LOCATION:
The location is my favorite thing about the property. I enjoy the amazing breezes and the convenience of a central location. The entire island is only 2.5 miles long and the entire island is accessible by a golf cart and/or bikes. The home is conveniently located mid-island and just 1 block from Memorial Park which has a YMCA, Library, island-themed playground, and basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts. Additionally, the home is located close to the beach access boardwalk at 6th Street via a short 4-block walk (roughly a 5 minute stroll).

I’ve stayed at a lot VRBOs. This place was exactly as depicted. It was awesome. For workaholics like us, we were able to unwind in this cute beach home that had everything you needed. The porch swings are the best and great for relaxing while listening to the birds sing. The pool was welcoming and very clean. We rented the golf cart during our stay, and it was a blast driving the backroads on the island. The beach is close by and easily accessible. Our host, Missy, was quick to respond if we had any questions. We definitely will be back.

We loved every minute of our visit to The Salty Mermaid! This fabulous cottage has absolutely everything you need for the perfect vacation. All of the outdoor amenities including the hanging beds, heated pool, hot tub, fire pit, corn hole, ping ping table, and plenty of comfortable outdoor adirondacks and loungers are amazing. And inside no detail has been overlooked with gorgeous decore, super comfy beds and bedding, plenty of towels, fully loaded kitchen with great cooking options, and the cutest tableware and dishes. The location is also great with beautiful lush backyard landscaping and just a short walk to the beach. Missy was the perfect host and very kind and accommodating. We can’t wait to visit again! We loved the property! It is very well cared for, cozy and unique. We loved the location! Quiet neighborhood & we walked everywhere we wanted to go. If we visit Tybee again, we will stay at The Salty Mermaid for sure! We added the extra of heating the pool & I would recommend this. Our family really enjoyed the pool, hot tub & patio area!

The Salty Mermaid was everything we had wished for and more. The location is great for the beach and easy walking since it is a nice mid-point of Tybee. The over all consensus was it was "the cutest VRBO ever" by the entire group. The pool was heated and warm enough to swim in February and the hot tub and firepit were great at night. Missy was very responsible via VRBO app and text upon arrival.

Beautiful cottage , perfectly themed for a girls trip. Plenty of space for eating, relaxing,and hanging out in the mermaid lagoon! We arrived during a heat wave and missy checked in on us and made sure we had everything we needed and were comfortable.great home base for exploring the island, and close to Savannah. Our favorite part of the trip was hanging by the pool. Highly recommend!

This place is clean, cozy and very comfortable. The swings on the porch were our favorite part! I read other reviews that say it’s a very short walk to the beach…I wouldn’t say that. Best to drive and park, which can get pricey. The pool is very small but serves its purpose for a quick dip. The owner was VERY attentive and responsive. Also loved how stocked the place was w body wash, shampoo, kitchen products, cleaning products, laundry detergent etc. It was amazing…far more provided than any other house I’ve rented! Plenty of fans provided as well (if you have to sleep w a fan like me!). We did have a raccoon walk right by us and up the steps to the kitchen porch so don’t leave any food/garbage outside! Would definitely stay here again with 6 or less adults. Any more would be a little tight.

We were a group of 4 adults and 4 children staying at the Salty Mermaid and we really enjoyed our trip. We spent lots of time in the pool and hot tub and on the swings on the screened in front porch. We rented bikes and it was a fast ride to the beach. Would definitely stay here again!

We had a wonderful time staying at the Salty Mermaid cottage. The house is lovely. The swings on the front porch are comfy and relaxing (we spent so much time there). The location is great. The kids really enjoyed the bunk beds. We had a few questions for Missy, the host. She was always very responsive and kind. We would definitely stay here again.

We loved this property! Unfortunately the weather was terrible all weekend, we didn't even make it to the beach. But the house had plenty of room to hang out and enjoy ourselves (the ping pong table and hot tub were clutch!). Would absolutely recommend this property!!

We didn't spend too much time on the property, just about 2 nights. We left a bit early because of the storms that had come through. As a result of those storms, the pool had so much debris which made swimming impossible. The owner was super sweet about it and refunded us the full pool heating amount, but we were definitely bummed that swimming was off the table, as having a pool is the most important aspect of our vacation rentals. (Note: it was unclear if they could have sent someone over to clean the pool. I believe that may have been an option, but we were unsure how long it would take and we didn't want to get charged to heat the pool, so we just opted to take the refund.)
The beds were very comfortable and the location was perfect. And, the porch (oh the porch!) is stunning. All in all, a lovely property.

We so enjoyed our Tybee staycation at the Salty Mermaid! The home was immaculate and stylish all decked for the holiday. Communication was top notch as well.
We partook in the pool and hot tub and used roasted marshmallows in fire pit. The privacy and gardens in the backyard provide an oasis from any bustling at the beach. The front porch is dreamy for reading/lounging. Neighborhood was quiet and friendly and we enjoyed the proximity to ocean, shops, and restaurants nearby. The hot chocolate station was very appreciated by the kids and just underscores the thoughtfulness of the host!

Girls weekend away to celebrate all of our 40th birthdays. The screened in porch and the swings made our trip! We loved sitting out there and catching up with one another. We also loved that it was close to Savannah for a quick trip in for shopping and eating.

I had my bachelorette weekend in Savannah! We stayed in Tybee Island at the Salty Mermaid! It was such a quaint and beautiful house that the minute you walk in it feels like home away from home! Our favorite thing was the porch swings!! We watched movies, took naps, and shared many laughs. We enjoyed the pool! After adventuring in downtown Savannah all day it was nice to come home and put your bathing suit on and relax in the pool! Highly would recommend to anyone!

Our favorite places on The Salty Mermaid were the spacious front porch and the hot tub and pool. The front porch had two large swinging beds with lots of room for the family. It was completely screened in which caught cool breezes in the evening. The hot tub was large and located across from the pool. The cottage itself was adorable and the owner was available for any concerns we had and was quick to reply. The beach was about 6 blocks aways and was a nice walk. We're already planning our next vacation on Tybee Island!

Lovely cottage
This was the cutest, well decorated cottage I’ve stayed in on Tybee. It’s older and the rooms are not very large but so beautifully decorated. The owner is amazing, responsive and aims to please. The children loved the pool so only went to the beach 3 times( but we had small ones so easier.) Golf cart is a must in my opinion since it parks free on the island.

Our family absolutely loved this place !
This house is SO cozy. It has everything you could need and more. We loved the pool and hot tub as well as being able to play corn hole and ping pong. It was great to have all the beach equipment and toys you needed as well. We also loved the big porch and swings. Everyone ended up there after a long day of bracing and exploring. This so much for hosting such a wonderful place.

Perfect and charming
We have older kids (late teens / early 20s) and it was perfect for us. All the different spaces for hanging out are fantastic and make the house feel bigger — we used the lovely screened porch and dipping pool Every. Single. Day. 7-8 min walk to the beach (incredible beach if you haven’t been to Tybee before), made even easier with the beach buggy. And most of all, the owner is incredibly responsive and thoughtful…we had a great week in this house!

Perfect vacation cottage!
I would highly recommend this property to any family or groups of people - it was perfect! The pool is heated and was the perfect place for our kids to hang out while we were at the house. The host was incredibly responsive (even ordered a new Keurig for us - had it delivered the next morning- because the one there broke).

Great for young families.
This is a sweet little cottage with fun extras for kids...a heated pool, hot tub, ping pong, cornhole, and our girls favorite were the swinging beds on the front porch. It's small, was perfect for a family of 5. Very clean and nicely decorated, lots of nice touches like plenty of bath products, toliet paper, garage bags, dish soap, nice kitchen supplies, etc. So nice to not have to buy every little thing you might need. Host is awesome, super responsive and helpful, happy to give recommendations on the island, etc. We hope to return!

We visited the salty mermaid with some extended family during the kids spring breaks. The pool, hot tub and front porch swings really made our stay. Having 2 full bathrooms plus the pool bath was great. Everything was clean and as described. We had some questions along the way and Missy was extremely responsive. You could tell she truly cared about the quality of our stay.
