A gem of a place in a location handy for lots of great south coast day trips

The building is grand and the rooms do not disappoint - ours was vast with a lovely bathroom with a rain shower and superb quality towels and bed linen. Lots of choice for breakfast, fresh fruit and staggered sittings so service is prompt and cheerful. Two nice pubs in walking distance - ate at the Old Oak which was lovely but busy so probably need to book, had drinks at the Bear which had a great selection of wines by the glass and laid on a mezze for us at a late hour without a booking, even though their kitchen was closed. There’s a faded glory to the aging 5 star decor and furnishings which matches the vibe. Yes they could paint or update a little, but with a host of original features, vast gardens and tiny terraces to bedrooms, but there’s bags of charm in the place and it would lose that and look more like a premier inn and less like a bed and breakfast if they went too far in that direction. Lots of space for parking. Great location if you have a car and are planning day trips up and down the coast.

The pool is a plunge pool and the pictures are deceptive - we had planned swims and pool time and ended up sight seeing instead.

Very disappointing

Dorota and Debbie were welcoming and the bed was very comfortable.

There were tears on the bed linen and the suite although very large lacked order as the drinks facilities were cramped, cluttered and too close to the bed. The balcony floor and it's furniture were dirty and in need of a good sweep and wash down. The atmosphere in the house was dismal with spooky paintings and decor reminiscent of the Addams Family. And it didn't help that the room next door was named Phantom. The communal area carpets were dirty and in need of a good hoover and the silverware accessories in the dining room although impressive was in need of a thorough clean and polish. Same for the table with dirty finger marks underneath. The quality of the breakfast was very poor, luke warm, over-cooked eggs, burnt sausages, dried up toast and with budget ingredients - certainly not as expected. All in all not up to the published reviews in any sense and I will certainly not recommend.

A beautiful home away from home

We always love our time at Cedar House. It feels like a home away from home. The garden rooms are so beautiful and you have so much privacy and independence. And breakfast is always amazing!

A welcoming, warm and relaxing stay. Would not hesitate to return!

A lovely getaway in our own hut, loved the privacy and garden access which is clearly very well looked after. The bed was so comfy with a large well lit bathroom. Many places to relax and the facilities (hot tub and swimming pool) just topped it! Amazing value for money.

Mini fridge in room would have been a bonus but you have access to a main shared fridge in garden so not an issue.

It was great but the shower was a let down ☹️

It was quite and peaceful best location for newlyweds! The staff were amazing kudos to them! The jacuzzi and the mini swimming pool were amazing!

The shower was a let down either it’s scalping hot or freezing cold you can’t get warm water to shower ☹️ At the end the hot water stops coming at all.

Absolutely stunning grounds, we had the half-moon cabin as a little weekend get away, it's got so much character! We were more than happy with the amenities, and the breakfast served was brilliant. The owners were lovely and so welcoming, willing to go above and beyond with any requests 😊 would definitely be recommending it and hopefully stay again!

Enjoyable short stay

Friendly welcome by Polish housekeeper as owners away. She looked after us well altho had limited English. Great and plentiful breakfast. Lovely and quiet, grounds were peaceful to sit in.

Some rooms in the house are dated but spacious. The garden villas are a great size but are like converted stables without windows, so a bit musty/damp.

A uniquely beautiful B&B with friendly staff and in a gorgeous location.

My husband and I stayed here for our wedding night. The staff were extremely friendly and were happy for us to check in early, as we wouldn’t be arriving at the B&B until late. The room and bathroom were clean and had a beautiful, unique style. The breakfast in the morning was great as we had a choice of continental options as well as a generous size cooked breakfast, of our preferences. We wish we could have stayed longer, but will definitely be booking again in future. Thanks for having us!

Main house only in are particular room to use the bathroom you have to go up a near vertical narrow stairs which were highly dangerous in are opinion.

Superb

Juliet Scott Fantastic location within 5 min drive to local beaches . Our room was incredibly secluded far away from other lodges . swimming pool was added bonus ,relaxing experience .lovely lady greeted us warmly on our arrivable . breakfast was simply the best ever !!!

Breakfast was excellent Lodge was secluded boutique style in lovely gardens a short stroll from the outdoor pool and main house where we ate breakfast There were coffee making facilities in the lodge A balcony with seating and our own deckchairs/loungers outside We also had access to a communal fridge freezer and a sauna next to the pool

The wifi was ok but dropped out easily as we were far from the main house
