Welcoming, relaxing, quiet, romantic and serene are some of the descriptions used by couples and individuals who've made our hillside Garden Cottage their Cambria destination. You can enjoy an idyllic Cambria experience in this tranquil location surrounded by Monterey Pines and terraced gardens.
An all-wood interior with streaming light from two large window seats combine with a pyramid roof and skylights to enhance a simple yet elegant interior. You’ll enjoy a cozy gas fireplace, hardwood floors, table and chairs, and a comfortable couch in the main living room. An extended window seat overlooks the forested canyon. A second window seat offers equally tranquil views. WiFi ready, and no TV. Just off the living room and down three steps brings you to a cozy sleeping nook with a firm standard size DOUBLE bed with a skylight, stain glass windows and French door to a small garden deck. You’ll find everything you need in the bright terracotta tiled kitchen and wood/tiled floor bathroom with standard-size shower stall. Premium towels and bathrobes provided. Steps away from the cottage is the large garden deck where you can enjoy the private peaceful canyon, wildlife, and distant ocean. The deck is the perfect place for morning yoga, an afternoon glass of wine, and an evening canyon sunset.

We live on the property and enjoy sharing our hillside with mature, respectful adults who are looking for a quality experience in peaceful surroundings. If you plan on entertaining, enjoy loud music into the night or smoke, this is not the vacation rental to choose.
Maximum 2 adults (minimum age 25), pet-free environment, no smoking (inside or out), two night minimum, three night minimum during holidays (New Years, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas). 3pm check-in, 11 am check-out. 5 days or less: $60 cleaning fee, 5 days is maximum stay permitted. County 12% occupancy tax applied.
Cancellations:
Bookings canceled at least 30 days before the start of the stay will receive a 100% refund.
Bookings canceled at least 14 days before the start of the stay will receive a 50% refund. No refund for early departure, inclement weather or anything outside our control.
$25 fee deducted from any refund due for echeck reversal (refund issued 31 days from echeck deposit date), $25 fee deducted from any refund due for personal check returned for any reason.

This was by far the most quaint, comfortable, amazing stay we have ever had the pleasure of staying at. The attention to detail by Lissa and John were amazing! Everything you could possibly need (& more) were included in this little house. We did not want to leave!

The Garden Cottage was perfect place to relax, read, nap, sip coffee, enjoy birds, gentle breezes and sunshine! Every inch of the small cozy space is utilized and simply decorated. The outdoor gardens are pleasant, even when viewing from the perfect window seat. Comfy bed and quiet surroundings made for peaceful sleep!

What a delightful cottage and area. Lissa and John have thought of everything. It was sweet and beautiful. From cozy blankets to cookies and wine inside to a sun warmed deck and beautiful garden outside. It was perfect. Thank you Lissa and John. The love you put into the cottage is very obvious!

We absolutely loved staying at the Garden Cottage Retreat, and hope to visit again as soon as we can. We were greeted warmly by Lissa, one of the owners, with a fantastic plate or cookies and a wonderful bottle of wine. Somehow, we managed to stay for 3 warm and clear Spring days for our adventures in the area. The cabin was built and decorated divinely, with the guests’ comforts in mind, and we had everything we could possibly need. The gardens are beautiful, with a spacious deck and an umbrella table and chairs. Many beautiful singing birds live here. If you want peace, comfort, beauty and absolute joy, this is the place for you Can’t wait to be able to stay there again!

This property is a model of what a VRBO rental should be. It's in a beautiful location. It's meticulously maintained. And the hosts are unbelievably thoughtful. There is great mindfulness and intentionality in how they've set up the cottage -- from the house slippers to the bath robes to the umbrellas and, perhaps best of all, locally made artisan soaps, lotions, and shampoo.
My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our time here, and our only regret was that we didn't book it for longer.

The space and privacy in the beautiful garden surrounding the cottage provided a great place to watch wildlife. One of our favorite things was listening to the turkeys gobble as they wandered around the fringes of the property.

We had a great stay at this property. The unit is not big but it is designed so well, with 2 built-in sitting nooks, that it feels bigger than it is. The star here is the patio with the gorgeous views. We had a breakfast there, and a dinner too (with stunning sunset view). Definitely a gem in Cambria!

We stopped here for a little R&R before heading home and it was perfect! The cottage is small, but has all the amenities except for TV. The perks are the lovely garden that John and Liisa have cultivated and the private deck where you can sit and enjoy it all. It was also walking distance to the town and a short drive to walks along the coast. We would definitely do this again! :-)

This is hands down the best rental we’ve ever stayed in. The care and attention to detail that John and Lissa put into your experience is incredible - we were greeted with a bottle of wine and cookies, fruit, a fridge with butter and half and half. These are touches you don’t experience anymore!
The cottage itself has everything you need - all kitchen essentials, a beautiful fireplace, a reading nook. The garden was wonderful for breakfast and relaxing.
Couldn’t have better things to say and we will definitely be back!

What a peaceful stay for our 9th anniversary weekend! We loved everything about this little rental, from the thoughtful personalized touches to the amazing garden patio, it was just perfection. We love Cambria, so nice to go to our favorite beaches and restaurants. We are within driving distance so we will definitely be back! The only disappointment was we didn’t get to pet the dog PeeWee, next time!

An amazing little slice of heaven. The gardens are wonderful to walk through and watch the bees pollinate and the rabbits run between. Waking to the sound of turkeys and watching the deer frolic is the perfect way to enjoy a fresh cup of coffee. The window seat knooks are perfect to watch all of the life this property supports while diving into the wonderful library of books that are supplied.

We had an amazing stay on the cottage! We so appreciate the hospitality of our hosts and their attention to detail. The birds and wildlife provided constant entertainment. We left feeling refreshed and renewed!

The garden cottage was just perfect… darling exterior and everything you could possibly need on the inside. The walk down to the deck with a beautiful umbrella was a perfect place to sit and read… or watch the abundant wild life… bunnies, deer, birds and soaring hawks. The owners home is right there but we never saw or heard them.. I am sure they want you to enjoy the privacy & quiet of this lovely cottage. There is a peek of the ocean too. So very quiet.. a perfect place yo rejuvenate !

So much more than we expected. Every detail well thought out for the comfort of their guests. Such a serene setting with beautiful birds feasting at the feeders and the many deer showing up at dusk. Absolutely loved our weekend get away here.

Loved the 2 window seats that look out to the garden & canyon to sit in the sun & read a book in the afternoon. Garden seating was lovely. Gas stove was cozy in the morning. Nice touches of customized shampoo, Cond, soap & lotion. Good Homemade cookies, bottle of wine, butter & apples & bottled water to supplement the stay. Somewhat low light at night at the table with 2 chairs for working or reading, and 1 comfy chair by the fire. They filled the room nicely with various options. It clearly states double bed, but I forgot how small it is for 2 people turning & getting up & down at night, etc. Aside from that, it was a most peaceful, lovely & cozy stay, fairly convenient. It is a very distant ocean view, mostly not seen since far away, but nice west skyline. Overall very lovely, serene canyon & garden stay. PeeWee was a very cute little dog!

"The Garden Cottage "is a very soothing, relaxed getaway that we enjoyed. !Many wonderful choices to dine are within a 1-2 miles or less, with great local shops.
Idle time, great welcoming hosts, with everything you could want or need for a visit " a home away from home". Beautiful garden, with a stunning views and gentle sounds of the ocean breaking in the distance.
I love the atmosphere created here. Great place to treat yourself. Best suited for two people. (Double size bed) cozy.
