About this cabin rental
Find yourself relaxing on the1000 square foot deck while watching the kiddos explore, hike, and sled on our one acre property. Walk into town for shopping, dining, and on your way stop at the library, kids playground, and chapel right down the street. After a day at the lake or China peak Ski Resort enjoy making a meal in our stunning kitchen. The kitchen features sinker wood custom cabinets, granite countertops, and beautiful stone floor. Step into our large living room with large TV and relax on the reclining leather couches. Grab a game, DVD, or puzzle from our cabinet, and enjoy the beautiful view from our game room. With Five bedrooms everyone will have there own space to sleep, sit, read, or enjoy the view. Walk across the street to the Saw Mill to grab a bite to eat.

This cabin was the perfect fit for my friends and I. We enjoyed the stayed the location of the cabin. Overall an amazing place to gather around. Perfect in walking distance to stores and shops. Would recommend everyone to book here an stay at the DOGHOUSE CABIN!

We loved this cabin and will definitely stay again. The kitchen was well-stocked with pots, pans, utensils, etc that we needed to eat most of our meals in the cabin. The local restaurants are limited (great pizza, sandwich shop, grill options). The dining area and living room were both big enough for our family of 5 to eat/rest comfortably. The cozy fireplace, tv/dvd player, and beautiful views made relaxing in the cabin a highlight. Bedrooms were comfortable and having two bathrooms was helpful. The renovated kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, and original paneling in this cabin was the perfect combo of updated and vintage. Clean, comfortable, and warm from the heater and gas fireplace. The owner Jill was super responsive to questions. China Peak ski area is not far away, and there are two snow parks on the way. There were mudslides and some road work being done which slowed us down, so leave extra time to get around. Carry chains although we luckily didn't have to use them this trip. We had to leave a day early due to storms, but we had an epic ski / boarding day before we left. In Shaver, Bob's Market is well stocked and he is super helpful. Two sporting goods stores carry sleds, clothing and gear. Many trails to hike/walk (we like the trail behind the Forestry Fire Station on Dinkey Creek, which takes you through the woods and down to the shores of Shaver Lake), although right now the snow is so high you would need snow shoes. We have stayed in several cabins in Shaver, and this was by far our favorite. We will be back to enjoy the beautiful deck with gorgeous views.

The house was ideally located. Easily accessible to Tollhouse Rd., the town of Shaver Lake, and the lake itself. The house was a perfect combination of quaint mountain cabin and updated amenities. We will definitely return! We loved the large deck, spacious outdoor patio sofa sectional, patio table, Barbq and, of course, the view.

Birthday Weekend at Baxter Cabin
We celebrated a family birthday at Shaver Lake. The cabin was great for us. Beautiful view of the valley. Close to the lake, well stocked for group cooking and dining, great area for game playing. Jill kept us well informed and was available if we had any questions. We hiked the Lake Shore Trail and stopped for swimming and a picnic lunch which everyone agreed made for the perfect day.

Comfortable cabin in a convenient location
We had a wonderful time spending a couple days at the Baxter Cabin in January. The cabin was clean, spacious and well equipped with everything we needed. The location is very convenient- tucked away from main road, but still very close to town’s restaurants. The cabin sits atop a hill and we were able to go sledding right outside the cabin with plenty of space for snowman building and snowball fights too. Look forward to coming back on our next Shaver Lake vacation.

Our family stayed at the cabin during our MLK snowboarding trip and it was great. It was clean, spacious, and within 25 minutes from China Peak. The directions and communication from Jill were great. We would stay again.

Great place to spend our Thanksgiving
We really enjoyed our stay at the Baxter’s cabin. Our family went for Thanksgiving and the kitchen was a great size to allow for all of us to get together and cook. We had a little mix up with the check in process but the owner was able to clear it up quickly. Our biggest issue was the snow... while it was beautiful and we absolutely enjoyed it... the people who were supposed to plow did not do a very good job. (Note this is not a reflection on Jill) Even with 4 wheel drives and chains it took us 4-5 hours one day to get my parents out of the driveway. Just something to keep in mind if it snows... Other than that I loved the place and would stay again.

Location, location, location!
Cute cabin in the woods with a great location, just a short walk or drive into town, a minute to the lake. The kitchen is open concept and clean, the living room is comfortable and cozy, the bathrooms small but clean and the bedrooms were restful and well-appointed. Jill was professional and friendly and I found her a great host to work with. The kids didn't need to go to the snow park because they went right outside the door into the amazing sloped yard and played for hours! Win-win! Be advised if you're visiting during snow, their driveway is steep so 4x4 is recommended. We enjoyed our time there and would stay again!

We had a wonderful stay at this cabin. It is cute and very clean. When we arrived in the evening the house was nicely lit with the fire going! After having a great stay Jill was nice enough to mail a stuffed animal our daughter accidentally left behind. We will definitely be returning. Thanks for a great weekend getaway.

Perfect Location
The Baxter Mountian Cottage served as a perfect base camp for our day trips to Shaver Lake, Huntington Lake, Indian Pools, Dinkey Creek and Wishon Resevoir. It’s right off the main road, and within walking distance to town. The cottage has everything you need and more. We especially loved kitchen and the large rear deck.
We’ll definitely be back!

Beautiful, comfortable, and very well maintained
We spent the weekend with two other families and there was plenty of room for all of us (including the kids). The cabin was stocked with a variety of DVDs and games. We were lucky enough to arrive during the first big snow storm of the season. I was worried that the single house heater wouldn't keep us warm but it worked AMAZINGLY and kept the entire cabin, including the upstairs bedrooms, very comfortable. The electric fireplace was also a huge plus because we didn't have to worry about hauling in wood during the storm and it provided a great amount of heat. THE ONLY ISSUE was the water. Initially the hot water didn't work. I text the owner and she called me back immediately to resolve the issue. While the water warmed up, the water pressure never improved beyond a trickle so we were unable to take showers during our stay and the toilets didn't always flush. I'm assuming this had more to do with the weather and cold pipes so we'll give this cabin another visit in the future.

We had a wonderful time staying at the Baxter's Mountain Cottage. It had plenty of room for all of us and was very conveniently located close to town, which was very handy. We would love to come back sometime!

Quaint Cabin Retreat December 2017
Plenty of room for everyone. Clean, warm, and well equipped with everything you'd need in the kitchen. We were there over the Christmas holiday so we did a lot of cooking. The kitchen is roomy for as many cooks as you'd like. It had snowed before we got there so the driveway down to the house was difficult to find at first. When we picked up the keys we were given a map to the house which was extremely helpful because the house address is not what you use to get to the house. Beautiful deck to watch sunsets or to organize our 5 year old's first snowball fight. We would definitely choose this home again.

Stayed with three other couples. Very charming home with 4 bedrooms & 1/4 bath up stairs and 3/4 bath with shower down stairs. Worked flawlessly. Kitchen is updated with center island so all can get in and give a hand in cooking, or just socializing. Best part is large deck overlooking forest, great for relaxing and viewing the night skies. Plenty of parking for vehicles and water craft. Close to the lake and Shaver Village. Would highly recommend when looking to stay in Shaver Lake!
