Mostly a plus for a great vacation
Mostly a plus for a great vacation
We were six, 3 couples for a week. Great space, did not even use the loft area at all. Could easily fit 8 comfortably with plenty of room for all. Beautiful views, great fireplace and hot tub. Especially nice to have the garage, as we did end up using the car a few times for grocery shopping. The master suite is awesome. The other two bedrooms were a decent size, not enough drawer space but my husband prefers to live out of his suitcase (or the floor) so it worked. There was a good supply of spices, and we were able to find just about all the kitchen utensils we needed. Natural Retreats management were very responsive and helpful. Negatives: The major negative is that VRBO says the house is "ski in/ski out." That is not true. Other sites I saw later said "ski accessible" which is accurate. You not only have to walk up the back steps, but you have to walk down the street and then climb up a hill to get to the trail. The directions given for accessing the trail were actually more challenging than the way we found; our way we could ski down the hill and even up the road to the house. For little kids or some others it might be a challenge. Should also be aware that if you need to get to Village Center it can take half an hour; long trail down to Six Shooter lift then over from there. Madison base lodge is pretty close, and can get tickets there. The mattresses were a bit soft/worn. The dishwasher was loose in the cabinet, kept tipping out, the racks misaligned... the last day was when we were unable to close it, so hopefully that will be fixed. It took a long time for the house to heat up; the thermostat was set at 68, and it was 60 when we woke up. When we returned at lunch it would be around 64. They were very responsive about coming to check the heating, said everything was working fine.
