Enjoy the Litchfield Hills from this newly renovated one bedroom apartment with private entrance. Amenities include full kitchen, living room, bedroom with queen bed, and full en suite bathroom. WiFi and cable TV included. All located less than 2 miles from historic Litchfield Center. Our property borders on the White Memorial Foundation nature preserve, with over 40 miles of hiking trails. Mohawk Mountain Ski area in Cornwall and Ski Sundown in New Hartford are only a short drive away.

Located in the town of Litchfield, the Hideway offers a comfortable place from which you can explore all that Litchfield County has to offer. Here you will find great restaurants, vineyards, shopping, antiques and galleries, all in the beautiful town of Litchfield. The surrounding countryside offers the outdoor enthusiast access to local lakes, rivers, trails and ski areas. Steeped in Colonial history, Litchfield's historic attractions include the picturesque Village Green, First Congregational Church, Tapping Reeve Law School (first in the United States and attended by Aaron Burr and John C. Calhoun), and the home of Oliver Wolcott, signer of the Declaration of Independence. Located close to area private schools and event venues, this is the perfect place to stay when visiting town for weddings and school events.

The Hideaway had everything I needed for my stay to include a pizza place in front where I was able to get some much needed food after a long road race. Easy check in and great communication with the owners. Highly recommend!

This property is wonderful and has friendly and helpful owners. Very quiet and peaceful and tucked in the trees. It is very spacious, clean, and had everything we needed. Loads of hiking and outdoor opportunities just minutes away, as well as wineries and restaurants. The pizza at the attached shop was good as well—a nice bonus!

I was in town for the weekend to attend a college friend’s daughter’ wedding. The Hideaway was convenient to all of the wedding venues in town. Clean, spacious and comfy. I was delighted to discover that I was right next door to the White Memorial Forest with hiking and biking trails. Would love to go back for a longer stay. Rick was a fantastic host.

Great property. Clean, comfortable, welcoming and well set up with everything you might need. Very accessible to surrounding areas and sights while feeling like your in a little cottage in the woods. Don’t be put off that it’s behind a little plaza. You won’t really notice and being easily able to get a pizza or pastry is bonus that you otherwise wouldn’t have considered!

"The Hideaway" could not have a more perfect name. It is charmingly hidden away behind a strip of stores and you won't be disappointed. It's nicely appointed, clean, cozy screened in porch, comfortable bed, beautiful bathroom! The hosts, Rick and Jean were great and made themselves available should I need anything. I would definitely go back again. Lovely place!!

This place is just as pictured. Beautiful, clean, modern updates. When you first read about the location behind a pizza place it seems odd, but trust me, it is wonderful. As soon as you walk behind the pizza place, you are in an oasis. Beautiful large rhododendron shrub and other greenery surround the entrance. It was cold when we stayed but if it was warm we would have enjoyed the screened porch. It was really nice. Very quiet. I'm so happy to have stayed here instead of a hotel room. We were in town for business and it was perfect.

The unit is very well-appointed and comfortable, and Rick is a gracious host. The setting is a bit unusual, with the unit being between the back of a row of shops and the hosts' house, but that actually works out quite well, providing nice privacy, and the shop building shelters the unit from the road noise. The unit is also only a block from the White Conservation area, so you can get nice walks in without ever moving your car.

Rick and Jean offer a lovely, well equipped little apartment. The shower is particularly fabulous. The check in and out were seamless and simple. We would have liked the place to be a bit airier and bright, but that is made up for by a stellar climate control system that keeps everything extremely comfortable. The location offered easy car access to any shopping or dining desired. Highly recommended.

This was the nicest vacation rental we've experienced. It was immaculate and comfortable. Some rentals give the impression they were furnished with yard sale leftovers but this felt like it was decorated by a designer. The foliage outside was charming. We wished we could have stayed longer.

Very well appointed, awesome shower (no tub, but that's how we're set up at home too). Leafy view out the windows, nice enclosed porch. Very well-kept & clean, comfortable bed & furniture, quite quiet. It is indeed a "hideaway."

The apartment was super — cozy and comfortable with absolutely everything needed. Rick and Jean are extremely friendly and helpful without being at all intrusive. The apartment connects to a house but is very very private, looks out on trees. There is an Italian restaurant (more than pizza), a hair salon and a gourmet food shop right by Grocery stores in both directions under 2 miles. About .75 miles to the nature conservancy (walkable) and then some great trails. (Or drive and then hike). We stayed a month and were very pleased, felt at home. We think this was the best of the homes we stayed in so far on our five month “expedition.”

Rick was very helpful with communication. The unit itself was amazing. Anything you could need, the house was stocked with. It was spotless when we arrived, and very homey. They did a great job making it homey. If in the Litchfield area, I will definitely book again.
