==========NEIGHBOURHOOD==========
Neighbourhood overview:
The main square of west Vinohrady is "Náměstí Míru" (Peace Square) with Prague 2 town hall, Vinohrady Theatre, Gothic Revival Saint Ludmila Church (Josef Mocker, 1892) and a station of A metro line. In the central part of Vinohrady near Vinohradská street, there lies "náměstí Jiřího z Poděbrad" (George of Poděbrady Square) with a modern "Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Our Lord" by Jože Plečnik built in 1932. There are several parks in Vinohrady. Havlíčkovy sady (literally Havlíček's Orchards) is the Prague's second-largest park. There is Villa Gröbe that served as summer house of the nobility, it is inspired by Italian Renaissance suburban villas and is surrounded by vineyards still in production founded by Charles IV in the second half of the 14th century. Vineyards and Vineyard summerhouse were at the end of the 20th century started to deteriorate, but were renewed and now has an area of 1.7 hectares and annually produces 4,000 liters of wine. There are grown varieties of Müller Thurgau, Rhine Riesling, Dornfelder, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, and since 1997 there annually happen "Vinohrady vintage celebrations" (usually in September). In the north-west part of Vinohrady, near Italská street, there is Riegrovy sady (Rieger's Orchards) with Vinohrady Sokol House and a large outdoor restaurant. Folimanka Park is situated at the Vinohrady side of Nusle Valley under large Nusle Bridge. Smaller parks are situated in central Vinohrady: sady Svatopluka Čecha (Svatopluk Čech's Orchards) near Vinohradská street, Bezručovy sady (Petr Bezruč's Orchards) between Slezská and Francouzská street) and parks at all main Vinohrady squares. Very good location in a residential area in the centre of Prague with quick and excellent access to everywhere.

The attention and time Maury gave us before arriving was extensive and prompt. He was punctual, very friendly and thorough in ensuring we knew how to access and use everything. He provided plenty of helpful suggestions via links and in person. Maury takes pride in ensuring his guests receive the same level of service that he would expect for himself. Four happy Canadians who would not hesitate to rent from Maury again!

We had a terrific time in Prague. Maury was a fantastic host. Meet us at 10 PM and spent time explaining everything about the Apartment. The neighborhood is great, with many places to eat and visit. It was an easy walk to the Main area of Prague or use the fantastic transit system. Terrific Host for our stay.

Prague is a capital city and has the intensity of one. It was nice to be staying with real Czechs and not in the tourist bubble. The transit system is free to people over 65 and easy to use. Maury gives full and accurate info about the apartment and Prague in the Vrbo posting and his letter but he does not reprint that info in the flat and he resents if you haven’t read it as I hadn’t! There is a pleasant balcony looking on to the gardens in the middle of the block. The apartment is quiet, comfortable and easy to use.

The simplicity and location of the property was a great match for us and our military son who was meeting us in Prague over the weekend. The flat was great for the family, the extra room was perfect for him, and the location of the flat gave us quick access to old town and public transportation, and yet kept us away from the swarm of people. The owners were exceptional (especially Maury), communicated very well with us with very detailed and helpful instructions and tips, and were excellent hosts.

Overall, the apartment suited our needs. Maury met us and explained washer and apartment set up. Good communication especially for transportation (metro/tram). Good restaurants nearby (Johnny’s Pizza Bar and Pho Vietnam Tuan &Lan - both excellent). Tesco Express for groceries. I loved the enclosed balcony as I could see New Year’s fireworks and enjoy morning tea.The beds were uncomfortable and pillows had no support to the. One bed very low to the ground. The fitted sheets need updating (old and pilling). The duvet and cover were fine. Towels were adequate. The sink sponge had been used by others so I did not use (used paper towels instead). Would have liked a second trash bag for kitchen trash and there were no trash bags for the bathroom. We couldn’t get the TV to work ( we did not ask for Maury to review this with us upon arrival ). The washer worked well but was not a clothes dryer as well which was my interpretation from the apt description so used a drying rack. Tried to take kitchen trash out the morning we left but the trash cans were gone (assumed trash collector was nearby but never saw them so trash went back to apartment). Couch and chairs were comfortable but old. Overall great location. We never did contact Maury because we chose not to.
