About this house rental
A Family “To-Gather-Nest” Only Steps to Historic Manomet Bluffs Beach! I'm happy to offer your family and friends a welcoming antique Arts and Crafts Style Beach Bungalow in the nostalgic "Manomet Bluffs" area of Plymouth, MA. Located just 10 minutes from America's Hometown. Including Plimoth Patuxet, Mayflower II, Plymouth Rock and more. Our house is a comfortable 5 bedroom/3 bathroom (with additional outdoor shower). A year-round cottage, of course includes a seasonal sleeping porch with 4 twin beds (bedroom #5), and it’s heated. Our home can accommodate up to 16 people in beds. Our base rate is set for a family of 10 then an affordable extra guests rate is added for groups traveling with up to 16 people. Plenty of room inside and outside for all.
Often called “charming”, our Year-Round get-away beckons nostalgia for sure! If you're just needing personal respite or wanting to bring people together, you'll feel the sense of welcome. The house was designed as a Summer Hide-a-Way with throw back's to the roaring 1920's. It's a shingle style cottage, originally intended to be a showcase, and during simpler times, it really was. Back then, 'summer vacation' meant families from all around would pack up their city belongings and head on down to 'the beach'. Year after year the same place was their little piece of heaven, carved out by surf and sea. Here, we're nestled into a little corner of Cape Cod Bay on Manomet Beach and during early morning sunrises, the ocean can look like a blue-green sheet of glass straight across to Wellfleet's Great Island Peninsula. Not a photo I’ve taken has been able to captured it as the heart of the eye sees it.
Now, showing the wear of a nearing 100 year old cottage, it continues to call families back to create their own fond memories. The escape to sea-filled air, does not grow old! Treasuring the time we share to be with friends and family seem ever sweeter now a-days and the beach still works Her magic as She always has.
Back when Summer vacations started on Memorial Day Weekend and went straight through to Labor Day, summer gardens would go in all over the neighborhood. ....and here, they still do! In fact this year we’ve planted 18 fruit trees and many berry bushes!!!! Think, Cook-outs, clam bakes, lobster bakes, campfires, fishing poles, whale & seal sightings, sharing good books, singing, laughing, playing music, paddle boards, kayaks & bike rides still keep the spark of summer around here.
Now adult's, the once children who've grown up here, raise their grandchildren in the very same cottages their grandparents owned and can't imagine spending summers anywhere else! Neighbors are family and respect and smiles and stopping by the porch for a talk are the norm around here! …and you’re invited to join in ;)
...What might 'You' consider enjoying during your stay here?Plymouth's 'expected' historical offerings of course but how about, summer concerts on Plymouth's waterfront, dining on the warf, ferry ride's to the islands, whale watches or deep sea fishing, kayaking Plymouth Harbor, water taxi to Brown's Bank (tide dependent), clam shacks, farmer's markets, and more....! When was the last time you went to a drive in theater...? Wellfleet still has one! Speaking of Theatre...how about Priscilla Beach Theatre...summer kids put on shows from all the favorites...Alladin, Frozen...Mama Mia...must see ;)
Anyone who's grown up on the ocean knows you don't 'really' need an air conditioner all but a few nights out of the year. However we have 3 window units and the fan's circulate them throughout the house. Having escaped the inland heat, we grew up thrilled to have the cooler temps by the sea....yes, 10-20 degrees cooler by the shore during some of the hottest days of the year! ....and, the reverse is true, we're warmer longer into the Fall & Winter season's as well.
After Labor Day Weekend and late into the Fall Season are some of the best days of year. Just as the birds migrate south anticipating the change of season so do the families around here, …they pack it up too. Things quiet down but temps stay beach worthy.
Even in the middle of Winter! Ultimately, we all find life a little bit sweeter and settle in a little bit easier by a seaside hide-away. Nature nourishes our bodies and souls, where ever She is. Can't beat that! So, we treasure it and are really happy to share it, too! October-April we offer a 7 month Winter Rental…please inquire.
Year after year, and generation after generation, it continues. This home by the sea, still tells a fairy-tale-like story of when it was first built. Happy to welcome new families & old friends every year as they carve out 'their time' and create 'their space' to enjoy it. We still ask that you sweep through the cottage, wash & fold the laundry, pack and tidying up before... heading home, though. The cleaning Ladies come in before/after every rental to do the essential cleanings.
We're just 5 houses back from Idlewild Association stair access (4 flights of stairs w/bench seating between flights approx 150 stairs) to Manomet Beach. Manomet Beach is a private residential beach where you'll cherish long strolls at low tide, floating in the bay, sun & moon rises over Cape Cod, seals, beach combing, finally able to finish that book and find some much deserved R&R in a quiet corner, sand castle competitions, nightly campfires and family & friends beside you.
Just 10 minutes south of downtown Plymouth, local area attractions include America's Hometown Historic Plymouth sights including: Plimoth Patuxet, Mayflower II & Plymouth Rock. There's Deep Sea Fishing, Whale Watching, Harbor & Dinner Cruises, Ferry's, Golfing, Antiques, Shops, Restaurants, Biking, Hiking & More.
We're located 50 min. South of Boston and 15 min. North of the Cape Cod Canal. We're also walking distance to Manomet Center.
Ferry rides to Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket & P-Town make great day trips!
Newport Cliff Walk....with all the Newport Mansions sea side.
Your contributing to the stewardship and legacy of a nearly 100 year old character-filled New England shingle styled cottage. Insuring it's preservation so that many will continue to be able to enjoy it, for generations to come. Additionally, we're looking forward to one day enclosing the stable house to create a studio space in which we can offer yoga classes, weekly meditations, & integrative whole health and life healing workshops.
Just this past year we started making our own soap, bath and body products! We continue to expand our organic garden and in 2017 extended our growing season with the construction of a green house. Thank you for choosing to spend your summer vacation with us on Manomet Beach and supporting Plymouth's Year Round Vacation Retreat House.
Guests wanting a little help deepening their R&R, local massage and Reiki practitioners are available but must be scheduled in advance off site. More information is available upon request.

Wonderful spot, enjoyed the visit, Dawn was most helpful.

Manomet bluffs is a very private beach rental location. The beach cannot be beat. The cottage is vintage & rustic. Some of the windows do not open, but there are numerous fans and a couple of air conditioners. The vintage gas stove is esthetically pleasing, but for preparing larger meals was somewhat challenging. Several windows do not open in the kitchen which makes meal prep time a hot affair. Chopping knives, as well as spoons and cooking utensils were somewhat limited. FYI - the microwave is hidden in a lower cabinet. We worked around it. If you have dogs, the yard is fenced in and works out very well. There is space to spread out and larger rooms for everyone to hang out. Note that the downstairs twin bedroom is right off the living room - So at night low voices required for little ones in there. Note that none of the windows open in that twin bedroom. There is a door in there with a screen, but that is it. Everyone loved and commented how they would miss the outdoor shower. Dawn is very communicative and lives on the property so any questions or issues were addressed in a timely manner. No one was renting the week following us and Dawn kindly offered us extra time or a later check out. There are plenty of beach chairs and towels. Market close by. The location is convenient. Our family enjoyed our stay. The area is nice and quiet compared to other rental areas. Plenty of activities to keep everyone busy and entertained in the area.

We had a great experience staying for our long weekend getaway! Just minutes from the beach and near some great food options. Very spacious and clean, coupled with a gorgeous yard.

The beach at the bottom of our road was lovely - even dreamlike. The paddling was different every day. The house was our secret garden. There were ten of us.

Definitely a house that you don’t have to worry about children messing it up. Had a great yard and shade, beach is great. Inside is like a museum of years past. A mixture of furniture. Needs some better bedding amd naintence but we n general a nice place and location

Wonderful property
Rented for a family vacation and we had a great time. A little unlucky that it was the hottest week of the year and most of the house doesn’t have AC. House was beautiful and property is well maintained. Property was in a great location, close to beach, restaurants and stores.

Perfect location
Three generations enjoyed the location, hospitality and house. Perfect location steps from the ocean. Lots of space and rooms through out the house for getting together or finding quiet spot. I highly recommend this place

Incredible Getaway
We loved this place. A rambling lovely charming old time cottage by the sea! Gardens and land are lovely with patios that make outdoor entertaining easy. The host Dawn is incredibly helpful and lovely to deal with. Overall a perfect experience!

Summertime retreat
All nine of us spilled into this treasure of a home and quickly claimed a memorable experience for a week. The gardens were as lush and whimsical as the house itself. In every corner there was an unexpected something to discover. The home was spacious, clean and well equipped. The hostess, Dawn, helped with any questions and was on hand when needed..... We really loved our stay and were sad to leave.

Fantastic vacation!
I've never rented a vacation home before, so I didn't know what to expect. I felt like this home had everything we needed and we were able to make ourselves at home right away. The beach was a very short walk away and very quiet. Lots of interesting rocks for the kids to collect and skip on the water. Plenty of sandy space to play in as well (Dawn had beach chairs and sand toys available to use). The fenced in yard was perfect for our two little dogs who joined us. The house was very breezy and cool - plenty of fans and shade. The master bedroom even stayed cool on the hottest days.
The house was ready for us to make ourselves right at home, and we did just that - we even bought some crab legs one evening from the Lobster Pot (just down the street) and made a lovely dinner, which we enjoyed on the deck outside overlooking the beautiful yard -- a highlight of the trip.
Dawn was a great host, and I really appreciated her communication prior to our visit as well. We will be back!!

A nice week
We had a great time on this trip. The house met all our needs and comfortably fit our group of 14 from ages 2 to 73. The yard is large, fenced, and a great place for kids to run. Dawn was an excellent host. The beach is very nice and quiet, but as stated in the home description there are three long flights of steep steps down to it. For those that can't make the walk the area has many other beaches very close to the house. The home is very well situated for exploring the Cape and heading to Boston if you want. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

Fantastic place
We had an amazing time. The house is a very well kept, older property with lots of character. The plantings were beautiful, the fence around the entire property was perfect for our little dogs that joined us. I would certainly recommend this place and we intended on renting again next year.

A Healing House
What a beautiful beach experience for our entire family! From the moment we stepped onto the property, we could feel the positive energy. This "home away from home" is welcoming and comforting, and the nature preserve that surrounds it is unparalleled. There are flowers galore and stately trees that have been around even longer than this century-old home, which somehow manages to honor its history while providing every possible modern convenience a vacationing family needs. We were impressed by the raised-bed gardens, the huge wisteria-shaded deck, the berry bushes that invite you to gather a handful of sun-ripened sweetness, and the friendly chickens that manage to help the most frazzled family members unwind. Plus, it's only steps from the beach - a five minute walk, even for a dawdler.
Dawn Clive is a lovely hostess and was friendly and informative from the moment we arrived, yet we had our privacy, as well. The kitchen is well-equipped and it was delightful to cook on the Chambers stove: yes, it is also perfect for baking!
The home is clean and the beds are comfortable - every single person slept like a baby due to the combination of fresh air and cozy surroundings. Have teenagers? The WiFi connection is solid and perfect for streaming video as well as gaming.
This is a stellar property and an exquisite experience - we will definitely be vacationing here again!

Our Happy Place!
We had an excellent time staying at Dawns home in Manomet. We are very familiar with the area and Dawns home gave us a place to gather after the beach and make long lasting memories. The charm of her home takes you back to what life was like before everyone became attached to electronics. We gathered every day after the beach on the deck and then moved to the dining room for dinner and games . I would highly recommend a stay here!

Plymouth Paradise
We had a wonderful time in Plymouth. Eleven of us all together with 2 dogs. The house is a classic! Plenty of room for everyone! The beach is absolutely gorgeous!! Very peaceful and private and so close! We even enjoyed a couple of camp fires right on the beach! The neighborhood is very friendly and great to walk the dogs in. Dawn is a lovely person. Very passionate about the house and it’s history. Everyone loved having the chickens roaming about and giving them treats. The location of the house is perfect! There were short trips to Boston, Falmouth and Martha Vineyards. I would definitely recommend this house and hope to return some day myself!

Very Special Property
We stayed at Dawn's cottage for our summer vacation for a week in late July, and are glad that we did. The place itself is incredibly charming- cute, historic, and nicely decorated, with beautiful grounds and a great deck. Although the rooms are cozy, it's actually quite spacious, and was large enough to not feel crowded with our group of 13 people. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything needed to cook for a large group for a vacation home. We had a lot of humid heat during our stay, and the place did get quite warm, but, other than that, it was perfect. The beach is very close-by. It's accessed by a very long set of stairs, and is beautiful and private. It was never crowded during our stay.
Dawn was a great hostess. In addition to checking in with us to making sure we had everything we needed, loaning us beaters to make a birthday cake, and giving us tips on good fishing spots, she was fun to talk to and had good, positive energy.
If you are a person that appreciates taste and charm in a unique, relaxing setting, I think you would be very happy coming here.

Bedrooms NOT air conditioned!! A/C in dining room ONLY
Dawn is a pleasant, attentive host and her home certainly has charm, but we did not think it was fair to advertise the home as air conditioned when the only air conditioning is a window unit in the dining room. We booked the house because the reviews said it offered a variety of living spaces to accommodate a large group, but the July heat forced all 14 of us to spend all our house time crammed around the dining room table. We were also disappointed because we planned to save some money by cooking at the house, but again the lack of A/C in the kitchen and the small oven size of the antique stove prevented that. If you are staying at this home in another season, you may be quite pleased by the nostalgic feel and beautiful backyard, but if air conditioning is the first amenity you search for, like us, this may not be the place for you.

It is a pleasant house with steep but close access to the beach
Dawn is friendly and welcoming. The house has lots of different spaces for people and a lovely garden. We found it comfortable for 12--not sure we could have fit 16. This house may not appropriate for people with mobility issues because of the 132 beach stairs and the awkward stairs without railing to enter the house.

A perfect property for our longer wintertime stay!
My husband and I stayed in this wonderful old home for five unforgettable months (November through March). We did have visitors but most of the time, it was just the two of us. Though the house was more than we needed (we didn’t use the upstairs at all) we felt so comfortable and cozy here all winter long. Also, the kitchen was well equipped and we adored the antique Chambers stove top and oven that worked like a gem!
This property was a welcoming and beautiful sanctuary for us. It sits on an acre of fenced land with many trees, a garden and lawn. Dawn is a wonderful host (and new friend!) who lives on the property. She was there and responded quickly when/if we needed her but otherwise it felt very private which we loved. We brought our two dogs along and they loved it too! Only a block from the beach, we walked our dogs nearly everyday. Manomet beach is beautiful and quiet in the winter so they were off leash most of the time. There is also an enjoyable walk around nearby Rabbit Pond and the very best fish and chips at Woods Seafood at Plymouth Harbor, a short drive away! We’ll surely miss this little slice of heaven and hope to be back someday.

Perfect in every way!
We spent 8 days at this wonderful house in July 2016. We had various family visit throughout. We had kids, young adults, senior citizens and a dog. Everyone fit so comfortably in this fabulous property. In addition to the charm you see in the pictures--which is even more so in person--and all the sleeping spaces...the house also offers ample separate areas for when you have different groups doing different things. The living room is cool and quiet and dreamy. The sunroom is bright and sunny. The deck is a perfect place to sit and chat. So even 15 people can be here and not feel at all crowded.
We cooked, we barbecued...we went to beautiful Plymouth waterfront about 5 miles away...we toured Plymouth Plantation and went to a nearby state park for a hike. Fabulous. But we also walked a few steps 'down the block' and enjoyed the wonderful beach. It's gorgeous, not crowded and utterly enjoyable from early AM to evening.
Dawn is a splendid host. The house offers everything and she takes wonderful care to make your visit all that you might hope for.

Wonderful big family gathering spot - we loved it!
My family of 11 (plus 2 more for a dinner) gathered at this wonderful summer cottage for a June graduation. There was tons of room for everyone to have a bed, plenty of bathrooms, and all the amenities you could ask for (towels, sheet supplied, kitchen fully stocked with everything you could possibly need to cook for a crowd, a big gas grill, and lots of cozy, comfortable spaces to gather and visit. In a really terrific area - just a few houses down the street to the beach and a lovely area to walk around on a summer's afternoon. Dawn could not have been more gracious and welcoming, as well as available to answer any and all questions. We brought our dog - which was encouraged and welcomed - she was so happy to roam around the big, fenced-in yard. The house is charming with wonderful details - don't expect brand new perfection, but if you love the feel of an old summer cottage that is warm and welcoming, you will love this. Also, nice that you don't have to deal with the Sagamore Bridge traffic to get onto the Cape.
Would definitely return to this house for a big group gathering again.

Perfect home for the holiday...
I was referred to Dawn (owner) for a potential booking during the recent holiday season. From the start, Dawn was responsive and addressed all questions I had and made the booking process seamless. Dawn's home welcomed my entire family (humans and dogs) and provided a warm and welcoming feel for our visit to Plymouth. The property has a large yard which was great for the dogs. The property is also located close to the beach which is also pet friendly and is in walking distance to a neighborhood pizza shop, and grocery store. I would highly recommend Dawn and her amazing home for anyone looking to visit the Plymouth area!

Great vacation, great house, great host!
The house is a hidden gem at Plymouth. Beautiful of everything: house decor, yard, etc.. Whatever you can see on the picture, it is truly same when you get there. We were a party of 11 people with a dog, it was perfect size for us. The location is great, walking distance from a quiet beach, driving distance from grocery and supermarket. And the host! Dawn is just nice and welcoming, same as Kaiser (Dawn's Norwegian Elkhound )! Definitely want to go back again...
