Historic Renovated Barn at Boorn Brook Farm - Manchester Vermont
About this house rental
Nestled in Vermont, this lovely house for $476 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. Your home is the beautifully restored historic French inspired barn, built in the 1820's, which has wide-plank floors, hand-hewn beams, soaring ceilings, stone fireplaces and New England charm. Perfect for a romantic getaway, a country vacation for a small family or a quiet retreat to nature, Boorn Brook Farm is the quintessential Vermont experience! Once the country estate and studio of famed painter and fly fishing enthusiast Ogden Pleissner, Boorn Brook Farm has been restored to its original splendor. Situated on 53 acres of open meadows and old apple orchards with stunning 360 degree mountain views, Boorn Brook Farm is protected by Lye Brook National Forest, yet within 5 minutes of the town centers of Manchester and Manchester Center. Boorn Brook Farm is also the new home of Green Mountain Falconry School! In the summer, take falconry lessons on site, swim in the spring-fed pond with a beach, play tennis on the private court next to the Barn, hike on the Farm's private trails or in the bordering Lye Brook Wilderness, fish in the brook and the on-site trout pond , or simply relax in one of the hammocks. Autumn is a magical time at Boorn Brook Farm where the mountains behind and in front of the Farm come alive with color. All the attractions of summer are available except with the need for a sweater in the evening! Return home to build a fire in the stone fireplace, bake some bread in the stone bread oven in the fully equipped kitchen, play a game of pool in the game room, sip some hot chocolate and then watch the sun set behind Equinox Mountain from the outdoors firepit or the hot tub, right outside your master bedroom! In the winter, skate on the pond, sled on the hill, snowshoe or cross country ski on the back trails, ski or snowboard at nearby Stratton or Bromley Mountains. Nearby are sleigh rides, great restaurants and shopping in Manchester, which is a short 5 minute ride from Boorn Brook Farm. Children and adults alike will also enjoy our farm pets, our adorable goats, Pan and Axel! Dogs are welcome here on the farm. Spent 3 nights in this unique, renovated, rustic barn for New Years Weekend. Everything we needed for a fun, romantic weekend. The town is quaint with plenty to do. We took a class in hot glass blowing & came home with awesome souvenirs. At the barn, we hiked the property, enjoyed the hot tub, made roaring fires, enjoyed the atmosphere, cooked, enjoyed wine & the decorated Christmas Tree. Our host Jeff was very helpful & accommodating. The goats & chickens were so fun to interact with. Nothing remotely negative to mention. Thank you Jeff.

The listing doesn’t do this property justice! The renovated barn is cozy and spacious, and well-appointed for a family. We look forward to staying again in the summer season.

The place was as advertised. Great winter stay with a large hill to sled on. Grounds to snowshoe, hot tub, fireplace great open renovated barn, local ski mountains and upscale / boutique shopping in the town center. Highly recommend the place and expect to return again.

The Historic Renovated Barn at Boorn Brook Farm was even better than we expected. The property is beautifully nested in the hills just outside of Manchester and the rental is well maintained, both inside the barn and outside the barn. It's obvious a lot of love has gone into this property and I would highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a quiet and relaxing getaway to read, relax around the fireplace, or just enjoy the fresh air.

Our experience at Boorn Brook Barn was amazing, taking in the historic beauty of the site that was built 200 years ago and the surrounding mountains dressed in bright red and yellow , all stunning, all breathtaking. Jeff was there every step of the way when we needed help or just a simple advice, he is a very fine person. There are tons of activities to be had, playing tennis, billiards, basketball, laying lazily at the perfect green grass, eating breakfast and dinner outdoors and wishing that every moment will forever last. We plan to visit every autumn, forgot to tell you about Manchester town a few minutes drive, we shopped till we dropped...it was memorable!

We so enjoyed our 5 day stay at the barn! So much character & charm. Plenty of space for all of us. The hot tub was a nice treat. We loved visiting with Pan & Axle (the goats). Jeff and Sofie made us feel at home and were available if we needed anything. I highly recommend a stay at the Barn!

My family and dog had a great time at the barn. The property is beautiful and surrounded by mountains. The barn is very large and much nicer in person. We enjoyed playing pool, relaxing by the outdoor fire pit, walking the trails on the property and fishing. Our dog loved going on hikes and swimming in the pond. There are many nice hikes in the area and Manchester is a short drive away, so the location was perfect for us.

My family and I really enjoyed our stay on the farm. The barn was charming and pristine. I would highly recommend. We needed the relaxing atmosphere to recharge. Everything was immaculate inside our cozy barn. We were comfortable cooking in kitchen and there is a billiards room and hot tub. Fire pit was fun in evenings. The goats were awesome to visit each morning. Our dog Gracie loved the property. My boys enjoyed fishing in pond. The trail along the river was a fun daily walk for us. Overall an A+ stay. We have traveled all over the country and we were impressed. We would love to come back in the fall. Jeff and Sophie are excellent hosts.

It was a perfect property for exploring both the surrounding countryside and the town of Manchester. We'll be back

We couldn't be happier with out stay. Plenty of space for a family of 5 + our dog. The charm of the barn, the full kitchen, fireplace, and two bathrooms made for a very comfortable stay. The property is beautiful for hiking or snowshoeing given that it backs up to so much green space. The owner was very friendly and helpful when we had some travel hiccups from a Winter storm. We have gone now two years in a row and would love to come back. It's one of those places you hope will stay a secret :)

The barn was perfect for our family of 5. We skied Stratton 2 days and had a blast. We were lucky enough to have an amazing snow storm while there and this made our trip even more exciting. The fireplace is a focal point, is great and provides lots of great vibes and heat, the billiards table was fun and we enjoyed the goats and surroundings. we loved all being in the open space of the great room, but close enough to each other to allow for reading, computer work and other down time. The hike that is close by is within walking distance and we will be back for time to hike again. Jeff left us a basket of goodies which were appreciated, and we all loved the homemade honey. We recommend!

We (four adults and two dogs) stayed for a long weekend in this very comfortable, spacious and charmingly decorated, renovated barn. The owner, Jeff, met us upon our arrival and welcomed us with a gift basket of local goodies, including honey from his apiary. Despite the disappointing lack of snow, we enjoyed hiking the trails on the property and the adjacent Lye Brook Falls forest, visiting with the resident goats, playing pool in the barn's billiards room, and dips in the outdoor hot tub with views of the mountains in the distance. Jeff responded promptly to a couple questions we had about local dining and hiking trails and his recommendations were spot on. We had a wonderful stay and would happily return again.

The property is fantastic. We stayed for a weekend of skiing (25-30min drive to Stratton), and though we were unable to ski due to weather, we had an amazing time at the barn. We brought two dogs with us who loved running around outside. The kitchen is well equipped, the house is clean and comfy, and the property itself is beautiful. Would highly recommend staying here in any season.

The barn at Boorn Brook farms is an authentic rustic renovated barn. It is absolutely beautiful and the surrounding area is gorgeous. We would definitely come back. The gently falling snow and the smell of the fire added to the magic.

We loved every minute of staying at Boorn Brook Farm. From the jaw dropping mountain views to the charming comfortable decor, the amazing hot tub, and tranquil setting we couldn’t have asked for more. The welcome basket with delicious locally made treats Jeff made for us was such a nice surprise. Jeff was so nice to greet us upon our arrival and it was good to know he was nearby if we had any questions or concerns. This was our first stay in Vermont and it was absolutely perfect! Thank you Jeff! We hope to be back soon!

The pictures don't do the property justice. The charm, the scenery, the close proximity to town and ski resorts... I could go on and on. Great way to decompress and get step away from the daily grind.

The barn and property are a great place to spend some quality time with friends and family. Looking forward to staying there again in the Spring or Summer.

Beautiful property and grounds. We were looking for a weekend escape and wanted to stay in a property with character and access to shops, restaurants and hikes. Boorn Brook Farm checked all those boxes and exceeded our expectations. Our boys fell in love with the goats and my husband and I got a much needed reprieve from city life. Everyone is already asking if we can be "yearly renters".

Jeff is a very nice and communicative host. We had a great time on the farm, we didn't need any help but knowing we could consult Jeff or his property manager anytime was comforting.
The welcome basket he had waiting for us was generous. The property is amazing and we were able to run our dogs around the gorgeous well kept property and they had the time of their lives. Walking the path around the property was a lot of fun and the proximity to the town was perfect.
The barn was huge, well stocked with all the things we could need, and there were more amenities to that awesome place than we had time.
We had so much fun! It was a perfect New England getaway for a weekend. Thanks again Jeff!

I hesitate to gush too much about our stay so as to keep the crowds from this special place! The barn was immaculate and had so many special touches, including a lovely welcome basket from our host, complete with honey harvested on site! The property was incredible, and we loved reading in the Adirondack chairs while overlooking the mountains, visiting the goats, hiking the trails (with hawks on the falconry tour— don’t miss it- totally worth the cost!), fishing in the pond and enjoying the incredible details of the barn and it’s thoughtful, upscale decor. The property made it hard to leave, but we did enjoy exploring the town of Manchester, especially visiting the pond at the Orvis store on a beautiful fall day and watching a blue heron hunt up close! The farm offered the perfect back drop to our family getaway in the last few weeks of my maternity leave, and was absolutely perfect for both adults and kids alike. My son’s only complaint was that he couldn’t get the antique trucks out of the beautiful display coffee table to play with :) but he loved the pool table and the fireplace which he helped his dad to keep stoked. We would love to visit in the summer when the pond is open for swimming! Thank you Jeff and team for the most peaceful, relaxing visit- it felt like landing in a big ‘hug’ of Vermont beauty!

I recently stayed here and took a Falconry class on the property with Green Man Falconry School. Fabulous! Home is beautiful and spacious. Do be aware that second bedroom is u some steep stairs with no bathroom on that level behind a curtain. Home is historic and really interesting and Jeff was super attentive to phone calls and resolving any issues that arose, He had wood stocked for us and a lovely welcome basket of local goodies. So nice.
The only reason I gave one 4 star rating was that we did have one issue with many ladybugs but Jeff answered my call and came immediately and even returned later to insure issue was resolved. I would definitely recommend this place, so close to beautiful Manchester and so much to do, drinks at the Equinox, drive to the top of Mt Equinox for picnic lunch, visit to sheep farm, farm stands, hiking, birding, shopping, the list goes on and on
Quiet and peaceful but near to everything. Great choice! Thank you, Jeff for all you did to make us comfortable and happy.

The house is charming and cozy, the property is breathtaking, and the rental offers abundant activities (fishing, pet goats, tennis court, hot tub etc). The host is gracious and helpful. The view of fall foliage was spectacular. We also had a great time using the beehive pizza oven! Best spot ever!

We loved our time at Boorn Brook Farm. Staying in the beautiful historical barn was a great experience. We had so much fun playing pool, we are tempted to buy a table ourselves!
Our family had the benefit of arriving as the leaves were changing, which only added to the beauty of the farm. The area around the pond is lovely and relaxing. We also enjoyed walking the trails at the farm. The trail to Lye Brook Falls is just down the road and is a must if you enjoy hiking.
The barn was very clean and communication with the owner was very easy.

The barn lives up to the expectations set by the pictures and it is quite spectacular. The setting is serene and picturesque. The barns many light switches and thermostats took some time to figure out. Overall this was a great getaway and seemed like the kind of experience southern Vermont is all about.

The barn was amazing. We loved Jeff. He was very easy to work with and so friendly when we met him. The living area is so wonderful. The fireplace made it so cozy. The property is beautiful and such a lovely place to take a walk. A few negatives were, the sofa in the living room. It was velvety and we kept sliding off if it. 😅 The bathrooms were the other issue. The master bath could use some updating and the other bathroom was very small for a couple. It was difficult for the couple to come down the staircase in the middle of the night. And please have your staff clean better. The microwave was terribly dirty. I think owners of b&b's should spend the night in them so they know what guests are experiencing.

We had a great stay at Boorn Brook Farms for 4 nights last week. Jeff was an excellent host and made the process very easy. Had our 2 small rescue dogs with us, and they thoroughly enjoyed all of the open space, as well as the fenced in courtyard. Would highly recommend for a quiet and scenic getaway. Also, if you enjoy hiking, the Lye Brook Falls trail head is only a 2 minute drive away. We enjoyed all of the local restaurants, even though some aren't open every day. Breakfasts were excellent at "Up for Breakfast" and "The Little Rooster". And we went to 4 excellent dinners - Raven's Den, Reluctant Panther, Dorset Inn, and Johnny Seesaws. We hope to be back to Jeff's place again soon!

Jeff is a wonderful A+ host. We thoroughly enjoyed the property. If you are looking to relax, this is the place. There’s animals, resting places, hiking trails, views and friendly care-takers. We were welcomed to join in for some impromptu grape crushing that will remain a wonderful memory for my teen son. We also met with the master falconer on the property and that experience is highly recommended. It’s a 5 minute ride to Manchester center. Plenty of food shopping and restaurants nearby if that’s your thing. As far as the stay itself, this is a quaint barn property that is well maintained. If you are seeking a crisp, pristine newly built modern stay, this may not be a fit for you. If you are seeking a Vermont country experience, with an authentic, aged building that is refurbished and quite comfortable, this is exactly the spot for you. There was a welcome basket, wood for a fire, well stocked kitchen and coffee, well functioning showers with hot water for our family of 4, comfortable beds and linens. Perfect for a romantic weekend or a family stay. I wrote in the guest book that we came and guests and left as friends. We will be back!

Just a perfect experience. Having the entire barn and property to ourselves was great. Our dog loved being able to roam the beautiful property. The Barn had everything we needed and the kitchen was well stocked. We even squeezed in a game of Pickleball on the tennis court in between all the hiking (and relaxing).
Can’t wait to go back!

This trip was our second to the Barn in the past five years. We loved it then and now! You cannot beat the comfort and ambiance of the barn located within a quiet wide open space while only a 5 -10 minute drive to the bustling town center and all the amenities and attractions the Manchester area has to offer. Always a relaxed vibe and enjoyable family stay at this property. A bonus is that our family dog is able to join us at this property! Thanks for everything Jeff, you are a wonderful host. We will certainly be back for a third trip!

Absolutely beautiful and just like the pictures. The setting is superb and the town (5 minutes away) is a gem in the Green Mountains.
Thank you Jeff for making feel so welcome. We’ll be back for sure!

Unique property. Great pool table and room. Not as private as we would have preferred. Beautiful area.

While conveniently close to Manchester, Boorn Brook Farm was very quiet, rural, had excellent views, and was located at the base of the Green Mountains in a beautiful setting. The barn was very unique, clean, and rustic. We hiked several nearby trails, and hiked up Boorn Brook in water shoes, slippery but fantastic! The owner and staff were extremely friendly and provided a number of suggestions for outdoor activities.

If you’re booking in Manchester, book the Boorn Brook Farm before it’s taken. The beautiful property is close to town and is the quintessential Vermont stay. It was everything we hoped for and so much more.
