Each year we return to this beautiful and peaceful spot of paradise. This house is a well loved home, with comfortable beds, sofas to relax on and an outside deck overlooking the water with truly magnificent views. Whether you love hiking, pottering around the local stores or just sitting outside enjoying a good book, this is the perfect place to be! Thank you again for another memorable stay in your lovely home.

a fantastic location, private but convenient to everything. Wonderful watching the lobster boats setting out in the morning fog, or a regatta from the local club from the hot tub! The cottage is superb, casual but well appointed - where else can you find a 'le creuset' dutch oven or Henkel knives in the kitchen? Owners are friendly and responsive, as are the team who keeps up the property, which has had many recent upgrades. Can't say enough about the place.

Lovely retreat with excellent views! Kitchen was fully stocked with appliances and cookware needed to make meals. Plenty of room for a family of four to each have their own space. We would stay here again if we are visiting Acadia in the future.

Amazing location and so much privacy. We absolutely loved staying here- views from every room and then once you walk outside hearing the ocean and birds was absolutely amazing. My kids had a blast on the rocks looking for sea glass and found hundreds of pieces. We had the best week- an absolute perfect location. We loved going into town to eat and see the shops. The quiet side is the way to go. I would definitely come back. We even saw turkeys and deer outside. Very easy communication with the owners and no issues.

Quaint older style cottage(s) located near Seawall. Lots of wildlife (saw deer multiple times per day). About a 15 minute walk to Seawall, 10 minutes to the General Store. Bonus that each room has their own bathroom. Hot tub on deck was nice to use in the evenings after long, active days in the Park.

We really enjoyed watching the sun rise each morning. The kitchen was well equipped. Lots of deer browsing around the property. Would have like to use the fireplace but understand insurance doesn't cover it. We arrived in the pouring rain and lights along the walkway would have been helpful.

View from the deck was amazing. Location 20 minutes to Bar Harbor. Wonderful trails everywhere. Charlotte’s lobster right around the corner. Seriously- watch for the deer right around there!

We had a spectacular time at the Ledges. I went with my parents and my dog, and we spent the week enjoying the food in Southwest Harbor, swimming in Echo Lake, and hiking Acadia. The Ledges is perfectly situated on MDI - close enough to Acadia but far enough from the crowds, and returning to the privacy and peace of the Ledges feels like a treat each and every time.
New bed linens and pillows for each bedroom and towels in the twin room and kitchen seem like a small expense and would make the inside as terrific as the outside.
We had a bit of trouble getting into the property as the keys were not where they were supposed to be so that was initially stressful, but was easily remedied as the back door had been left open.

The property was ideally located - both in terms of the setting itself and its location on the island. If waking up to the sunrise over the water and falling asleep to the sound of waves is your idea of a perfect house, this is the place for you. The Wonderland and Ships Harbor trails are nearby and are a great way to start or end your day. The carriage roads are also not to be missed.
The house was spotless and very comfortable. It’s obvious that this was a well-used family home whose presence is apparent throughout. We are already planning our return trip.

The minute you walk into the home, you can feel that this is a well loved family home.
It is a quiet secluded spot of paradise, central to Southwest Harbor and numerous hiking trails.
We had such a lovely time again in this beautiful home - with its comfy beds, well equipped kitchen and stunning views.
Thank you again for another wonderful stay, we cannot wait to return next year.

Everything about this house speaks of the sea, from the ocean outside your door to the knick knacks. The location is private but close enough to bass harbor and southwest harbor to be convenient. Makes you feel like youve been summering here forever!

Thanks for another wonderful stay at your beautiful house. Location is great for exploring the "quiet side" of Acadia and the house is very clean and convenient for 6 guests.
Being there for the super Sturgeon Moon rising over the water was amazing. We can't wait to go back.

This property is just beautiful, secluded and peaceful. Fogged in sometimes listening to the bell buoy, but clear as a bell at other times. An idyllic coastal Maine setting. Well equipped in the kitchen, plenty of towels, great hot tub. 25 minutes to Bar Harbor. Deer greeted us every time we drove in the driveway. Easy directions and access and easy communication with the owner.

The house is amazing with beautiful views of the harbor. The grounds surrounding the home are secluded and beautiful.
You couldn’t ask for a more fantastic venue for a Maine vacation!

The house in Seawall was just as advertised. The host was very responsive and helpful. The setting is quiet, peaceful and right on the water with beautiful views of the Western Way. The bedrooms were very comfortable and included plenty of towels, linens and blankets. The kitchen was well equipped and very functional, but could use an update. All three bathrooms worked well and were very clean. The hot tub worked well and was very clean. The cottage was great. Very helpful for in-laws or teenagers. Wifi worked really well throughout the main house (but not at all in the cottage). Cell service is spotty but ok on the deck. The only real negative was the living room furniture (the reason for only 4 stars). There are two very small love seats and one upholstered chair that were virtually unusable. They are all very old and worn out. The other thing that needs to be addressed are the screen doors, especially the one in the dining room - it really didn't work. All that being said, I would gladly book the house again and would highly recommend this house if you're looking for a Downeast, quietside vacation.

Beautiful, tranquil, right on the water. My brother in law set up his easel and painted on the big back porch overlooking the water.
Plenty of storage, so many books! Lobster pot (which we used just about every day!) Quiet. Really lovely.

My wife and in-laws had a fantastic week. Location couldn’t be beat. A couple of days we did virtually nothing but sit on the deck and enjoy the beautiful view. Won’t repeat what other reviewers have said except to add that we were delighted when we first walked in and it only got better. Look forward to returning.

Beautiful retreat
As others reviews mention, pictures don't do it justice. Lovely, quiet retreat, easy drive to SW Harbor and Acadia. We had a fantastic time. (Friendly suggestion: couches could stand to be replaced).

As lovely as ever
This was our group's third year visiting this lovely home in Seawall, just south of Southwest Harbor - clearly we are fans. The oceanfront location can't be beat, and the home is as charming and relaxing as ever. Thanks to Victoria for the easy communication and smooth rental process. We hope to return again!

GREAT LOCATION
The location is very secluded and beautiful. If I was to nitpick the furniture and décor is very dated but in good condition and clean. Overall I would consider this property a hidden gem as long as you don't mind having to drive a little to get to town.

MDI Fall visit
Visited for our anniversary and wife's birthday. Beautiful setting. Peaceful surroundings. Greeted almost every morning by deer in the yard. Convenient to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor but can escape the crowds. Definitely would return and recommend!

A peaceful visit to Acadia
This is one nice spacious home, post-and-beam construction, with water views from the open kitchen/dining/family room, and the two primary bedrooms. Huge deck, and a modern hot tub. The TV was a good size flat panel. The location on Southwest Harbor was perhaps one of the most quiet on Mt Desert Island. There's a camp store 3/10 of a mile away, and Charlotte's (busy) outdoor dining restaurant close, We could have walked to Seawall cove, about 7/10 of a mile away, and close to Wonderland, Ship Harbor, and Bass Harbor coastal areas. The Acadia park entrance is about 30 miles away. Lobster boats go by the coast. Saw deer, a seal, dolphins, Cormorants. If you want a night life bar-hopping, you'd want to stay in Bar Harbor. If you want to find your Zen, this is your den.

Exactly as advertized, this peaceful home near the water’s edge provides many hours of enjoyment and entertainment. Great for groups and family gatherings. Victoria provides generous amounts of information and helpful suggestions.

A perfect retreat
We truly enjoyed our stay. It was the perfect retreat from the busy touristy side of MDI. The home was clean and very comfortable - absolutely no complaints. Kids loved exploring the tidal pools and evenings were spent on the deck enjoying the view and all that nature has on display even from the hot tub! It was perfect. Great location away secluded from the craziness and crowds but easily accessible to everything MDI has to offer. We would 100% recommend this home!!

A little bit of heaven
Loved the cottage and location - close to everything on the island but private and surrounded by nature. Deer make an appearance daily, close to SW Harbor and the Quiet Side of Acadia National Park treasures, warm sunrises and ocean air, watching regattas from the deck, and everything you would want you can find at the Erhart Cottage! 5 star in my book!

House with a view
Beautiful view of the Southwest Harbor inlet . Great porch to enjoy from morning to night !! Very good restaurants close by with great lobster rolls. Very nice being away from the BarHatbor crowds!

As beautiful and relaxing as I remember
This was our family's second summer staying at this lovely house on Seawall point. It was as good as we remembered - gorgeous views, privacy and charm. We can recommend Abel's on the road down into Northeast Harbor for a fabulous sunset dinner. For someone looking for an "iron rung" hike but wanting to avoid the Beehive crowds - we can recommend the Beech Cliff trail that starts from the north end of the Echo Lake beach parking lot - 10 minutes from the house! Thanks to Victoria for sharing your lovely home and for making the VRBO experience so pleasant!

Beautiful!
We had a wonderful week here. Fell asleep to the sound of the waves and the bell buoys, enjoyed gorgeous sunrises over the ocean, and spent most of our time on the porch gazing at the view. The kids loved the beach and we were close to lots of great hikes and activities for them - the Wonderland and Ship Harbor trails, butterfly garden and lobster boat trip in Southwest Harbor, and of course Thurston’s and Beal’s for lobster. What a great place!

Great place in Southwest Harbor
The house was in a great secluded spot right on the water. Beautiful rocky beach. Great deck looking out over the water. The home had awesome wood beams and was a cozy place to relax! We had 4 adults and our French Bulldogs and we all enjoyed our stay! Very pet friendly and the owner/ manager was absolutely awesome. Highly recommend as a great place to stay on the coast of Maine!!

Great location and property
Loved the location and serene surroundings. The house architecture is really cool. and overall vibe is homey and cozy. It’s a great place for families and gatherings. Housekeeping needs to step up there game though.

Absolutely loved this house and the location!!!
Pictures do not so it justice the beautiful view this house has of the bay and how big and spacious it is! We loved watching the sunrise and the sunset across the bay and even had an eagle visit us one day in the trees in front of the house. The hot tub rejuvenated our sore muscles from hiking everyday! Kitchen was well stocked and we had plenty of room and used all 3 bedrooms which each has their own bathroom which was nice. Great restaurants nearby that we took take out for because we couldn't imagine better view than right from this house. We will be back for sure! PS our dogs loved it too laying on the deck looking at the birds and squirrels and even deer. Cindy

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and appreciated being on the quieter side of the island. We could still quickly get to Acadia for hiking and bike rides. Don’t miss Cafe 2 in the town of Southwest Harbor for breakfast, lunch, dinner or cocktails! We also enjoyed the food and service at Upper Deck. In the midst of COVID, we felt safe everywhere and saw nearly everyone wearing masks. Good job, Maine! The house is lovely, very comfortable, with everything we needed — and the views of the water and surrounding forest were a real treat from sunrise to sunset. Thanks for a wonderful, relaxing vacation!

Our Favorite Place!
We have been visiting Southwest Harbor for five years and this is by far our favorite home that we have stayed in. This was our second time renting this property and we enjoyed it as much as the first time we stayed several years ago. It is wonderfully secluded and feels so relaxing to be right on the water. It has everything we need and is quite comfortable. We cook most meals and find the kitchen to be well stocked. Lots of wildlife and consistent boat traffic coming in and out of the harbor keep kids and adults alike entertained. The house is close to some great ocean hikes and all the amenities of Southwest Harbor. We will definitely be back. It's truly a lovely home.
