About this cottage rental
This is 'the way life should be'... Camp Card Cove is a comfortable shingle-style Maine camp/cottage on large private 2 acre lot in Harpswell. Located at the end of a long dead-end gravel driveway, this architecturally designed Maine waterfront camp is yours to enjoy. Its location is peaceful and private on beautiful Card Cove, a protected deep-water anchorage, just a few minutes sail from gorgeous Casco Bay. The entire level lot and over two hundred feet of owned waterfront and private dock are at your disposal. Fish, barbecue, relax and rest as you gaze out on the cove and breathe in the salty fresh air. The fall is the perfect time to spend in Maine, enjoy hikes and day trips without the crowds. Explore the beauty of Mid Coast Maine, including Booth bay Harbor, which is only 45 minutes away. Relax at night with the gas fireplace indoors, or outdoors with our fire pit.
The home features 4 bedrooms ( Master, bedroom one and two and loft )and 3 bathrooms for maximum comfort with minimum hassle, there is a total of 2600 square feet of living space. This is a newer construction home, not a fixer upper, in immaculate condition. We can send additional pictures of Quahog Bay, the grounds or the interior of the cottage if you like, just ask. Why stay at hotel or Inn when you can stay at your own private oceanfront cottage? The home also features a separate 'kids suite' with two sets of bunk beds on the second floor with TV/DVD and separate bathroom. The kids can be close by yet the parents can have their privacy.
The master bedroom opens onto a private second floor balcony with ocean views to Card Cove and Quahog Bay. Sip some wine and watch the sailboats and lobster men from your private porch. There is another bedroom on the second floor, as well as one on the main floor, perfect for guests that find it difficult to maneuver upstairs. A large but cozy living room with gas fireplace and TV as well as a screened in porch and outdoor deck complete the perfect vacation! The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, dishes and glasses. The view from the kitchen is incredible, and most likely you would want to cook at the house, instead of frequenting restaurants!! However, if you choose to eat out the towns of Brunswick and Bath have some very fine restaurants and Portland's Old Port is an easy 35 minute drive.
Boaters take note...there is a mooring and dock available for use with prior arrangements so sail to the home or bring your boat and explore Casco Bay. We also include the use of a small dinghy and two kayaks, a 10.6 foot 'Precision' and a 13.8 foot Old Town 'Loon'. Bring your own if you prefer or make it easy and fun and just use ours!
Imagine sailing on your day-sailor in protected Card Cove . Sail the bay and smell the salt air.
Late summer and Fall are more beautiful than ever. Watch the changing leaves, eat lobster in the cool fall air.
Don't forget to plan ahead for the summer..peak weeks book well ahead of the summer so reserve your week now.
Peak season rentals run Saturday to Saturday. The calendar may or may not automatically tell you that.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Fall rental inquiries are starting to pick up so reserve early!!! Ask about our multi week discounts. JUST E-MAIL US!
Renting a private home is different than staying at a hotel. It is important to ask questions before you reserve and to have realistic expectations. We have done our best to describe our properties, however, guest expectations vary. If you have special requests or needs please ask before you reserve. We want to avoid renter's remorse or the old "this was not what I thought it was going to be like". In most cases guests never asked any questions!!!! Refunds at the time of check in are not permitted.
Thank you,
John and Karen

We really enjoyed your house and in spite of all the pictures you have on your website there is no way to do justice to such a lovely house. The sunrise over the water and watching all the lobster boats were both beautiful.

Absolutely lovely home with wonderfully accommodating hosts! Ocean front, kayaks … what else does one need? Pictures don’t do the home or the location justice. If you’re on the fence, don’t hesitate! Thank you John and Karen for an unforgettable vacation with 4 generations under one roof!!!

This is a very special place that overlooks Card Cove in Harpswell, ME. The house is immaculate and well-equipped, with comfortable beds and inviting furnishings. Best of all is the view of the water and the easy access from the dock to kayak among the cormorants. The hosts are responsive, lovely people. You can't go wrong with Camp Card Cove!

The house sits on a nice lot with a great view of the water. Home was too big for the 2 of us but loved having the space. Sun room to deck to fire pit and to the dock watching the sun rise and set. Nice way to spend the days. Home had just about everything you need- even all sizes of lobster pots.
Next time to Maine we would stay here again.

As always we are never disappointed. Loved the new renovations and additional kayaks. The indoor and outdoor space works so well for our family of 10. Karen and John are exceptional at returning inquiries. The view just makes you smile.

Practically perfect in every way
Our group of 7 adults and one small dog had a wonderfully relaxed fall vacation week at Card Cove. Was just as advertised inside and out: spacious, welcoming, well maintained and stocked. Good Internet and cell service for our needs. Owners are very responsive to all questions ahead of booking and through to departure. We hit end of season closures for some local businesses in October, but found some real gems: Hawkes Lobster in Nearby Cundy’s Harbor for retail shellfish and Wild Oats Bakery and Cafe in Brunswick both open 7 days/wk. Two minor caveats to share: (1)Although dogs are allowed, there is notice in the home that they be leashed at all times so as not to bother neighbors cats and chickens. Not a problem for us, but might be a surprise for others. (2)Two couches in living room seat many but are both quite low and lacking support; elders may have difficulty getting up. All in all a wonderful spot highly recommended.

Wonderful week at Camp Card Cove
Our week at Camp Card Cove was wonderful. The location is fantastic with wonderful views of Card Cove . The home was very comfortable and well equipped. There was ample room for my wife and me, our two children and their spouses, and our three grandkids. Access to the kayaks was especially appreciated. The two older grandkids loved swimming off the dock. The local seafood is not to be missed. All in all, a great week.

A magical place!
Card Cove is a lovely, welcoming, comfortable home in a beautiful, secluded and quiet setting. We kayaked off the dock most days and often had the cove to ourselves (not counting the many varieties of birds). Homemade baked goods, fresh fish, lobster and vegetables and a good wine shop are all a few minutes away by car. John and Karen are excellent hosts and Al the handyman keeps things humming.

Perfect house for special occasion
The property exceeded our expectations for accommodating our family to celebrate 50 yrs of our life together and our daughter’s milestone birthday. The property is so well appointed and the setting beautiful. We enjoyed kayaking and the small boat every day! We had fires in the fire pit and enjoyed being able to eat outside. The upstairs loft area accommodated our son and family. Their toddler and 1 yr old used the lower bunk and the pack n play provided. The downstairs edition was perfect for a bad human knee and a senior dog! We plan on coming back! The 3 weeks went by TOO quickly!!

Beautiful large house on the water!
We LOVED Camp Card Cove. It was right on the water with a beautiful lawn and views. Everything necessary was there and we felt at home. The pictures don't do the inside of the house justice; the master bedroom is spacious and lovely. Would love to stay again!

Great Thanksgiving getaway....
We had a wonderful time at the house. Only one problem of note was with the gas fireplace, and we contacted the owner and their sons came over to help. Unfortunately it continued to be tricky so we just turned it off, to be safe. Other than that, it was a great, roomy and comfortable place for our relaxed vacation with our college aged sons. Thank you! Would love to return!

Our two weeks at Camp Card Cove were the best! The waterfront was a must have for us and Card Cove delivered. We used the deep water dock constantly, whether to launch a kayak or paddle board, or tie up our power boat before a ride in Quahog Bay. Card Cove itself was absolutely beautiful and a wonderful and protected place for paddling and kayaking. The property itself had incredible lawn space. We had all sorts of fun playing frisbee, corn hole, and other games. Plenty of space for our dogs as well. We enjoyed our walks and bike riding as well. A beautiful spot all around. The house space worked really well for us, plenty of large rooms and gathering space. Karen was very responsive throughout the entire process, answering questions promptly before and while we rented. We entertained family and friends and just had two great weeks. We miss it already! We highly recommend Camp Card Cove

We had so much fun kayaking and canoeing. Beautiful sunrises and tons of fun fishing. Convenient to stores for necessary supplies. Enjoyed the outside fire pit. The house is spacious and lovely. Beautiful OceanFront Property
Wonderful location and house in Harpswell.
Right on the ocean with plenty to do - kayaks, row boat, water table, nice yard, fishing, grilling.
Excellent communication with property manager throughout.
Look forward to coming back.

Lovely holiday in Harpswell
The house was lovely and the view out over the water was just incredible . It was not only well stocked with pots and pans etc but even had a few spices in the pantry in case one suddenly needed some and hadn't purchased any . The beds were comfortable .
The layout was a bit different , with one of the bed rooms kind of off the master , and we weren't sure which bathroom they would sue but we didn't end up using that room .
We did have one glitch with the heating, emailed the owner in the evening and they had someone out the next morning .
The whole stay was great .
The only caveat I would say is that although it is fabulous that they allow dogs, the master is in the second floor, which can be a real challenge for older dogs , and the main road they are on is a little hard to walk a dog on . So , just a note for dog owners !
I would definitely stay there again . Lovely place .

Second fabulous visit
My family spent a wonderful week in Summer of 2018 at Camp Cove Cottage. It was a no brainer to return this year. We were not disappointed! Truly it felt like coming home. We had perfect weather and enjoyed everything the house offers. Late Summer meant cool nights, warmer water and very few mosquitoes! We - grandparents, 30- something offspring, 2 year old grandson and Lily the dog feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to enjoy the place we now call our ‘Summer home’.

Amazing views
We had a lovely time at Camp Card Cove and couldn’t get enough of the views!
Pros
Beautiful setting
Dock and water access
Spacious
Lots of equipment (kayaks, water table for toddler)
Screened in porch
Cons
Mosquitoes made it hard to enjoy time outside
Unusual layout of the house wasn’t great for our particular group (very much sectioned off)
Steps in two of the bedrooms (second bedroom on second floor and the loft room) and steps to the living room were difficult for our 17 month old to navigate without very close supervision
We had a great time overall!

Quiet, Beautiful, and On the Water
Camp Card Cove was perfect for our family to share for a week, with my children and grandchildren. The view was magnificent. The lawn was great for croquet. The dock made swimming and boating very accessible. We made excellent use of the kitchen and appreciated its layout and roominess. The mosquitoes and noseeums were annoyingly active, likely due to the recent wet weather. The weather for our week was fantastic. The sturdy and long dining table was excellent for our crew. We all look forward to returning to Camp Card Cove.

Our stay at Camp Card was great. The house was beautiful and had plenty of room for our family. It was peaceful and the view was amazing. The yard was Large and beautifully landscaped around the house. Our dog loved jumping off the dock. The kayaking was great. Mosquitoes were bad but We just dealt with it. Loved it!
Thank you.

Everything was perfect!
This is a fantastic house: well maintained, lovely furnishings, plenty of space for everyone, large yard for our dog to run around. We stayed for a week in July. The cove is easy to explore on kayaks. The kitchen has everything you need. The screened porch is great in the evening when the mosquitos are out. This is a great house for a multi-generational family. My elderly father was comfortable in the main floor bedroom that also has a full bathroom. We took day trips to Freeport and Portland, and went to Brunswick for groceries and the farmers market. There are a number of lobster shacks all around the area. We absolutely loved it!

Wonderful family vacation.
We could not have found a better place for our family vacation. The home and the location are spectacular. The home was so comfortable for our family, which included my husband and myself along with 2 of our children with their spouses, and 4 of our grandchildren, ages 11 years old down to 21 months. There was something for all of us to enjoy. Nobody wanted to leave when our week was over. We hope to come back!

Perfect family vacation spot!
Our family - Grandma and Grandpa, 2 sons with their wives, 14 month old baby boy, 2 year old dog- just finished a truly glorious week at Cove cottage. The property delivered all we were looking for. We love to be together for meals and hanging out. We are all people who love and need private downtime as well. The layout of the house delivered both with ease. The screen porch was a favorite spot, as was hanging around the big dining table. Access to the water was a must for us. The house delivered there beautifully with wonderful views with lots of water wildlife. We even spied an American Eagle. There were enough kayaks on the property for us all to be out on the water together. We were surprised that the water was warm enough for swimming off the dock and since it was a hot week we took full advantage. We had everything we needed and spent a very happy week rarely leaving the property except to stock up with food and drink. It took only 10 minutes to get to the supermarket. Best of all was Gurnet’s Seafood for Lobster and the best Diver Scallops imaginable which we grilled on the terrace. Great fried clams there too! We had no complaints which is something to say in a group of 6 adults. We are already talking about next Summer. Thank you to our hosts for making us feel so at home.

Family Celebration
Our family (8) thoroughly enjoyed our week at Camp Card Cove. The accommodations were well suited for all of us to have our own space. The kids were on the dock, fishing off the dock, in the rowboat or kayaks from early morning till dusk! The peacefulness was delicious! Early morning kayaking was very special. Having all the necessary equipment for boiling lobsters and doing a shrimp boil was a bonus. We moved the picnic table into the screened in porch and had lovely dinners without the bugs! John was quick to respond when we had questions. Thanks for a memorable vacation!

Scenic setting water access kitchen for cooks
Camp Card Cove provided all we needed and more. Screened in porch to enjoy the views and the breeze. Well tended flower gardens where the hummingbirds and butterflies thrived. Wonderful water view from master bedroom, deck and dining room. Downstairs bedroom and bath convenient for someone who doesn’t want to do too many stairs. Loft room over garage(and the two staircases) make it an adventure house for kids, dogs and adults alike! As cooks, we found everything we needed in the kitchen and open setup of the dining living rooms meant that cooks were not cutoff. Loved walking the dogs down long point road every day and of course, swimming from the shore or off the dock. A little tricky at some tides for our older dog to get out of the water, but they both loved to swim each day. Leaping off the dock was a favourite activity for our younger dog. We had a fabulous week and we hope to be back next year.

Definitely the way life should be
We reviewed numerous listings on the Maine coast and this was our top choice. The house is spacious and open, well maintained, very clean and well equipped. The common rooms all have ocean views and we relaxed with morning coffee in the screened patio. The site is quiet and private with water access on a protected cove and has beautiful sunrises. The Harpswell peninsula has many scenic hiking trails & close to wonderful restaurants (recommend Wild Oats in Brunswick) and is only a 45 minute drive to Portland or Popham Beach. The owners were wonderful, quick to respond to any questions and were very helpful. We enjoyed our stay!!!!

Lovely
This was our second visit to Camp Card Cove, and it sustained our lovely memory of the first. The house is situated with expansive views of the cove. Lobster boats and fishermen punctuated the pristine scenery that greeted us in the morning and lulled us to sleep at night.
The house is casual, tastefully done, and well maintained. John and Karen are wonderful hosts and easily available.
We will return again...and again...

Absolutely amazing place! Owners , John and Karen were terrific !
Could not have found a more perfect place. The view overlooking the water was breathtaking and the house was extremely comfortable and have everything we could have possibly needed. The owners, Jon and Karen went above and beyond to help make sure we could get our handicap mother in and out of the rental property. We cannot thank them Enough!

Heaven in Harpswell!!
My husband and I just spent two weeks at Camp Card Cove in Harpswell, ME. We had a wonderful time!! The first week we were joined by another couple who had never visited Maine. They so enjoyed their week there that they are already looking forward to their next trip! The second week my sister, her husband, their daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter arrived and again we had a grand time. Camp Card Cove is beautiful and well stocked with all you need. It has a huge yard which we all enjoyed as well as 4 kayaks and a canoe. The views from the living room, dining area and kitchen were perfect. But my favorite spot was the screened in porch!! Thank you, John and Karen, for an outstanding Maine visit!!

Great family Vacation Spot
Our whole family thoroughly enjoyed our week's vacation. Great location, quiet, easy access to the water and the entire peninsula. The three islands offered great boating, fishing, crabbing, and sightseeing along the water and inland trails. The house had pretty much everything we wanted in terms of cooking, relaxing, sleeping, enjoying the outdoors and just being together. Karen and John were always available to answer any questions we had and to make sure our stay was enjoyable
