Super clean and well appointed
This was a great experience. We didn't realize it was over the garage and the owners were in the cottage behind it. They were gracious and respected our privacy, but I have to admit, I was looking for something a little more private. We were unable to get to down to the water as there was a recent rain and the path was flooded, and the deck railing blocked the view when seated on the deck. We didn't spend much time there as we were out and about taking advantage of the area's offerings, but the cottage is very clean and has everything you need. We saw deer every morning on the property as well as a porcupine, eagles and osprey.

Winkle Cottage is the quietest place we've ever stayed! The peace and serenity we enjoyed there were enhanced by the friendliness of our hosts who were very welcoming and made us feel right at home. (The chocolate chip cookies didn't hurt!) The cottage was immaculate but warm and cozy with one of the most comfortable beds this side of The Ritz! The décor was most appropriate for a coastal Maine cottage without being overdone. We had everything we needed for a completely relaxing and stress-free vacation. We'll be back.

Delightful cottage in peaceful setting
We loved our time spent at Winkle Cottage, and Bob and Trisha are fantastic hosts. We had plenty of privacy and space, yet they were available to answer questions and make us feel welcome. The cottage itself is spacious, bright, and has all the comforts of home- comfy bed, sofas to nap on, and a well-stocked kitchen... We loved relaxing out on the deck in the morning, and at the end of a day hiking in the area. We hope to return soon!!

Amazing
Quiet and then some. What a great place to relax.
Patricia was there to greet us and let us know that she was available if we needed anything. The place is spotlessly clean and the view is great. Far enough away from things to be peaceful but within driving distance of good places to eat and things to do and see. The only thing we did not like about this place was leaving.
A true hidden gem.
If you need a place to unwind this is for you.

Winkle Cottage is just as advertised and pictured. We enjoyed a great week staying there. Tricia and Bob were welcoming hosts. They knew we would be arriving after dark and had the lights on for us. The next morning we woke up with no hot water. Bob was there in just a few minutes to remedy the problem. The electric had flickered the day before and tripped the breaker. Apologetic and assured us he was nearby for just such problems.
The cottage is very comfy and clean. The kitchen had all we needed, especially lobster crackers! Coffee on the deck in the morning is what vacation is all about!!! The bathroom was very spacious, much bigger than most. Several windows and ceiling fans allow the air to circulate nicely throughout the cottage.
We went whale watching one day and fishing another, both with Eastport Windjammers. Such nice owners and lots of fun! Hiking at Quoddy State Park was our favorite, such beautiful views. Campobello Island was fun. We toured FDR’s summer cottage and hiked out to the lighthouse. You can only go at low tide, and we got to watch a minke whale and also a baby seal sunning himself on the rocks. Reversing falls is so peaceful, and we hiked there and watched seals and an eagle soar around. We cooked lobster twice from Quoddy Bay Lobster. We spent our last day at Acadia. Cadillac Mountain is breathtaking!!!
Maine is a beautiful place to visit, and we enjoyed our stay at Winkle Cottage. Thank you Tricia and Bob and hope to visit again some day!

Exactly what we hoped for!
The cottage was delightfully decorated, impeccable and designed for convenient comfort. The location was perfectly private, restful and restoring. Bob and Tricia were friendly, attentive and helpful but left us to ourselves unless we sought help. The area is unspoiled and near to Eastport, Lubec, and dozens of indoor and outdoor activities, none of which are excessively commercial. The people in this area are friendly and...real. We loved our stay and Winkle Cottage was a perfect home base for our excursions. We had no negative experience here at all!

Ten days of bliss!
When we made our reservation for Winkle Cottage, we knew that we could not arrive until three days into the week (check-in is on Saturday), but decided to take a chance that the experience, on balance, would be worth the loss of those nights. Well, we were right! The Cottage is pristine clean, and has a lovely view of the bay. Photos on the web site are completely true-to-form. Our hosts were warm, and informative. There's even a basket of detailed information for exploring this beautiful area. Given the opportunity, we'd definitely stay here again.

Fantasic location
This vacation was for our honeymoon and it was everything you could ask for. Beautiful location over looking the water. Very affordable for just two people. Driving to other towns was only a few minutes away.

Beautiful cottage on Cobscook Bay
A very clean and well appointed cottage with beautiful views. The Winkle cottage is a delightful place to relax and enjoy the cool weather and great seafood of "down East Maine". In a day of sightseeing you can easily visit such places as Acadia National Park one of America's gems. We especially appreciated the quick responses we received from Trisha when we called with questions while planning our trip. All and all a great week in a great cottage with great hosts!!

The cottage was wonderful!
The cottage is clean, well kept, has great living space and beautiful views! It is very peacefu land off the beaten path, but nearby restaurants and activities. It was a great home base for our vacation. Trisha and Bob are delightful hosts, they offered up ideas of where to go and what to do and were so nice and helpful. We will definitely stay there during our next visit to the area.

Beautiful and Quiet Cottage Vacation
If you are looking for a quiet getaway in Maine, this is the perfect spot. The cottage sits up on a second story with lovely views of the bay. It is one of the cleanest places I've ever stayed and was tastefully decorated. It exceed our expectations. The photos are good representations of the cottage, but it is even nicer in person. The Fradettes were great hosts, too!
The location is perfect for day trips to Lubec and Quoddy Head as well as New Brunswick attractions like Campobello Island and St. Andrews-by-the-sea. My husband and I were excited to discover in nearby Easport the Tides Institute and Museum of Art which hosts art installations and an artist residency program. Also close by are the reversing falls in Pembroke--not to be missed! We also squeezed in a trip to one of our favorite Maine spots for lobster and pie, Helen's Restaurant in Machias.
If you are looking for a clean, beautiful, quiet spot where you can read and relax, go on day trips in Maine and New Brunswick, or take beautiful hikes, this is the perfect spot. I highly recommend Winkle Cottage!

Wonderful vacation rental with a great view
We spent a fun and relaxing week at Winkle cottage. It was spotless and very well appointed. Patricia and Bob are wonderful hosts.
We particularly enjoyed the soft shell lobsters at Eastport Chowder House. What a treat! We visited Campobello and "Tea with Eleanor" was a highlight.

Relaxing cottage with lovely views
My boyfriend Tim and I couldn't have been more pleased as we walked into Winkle 2....it was beautiful with magnificent views, clean as a whistle and very well equipped! A lot the time we relaxed on the deck reading and building puzzles! When we ventured into Eastport we ate at the Eastport chowder House which was excellent or at the Quoddy Bay Lobster Co. where we enjoyed a delicious meal outside over looking the Bay. We drove to Campobello Island and also many surrounding towns which were just beautiful perfect
Down East towns. We enjoyed a campfire with our wonderful hosts Bob and Tricia and learned a lot about Eastport as we enjoyed some really good pumpkin brownies baked by Tricia. I would recommend Winkle 2 to any of my friends or family...our vacation could not have been better!

Winkle Cottage .. the nicest vacation in 20 years!
What a perfect place to go and stay for a vacation! A charming cottage that is beautifully decorated and maintained, and that has everything you could need to make yourself at home, from pots large enough to cook lobsters, to its layout and amenities. We chose the cottage for its location and proximity to the ocean. Traveling the area is easy on Rt 1 and other key towns are 10-25 minutes away. We took a number of side trips to Eastport to get fresh lobsters and great lunches. I took a 3-hour Fundy Breeze Fishing Charter and caught my limit within the first hour and my freezer is full. We had the rest of the time to tour the bay and saw schools of porpoise, a whale and two Bald Eagles. Bought 6 Lobsters at Quoddy Bay in Eastport that made some great dinners and outstanding quiche. The Fradettes are great! I spoke with Pat a number of times before coming for the week for tips and information and she was so thoughtful to call while there to make sure we were well. Not sure what more I could have asked for or expected. So was the stay at Winkle worth it? Absolutely ... we are already making plans to go back next year.

You will love it!
This cottage is just as advertised. It is very comfy, quiet, and well-appointed--the owners have thought of everything. It is not too far from all the area sites, but feels far away from it all. You will love sitting on the deck and listening to the birds, smelling the clean, wildflower-scented air. So relaxing. The owners are kind and thoughtful and will give you privacy while being available for advice on area events and activities. You will not be disappointed!

The Best!
Due to terrible procrastination, am just writing review of last summer's stay as I prepare to book the cottage for this fall. The cottage is just as depicted on the website, but pictures cannot capture the the feeling of serenity here. The view is lovely, the cottage (and the country/sea air) is fresh and clean, and the bed is very, very, comfortable. After a refreshing night's sleep, we awoke to a view of mist rising above water. Tricia is a warm and wonderful host; delicious homemade cookies awaited us upon arrival and she provided lots of useful suggestions, both in person and through written information. If you enjoy the outdoors, there are many and diverse activities - Reversing Falls is not to be missed. Eastport restaurants offer very good food and friendly service,as well as waterfront location; Quoddy Bay Lobster has the best lobster rolls in Maine and a fresh fish counter, so you can cook at home. ( The efficient cottage kitchen is equipped with everything you need. Highly recommended.
