It sleeps 6 people and has 2 smart TVs with cable. The studio building is 10 feet from the home with 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, and a microwave, small refrigerator, coffee maker, and a smart TV connected to cable. Families on different schedules... no worries. Get a wonderful night sleep without distractions of others in your party but enjoy time together in the large living area, outside on the covered deck, or in the 7 person hot tub.

The property is in on nearly an acre with a hammock, grill, hot tub and yard games. Our landscaping is similar to most mountain properties in that it constantly changes based on nature. We keep it natural for our guests' benefit as it gives a welcoming habitat for animals to come and better wildlife viewing opportunities from the comfort of the home. The deer graze and recharge in the yard while the hummingbirds enjoy the wildflowers. Enjoy the mountain views while relaxing on the deck watching elk graze and take a rest under a tree. Please note the pictures were taken in May. Landscaping changes continually and the lawn is not able to be maintained with a lawnmower due to the large natural rock formations on the property.
Home has been completely updated. All new cozy mattresses, soft linens, thick warm duvets, and comfy towels! Kitchen updated with new stainless appliances. Fully licensed as a vacation rental in Estes Park.
Enjoy the warmth of the remote controlled gas fireplace while watching TV, catching up with family or friends, and playing games.

Lots of baby gear and stuff for our little ones. The backyard sandpit and playground was a major hit with our two kids 4 and under. The rooms were clean and bedding was fresh. Lots of extra blankets and fans were so so nice. We loved the location and how close it was to the grocery store and the entrance to Rocky Mountains.

Our stay at the Happy Elk was fantastic. We were able to check in a little earlier than expected. The location is perfect. It’s just a quick 5-10 min drive to get to downtown and to RMNP. The house was nice and clean and worked out great for our family of 6 (4 adults 2 kids under three). The owners put in a lot of work to help make you feel right at home while staying. They had games, smart TV, Alexa. As well as a pack n play, walker and booster seat with tray so if you’re traveling with a little one you don’t have to worry about bringing all of that. The little playground is a nice touch as well. Our boys loved it. We definitely plan on returning next year for another family vacation. 10/10 recommend staying here.

This was such a great experience for us. The property was spacious and allowed our family of 8 plenty of room to relax. Great location and saw lots of wildlife from the porches. Would 100% stay here again.

This home was the perfect hub for all of our kids to come together with us and enjoy each other in the Rockies. Having both units was so helpful for adults and their pets to all have their own space. The front porch was our dinning room gathering place with perfect weather. The screen doors allowed us to keep the house cool and keep enjoying the outdoors while inside. We cooked meals with everything we needed in the kitchen & BBQ. There was plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. Having access to a washer/dryer kept the packing easy for a week trip. The home’s location kept us close to town but far enough away to enjoy nature and the entrance to RMNP. Hostess was super quick responding to 1 question we had.

We stayed for a week with our Golden Retriever and the fenced backyard attached to the covered deck was a major plus. She could wander and really loved the prairie dogs, deer and other wildlife she could see in the yard and through the fence.
We spent every morning drinking coffee on the deck enjoying the beautiful view of the mountains.
Location was within minutes of the entrance to the RMNP. Super easy opening and closing and owner really easy to reach. Liked the two coffee pots. There was some mold on the bathroom ceiling and the entrance to the shower needs to be cleaned. No fitted sheets for the queen beds. We would come back again!

Perfect for a family get-a-way and the owners were fantastic to work with! We had to "heard some cats" to make this family trip happen and Joan was so helpful in bringing it together for us. We added the studio, which was fantastic for my daughter and her family to stay with young ones who needed quiet space to nap and go to bed before the adults. And the super large fenced yard was awesome for our toddler grandson and the dog to explore safely. Simply Ideal!!

You will love this little slice of heaven. We had Elk, Wild turkey, Prarie dog and chipmunks all visit the property in one day. The host is so wonderful. Dont hesitate to contact her if you have any issues. Will definitely want to come back.

This place had everything we wanted! Doggie play area, amazing yard with a view of Long's peak, and walking distance to the Rock Inn! We really enjoyed our stay!

We had a wonderful time it and it ended up being just my husband and I along with two of our kids so plenty of room in the main house. Easy access to downtown Estes so we would definitely stay again!! 😊

This is a lovely place. Has a great view. Unbelievable backyard. House is perfect with 2 bedrooms and the studio then has beds, TV and small kitchen and bath. Perfect for 3 generations of family. This is our second time here and we will be back

Such a perfect weekend. All necessities provided and we rented out both the house and studio for the 7 of us and a dog. Will definitely rent again!

Loved the location, porch, and outdoor area for children and dogs. Wonderful experience.

The host's communication was top notch. The house was lovely and perfect for our group of 4 and pups, who very much enjoyed exploring the fenced yard. A crock pot is provided and it was wonderful to return from a day of hiking to a hot meal. Great location, great home, great host! Would definitely book again!

The property is in a state of dis-repair. The lawns are overgrown and weeds have grown up through the deck. Steps leading up to the house are sloped and a tripping hazard. The murphy bed in the "studio" makes noises with the slightest move.
Would not stay there again.

We loved our stay here. Being from Hawaii we visit Estes every 2 years to head to the mountains after a lengthy vacation in Cheyenne. This time around we brought our whole family and found the Happy Elk to suit our needs. The playground was perfect for our 2 year old grandson. We loved the fully equipped kitchen and all the necessities that came with it ( dish washing soap, paper towels etc). We loved being able to prepare meals and eat together as a family. My husband and son grilled steaks and veggies outside on the grill that was provided by Joan. We also sat around the fire pit at night and roasted marshmallows and had smores. I loved sitting on the deck in the morning on the rocking chairs while drinking my coffee and just watching and listening to the sounds of nature. Loved the big table on the deck for family dinners and breakfast. The laundry room was perfect being that we were traveling for a week and a half prior. Communication was perfect. And Joan did check in with me to see if we needed anything while staying at the property. Before we checked out Joan also inquired if there was anything to make our stay better. Which I have to say I wouldn't change a thing. We really wished our trip was much longer. Before we left to head to Denver my daughter mentioned that we should make it a once a year tradition to stay at the Happy Elk. I concur!

We stayed here for a week. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and there is ample room for 5 adults and 2 kids (age 4 yrs and 8 months). It is close to the national park.
Only issue we had was wanting to use the firepit outside but the area around it was overgrown. Contacted property manager and they had a handyman come out but the handyman didn't cut down the overgrowth around firepit.

Overall property was cozy with all the amenities we needed. Owner communicated well and was thorough with instructions. Location was close to the areas we wanted to camp/hike at (RMNP Sourdough site & Long's Peak). Great experience, would recommend!

We had such a great time staying in this home. Everything was clean and orderly. It was amazing and our favorite part was the deck with a view. Elk grazed right up on the fence line. We look forward to visiting again. I cannot say enough good things about this wonderful home!

We had a great week's stay at the Happy Elk and were overjoyed with the fenced yard. The house was well appointed and had everything that you would need. We loved how close to the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park it was.
We had numerous questions about the Happy Elk and every one was quickly read and responded to. Communication was outstanding!
The proximity to town while not walkable, was just a short drive and far enough out that you didn't get all the hustle and bustle at the house. We loved that.
If you're looking for a great place and that is pet friendly, we would definitely recommend the Happy Elk.
