Ashley Lake:
Ashley Lake is located in northwest Montana. Even though it is only 30 miles away from Kalispell's major shopping and restaurants, it is so quiet and pristine you would think it is hundreds of miles away from the city. It is stunning - crystal clear lake that has the color of Caribbean water. It lies among mountainous terrain with the lake at 3,500 feet elevation. It is the perfect place for all freshwater recreational activities; waterskiing, wakeboarding, swimming, fishing, kayaking/canoeing, and pleasure motor boating. It is more than a mile wide and five miles long, with over 16 miles of shoreline. Because of the limited public access to the lake boat traffic and noise are minimal. There are miles of trails surrounding the lakeshore and there are publicly accessible dirt roads for your mountain bikes and ATV's that go for miles around the West and North ends of the lake. In the winter there is great snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and ice fishing on the lake.
Fishing and Wildlife:
Rainbow trout, cutthroat trout and kokanee are the primary fish species in Ashley Lake. Some rainbows can get huge. A boat helps to fish successfully. Smooth water conditions are very common. Wildlife species that call Ashley Lake home; moose, deer, black bears, coyotes and wolves. If you're going up into the surrounding mountains, there is abundant wildlife and that means there are bears, so make sure you take your bear spray along.
Boat Ramp Access:
For those with motorboats, the boat tamp is available on the north side of the lake three miles away.
Closest Airport:
The closest airport to fly into when visiting is Glacier Park International Airport (FCA) in Kalispell, Montana, which is a 35 mile drive. It's also the closest airport to Glacier National Park.
Location Proximity:
51 miles to Glacier National Park

Loved the location. Lake is amazing with great trails for ATv’s. Only bummer was a storm came through that left us without power and internet for 10 hours.
Cabin is great. We’d go again

The Ashley Lake property was perfect for our family! We loved all the room in the house and the outside activities that were provided. The kids loved the slide and the adults and kids loved the kayacks and the hot tub! Everyone enjoyed hanging out in the lake together and viewing the lake every sunrise and sunset from the balcony. It was awesome! Thank you for a well stocked home througout. The DiBiase/Family

Utah's best vacation rentals was not helpful nor did they return my phone calls however Ken and Audrey the old owners of the home and the caretakers were amazing to work with. The warmness and hospitality was next to none. They were more than helpful and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was great. The property was clean and beautiful and everything we wanted. We had an amazing week full of beautiful memories. The vacation rental company on the other hand I would not recommend.

House worked great for 6 kids under 10 and 8 adults. We could all fit at the table for meals. Kitchen was well equipped and 2nd refrigerator was great. We stayed for a week and only left the property once for the red bus tour in Glacier. We did grab additional groceries on the way back from Glacier. The local managers were very helpful. I highly recommend this property if you want a beautiful spot to spend with your group for the week👍

Oh my goodness, loved it. For starters, Ashley Lake is probably the most beautiful lake I've ever seen. And the yard, fire pit, deck...well, every morning drinking coffee overlooking this lake, kind of spectacular. And then the house, great bedrooms and bathrooms. Spaces for our littles, room to be together and apart. Beautiful. A couple little things, the entry to the dock could be improved, a couple shades fixed here and there, but we stay in VRBOs a fair amount and i would not hesitate to give this a 5 star rating. Jus sayin, my parting prayer was Dear Lord, thank you for letting us come, please let us come again!

The house was very nice but I will never rent from this management company again. The communication was almost non-existant. They called me the day before check-in to tell be the AC was broken and a repairman would be coming to fix it. When that didn't happen I called them and the girl I talked with knew nothing about it but would have someone call me. That never happened. When we returned home I again called them to ask for a small refund, again the girl I talked to said she would have a manager call me. That never happened. DO NOT USE Utah's Best Vacation Rentals.

Great house for a family vacation! There was more than enough room for all 16 of us and the kids had a blast in the secret room. The views are incredible!
We went middle of October and the dock was already pulled (which was a bummer) but understandable. The gravel road to get to the house is long, but worth it. We would rent again!

We just could not have loved this place more. We had a family vacation with several family units, babies, and kids. There was a bedroom for everyone, comfortable beds, so many bathrooms, wonderful kitchen, etc. We especially loved using the hot tub and jumping in the lake. There were kayaks, a GREAT water slide and lots of odds and ends for kids. The only "downside" or upside depending on your preference, is the long drive to get anywhere. It took over an hour to get to Glacier, about 45 minutes to Kalispell. If that's what you're looking for, this is the place! But if you want to spend more time seeing local things, it is out of the way. It really is 10/10, LOVED it!!

Ok so after staying here for 6 days with 21 people I'm going to give you the good, the bad, and the ugly.
First let me start with the good! This house was spectacular. And I truly mean spectacular!!!!! It had any possible thing you could need to have an amazing vacation. They had bikes, paddle boards, a swim mat, kayaks, canoes, water slide, ANY appliance you could possibly think of. TWO refrigerators, double ovens, and so much more to even list. Upon arrival the house was very clean. Towels for everyone were left out for each person to grab and even the kitchen was stocked full of almost any spice you could need. The fire pit had lots of chairs and even sticks for smores!!! When I say they have thought of every detail in this house I truly mean it! LET ME BE CLEAR. WE DID NOT HAVE A SINGLE PROBLEM WHILE STAYING HERE. Looking at other reviews I had a little worry when booking but upon staying there was not one thing that went wrong in this house!!!! So don't let the bad reviews deter you from booking this home!!! Every single person who stayed here were talking about coming back to this house again. And for good reason.
Now for the "bad". Honestly the only three things I wish could have been different was..
1. The distance from the park. (which I knew how far when I booked. This is NOT an owner problem)... to many glacier is 3.5 hours and to the west entrance was about an hour and 50 minutes.. keep that in mind when you plan to visit the park multiple days.
2. The road to the house is 9 miles of gravel. Although it wasn't bad it also wasn't great. (the house for sure made up for this)
3. I absolutely wish the owner would do some landscaping outback. Cut some trees to see the lake more clearly and also pull up the weeds and such right off the lower level. But again this would NOT keep us from staying. It just would have been the "icing on the cake"
Finally the ugly... I don't have anything to say in this category bc everything was just so incredible.
As for commenting on the owners response time... It wasn't "great" but he did eventually answer. The trick is to text him on the number provided instead of the VRBO messages. He did always get back to me it just took a bit sometimes. I think he's a really nice guy and I loved staying in his house.
Over all 12/10 recommend this for a nice vacation spot.
KEN WE WILL BE BACK!!!!!!!

We had a great time and Ken was very responsive. This place is down a loooong gravel road and is on beautiful Lake Ashley. We brought paddle boards and canoes and had a blast. The lake is very serene and uncrowded. He has life jackets, bbq, one paddleboard, various water toys, and a lovely dock. There is a bit of deferred maintenance on the house; ac doesn’t seem to work upstairs. The washer broke while we were there; the upstairs was not vacuumed at all; it was all very dusty; the kids were finding uneaten old candy somewhere; we found lots of trash in the playroom . In the kitchen was most everything we needed to cook our special diets from scratch. All in all though, after we vacuumed, we really enjoyed this amazing place. Plenty of beds and baths, lovely views. Where can you find room for our whole giant family? The nature and the views cannot be beat. The lake is fun. I would recommend this property to the right group.

We had a great week enjoying the lake and house. Ken was very responsive and communicated well. Definitely worth it.
1.0 / 5.0
Worse communication I’ve experienced for a vacation rental. Expect 2-3 days (if you get a response at all) for each message.
The filter on the hot tub was disgusting. Hence, the hot tub was pretty gross. Tried changing out the water but it took a few days to warm up so there was a cold “hot tub”.
The refrigerator broke upstairs. The owner came with a new one but we wasted one of the nights there moving the fridge in for him with no kind of thanks given from the owner.

Amazing location right on the water, with everything you need to enjoy the peace and quiet.
5.0 / 5.0
Loved our time at this location. Gorgeous house right on the lake. It is very quiet. It does take about 20 minutes down a dirt road to get there so we were smart about getting our groceries or extra supplies coordinated in just one or two trips. Ken was wonderful and answered all of our requests quickly. We will definitely stay again!

Our Family Loves Boating . This property has plenty of Space and Great Views. We especially Love the large 12 seat table that was the gathering place for us. We will come again !!
4.0 / 5.0
The house is well-designed and spacious for large groups, with bedrooms that nicely accommodate individual families. The hidden room and outdoor play area provided plenty of entertainment for our young kids while there. Activities for older kids and adults were more limited during our stay since the dock hadn’t been set up yet, and the water was too cold. Though we tried some fishing with the aluminum boat, the result was disappointing for us. However, coming and going from Kalispell and Whitefish turned out to be easier and more pleasant than what we had expected. As off-season visitors, we still felt like we had a good Montana experience by staying at this property.

The home and view was beautiful! There was plenty of room for everyone with beds to spare. Anything you needed for meal prep was there. If we had one complaint it was the long gravel road but to have what we did it sure isn't a deal breaker. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

We spent a fabulous week at the Wallace’s place. It was a bit off the beaten path, but the house was well appointed and we had everything needed to keep us busy!

Ashley Lake is one of the most beautiful places I've been in the entire world, and this house is perfectly located. Add to that a ton of space-- plenty for our group of 13 family members of all ages-- and the wonderful owners, Ken and Audrey, and you have a dream vacation. Make sure you take advantage of their water package, skiing, wakeboarding, tubing and jumping off the boat to swim in the middle of the lake was the highlight of our trip. Book this house if you can!!

Beautiful home on Ashley Lake. Well off the beaten path so it was very private and quiet. Family vacation with 12 people and we had plenty of room. Cool water slide into the lake.. kayaks available.
2.0 / 5.0
Our family of 18 (10 kids/8 adults), stayed here for 6 days and wonderful time! We used all it had to offer to include the hot tub (filled with lake water), kayaks, metal rowboat, waterslide, fishing gear, 'hidden toy room,' play set etc. *Note-one seat of the see-saw is missing. We enjoyed large family meals in the well stocked kitchen. We enjoyed having extra towels for the bath and for the water activities. We also enjoyed spending time using the ping pong table and the very nice deck. We loved the view and the accessibility to the lake from the house! We also loved using the fire pit in the evenings. During our stay, we experienced difficulties reaching the owner, Ken Wallace. After three emails to confirm, we were told we'd have access to many small life jackets during our stay but upon arrival, we were unable to access them since they were locked in a storage building. We tried to contact Ken via VRBO's email, cell phone and email but he did not respond. He actually showed up, surprising all of us! We received the life jackets after we talked to him. We also ran into some difficulty with the projector and TV screen in the large basement TV area. The projector came with a Kindle Fire stick and directions that were not coherent. Our group's resident technology guru could not set the system up for the kids. We had a picture but we did not have sound. We asked Ken about it and he told us his son was the one to set it up. To be honest, I'm not sure if anyone tried the system after talking to Ken. It was close to the end of our stay and we didn't want to watch TV, we wanted to squeeze in more Montana activities. Even though we didn't use the system, we wished it was working upon arrival. For a large or small group, we'd all recommend this property! Be prepared to drive along a gravel road to get to it!

Perfect gathering spot for our family of all ages. The kids, young and old, checked out the water slide and enjoyed the splash in the lake. Water was a little too cold this early but they still played by the dock in the shallower water. The older kids kayaked all over on the pristine and very calm water. Fishing was a big hit with little Kokanee salmon quite easy to catch and release. We enjoyed the fire pit, jungle gym, secret room, hot tub, games galore and movie theatre. There is plenty of room for everyone to have alone time too and lots if space for family meals. The views at sunrise and sunset were breathtaking. Even lightning over the mountains was dramatic. Ken and Audrey were in the house right next door and offered ideas, assistance when needed and the use of their wet suits so the littles could enjoy the lake even more. They are so kind and felt like they were close friends or family rather than just hosts. I hope we can stay again soon!

This was the perfect property and the couple who owns the home is very friendly. They were helpful throughout the stay and made us feel welcome.

We decided to rent this house on Ashley Lake mostly because of the positive reviews we had read on-line. Now we gladly add ours to the list! This vacation exceeded all our expectations! Ashley Lake is like a well kept secret-a hidden treasure! It is gorgeous! The water is incredibly clear and beautiful. We thought we'd have to travel to the Carribean to find water like that. Kayaking on it was amazing. You will not regret vacationing here. The house is beautiful and spacious, with huge windows overlooking the lake. Our kids loved the water slide, the secret playroom, the theater room and the fire pit. Our parents loved sitting on the deck, watching the lunes and taking pictures of the incredible sunrises and sunsets. The Wallaces could not have been kinder or more helpful. They made our stay extra special. The kids loved waterskiing and tubing with them on the lake. We were very happy to stay there all week-only left once to see Glacier National Park. We would love to go back!
