Set on a beautiful seven acres of wooded hillside, Homestead Hideaway offers you a unique opportunity to rest and relax within a peaceful setting. Located just 15 Miles from Galena, Illinois, our cabins in the woods can be your home away from home while you enjoy Galena, Chestnut Mountain, hiking, wineries, and all the other amenities Jo Daviess County has to offer.
When you stay at Homestead Hideaway, you can simply relax in our cozy rustic cabins, or get out and enjoy everything the area has to offer. At Homestead Hideaway you can expect a tranquil feel and a stress free retreat. The cabins are located in a beautiful rural area where it is perfect to have a cup of coffee or tea in the mornings and enjoy the wildlife. Let our cabins be a rare chance to unplug from the world and help ensure you have a relaxed and secluded stay. We are not able to provide Internet or cable TV due to the location of the cabins. However, do not let that steer you away from the beautiful setting. There are numerous locations in Galena as well as E-Town Coffee in Elizabeth, IL with Internet access.
We have two historic cottages located on the property and three separate rentals. The cabins are located on opposite ends of the property. You can enjoy the seven acres of wooded area by hiking or taking your dog for a walk. Whether you are planning a romantic trip to Galena, a golfing trip, a couple’s getaway, a wine lovers weekend, or skiing at Chestnut Mountain during the winter months, Homestead Hideaway will accommodate to your needs.
We have been renting the cabins for about 2 years now. We have decided to go beyond the brochure advertising and word of mouth and work with VRBO for our rentals. Do not hesitate to ask any questions.
This rental is for the Brimeyer cabin. It has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. One bedroom is located on the top level with a King bed. The second bedroom is on the bottom level with a queen bed. The main level has a kitchen and a living/dining area. There is also a sofa sleeper in the living/dining area.
The other cabin on the property also has two rentals on this website. The top two levels of the other cabin is the Seven Sisters Suite vrbo # 623038. The lower level/unit of the cabin is our Gleneagle Suite which is also listed on VRBO #624157
We now have a landline at the cabin. It is for local and emergency(911) calling only. If you wish to call long distance you will need to bring a calling card. However, long distance inbound calling is free.
Starting Mid August 2022 We will have passes available for ACL Nixon beach (15 minute drive) and ACL pool. You must speak to host prior to arrival for information. You must have tags and parking passes for these amenities and there is a fee from security deposit IF LOST TAGS

A perfect setting for some down time! The cabin is remote, yet just a short drive to downton Elizabeth, Galena, and Apple River Canyon. Very clean and the bed was super comfy! Our dog enjoyed listening to the cows at night while hanging out by the fire. Very scenic property with a few short trails to take the dog on. Absolutely loved staying here and plan to return!

We had an amazing time at the cabin!! We had family visit from Kansas for my Husband’s birthday, our dog Eisenhower came with and I gifted a 1.5 year old female basset hound while at the cabin we call Eloise!
We love the secluded, quiet, and spaciousness of the property! Our 2nd time at the cabin did not disappoint! We look forward to booking this property again!

We love this cabin and this was our 2nd time staying here. We used the pool passes this time and our kids loved the pool. The smoker in a backyard was perfect to make ribs.

If you’re looking for a quiet and secluded time away from the hustles of life, this is the place to do it. We enjoyed a long weekend at this cabin and could not have been more impressed! The location is somewhat secluded, so it’s very peaceful as the cabin sits Backed up in the woods. You have everything you need for cooking and cleaning up, both of the beds were very comfortable, it’s a three-story property so there are stairs to maneuver. They do have an outdoor grill and Outdoor fire pit along with a table and chairs to eat outdoors if you’d like. The cabin is clean, modern amenities, and the grounds are well kept. Enjoy the time without your cell phone as coverage is very spotty, but we wanted it that way so we could unplug.

This is the place to go if you want to get away from it all and disconnect for a bit. There's no internet, no TV stations, and the setting is so peaceful and serene. It's fairly close though to shopping in Galena and restaurants, but the nightlife is just stars and quiet. Comfortable, clean and peaceful.

This property is as advertised, secluded, quiet, & peaceful. There is one other cabin on the property that is also rented, but it is at the front of the gravel drive, and this is the back, so no noisy neighbors, as you find yourself in the middle of the country with corn fields and cows around. We felt like this was a great location to take advantage of Galena without being in the hustle and bustle of it all. We also enjoyed hiking at Apple River Canyon State Park, kayaking at Apple Canyon Lake (which the property has parking and beach passes for you to use as it is private). We enjoyed visiting the town of Elizabeth as well and visiting the massive antiques store there. All of these were within a 30 minute drive (or less).
The property was clean, well furnished, and had everything that we needed.
Stargazing at night and quiet campfires were so wonderful to enjoy.
We had an awkward situation with the other group staying there, but was really not the fault of the property owner, and she helped us resolve the situation.

We desperately needed a break in our busy summer schedule to reconnect and just chill. Galena is always a favorite of ours and we typically do the B&B thing. This time we decided to search for something a little more secluded and off the usual path. We absolutely loved the location of this delightful, charming cabin. The interior was very clean with plenty of furnishings. We appreciated that the accommodations were pet friendly, Lucy approved as well! :) We very much enjoyed the back deck to unwind each evening with a couple of cocktails. The sounds of birds chirping was so lovely. We also enjoyed the scenic drive to and from town, we felt we had the best of both worlds! The location was wonderfully quiet with no passing traffic. We highly recommend booking here and will definitely return!

We loved the Brimeyer cabin! It was peaceful and secluded, but close enough to plenty of activities and places to visit. Our normally anxious dog was happy and content walking around the grounds. We really enjoyed reading and drinking coffee on the porch! We would love to book the cabin again in the future.

This was just the place we need to escape to. Our sons loved it. The owner was very helpful and sent an HVAC repairman to fix an issue with the AC on a holiday. We will definitely be booking again.

The cabin was so great. We were extremely happy with our stay. It eas ckean and well maintained. There was a coupke snacks left for us (popcorn and chocolates). My husband, our 2 dogs and myself found our stay very relaxing. The dogs loved walking on the property and we were close enough to Galena's main street to go there for a couple hours one afternoon. Highly recommend this cabin. Enough privacy, but still close to enough to drive where needed.

We chose Brimeyer Cabin for our family's summer weekend getaway and it did not disappoint. We wanted a quiet and private location for our toddler, teenager, dog, and ourselves. It was close enough to Galena and the state park that we had plenty to do but far enough from other properties that all we could hear were cows, birds, and other animals. The cabin was the perfect size for our family, and everything was clean and tidy when we arrived. The outdoor space was perfect for relaxing, and our toddler and dog loved going on walks through the property. Great for the whole family!

Once you work your way up the gravel road you're greeted by an adorable cabin and open space. The cabin is 3 levels and easily accommodated 2 adults, 4 children and our two dogs. Our kids and dogs enjoyed the open space and connected walking trails. There was no fear of losing our kids and they enjoyed the freedom. Cabin has every common amenity you can think of. Overall great place to disconnect from the world. FYI cell service isn't the best immediately at the cabin which we enjoyed but something to be aware of. Bonus perk: Cabin goer's got to use passes to access the local pool and local lake!

It was a great, quiet place to stay. My spouse loved the forest and the secluded-ness of the cabin. I definitely recommend stopping by the store for all you food/supply necessities before getting there! Overall was very cozy and an amazing stay.
