About this apartment rental
Eggemoggin Reach is home to some of the most ardent sailors around. From the front yard, you can watch the yatchs as well as nesting osprey, bald eagles, the occasional seal, and many sea birds. Our backyard is often visited by pileated woodpeckers. Rental of this cozy, all inclusive apartment includes use of 300+ ft of private ocean frontage, a huge front yard with 2 picnic areas, charcoal grill, a semi-private dock, 2 ocean kayaks, a row boat, and 2 ocean kayaks. A short kayak ride away, you can watch starfish as they move about on the rocks under the crystal clear water. Blue mussels can be gathered from the rocks in the cove and cooked in the well-equipped kitchen of the apartment. There are lobsters, crab meat, clams and fish from local fishermen. There are also many restaurants and shops in the area. Few properties offer as continual parade of sailboats, fishing boats and schooners passing the front yard as this one!
The perfect place:: This mother-in-law apartment is the perfect place to forget the world and its stresses. As you sip coffee on the balcony, reading your favorite book or paper, you can hear the sea gulls on the beach and the wind in the trees.
If you prefer, you can take your morning coffee out to the benches at the end of the pier and watch the sunrise. Any time of day, the views and peace are rejuvenating and relaxing.
Don't like to relax? Paddle a kayak or row the boat around Stave Island or along the shore of Eggemoggin Reach. Be sure to watch for the starfish on the rocks at the point of Stave Island and elsewhere. Most couples who stay for a week, wish they could stay for two.
The perfect island: Little Deer Isle and Deer Isle are actually two islands joined by a causeway. The communities are marvelous. You have the opportunity to watch fishermen on the job and arts of all types. The arts are such an important part of the island community that it was easy to raise private dollars to add a performing arts theater to the new elementary school. The Reach Center for the Arts is a state of the art auditorium and is used by the school and the community to produce and provide live performances of all types. It is fun to see your local doctor, child, or fisherman performing in such productions as 'Little Orphan Annie.' At least four full plays are performed every year along with many music venues including jazz. The Stonington Opera House also provides nightly entertainment through movies, plays, and performances of all types. This year, the Opera House and the Reach Auditorium have received a Kennedy Center for the Arts grant to further expand their performances and offerings.
Other offerings: Haystack School of Art, Seamark School, and several local artists offer classes in glass blowing, metal sculpture, painting, pottery, etc., etc. Authors provide book readings, individuals from around the world provide lectures and learning opportunities, Ocean Adventures and others offer boat and kayak rentals, and there are at least six walking trails provided by various groups and individuals. There is absolutely no opportunity to come to this area and be bored.

We had a great stay at Sharon's apartment on Little Deer Isle. Well equipped and comfortable apartment- everything we needed. Sharon was helpful with suggestions and communicated promptly. We loved exploring around LDI for a few days. It's a quieter location and that was perfect for us. Took the kayaks out for a paddle around the Reach. Breakfast out on the deck in the mornings. Found many walks and swimming holes during our time there all within close proximity to the apartment. Would visit again.

I must admit, I have never heard of Little Deer Island, and a bit nervous about booking there, but wanted a quiet getaway. This place on ‘The Reach’ turned out perfect for us! My partner was a little worried we were so far from town-4 miles to Deer Island, a bit farther to bigger town on mainland- but relaxed after 1st day. Our dog was allowed there & we took long daily walks all over the islands. She especially loved Lily’s Pond a few miles away, for a dog who never swam- she did great.
Our apartment was very nice, most of the needs of home provided! LR, kitchen bedroom & full bathroom with washer and toilet. Sharon (our hostess) was wonderful, very personable., so nice. Recommended several great places to see, where to buy lobsters & how to cook them properly. She has 2 fantastic cats, Zeus & Thor. We could watch them & island wildlife out the LR windows, so enjoyable. It was so quiet at night, almost eerie at first, then refreshing and wonderful to sleep in. The sky was lit up at night with stars and the brightest moon I’ve ever seen- even Chuck was impressed. We’d walk down to the dock & just ogle at the sight. People who we met were also very friendly, full of information, suggestions. A lot of fun just exploring.
On a whole- I loved this place- because of the peace. If you want excitement, might not be the right fit, but if you crave peace & quiet- go here. You won’t be disappointed.

Nice serene property located outside of Acadia. Quiet place to relax after hiking all day.

My perfect balance of nature and comfortable accommodations (as you might guess, I'm not a camper), with great privacy and a well-equipped kitchen. We walked down to the beach pretty much every day, harvested some mussels for one dinner, sat out on the little deck in the mornings and evenings, took a short drive to Blue Hill for a gentle hike, and drove down to Stonington to check it out. Saw deer, ospreys, ravens, and a loon, among other wildlife. Our goal was relaxation, not to "do things", and this apartment completely delivered.

Sharon greeted us as we came in and gave us some ideas on places to see and places to eat. The apartment was in a great location and a perfect size for a couple. The view of the water from the deck was slightly impeded by trees, but the view from the dock was fantastic. We had a great time using the kayaks too. We would stay at this location again.

We very much enjoyed our stay. Nice quiet location with private beach access. Only bad part was the water pressure for shower was low. But overall shower was fine. No complaints, I would definitely stay again if I were to return to Maine.

The ocean was right in our backyard. This location was peaceful withe spectacular views from the shoreline. We enjoyed wading when the tide was out. Our host, Sharon, was fabulous. This was a good spot between our two favorite towns, Camden and Bar Harbor, on the eastern coastline. Very close to Stonington...a great place to venture.

The property was just as advertised. Plenty of room for two people and two dogs. I would highly recommend this property to anyone who values quiet and privacy.

Wind down a long driveway to find this gem, walk up the stairs and find an adorable little spot on Eggemoggin Reach. The bed was comfortable. The sofa sits very low but is ok once you get down to it. Kitchen is fully equipped. The view from the porch is perfect for morning coffee. I’m hoping to return.

This is a very comfortable apartment with views of the bay and Eggemoggin reach.

Comfortable stay
This is a comfortable place in a good location away from the crowds of Acadia. Place is clean and bed is comfortable. It’s a rocky beach with a view of the bridge. There are benches at the end of the dock to sit. It’s not convenient to use the kayaks. If you plan to use them be sure to use them at high tide. You will need to get them down to the beach or end of the long dock, maneuvering them up and down stairs either way.
The place may not have everything you need if you plan to cook or make coffee. The furnishings seem old and dusty. My husband did not appreciate the low toilet and scratchy toilet paper. But overall still a fine place to stay for a couple nights.

Lovely apartment, perfect location
The apartment was private, cozy, clean, and well appointed with a lovely view, all for a very fair price! While I didn't get a chance to use the kayaks it was a great bonus to have the option. Sharon one of the owners was lovely, helpful and very communicative. I came to go to Acadia and that was only an hour away, and the location was excellent with easy access to many wonderful places. It is a place I would love to come back to!

Beautiful Location and Super Hosts
Our stay was short (Thursday-Sunday), but we would definitely return. The accomodations are perfect for a couple who don't mind climbing a set of steps to a beauiful view of the cove. Sharon was super quick to answer all questions and made checking in and out easy. It's quiet and lovely, and we were glad for such a comfortable spot to rest and then head out for a full day! We hope to return.

Great relaxing getaway
I was looking to get away for a few days before starting my new job. This place was absolutely perfect. Sharon was fantastic and was available anytime I needed her, which wasn't very much! I was able to enjoy a short walk on the beach in the backyard, there is something very peaceful about New England oceans in the winter! I spent most of my time in the apartment, as planned. I forgot to bring books with me, but there was bookcase with plenty of titles for me to choose from. I chose one of the many puzzles that were also there and spent 3 days working on, and finishing, it! Everything was very clean and I had everything I needed to close myself off from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I absolutely plan to visit again in the future!

Sharon is the most friendly host and has a keen knowledge of the area.
The apartment is spacious for two adults. Has everything you will need. Swell view of the water.
Close to 15 min drive for all recreational experiences; hiking , shops and day trips in the car.
We will definitely be back to relax and enjoy the privacy of the rental.
A+ Vacation!

Remote little get away
Overall it was a nice place. Very rustic, but clean. Was rainy and wet while we were there, so outside was unuseable. We did run out thru the swampy grass to get to dock. Was great view, but a little tricky getting in and out.

Location was wonderful
My spouse and I had a wonderful 3 night stay, the apt was just as listed. We stopped at a grocery store on the way to Deer Isle and did most of our own meal prep and found everything we needed in the well stocked kitchen. Bed was very comfortable. We did not watch tv but the wifi worked well. Loved walking out to the dock and enjoying nature, make sure to have shoes that can get wet. Did a lot of hiking and birdwatching this trip. Had beautiful weather which made it very hard to leave.
