About this cottage rental
Our 3 acre property is only a 20min. walk from Ganges. We nestled this clean and quaint cabin in its own cedar grove, separate from the main house.
Your cabin for two has beautiful natural lighting with pine ceiling, cork floor and a high bed overstuffed with feathers and crisp white linens. Cedar boardwalks to the sweetest no-flush toilet in its own building. Outdoor claw foot tub and wash basin

This is a special place, we thoroughly enjoyed our time in this unique private getaway. Loved being surrounded in trees, peaceful and beautiful. Really enjoyed using the outdoor shower, it was kind of exciting! The bed was super comfortable and room was decorated in a very artistic manner. Thanks for an awesome stay!

We had the most amazing stay at the Westover! Rejuvenating and relaxing stay, best sleep I’ve had in a long time!
Amazing outdoor shower/tub and the most amazing homemade granola from Tara who was the most incredible host!
We cannot say enough good things about our stay, we’d go back in a heartbeat!💓

stayed at the west over BnB for 2 nights an it was great, close enough to town but you feel so private and remote tucked away with the trees. Martin was so kind and welcoming, offering great suggestions for the activities I wanted to do; breakfast was delicious and the outdoor tub under the full moon was magic.

This property was beautiful and provided an amazing, unique experience with the outdoor bathtub under the stars with privacy and beautiful ferns and cedars all around. It is “rustic” and the outhouse can be a bit chilly for those midnight bathroom breaks, but the sleeping accommodations and breakfast were cozy, comfortable and lovely! Breakfast was yummy and Tara was super-helpful in pointing out the must-see and so things on the island.
While you can walk into the village for meals from here, in November it’s dark early so it’s likely best to have a vehicle to drive out for meals (although there is a bbq, plates and utensils available).
I would recommend this accommodation and experience whole-heartedly to others as a rustic, unique, peaceful retreat experience!

Very much enjoyed the atmosphere and setup of the cabin and the under the stars bathtub. Our Labrador puppy also enjoyed his stay.

We spent three days at this incredible little cabin in the forest and would definitely return. Tara was an amazing host and met us as we arrived with a wave and a promise to bring us some goodies once we were settled. As we pulled up it felt like we had opened a storybook and entered a fairytale setting! The cabin was cozy and clean, the outdoor kitchen cute with fresh flowers and the bed was the most comfy we have slept in while on holiday. Tara came down with fruit, homemade granola, bakery muffins coffee and cream. She had a map of the area and made recommendations and answered all our questions. During our stay she checked in with us online and made sure we were relaxing and offered to bring more goodies if we needed.
The island, itself, was a beautiful place to explore. Mount Maxwell offered beautiful views from the top and Baders Beach incredible sunsets. We kayaked with seals in Burgoyne Bay and bought soaps and lavender pepper from Sacred Mountain Lavender Farm. Bring your frisbees and play a round of golf at Mouat Park and Disc Golf. Just a heads up, the trails are shared with pedestrians, and it was still a lot of fun! I think our favourite part was coming back and bathing in the forest. A relaxing, refreshing and magical experience to soak in the tub under the stars in a lush green forest.
We would highly recommend (although, we’d rather not have to share) this incredible oasis and the genuinely thoughtful and kind host that Tara is ❤️

So near to everything, and yet it feels like wilderness.

Nestled in the forest, this little cabin is a perfect getaway. Unfortunately, Salt Spring Island was experiencing an infestation of tent caterpillars at the time of our visit. Being in the forest, this little cabin was a prime target, making it impossible to enjoy the deck or the bathtub! However, the hikes, scenery and the village of Ganges made up for this as did the coziness of the little cabin. Breakfasts that Tara provided were also a plus.

Tara's cabin in the cedars is a little paradise of rustic comfort..enjoy the birds, peepers, luxurious comfortable bed, bath under the stars and warm welcome..and from there explore saltspring (or not). Thanks for sharing this special place.

The cabin is so quiet and easy to relax at. Tara is an amazing host and left fresh fruit, tea, coffee, milk, muffins, and even homemade granola so that mornings were really easy and delicious. We absolutely loved the outdoor tub.

This was a perfect getaway hidden in our own little cedar grove. The property was well stocked and it felt incredibly private. It was cozy, quiet, and the perfect spot to unwind for the weekend.

This is my second time staying here and each time it has been magical! The forest setting is stunning and you can enjoy it all from the bathtub on the deck. Tara is a fantastic host and is so accommodating, last minute we had to bring our cat with us and Tara was fantastic about the whole ordeal!

This was the perfect spot for an extended weekend getaway with our two month old baby. It was incredibly peaceful and private which allowed us to not feel self-conscious when our little one woke up at night - no neighbours nearby to disturb! Tara was a wonderful host and provided a delicious breakfast and was great to communicate with - thank you Tara. I can't believe I haven't mentioned the bathtub yet - bliss! We were there in October so it was definitely chilly outside but the tub was a lovely treat on a cold morning. We will definitely be returning.

It's a lovely experienced having to stay at this place in the midst of woods, soaking in hot tub under the stars is even more wonderful.

I stayed here with my dogs for two nights, it was incredibly relaxing and felt very private. The dogs were able to enjoy the property off-leash which is a huge plus. The cabin is warm and inviting, but it was chilly (and spooky!) using the outhouse after dark. The cabin is in a dense forest, so expect to meet lots of bugs! I experienced poor WiFi and limited cell service on the property, which was a nice break for me, but may pose a challenge for others. There is only a BBQ for cooking and limited cooking supplies and utensils, so bring everything you need (or eat at any one of the wonderful restaurants nearby). The outdoor bathtub and shower was lovely, and there was no shortage of hot water. The host was very welcoming and provided me with a map and some excellent recommendations. My favourite spot on the island was Ruckle Provincial Park.

A lovely escape
This was a beautiful property for a super rejuvenating getaway. It was so joyful to spend time relaxing on the cozy, secluded patio, listening to bird songs and being amongst nature. Tara was very friendly during the check in and shared many tips and recommendations for local spots, but otherwise my privacy was honoured for the remainder of the trip. Tara's homemade granola truly is DELCIOUS, the reviews don't lie! Thank you Tara for the lovely stay.

Exactly what I was looking for
It is on a property where there is no sound. I can wake up to no traffic and smell the forest. It was so private and the dogs were able to roam free. Although I accidentally stole the yogurt container she didn't care and the breakfast was amazing 🙏🍀 highly recommend and kinda don't want to so I can get another spot 🤣 oh the bed! So perfect!

Delightful retreat
We loved our little cabin in the woods. It was a great base to explore the island and after a busy day of sight seeing, we couldn’t wait to return for a soothing bath and the relaxing tranquility of such a welcome retreat… a real treat!

Lovely spot!
Had a cozy getaway here with my kids, we loved the outdoor tub and then warming up by the fire afterwards. The location was spot on as well, not to mention such an accommodating and kind host! We didn’t want to leave after 2 nights. Look forward to returning one day.

Lovely getaway
We have never been to Saltspring before although we live nearby. We were hoping for a peaceful getaway after a tough winter. And this property and our lovely hostess delivered exactly that. We will be back.

Loved it
Amazing location, comfy bed and delicious breakfast granola. Warm furnace and beautiful views to match. Thanks Tara for a great stay.
A side note: Google maps takes you the wrong way so make sure you double check where you’re going when you’re arriving.

Canopy escape!
So charming, so thoughtfully designed for relaxation and comfort. So rare to get an owner spending so much money on high end pillows and bedding, no Dr C ok windows, vaulted wooden ceiling, outdoor staging - a little cocoon. A very special cottage escape, books, outdoor tub, Adirondack chairs with sun or shade nooks.... wow. I actually did t want to leave and felt no need to shop, it was a me treat. Now a bit far for walking from Ganges but one old growth nature trail helped! Thank you Tara!

3 adults and a hound
We had a lovely time at the Westover B&B. Having a zero waste and delicious breakfast with island products was an added bonus. We were specially impressed at how Tara was patient and understanding about our hound, which is not small and quiet. We were very close to the downtown area and were able to split up and do different things while sharing a car. Thank you Tara!

Just what the doctor ordered!
A beautiful little cabin in the forest. Birds and frogs aplenty so that when you have a bath in the cast iron tub on the deck (heaven) you are accompanied by the sounds of nature, a very peaceful soundtrack.
The owners have thought of everything a person might need for their stay! I'll be looking forward to a retreat here again. Dogs had a great time too!

It was totally private, and the ambience radiated charm and rustic elegance. Tara was so thoughtful and easy to communicate with, and she brought me a delicious breakfast! Oh, and did I mention the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on? I will be back.

There was a moment when I was bathing in the forest, and the sky opened up with heavy, relentless rain, and I found myself laughing. Between the weather and me—I do my best to concentrate on the softness: skin in water, brushing branches of grand fir and western red cedar across my thighs. Light the fire, dry off carefully, listen to the rain and her anvils.I pressed a leaf to my eyelids and went back to the beach a friend showed me last summer. Down a muddy path, through bushes of rose hips and trees covered in lecanoromycetes. Exhausted. I fell asleep on a log induced by only the wind, by muscles expended, the current rushing by.The clouds were unbelievable. The apex firing rays straight through heaven.I want everything to always be how it is now (in these woods in this moment). I want to revel in the stillness, the solitude, the simple act of living. In silence, in having less, in wanting things for their convexities, their bareness, their inadequacies. I really only want two things: to have only what I need, and for what I need to move me.Thank you so much for having me. I can't wait to come back.
