Large family home nestled at the top of the mountain with long range views, sleeps 16, small pond and fire pit. The inside is warm and cozy with the stone fireplace and wood walls. The home sits on 12 acres and is very private. Lots of space with 2 living areas, one on each level for kids and adults, each featuring its own flat panel TV. Enjoy hiking, sledding and sitting by the outdoor fire pit by the pond. House also features a game room which includes a pool table and ping pong table. This house is very clean and has a lot of detail. We really enjoyed our stay and had everything we needed. The only dray back was there is no view of the mountains. The trees have grown so much you can see anything. with that being said I would still rent this house again and hope to next year when we return.

Our family stayed here for the Spring 2024 App State graduation. We had plenty of room for all 14 of us! Very comfy. Plenty of towels! Recommendations: information needed on how to run hot tub. Lights needed around hot tub for night relaxation and soaks. More lighting in kitchen for us folks that like to cook

Very private, and large for a family gathering. Close to Broone, NC, and river tubing that my family did. Home wasn’t the cleanest, and a musty smell. I did leave a tip for the housekeeper. Basement bedroom was nice, but had slugs. I thought the oven would be fix from past reviews. It still works, but on the sluggish side. We loved the neighbor dog paid us a visit. A very nice and friendly dog. Wood pit was great! Landscaping beautiful, and kids having a good time playing pool and ping pong.

We stayed here for a family getaway. Really enjoyed the peaceful location. The house had everything we needed and was comfortable for everyone (15 people). They just put in a brand new stove and the grill worked great! We really enjoyed the spacious decks and the hot tub!

We truly enjoyed this tucked away cabin for our weekend getaway. Would have enjoyed more had there been more AC throughout the very large home. Luckily the evenings were cool enough to open windows.
All in all it was the right amount of space to enjoy and kid free weekend amd would have worked just a well if we brought the kids. Pleanty of space!

This house was perfectly designed for our annual family vacation. The two game rooms were perfect for our group. Rockers on the porch and chairs by the pond allowed us to enjoy the cool mountain weather in a private setting. Located between Boone and West Jefferson, this location was quite desirable.
We were dismayed to discover that the oven did not work properly. It took 40+ minutes to preheat to 375 degrees (which we later discovered was really only 295 degrees) and took more than twice the usual time to cook the meal. We contacted the owner who gave us a “work around” process to try but, basically, the oven was unreliable. (We were sympathetic to his problem of finding a reliable repair person in the area, but that information did not put dinner on the table.). Our “chief cook” was quite frustrated throughout the week. Had we known the oven was an issue, she would have altered her menu plans. She expected that the house would have a workable oven. (There is a toaster oven in the kitchen, but baking biscuits 5 at a time is not an efficient way to get breakfast for 13 on the table.)
We would stay here again if we were assured that the oven was operating properly. For those considering renting this property, we encourage you to consider menu choices that can be prepared on the grill, on the stovetop, in the microwave, in a small toaster oven, or do not require cooking. Hopefully this issue will be resolved by next year so that we can enjoy this lovely home again.

We stayed here with four families (7 adults & 8 kids all 12 and under) and had a fantastic long weekend. The mountainside and landscape were exceptionally pristine and well cared for; beautiful streams and views from the large decks. We enjoyed the hot tub quite a bit and just sitting outside basking in the mountain air. It really was a great setup for a large group.

There was a ton of great space indoors and outdoors for large groups. Watching the sun rise over the mountains from the hot tub is a must. There were plenty of linens towels blankets and towels. The oven did not work very well but the toaster oven was a good back up. The gas grill did not work at all. Overall the house was clean. The carpets are old and stained but overall decor was pleasant.

I don’t even know where to start. The pictures do NOT do this cabin justice. This place is magical! We had 6 adults and 8 children. The property was perfect for all of us. The yard was great for our Easter egg hunt, plenty of room for the kiddos and adults to explore. Tommy the person who delivers wood is also a great source of information. He has lived in Todd for 63 years. The “neighbors” also have a dog named Boone who would come visit occasionally. We all loved that. Cascade Lane is situated in the middle of pretty much everything. Boone and West Jefferson are only a short 27 minute drive away. I would stay here 1000 more times!!

Plan to rent again in the future only problem was the grill needs to be replaced. Gas line for grill is melted had to go to Dollar General for a charcoal grill.

Beautiful cabin with lots of light, large rooms, enjoyed the game room, the pool table is a little rough, nice having a clean working hot tub. We needed instructions on indoor fireplace and the oven was giving us an error, but we did get them both to work. I needed a slow cooker and a blender and they were not provided. We heard Coyotes, seen a mountain Lion,and deer. All in all we all really enjoyed our stay

The cabin was spacious enough to accommodate everyone. Rooms and bathrooms. Had some dusty areas but overall was clean and comfortable. The grill and upstairs TV's didn't work which was a disappointment. No light hung in the corner where the hot tub is so it can be a little dangerous getting in and out at night. But a beautiful place

The house could use some cleaning, but it was a great option for four families just wanting to get away and hang out together. We had lots of fires in the firepit and the kitchen was well suited for a big group. We had reached out to the owner a couple times prior to going, but received no response. Once we were there the property manager was great! He brought us firewood and attempted to fix one of the washing machines that was broken.

Loved this cabin! Very cozy welcome with the gas logs burning in the fireplace when we got there. Lots of space for 8 women!! Very well equipped kitchen (pots, pans, serving bowls, plates, silverware, etc. with a large dining room table that sat 8. The lazy Susan was a nice touch. We were glad the drizzle held off so we could enjoyed the outside fire pit. The showers worked well and there was plenty of hot water. We cooked all our meals at the cottage and enjoyed playing cards and games and laughing a lot!
*Things that could be improved:
1-The upstairs master bedroom had vertical blinds that wouldn't close and the ensuite bathroom tub and the sink faucet dripped the whole time.
2 - The bedroom on the lowest floor had an odd smell and some gnats. During the night our friend that slept down there could hear a scratching noise in the walls, NOT in the actual room (perhaps a small rodent ?). The 2nd night about 2:00 a.m. she came up to the main floor and slept on the couch because the sound kept her awake. Other than that the cottage was very quiet and the beds extremely comfortable.
3 - The house could use some more wine glasses (only 2). There were lots of juice type glasses but only 4 champagne glasses.
Would I return for another visit? ABSOLUTELY! All in all it was wonderful.

Great get away retreat, yet close enough to attractions
We hosted our first church retreat here for our young adults class. The location offered a great setting for devotionals, and spending quality time together as a group. It was quiet enough to get away from the hustle of town, yet close enough to still take advantage of restaurants and attractions. We definitely recommend!

It was a great property for a large group. The WiFi is very, very spotty but I noticed this pretty much everywhere in the area. It doesn’t have central AC, just two units, one upstairs and one downstairs. It did get cool with the windows opened though. Overall great house.

Overall the stay was good, exactly as the reviews stated, very secluded and great for our retreat.
Internet in a remote area will be challenging no matter what, but an updated router would solve many of the issues experienced by our groups and others who have reviewed. House was clean and exactly as advertised. To compete in the area simple updates like blinds, maintenance to the fire places (difficult to get started and went on and off on its own) and updated TVs that are easier to project to would make this ideal for corporate retreats like ours. You can’t beat the views and overall this place delivers.

Beautiful spot on a gorgeous mountain
The listing pictures don't do it justice. The property was beautiful, and the home much larger than it appeared. The kitchen and towels/linens are well stocked, and the house is very cozy. There is a lovely stream running down the mountain, a cute pond, and a great firepit. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Amazing Property
I took my staff on a management retreat and everyone loved the property. The views were breathtaking, the house was beautiful and spacious. We had plenty of room. The beds were very comfortable and we did have cell and WiFi service. My only concern was that the quilts were not washed, but the sheets were clean and fresh. Overall, I would give this stay a 9 out of 10. We would certainly stay again.

Beautiful views
We stayed here for a weekend getaway with a few good friends and their kids. The property is beautiful and this home offers a great outdoor area for hanging out around a fire or rocking on the porch admiring the views. The kids had plenty of woods to explore and play all day long. A few things you might need to know there is no cell service and the wifi didn’t work at all while we stayed…that wasn’t a big deal for us because we wanted a weekend unplugged. The hot tub stopped working the first night we stayed we tried to flip the breaker but it wouldn’t work and I didn’t have a way to get ahold of the owners due to no internet so I would definitely write their number down beforehand. The home offers plenty of space and beds for multiple family gatherings and I would most definitely stay here again.

Great get a way but had a few issues
Loved the home. Deck and rocking chairs were wonderful. Large table and nice living room. However, bad internet connection that had to be rebooted multiple times a day. Two small ac units couldn’t compete with the large area and humidity. Spiral staircase to lowered bedroom was a surprise that was not good. Remote location was very peaceful and quiet.

Beautiful & Private
Property was clean and very spacious. The beds and pillows were so comfortable. Was Concerned about limited AC in July, but the temp was 70s day and 50s at night. Very breezy and slept comfortably with windows open and did not need the AC. Only issue was limited to no cell signal and the WiFi was a little sketchy…but that learned that is expected across the entire area (Todd & Boone). It is a very peaceful location and appreciated the “unplugged” relaxing time. I will definitely book again.

Large, quiet, mountain home
Home was quiet and secluded. We were a multi family group with kids from 2-13 yrs old and each family had an area/room of the house and it definitely felt like we had our own space. House was also quiet. You could move around the house and not worry about waking/disturbing anyone. House was clean and stocked for a very comfortable stay.

We had 12 adults stay at this property and there was more than enough space for everyone. Maybe even too much space. Everyone fit around the dining room table. There are two good sized living rooms, massive and well kept out door space, and 11 beds excluding couches. The value of this property way exceeded the price. The porch and grounds were amazing. The maintenance man was very kind and super responsive. We only needed to contact him for the WiFi password and to purchase wood for the fire pit. The only downside- the internet was awful. It basically did not work. This is pretty common for the area in general- can’t fault the owner- just giving a heads up. There is not much cell service either. (There were two landlines available for use). It wasn’t that big of a deal for us- but if we had known, we would’ve maybe downloaded playlists before hand as streaming anything, even Spotify or pandora was impossible. Great place for an “unplugged” weekend and all around amazing place to stay.We will definitely look to stay here again if we return to the Boone area.

Upside: My family and I needed to get away! In looking for a home we looked for something large enough for our family of 8, remote and beautiful in location, and with a hot tub for us to enjoy! This home came with everything was wanted and we very much enjoyed our stay over all! Downside: The description and pictures really don’t do this place justice. Downstairs has its own separate little apartment area! Honestly, had I known I would have brought my elderly grandparents! It would have been perfect for them! The entire house came equipped with everything we needed minus foods! I knew it stated they would provide linens and towels, but I brought everything else! So I was thrilled to find toilet paper, paper towels, laundry soup, dish soup, hand soup, bar soup, etc all provided! It was fantastic! The house was very clean upon arrival but the jacuzzi had hair and bugs in it! I contacted owner, who said the cleaners did clean it. We attempted to dip out what we could but unfortunately about 10-15 mins into it the entire jacuzzi turned off and we couldn’t get it to turn back on the rest of our stay. So that was a bummer. The view description was a little much, it looks like the views could be amazing, but are greatly disrupted by trees. Not a big deal really, again we loved the area ourselves. The other thing that we either miss understood or was misdescribed was the small trout pond, we got excited and brought fishing poles and found a small shallow pond not much bigger than a gold fish pond that had no fish but multiple pieces of trash. We also kind of thought a small load of wood would be provided for the fire pit. We didn’t realize we would have to pay for it til we read so on the fridge. Again not a huge deal just would have been nice to know ahead of time. There were a couple of minor things that needed fixing, some broken glass around the edge of the woods, but last real complaint was just the lack of labeling on things, like how to use the gas fireplace, how to use the heaters and air units, how to use the WiFi, etc. I am trying to be thorough to hopefully help other be more prepared and to maybe give some suggestions to the owner to help future renters, but over I would definitely recommend this place! It was beautiful and relaxing and the location was truly breathtaking!! Sunrises were fantastic too! Thank you so much to the owners and I am sorry if my dozens of inquiries drove you crazy!
