had the best location and space for all of us to be together; from the large deck to the spacious living room. The only drawback is that there is not a 50-amp hook up like shown in the pictures. It was replaced with a 110v outlet so our friends could not hook up their RV while visiting. But that worked out since the mosquitos were so bad on the lower level. Other than that, we can't complain. We booked it for the same time next year!

We needed a place to gather family to celebrate an 80th birthday. This spot was absolutely perfect - plenty of space to spread out. Exactly as described on the website. Highly recommend to anyone planning a big group in Galveston.

03-22-2024 to 03-25-2024 We really enjoyed our stay at "WaterHouse". The cabin was nice and comfortable. We over packed! Everything we brought was already available. The beds were comfortable. The location is perfect! The morning sunrise is breathtaking! We all enjoyed gathering outside each morning to watch the sunrise. Even the small children were mesmerized by the beautiful masterpiece. The weather was cold and windy but the cabin made our trip worth it. There wasn't anything to do on the Peninsula due to the time of year. I was surprised because it was spring break for some. We visited Galveston a few times. We stayed in mostly and played games. It was a great experience in spite of not being able to enjoy the beach. Next time -I will be mindful of scheduling our future trip for "in season".

The house was very nice. Everything was clean and the kitchen was well equipped. We enjoyed it. We had a problem with the code to get in the house. It was not printed out correctly so we contacted the host. He sent the correct code. We only got half our deposit back because the lift broke. Everything went up the cargo lift and down just fine. The last trip was a bag of trash and the lift stopped working. We were told we used it improperly. We tried contacting the host again with no response.

Well worth the money! Excellent views, gorgeous property, and very spacey and comfortable living quarters. The updates to the house are spot on! The beds are comfy and the bamboo pillows are to not go unnoticed. As a matter of fact, I’m ordering a pair for our bed. This is property is perfect and a must stay!

We really enjoyed our stay the past weekend. We had plenty of room and the porch was awesome. I do not think we will ever rent another place without a cargo lift. WONDERFUL. 2 minor issues were that the AC struggled some specifically in the master bedroom. There could be more shade on the upstairs porch, again minors issues. We would definitely rent this place again.

Property is in a great location, right on the beach. It is 4 bedrooms but there doesn’t seem to be air conditioning flow in 3 of them. It is not 3 bathrooms, it’s 2 bathrooms + an outdoor shower.
If everything goes well and you do not need to interact with homeowner should be fine, however in our case we lost power for 12 hours during a 100+ degree heat advisory. 4 of the people in our group left the property. I wrote the homeowner to ask for a refund/discount on the duration of the stay without power and was met with skeptical questions and the threat of a lawsuit should an unfavorable review be posted. He did offer to cover spoiled food but then when I provided the dollar amount, stopped responding. I would never rent from this person again.

⁃ Air conditioning in 3 of the bedrooms doesn’t seem to flow. Box fans are provided in those rooms
⁃ The ceiling fan cannot be used in the bunk room if top bunk is used (safety - if person sits up they’ll be at risk of being hit) adding to lack of air flow
⁃ Homeowner is combative / disrespectful
⁃ Place is overall a little rundown - missing window treatments, furniture looks a little older

Large home great deck and an amazing outdoor elevator for luggage but it was not operational which after some inspection figured out the issues and fixed it ….it was a huge help instead of taking gear upstairs. The only issue which was huge disappointment was “the grill” which was not even usable. That must be addressed for future guests.

The house and location were awesome! We’ve stayed at other properties in Crystal Beach and this one beat the others by far. The inside is so roomy, the vaulted ceilings really make it feel big. The beds were comfortable. We spent most of our time on the deck and beach which is a very short stroll from the house. I would highly recommend this house for your beach stay.

We booked the water house for a family trip and had a wonderful time. House was clean and had enough space for all 12 of us without feeling like we were packed in. Location was perfect and really convenient when a kid needed to be taken back for a break or when we forgot something. Bathrooms were spacious and showers pressure was perfect after a long day at the beach. Beds were very comfortable. The big deck was perfect for watching the waves and enjoying the breeze when you need a break from the sand. We all loved the house and will absolutely book it again in the future.

You cannot beat the location of the house. The proximity to the beach made it easy to run back and grab something if we forgot it. Sitting on the patio at the end of the day made for great people watching as well.
Check in was very easy. Listing was accurate. The beds were comfy but I would bring my own pillows as a few people did not like the ones provided (minor inconvenience).
They recently installed a lift which was amazing when it came to hauling ice chests, food, and luggage up and down.
