Sail up to the house (you will need a dinghy to get to beach), on this pristine shore with edible mussels. Free Island Explorer bus stops right outside the driveway during peak season (consult Downeast Transportation website for schedule). Within walking distance of historic Salisbury Cove and 1.5 miles from Acadia National Park Hulls Cove entrance. Seven minutes by car from Hancock County airport, one hour from Bangor. Pirate's Cove mini-golf down the road as well as Mainley Meats (Bar-B-Que), Udder Delights (deserts and ice cream), and the Trenton Lobster Pound and Bar Harbor Lobster Pounds (set the table, order your lobsters, go pick them up and enjoy on the deck) or eat on their picnic tables.
You can fish in the ocean without a license or get a license and fish on Hamilton Pond which is within walking distance. If you are familiar with kayaks, paddle across the cove to the MDI Biolab and float through the stone arch at high tide, or paddle further around the point and picnic in 'The Ovens' which are shallow waterside caves with pebble beaches, best at low tide.
In a boat, you can sail or motor to docks in Bar Harbor or drive (7 minutes) to town.
The Hulls Cove entrance to Acadia National Park is 2 miles away. Drive there, bike there, or take the bus (you can put your bikes on the front grill of the bus). Ranger programs, hiking on graded paths up the mountain, or biking, or walking on the carriage trails (no cars) are fun things to do. You can swim in a lake with a lifeguard or dare the 'Ledges' and enter Echo Lake by the cliff. The Oceanarium is nearby. There is a lobster hatchery there.
A local, historic church within walking distance is Eden Baptist Church but many other churches are in town.
Kebo Valley golf Club is a historic course in Bar Harbor. Lessons, pro shop are up to date. Other, local golf courses are also close by.
In Ellsworth, a seasonal locomotive takes visitors on a scenic ride in the spring, summer, and fall.
Restaurants for every taste abound from the Chart House, a seaside fish house, to Havana's, a Latin restaurant with a wine list of note, to Sweet Peas Farm Kitchen (pizza), to Nostranos, a private Italian restaurant. Most have outdoor seating.
During July and August, music abounds with the Bar Harbor Music Festival (with live opera) and the Northeast Harbor Chamber series. The repertory theater is good and the local cinema, Reel Pizza, is where the locals hang out.
I can help suggest dining and activities for you including activities for kids. I know caterers and can refer you to a variety of helpers, including additional housekeeping.
It is close to the road but quiet. You'll hear lobster boats in the morning, but the black-out shades will help you sleep late.

Wonderful trip! Home was beautiful! Ocean view. Close to town and park entrance.

Great location for anyone looking to enjoy the beauty of Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. The sauna was amazing as was the ability to take a morning cold plunge in the cove! We loved that the house was so well-stocked with toilet paper and paper towels - a real rarity! Plenty of space for two families to be together (or stay separate, when desired). We had a wonderful time.

The house was wonderful! It's spacious, accommodated all 3 generations of our family, is on the water and has kayaks and personal flotation devices. It's very close to Acadia National Park and to Bar Harbor. We had a phenomenal time!

Children and grandchildren especially enjoyed kayaks. Beautiful location on east bay. Private serene setting.

The listing does not do the house justice! It’s a perfect home with plenty of room for our family of 8. The waterfront location was perfect and the long driveway made the home feel secluded even though it’s right off the highway. The sauna was perfect at the end of a chilly rainy down outside.
Our only complaint was that there was no dustpan for sweeping and the vacuum in the closet didn’t seem to work well.
Our hosts communicated with us very well prior to our trip so we had no issues whatsoever.
Would highly recommend this home.

Five of us (husband, myself, and 3 young adults) had a wonderful time at this house. There was plenty of space for all of us to spread out. The house is immaculately maintained and it had everything that we needed. Being on the water and having a spectacular view was a huge bonus!

Beautiful, serene, Maine
Maine at its finest. Nine years later, back at this house holding so many memories for our family. Everything was pristine and like we remembered it. Can’t thank Janice enough for her hospitality, she took care of everything for us and was extremely responsive to questions.

Fantastic Family Vacation
This home provided our family with comfort, convenience, and many happy memories. Our son-in-law proclaimed that the den/office was a dream workspace for his teleworking. Our grandchildren spent time every day exploring the shore. I enjoyed the well-stocked kitchen, laundry access, and eating together in the dining room Everyone enjoyed time together relaxing in the living room, sleeping in the quiet, comfortable beds, and playing ping-pong in the basement. We were close to Acadia, restaurants, and Bar Harbor. This was the perfect property, and Janice, the perfect host, provided all the information we needed and answered all questions promptly. What a delightful time we had! Hoping to return another time!

Amazing!
This is a beautiful home and property. The location right on the water is fantastic. It’s quiet and fairly secluded, but still close to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. I would absolutely stay here again the next time I visit Mt Desert Island.

Beautiful, peaceful and well appointed home in a great location, convenient to the major attractions in the area. Our family of 5 adults enjoyed hiking in Acadia National Park and also taking advantage of the quiet waterfront area at the rental property. Only downside was not booking for 2 weeks!

The house is very nice, well appointed with plenty of space and a great location....close to everything you can do on Mt. Desert Island. Janice is a great host! She responds quickly with any inquiries and also has suggested places to visit and tips for the area. Overall, a very easy process from start to finish. We would definitely come back again!

Excellent home for your vacation on Mount Desert Island
We had a fantastic stay here! The house was immaculately clean upon arrival and so well maintained. It has everything you need if you want to prepare meals there and great location to restaurants if you don't. The private access to Eastern Bay makes for a wonderful time to explore with the tides or to go kayaking. We saw seals and a bald eagle. The house is well laid out so everyone has their private bedrooms and bathrooms and plenty of space to spread out. The deck and grill were nice for outdoor time. The location is nice for convenient access to all part of the island. The owners were very nice to communicate with.

The best house in Maine
We loved the property, location, amenities, and especially water views. Janice, the property manager was amazing from start to finish. Immediate responses, amazing suggestions and flawless check in and check out process. Already thinking of coming back next August. Will suggest it to all my friends and family. Thank you.

Lovely home away from home
This lovely house on the water was the perfect place for our group of 3 couples. It is near enough to Bar Harbor for convenience but in a secluded spot on the bay a few miles away. The house itself has great light and a splendid view of the bay and included are ample supplies of necessities for the bathrooms and kitchen. It was the perfect home base for our exploration of MDI.

Wonderful Family vacation
The online pictures do not do this property justice. It is super nice and larger than the pictures show. Everything was very well stocked, extra towels, toilet paper and paper towels. Kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals for our family on 9. We all enjoyed the kayaks and gather mussels at low tide for one evening meal. Location was great, everyone had a great time.

A Perfect Maine Vacation!
Our family of four had a wonderful time at this property. The house is clean and spacious with plenty of room to spread out, and is located in a perfect location. The house could easily accommodate six to eight people without anyone tripping over each other. With no neighbors in sight you have all the privacy you want, and yet are just minutes from Acadia National Park and downtown Bar Harbor. We enjoyed our mornings drinking coffee on the porch overlooking the water, then would kayak a while right off the back yard with the kayaks provided. The house comes with all the amenities you would want and was very clean. Best of all, Janice, our host, was amazing at communicating with us before and during our trip, providing details about the house, local restaurants, and things to do. We followed her advice about where to eat and what to do and we were not let down. I really can't say enough about how helpful she was. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking to visit the Bar Harbor area!

Magnificent Maine Oceanfront House
This house is amazing. I have rented a lot of VRBO houses and this might the best ever. The location was perfect for relaxing and quality family time. We used the house as a home base to spend time hiking in Acadia National Forest and time in Bar Harbor. After busy days it was so nice to return to this lake house. We cooked in every night for dinner using the grill and the fully stocked kitchen including preparing a lobster dinner. The waterfront provided for great views, kayaking and exploring for shells. Thanks again Janice for sharing your little slice of heaven with us. So many memories I am tearing up just thinking about them!

Beautiful, spotless home with excellent view and perfect location. Nature and serenity abound.
Large, private, comfortable, spotless modern home. Perfect location for Bar Harbor scene and Acadia visits. Well stocked kitchen. Perfectly kept grounds with blueberries and blackberries picked for breakfast. Mussels harvested on beach property for dinner. Kayaks provided numerous fun outings on the bay waterfront. Owner, Janice, provided excellent vacation tips in advance to help with planning, and she was a pleasure to deal with.

Love this house!
This is our second time staying at this house! We absolutely love it! There are kayaks, ping pong, and it is so fun to take the little ones down to the beach! There are sea gulls, loons and otters! They had a blast looking for shells! It's so peaceful and serene! Two years ago we even had deer in the yard! Everything is there you could possibly need and Acadia and Bar Harbor are so close! There is a really cool Pirate mini golf right down the road as well! I love this house!!

Beautiful setting and home
We could not have asked for more in a vacation home. The setting was perfect, the house was clean having everything we needed. We enjoyed sitting on the deck or on the bench overlooking the water. It is hard to describe in words how wonderful things were. We would definitely come back when we are in the area! Thanks Janice for the information on the area, it was most helpful.

We were 3 couples who had a wonderful time in an amazing house. It was very clean, comfortable, well stocked and well appointed. Fabulous views of Frenchman's Bay. Can't say enough about it. Janice was very helpful with ideas and recommendations. We didn't want to leave!

Beautiful home, stunning sunrise views!
This was a very beautiful, relaxing and comfortable home! Everyone had their own space for down time with the separate wings of the floor plan! So very well appointed too! Everything you would need from games, books, kayaks and such nice views! We saw an eagle while kayaking along with deer and fox! We all found plenty of sea glass and treasures after the tide! Bar Harbor and Acadia National park along with Northeast Harbor and other sights are so close and accessible. We did not choose to go at peak season but for us it was way more enjoyable and relaxing without the overcrowded streets in Bar Harbor! We were able to catch a lobster boat after it came in to the dock to see all of their fresh catch of the day. We also experienced cooking our own lobster at the house thanks to the wonderful owner, Janice who has so thoughtfully provided everything you could possibly need! We are eternally grateful for the opportunity to stay in this house for our great Northern Maine vacation! Many awesome memories made and treasured! You would not be disappointed in renting this home for vacation! :)

The Perfect Getaway
This is the second time we have stayed in Eastern Bay, and it was just as perfect as the first time around. There was plenty of space for family and friends to visit and enjoy lobster dinners in the dining room overlooking bay. This is a nice quiet retreat with plenty of wildlife (several deer in the yard were a nightly occurrence), while still easily accessible to Acadia and Bar Harbor. The children had a great time exploring the beach behind the house and looking for sea glass. The homeowner has always been responsive and made our experience enjoyable. We look forward to coming again!

Beautiful House
This was probably my most enjoyable vacation! All my children and both my grandchildren were there. The house was so close to Bar Harbor, Acadia and many other fun things to do! We had the best time and the house was amazing. My husband and son had so much fun kayaking and the children and I had a great time looking for sea glass and shells!

Great Location Great House
Great location, very private and nice view. House was clean and well maintained. Everything was as advertised. Nice screened in porch. Kayaks provided and highly recommend using them, we really enjoyed kayaking in the calm bay waters footsteps from house. Very nice house. Our only negative owner said it takes 10-14 days to get your deposit returned, not sure why? We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this home!!

A Wonderful Space
I believe this marks the 4th summer we have enjoyed this wonderful space and all that surrounds it. With grandparents joining us, as they do every year, there were six of us to enjoy the beach, hiking in Acadia, playing cards, putting puzzles together, and going off to find a quiet spot for some reading. After a busy school year this time always proves to be a restorative tonic. Thank you so much for the opportunity to continue our tradition of enjoying this lovely ocean side home.

Beautiful Home with Plenty of Space
Our family greatly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful house. It is situated among many trees with gorgeous landscaping all about the house. With four bedrooms and a den with a sleeping sofa, there was plenty of room for all of us and gave everyone a place in which to retreat for privacy. The view is pretty, with the early sunrise splaying brilliant colors of red and orange across the water in the morning. My favorite spot was the screened porch on the side of the house, in which I sat in the cool mornings drinking my coffee and listening to all of the birds. The outside deck area is perfect for everyone to gather for cocktails and appetizers. We were so busy hiking, sailing and shopping all week, that we unfortunately didn't have time to take advantage of the basement game room. The dining room was a wonderful place to gather everyone for dinner, and the living room was well used on a couple of rainy days for reading and puzzle making. The kitchen is very well stocked; I think this is the first year we didn't have to supplement any cooking utensils in a rental house! All in all, this house is a great place to stay and I appreciate the owners making it available to island visitors.

Perfect home base
My family had a wonderful vacation visiting Acadia and this home was the perfect home base for us. We were traveling with a 6 month old and the house's close location to everything made it convenient to not have to have him stuck in the carseat for prolonged periods of time. In addition, there was plenty to keep us occupied at the house during nap time. It was wonderful to explore the water around the house in the kayaks and wander around the tide pools. The house was spaciousl, clean, and well-equipped. We will definitely use this house again if we find ourselves back in the area!

Amazing Family Celebration!
We enjoyed our week with both of our sons' families, which included twin thirteen year old girls and infants 9 and 13 months. This lovely home is comfortable and was equipped to accommodate all of our needs! Everything that was promised materialized including blueberries for breakfast! We could not have been happier or more pleased!
