Perched on the bluffs of Mendocino Bay and directly facing Mendocino Village, Chapman Point House delivers a view that artists and sight-seers have coveted for decades straight to the comfort of your living room. Constructed in 1963 by a professor of architecture, every room has a stunning ocean and Mendocino view. The house is framed with awe-inspiring 150-year-old hand-cut giant redwood beams (reclaimed trestle) and the flooring is 3" thick maple from a San Francisco bowling alley. Modern furnishings combined with a beautiful Redwood slab dining table and bar help make the house warm and inviting.
The combination of rustic and modern elements makes this a truly unique and special place. The main living area features a panoramic ocean view through which you'll be mesmerized by the ocean waves during the day and the twinkling lights of Mendocino at night.
Stay in and cook in the fully equipped kitchen or sample some of the many fine restaurants in Mendocino. This house has a primary bedroom with a king bed and full bathroom. The second room is a queen bed with a full bathroom. Chapman Point is also directly adjacent to Spring Ranch Park, letting its guests explore miles of beautiful headlands and meadows sprawling all the way to Van Damme Beach. Complimentary wine, tea, coffee, cream, sugar etc., dog treats and baggies much appreciated. Short struggle with the TV but help came quickly. Ideal location, private, 5 minute drive to Mendocino.

Your pictures do not do justice to the wonderful view of the Pacific not only from the deck but also from the large windows in the house. It was a wonderful introduction to the coast. The village and restaurants were lovely.

This house is truly amazing! Words or photos cannot accurately describe. Unfortunately l, Mother Nature had some big fun just prior to our arrival. Cindy, The property manager, went above and beyond to communicate with us about power outage and road conditions before we arrived. Due to the storm we almost didn’t make it- but I’m so glad we did. Staying at this property was really a once in a lifetime adventure!

The character of Chapman Point House with it’s creativity, from its bowling alley floor to it’s reused beams from an old mill, is amazing.Location on the cove and views amazing.Very well equipped. Only issue was having cone filters for our basket filter coffee pot. Not a big deal.

Located at the end of a peaceful road good for walking youre just a couple minutes from big river beach and mendocino. This property ia conveniently located and has a wonderful story

It does have a charcoal bbq to cook on as well.
I think my only suggestion would be a bit more light on the grass area to potty dogs after dark...there very well could be a light and i couldn't find it lol 😆

I have been wanting to stay at the Chapman House for some time and it did not disappoint! I love a house with a story. The architecture and the views are stunning. Our long weekend was a celebration of birthdays for two best friends and we could not have had a better time shopping, exploring, relaxing, and just staring out the giant windows, mesmerized by the gorgeous ocean views. We could not figure out how to close the flue in the primary bedroom, so without a fire in the fireplace, it was a bit drafty. Everything else is well-appointed, although we would have loved to take advantage of the great stereo system; just couldn't figure it out. Bring your own cards, dice, or games. I will definitely be coming back!

This is a gorgeous home both the views and architecture are spectacular. We loved the cozy couches and comfy beds. The hot tub on the back deck with views of the ocean is amazing. The house has plenty of amenities for a comfortable stay including a well stocked kitchen. The rental company is easy to work with and even left birthday wishes to help make it a special weekend. Only regret that we couldn’t stay longer!

This home was love at first sight for us, a rustic beauty with huge Timbers In the livingroom , a nice kitchen with all you would need to cook whatever you wish,a big deck off the back with a sunken hot tub, and a million dollar view of mendo village in the distance, quiet and peaceful, staying here is a incredible experience, I highly suggest it.

The house itself is perfect and the pictures are absolutely accurate. We loved that everything is labeled and there is a how to book for the house which made it easy. Just a beautiful, peaceful place! We loved the story of building the home using so many recycled materials – windows, floors, beams. Sitting on the deck listening to the ocean is tonic for all everyday cares. We did not have the chance to cook due to the proximity of the town and the wonderful restaurants there, but the kitchen seemed well equipped. Yes, some fixtures are a bit dated but that pales in comparison to the benefits of the beautiful location and the wrap around windows with views of the ocean and town. One thing we would recommend is to download your instructions before you get to town. We had to drive around town to get enough bars to get the instructions to the lockbox, as we arrived after the office closed. Overall, just a spectacular stay in a glorious location.

The rental agency did a fantastic job coordinating the rental (as usual); they are always knowledgeable, professional, responsive, and friendly. The house, however is showing major signs of wear and tear; I've stayed there before in years past and it looks and feels very neglected. It's a beautiful property, I just wish they would upgrade some things (the master bathroom is particularly worn down). It's still a great stay, but the cost wasn't inline with the property's condition.

I have been coming to Mendocino since the 80's primarily renting the older homes because of their charming ambiance. Chapman Point is definitely an architectural treasure. It is rustic in that the recycled beams, siding, windows, flooring, as well as some of the furniture that was used in building and furnishing this home are from an earlier time period. There is definitely a WOW factor walking in the door. But, luckily for us, the house is updated and modern so that you can admire the rusticity and still enjoy your stay with everything you need for a comfortable vacation. The house was exactly as described with a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, large closets and drawers and bathrooms as described, along with a wood fireplace that is gorgeous in the main bedroom and a pellet stove in living area. This house was spotless and the cleaner was extremely fun and creative with towels in the bathrooms, along with the throw pillows and throws on beds. It just gave you a great feeling about the house being very lovingly cared for. We took advantage of the hot tub regularly even though some of our weather wasn't perfect. The view was so beautiful, reading on one rainy day in front of those huge windows couldn't have been more relaxing. My daughter is a runner and she did her run early every day from the house on beautiful trails. We went up to Noyo Harbor in Ft Bragg to get fresh fish at Princess Seafood Company and they also had crab and oysters that week. We ate yummy fish Tacos at Noyo Fish Company several times. The lovely Botanical Garden gave us good exercise on a drizzly day. This is the perfect house to rent in every way. Convenience to restaurants, trails, beaches, shopping and privacy with the way it's laid out--bedrooms and bathrooms on opposite sides of the house. Living areas and main bedroom are very spacious. Our family had a wonderful week at Chapman Point and we highly recommend it to everyone.

From the architecture of the house, to the views from the interior and hot tub, this property has it all. Only minor quibbles are having enough utensils in the kitchen (we seemed to run out of forks regularly) and better lighting in the other bedroom. The stove burners are a little tricky to light. We stayed at Chapman Point House for Christmas in 2022 and it was HEAVENLY! The house is so rustic, cozy and private, and the VIEWS are BEYOND!!! It was just such a treat to wake up every morning, make coffee and look out those GORGEOUS windows at the wild ocean below. We loved the rustic/modern aesthetic of Chapman Point House so much. It was cozy, yet spacious. Warm, but not cluttered. Modern, but not cold. We had such a wonderful time cooking, doing puzzles, watching the rain, listening to Christmas music and taking walks to see the variety of budding mushrooms around the property. Our labradoodle, Fletcher, also loved his stay, as well. He had so much room to roam about inside the house, and loved walking the perimeter of the property with us between rain showers. Oh, the SQUIRRELS! LOL! We hope to return to Chapman Point House again soon! Thank you, Mendocino Preferred, for the wonderful visit!

Everything about this place is beautiful! It is our second time staying here, and the architecture lends itself to enjoying nature whether it be looking out the beautiful windows at the trees or relaxing on the deck overlooking the ocean. We had one complaint, and that is that the hot tub did not work when we arrived, and that was going to be the highlight of our trip. We looked so forward to it. Since we only stayed three nights, we only had two full days, and we had to spend the majority of one of them on the phone and waiting for the hot tub guy to come by twice, so that day was a wash, and we were not refunded for one of our lost days (giving up,our time). We also only got to enjoy the hot tub for one of the days, and it still did not heat up properly. Other than the hot tub issue, everything else was great, and Mendocino Preferred is very responsive. They also have a beautiful welcome when you arrive.
