Autumn House is located at the crest of Shoreby Hill which rises above the scenic harbor facing Newport. Harbor beach, marina, restaurants and shopping within walking distance.
Beautiful Mackerel Cove beach, one mile from the house, is perfect for swimming.
The property offers 4,934 square feet of living space, with five bedrooms, three fireplaces, central air, in-ground pool, sauna, internet, a sixty foot front porch, dining terraces, spacious rooms, a unique pub room, office space, two car garage and beautifully landscaped grounds.
There are both formal and informal dining rooms, a chefs kitchen with Wolfe six burner stove, oven and Italian tile counter tops.
The first level includes the pub, formal dining room, center hall/library with wood burning fireplace, living room with fireplace, kitchen, butler pantry, small tv room/den with fireplace, and informal dining/breakfast room, powder room with shower.
The second floor is comprised of five spacious bedrooms to include three queen bedded rooms and two twin bedded rooms which can be converted to king size beds.
There are two additional rollaway or air beds if needed. Jamestown ordinance limits the number of persons 12 years and older to ten so any additional guests must be under 12 years old. Enjoy historic Newport which is a short ten minute drive or ride the seasonal ferry over to Newport across Narragansett Bay.

We had a fabulous family week in Jamestown in this beautiful historic home! Howard and Susan greeted us when we arrived to answer any questions. The home was conveniently located making it easy to walk to the village, the playground and the harbor. Short drive away from Mackerel Cove Beach and the Beavertail Lighthouse. The kitchen was well stocked to cook family dinners and the outdoor BBQ and pool were amazing! There was plenty of space for the family to spread out for quiet time when needed and a wonderful gathering area for all. It was truly a privilege to stay in this beautiful home!! Thank you!

This property is fantastic! The actual property is more impressive in person. It was very conveniently located in Jamestown. Short walk to all the restaurants and beach. Great BBQ, huge pool and fully stocked kitchen was a huge plus. For 12 people there was even space for everyone to have quiet time when needed. Howard and Susan do a great job renting out their house and were always available to answer any questions. We will be back!

We had a blast. The house was perfect for our large family and Susan and Howard were super responsive and extremely friendly hosts. A short walk to the shops, a playground, and great food. Less than a five minute drive to a great little beach. Super close to Newport. Overall, very convenient, was a fantastic stay!

Shoreby Hill provided a tranquil retreat for my family. 10 of us stayed a week and enjoyed staying on the property or walking into town. The property had everything we needed and Susan & Howard were gracious and responsive hosts. I couldn’t recommend the property enough. Plenty of beautiful inside and outside space with an amazing pool and a perfect location. We hope to return.

Our extended family and dog had a relaxing and fun week together at Shoreby Hill. The house is large and very comfortable with a great front porch, heated pool, grill, and numerous places to sit both indoors and outdoors. The property is located in a very nice quiet neighborhood that is within walking distance of the town. The closest beach is readily accessible by bicycle or a short car ride. Newport is just over the bridge about 15 minutes away. We really enjoyed our time at Shoreby Hill and hope to return in the future. Thanks to Howard and Susan, who were great hosts!

This was our 7th family vacation in New England and our first time to the magical island of Jamestown. Susan and Howard so graciously opened their home to our family and we loved all the space the 5000 sq ft provided. Plenty of room to find a quiet spot to read or gather as a group. We loved the front porch, especially the swing, the beds were all cozy with quality linens and plenty of towels, a heated pool, and best of all, an easy walk to town for dinner, ice cream after dinner, or a stroll around the harbor. The beach is just a bike ride away, which are provided, and Newport is under ten minutes and fun for more excursions and beaches, and lots of beach chairs also provided. We took boats out of both Newport and Portsmouth and loved the waterways, lighthouses, and landscapes. We especially enjoyed Tallulahs Taqueria for super fresh Mexican, the Sugar Shack for ice cream, Zeke's Creek for fresh seafood, 1 Ferry Wharf for lunch, the Monday afternoon farmers market for bread and croissants and gazpacho soup, and J22 for a creative and delicious dinner. We had a magical vacation and loved it all!

This was our 2nd year vacationing at this beautiful family house!
This home is so comfortable for my family of 8 adults and 4 grandchildren. Plenty of space to get away from and spend time with each other. The heated pool is a plus -we all enjoyed it throughout the week. There are 2 beaches very easy to get to. Restaurants in Jamestown and Newport are wonderful! I would love to rent it again for next summer however we have a family wedding to plan! In essence, if you have a large family I highly recommend this vacation home - plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms- second year in a row and my family enjoyed it even more than last year!!

Jamestown Rental House
Very nice (and large) front porch and pub for socializing, and a nice pool area in the backyard. A bit dated, but clean and nice overall, and a short walk into the village. The owners are responsive and helpful with any questions. We love Jamestown and have close friends in the village. It's a wonderful place to vacation, and you can pop into Newport on the ferry without any trouble at all. Highly recommended.

Beautiful Girl’s Weekend
Had a wonderful weekend with girlfriends at this amazing property. The house was very comfortable and spacious, quiet and centrally located in a beautiful neighborhood. Quick walk or drive to town. The front porch is a dream. The lovely homeowners were there to greet us and made sure we knew all the ins and outs of their home prior to our stay.

We had a delightful four days at this elegant, comfortable, and welcoming home. The owners are most hospitable and see to every comfort. This house is wonderfully situated and features abundant, lovely indoor and outdoor spaces. It feels like home away from home. Great kitchen! Excellent features for the plugged and unplugged. The town is charming and walkable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend this home wholeheartedly.

Wonderful experience
The pictures on the website seemed too good to be true. The property definitely looked like that. No exaggeration at all. It was gorgeous and spacious. We all had comfy beds with perfect temperature control with central air. The house was kid and dog friendly. The owners welcomed us and showed us around and explained how to use everything. They were gracious and happy to share their lovely home with us.

We loved this home!!!
We were 6 couples who spent Labor Day weekend in this lovely home. It is a beautiful, historic gem in a quaint neighborhood in Jamestown. While we certainly enjoyed what Newport has to offer, it was nice having a nearby, quiet and relaxing refuge to return to. This wonderful home has so many places to gather to enjoy each other’s company- the spacious front porch (our favorite: where we did yoga in the morning), the pub, the pool area, the inviting living room, not to mention, the fully equipped kitchen. It was also fun discovering the hidden treasures in Jamestown like the Oyster Shack, relaxing on the beach, and strolling along the marina and the town.
Howard and Susan were tremendous hosts. They were there to welcome us when we arrived and showed us around. They gave us many helpful tips, were very accommodating and were super communicators.

A piece of heaven!
This property is gorgeous! Quiet and peaceful with a beautiful inground pool and huge front porch with comfortable lounge chairs to read a book. The ocean is a short walk down the hill where you can ride the ferry or rent a kayak. We loved spending time at the property. Too pretty to leave!

If you're looking to make your stay feel like home, Shoreby Hill nails it. We count ourselves extremely lucky to have such a great home in which to stay, and couldn't have asked for better hosts, who made us feel at ease and were extremely attentive. They truly made us feel like family, and that's why it felt like home.

A Wonderful Family Vacation!
We had a total of 8 adults and 4 children at this lovely Shoreby Hill Standish home. Throughout the week everyone was very comfortable -plenty of rooms to escape if you needed to -and the gathering rooms were spacious for my entire family to enjoy our time together. My four grandchildren were ecstatic the entire time spending hours in the heated in-ground pool and just hanging out playing games and being silly!!
The adults couldn’t help but feel relaxed in this spacious home. It had plenty of space for all of us to be together in any of the rooms. We also went to two different beautiful beaches only 20 minutes away- easy commute. The owners are wonderful people and so accommodating. They made you feel right at home. I can go on and on but in essence this home was ideal for my family of twelve! I have already booked it for July 2022!

We spent Memorial Day weekend at the property and it was amazing. We had multiple generations and, even though the weather was awful, there was something to do for everyone - the pub in the house is as fun as it gets. It even has a craps table!! The pool is great (we had a nice day where we could use it). Walking to downtown and the ferry to Newport so lots of options. Highly recommend

A Memorable Experience in a 1911 Historic Family Friendly, Spacious and Extremely Comfortable Home
The owners were available and responded to every communication within minutes. My family traveled by air from Reno, NV, Lexington, KY; Raleigh, NC and myself from Abilene, TX. We arrived at the house 1 ½ hours before check-in and were greeted with a friendly smile, left the 2- 17-year-olds there to hang out by the pool while my daughter and I made a trip to the grocery store--- Susan was very accommodating. My three children in addition to their two spouses, two granddaughters, two grandsons with 2 friends all had beds. The house was quiet – a surprise considering the number of guests. The house & amenities were very good based on my experience and included: generous amount of appliances/equipment (i.e. 3 washing machines and 3 dryers & 2 refrigerators), comfortable furnishings, beds & outdoor equipment (an old-fashioned tree swing was a huge hit with my 5-year-old granddaughter, a gas grill, Bicycles, pool toys...) and premium bedding and plumped-up pillows. The attention to detail and items that added comfort were appreciated: a crib for my six-month-old granddaughter, a generous supply of high-end fresh fluffy towels for bathing in addition to a huge supply of pool / beach towels; multiple dedicated spaces inside and outside available to gather to eat or socialize as a large group or smaller groups of guests. The children as well as the adults loved the private heated pool. However, we spent a lot of time on the front porch. Other than cartoon time for the 5-year-old and the USA Women’s Soccer Team participation in the World Cup, I don’t think anyone watched TV.

Perfect home for Jamestown wedding weekend
We had a wonderful time staying at Autumn house. Howard and Susan were extremely easy to work with from the initial booking of their home for the weekend to giving us a guided tour upon our arrival. There were 11 of us that were very comfortable for our long weekend stay. We enjoyed the pool with outdoor stereo speakers and the built in grill area for our cooking all weekend.
The pub was one of our favorite areas to gather and there was plenty of room along with the connecting dining room and large living room. We highly recommend a visit to this beautiful home!

6 STARS! Fabulous house, perfect for a large group or family!
We loved this home on Shoreby Hill, so full of charm, history and family feel. It’s an estate really, with huge rooms everywhere, great outdoor space, beautiful pool, and The Pub, where everyone seemed to congregate in the late evenings. But perhaps the best part was our gracious hosts, Susan and Howard, who were so helpful and welcoming, before and during our stay. We hope to return someday for another stay!

Perfect Home for a Large Family Gathering
Truly wonderful front porch; family gathered there all throughout our weekend stay. We hosted an extended family brunch the morning after the wedding and found the kitchen stocked with all culinary tools and serving pieces we needed. Since we traveled a distance, having all linens provided made the stay very easy. Staying in Jamestown was very relaxing; we could take advantage of all that Newport has to offer but get away from the traffic/noise. Hosts were helpful and gracious. High marks all around.

Perfect large family get away
We had the pleasure of renting Autumn house for a large family vacation. In total we had 16 different friends and family members stay with us throughout the week (not all at the same time) and this house was the perfect setting. We were very attracted to the house especially with the heated pool as we have small children and thought full day beach excursions would be tough.. it was perfect! The house provided ample and comfortable sleeping options, the kitchen and grill area have all the amenities for entertaining and cooking, and we enjoyed the large living spaces and bar area for family game nights! I've stayed many times in Newport but not Jamestown and we loved walking around town daily, dining out, going to the shops (especially the fish and cheese markets) and seeing the lighthouse! We made the quick drive to Newport several times as well!
Howard and Susan were lovely hosts, who made us feel so comfortable in their home. They offered toys to our young son, and conversation to our parents. They were prompt, responsive and very generous with their time and communication.
We hope to come back next year and enjoy more time snuggled up on the porch!! #priceless
