We had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend at the lovrly Duerst House. The large, beautifully restored home was perfect for our family(5 adults and two children). We enjoyed canoeing and kayaking on the Sugar River, and all things Swiss and Norwegian in New Glarus and Mt.Horeb. It was great having a fully stocked kitchen, and large table to all sit together for meals and games! The gardens and window boxes are beautifully done. The only complaint were the upstairs mattresses which could use with some upgrading.

This is my first time staying here but certainly not the last. It is a Beautiful home inside and out. From the Charming front porch for morning coffee to the back yard patio I felt " at home". I truly have nothing negative to say about my stay. Jane has provided the perfect home for a VRBO stay!

We had an excellent stay in New Glarus. The place was amazing and we could've spent a say exploring just the house itself. Close proximity to downtown in a quiet neighborhood. Plenty of space to gather or have some quiet time alone. We'll definitely be back!

Took a quick two night getaway trip with my mom and we had a blast. The house was beautiful and extremely clean, there was ample sleeping room, and it had everything we could have possibly needed. We will definitely be booking here again and truly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful historic home!

Perfect house for girls gathering - 3rd time staying here - Jane is great to work with and replies quickly to all communication. Easy walking distance to downtown even on the chilly evening. If you are planning a trip to New Glarus area, this is the perfect place to stay!

We loved spending the night here - there are so many beds and spaces to explore! It was a little tight in the morning with only two bathrooms, but we made it work. We’ll DEFINITELY stay here again!

New glarus is super cute and this property is smack in the middle of town. Very spacious house. Absolutely loved our stay here and will be back.

This is a fantastic property. It is well kept, beautifully decorated, simply charming! We had everything we needed for our mini vacation. We also enjoyed the lovely coffee shop! If you are looking for a perfect house, this is the one!

We grew up in southern WI and now live 5 hours away. Were looking for a suitable location that could sleep five adults and an infant with the ability to prepare and host a larger family gathering of our WI family, about 20 people in total. Duerst Guest House met and exceeded all of our hopes and expectations. As many have mentioned, this large home is exceptionally clean and comfortable. The photos, while accurate, don’t adequately convey its charm and spaciousness. Its close proximity to Madison made it very easy to gather all the last minute party provisions. The kitchens are well equipped with plenty of serveware, glassware, etc. Everything was in great working order and necessities were generously stocked with additional towels, paper goods, etc. Beds were comfortable and privacy easily obtainable. Jane, the host was very responsive to my pre-visit inquiries and attentive and available during our stay. Pricing was very fair & reasonable for all that this lovely old home has to offer. All of our guests commented on the home and its coziness and adaptability to hosting a party. Will definitely rebook, if the need arises.

What a beautiful home! Loved all the architectural details of this amazing space, and all the updates to keep this beautiful old home fresh and safe. (New steps front and back, patio with fire pit, etc.) We all slept great and had all that we needed. Loved our stay and would love to come back and explore New Glarus further. Thank you!

This home was very clean and comfortable. There is a lot of space for all to relax and feel at home. Jane is an exceptional host. We could not have asked for anything better. We will definitely revisit in the future. A one accommodation!

As good as this place looks in the listing, it is even better in person!!!! We loved staying here. A totally inviting atmosphere. The property is well equipped with linens, extra linens, kitchenware, you name it. Can't wait to come back and visit again!!!

The Duerst Guest House is just plain gorgeous as well as comfortable and welcoming. One of our party said "we should come during bad weather sometime so we just hang at/in the house". We highly recommend and look forward to our next visit!!

Large home with many bedrooms, two living rooms, big kitchen table. All the dishes and cooking supplies you need. Many pillows and blankets and bathroom supplies. The woodwork in this old home is beautiful. Large front porch. Walkable distance to downtown. Good food in pubs. Excellent bakery downtown! Would definitely stay in this home again.

Spacious, cozy home. Would be a great place for a girlfriend get away or family get together. We were able to ride our bikes the short distance to the bike trailhead, which is the main reason we booked the stay, but also appreciated the short walking distance to the restaurants and shops in downtown New Glarus. Plan on staying there again

Fun old house with a lot of character, beautiful grounds. Mattresses could stand to be updated, but everything was well thought out and decorated. Cool place to stay. Wished there was a DVD player in the upstairs part of the house.

The Duerst House is fabulous! Lots of room to spread out and be comfortable for our Girls Week. Plenty of rooms and 3 bathrooms with showers. Everything was perfect and we had a relaxing, wonderful time in New Glarus. Communication with Jane was great. We will be back!

This is my second stay at this property. The house is gorgeous and has plenty of space for family gatherings. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils. We picked up some firewood at Casey's and enjoyed a fire one evening. Not to mention it's just a short walk to New Glarus's adorable downtown area. We had a fantastic stay!

We were in New Glarus for a family wedding. The house was very nice, clean, and had all the amenities needed for our family. I recommend this house to anyone visiting the New Glarus area.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is delightful and convenient walking distance to town. We loved sitting on the front porch with our coffee in the mornings. Jane recommended places to visit, was extremely helpful and welcoming. The fresh corn was amazing. Highly recommend staying here. We hope to visit again.

A fun location with 91 year old mom and her kids. Home we stayed at was absolutely perfect. All amenities, home, grounds, town the best! I would stay a Thurs-Sunday as restaurants were closed. Would highly recommend!!

This is my second time staying here. It is pretty much perfect and would be great for a large family or even two families who would like to explore New Glarus and the surrounding area. Such a beautiful part of Wisconsin.
