About this house rental
Wow! Santa Fe style Casa Tropical offers quite a unique setting and hill top seclusion and privacy at the end of a residential road on an acre amongst the gardens and forest in Manuel Antonio. The full covered roof top terrace provides 360 degree spectacular views of the lush forest and gardens, the Pacific in the distance to the west and the 4,000 feet above sea level Talamanca Coastal Range to the east. The seclusion of the house and higher elevation provides a daily abundance of wildlife.
Casa Tropical’s owners as of May 2017 have spent 10 years vacationing in Manuel Antonio and regularly visit the house. Casa Tropical has an excellent rental history and provides over 2,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor living space. The view to Casa Tropical’s west is towards the Manuel Antonio coastline and to the northeast the Talamanca Coastal Range behind the town of Quepos. Morning coffee on the roof top terrace, with ceiling fans and a bar is a must! Squirrel and capuchin monkeys are regular visitors from the adjacent lush forest. The wildlife watching from the roof is excellent with scarlet macaws introduced from a sanctuary very close to the property, as well as many toucans, parakeets and parrots regularly seen. On occasion even sloths are on or near the property. Even though most is here, we still recommend a walking tour of Manuel Antonio Park with Henry though! Casa Tropical is a very unique property and the "high ground" has its tremendous advantages!
Surrounding the home on the main and lower levels are covered tiled patio areas with ample outdoor seating surrounded by meticulous mature gardens. Ceiling fans were added to the main floor patio for additional comfort and new patio furniture (not pictured) has been added. The pool is family sized with large pool deck and nice pool chairs and umbrellas. Choose from numerous lounge chairs or hammocks throughout the property for your afternoon siesta.
The main upper floor of the home boasts a fully functional kitchen with gas range, full size refrigerator as well as an outdoor BBQ for meal preparation. There is also comfortable family room area with a 50” TV, DVD player and upgraded WIFI and a washroom. Air flow from the breeze on top of the hill, combined with the ceiling fans, open concept windows and doors provide a very comfortable main floor. Up to 12 can sleep comfortably in the 4 bedrooms on the ground level floor, with air conditioning in each of the 4 bedrooms. The master bedroom has its own washroom while the three bedrooms share a washroom. Three of the bedrooms also have direct outside access to the lower covered deck.
Ensuring everything goes as planned on your vacation and adding to your security, Andres, Ania and Kassandra separately reside on the property (but you would hardly know they are there, until you need something!) and have for over 15 years. Andres can arrange van transportation to and from the airport, or other parts of Costa Rica. Whatever tours or activities you desire, Andres will provide his recommendations and arrange. Most tours provide pick up and drop off at the house. The always helpful Andres loves the property and wildlife and will go out of his way to identify the birds and animals for you.
Ania and Kassandra provide regular housecleaning and laundry services for your personal laundry used while there. If you require laundry on arrival from your stay in another part of Costa Rica it can be sent out to an outside laundry service. Ania and Kassandra are excellent cooks and it can be arranged for them to prepare an excellent traditional Costa Rican meal at a reasonable price for you as well.
We hope your stay at Casa Tropical is your best vacation yet! Pura Vida!

The grounds of this home are even more beautiful than the pictures. It is a sensory feast - the gardens, butterflies, parrots, iguanas, songbirds, toucans, ocean and mountain views, smells of flowers and jungle - you just don't get tired of it. Only the bedrooms have AC, so the main living area can get warm midday, but the fans held a lot. The kitchen is set up well for making family meals (and saving money as eating out is pricey). The pool and the 3rd floor balcony are major plusses. I do not hesitate to recommend this house for a stay in the Quepos / Manuel Antonio area - my family of 5 loved it.

We enjoyed an amazing stay at Casa Tropical. The house is spacious and comfortable. We spent every morning on the housetop deck enjoying monkeys, iguanas and so many beautiful birds. The pool is a welcome place to cool off after a day of sightseeing.
Andres really made our stay perfect. He arranged all our excursions, all with rides that picked us up at the house. He even was our guide for an incredible waterfall tour. He had many great recommendations for places to eat.
We would definitely recommend not renting a car. Rides are readily available and I definitely was glad not to be driving on the roadways.
Gracias Andres Pura Vida!

We had the best week at Casa Tropical. We were a family of 11 and the house was spacious and very clean. The beds were very comfortable and nice to have A/C in the bedrooms. The kitchen was well stocked so we could cook some meals. We absolutely loved the rooftop porch. We enjoyed our early morning coffee up there each day. We saw toucans, parakeets, macaws, iguanas, three different types of monkeys, and so many butterflies. We even had a sloth travel through the trees! The pool was crystal clear and perfect for refreshing dips each day. Ana and Cassandra did a great job keeping our towels refreshed as needed and doing some of our laundry. Andres was extremely communicative and helpful. He booked us a guide for the MA Park, a full day waterfall tour, and gave many recommendations for beach services, things to see and do in town, and restaurants to eat at. We had the best trip and hope to return to this house again!

We had a wonderful time staying at Casa tropical. We were met at check-in by the local property manager who oriented us to the home. The highlights of this home were the rooftop deck and its view, the fantastic pool (perfect for kids), and the comfortable bedrooms. We enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Kassandra and Ana during our stay. One note for potential visitors is that the staircase to the roof deck has larger than normal steps (we are told the stairs are being redone soon). We did not have any trouble navigating the stairs, but perhaps not good for elderly. We really enjoyed staying in this beautiful home.

It is a unique opportunity to stay in this property. The road leads to the property is somewhat difficult ti negotiate, the owner provides very detailed instructions you better follow it very carefully. We arrived on the dark that was not easy to get there. However the morning is very fun with birds and monkeys wake you up. The roof top patio is the place to be. We have monkeys came right to the patio to dance. There are some residents iguanas on the 3rd floor.
There are fans in every room and they are very necessary. AC in each bedroom is wonderful.
Laundry is done by the property manager team. Someone comes around to pick up Laundry also clean the house, empty trash that was very nice. Some good eateries just 5 minutes away. Get to the town center is also 6 to 8 minutes away.

This place is as good as the reviews say. My family absolutely loved this house. The pool area was great. The 3rd story patio is awesome. We saw so many birds and animals from up there. White faced monkeys came through the property daily and troop of like 20 squirrel monkeys came through one day and hung out. It was even cooler than anything we saw at Manuel Antonio.
The house manager Andres was super responsive and helpful. Gave us quick recommendations for anything we wanted to do in the area. Kassandra took care of all of our laundry needs and was awesome.
If we ever return to the area in the future, we are going to stay here.

We stayed for four days and it was amazing! The house is very roomy with pool and the upper deck allows you to view all the birds and monkeys in trees. Andres was available for planning excursions and Cassandra and Anya cooked us a delicious dinner one night. Definitely would he back!

The property is gorgeous - tons of birds and monkeys to be viewed from the covered open-air porch on the roof!!! The swimming pool is a huge treat!
The beds were super comfy and we slept great in the air-conditioned bedrooms.
Kassandra and Anna make amazing meals - you should definitely ask them to cook for you! The best meals we ate in the country were cooked by them at Casa Tropical.
Andres is an amazing resource for booking local sights and guides. He set up numerous tours for us: a guide through Manuel Antonio National Park; a catamaran cruise; zip lining; waterfall rappelling at a local farm in the mountains. They were all fabulous!
We will definitely be staying at this home again on our next visit!

Overall, this vacation home was enjoyable, nestled within the rainforest where we saw macaws, toucans, many other birds, squirrel monkeys, capuchin monkeys, and howler monkeys from the top deck. The home has all the necessities for a week stay, and the location is great for visiting Manuel Antonio park and beaches. The main downside was the main floor had no air conditioning, so this part of this house (kitchen, dining room, living room) was uncomfortable. Some tall tower fans would really help. The downstairs bedrooms all had AC and were comfortable. The written directions to the property weren't helpful, as we had to get specific directions from the property manager to even find the property. And, the exit to the main road is on a dangerous curve. We were almost side-swipped by cars twice. This exit needs a curved mirror across the street to show oncoming traffic. But, these are minor items to an otherwise nice vacation home.

The house is actually much nicer in real life than in the pictures. You don't need to go anywhere to see the wildlife! Macaws and other parrots, iguanas, monkeys, toucans, and many more are right there, and you can watch them from the 3rd-floor observation deck. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need. The pool is a great addition to relax, although I wish the water were slightly cooler. It is tricky to find the place the first time, but once you find it - you are okay. The territory is big and the house is positioned on the hill, which is perfect for animals and birds viewing. Communication with the host is through WhatsApp, which is convenient; the internet was good for streaming and not interrupting our 7 connected devices. Overall, I highly recommend this place! We would go back for sure!

What a wonderful week. If you love nature and animals, you will love this place! Sitting high above on a hill, the top floor gives the perfect 360 view. It is just beautiful. We got up very early every morning to hear the Howler monkeys and to watch and hear multiple birds as they started their day. Macaws and parrots flew by daily and perched nearby, the Squirrel monkeys came for a visit several times. There were multiple babies with them! This property is a tropical paradise.
Andres set up tours and excursions for us and was very helpful with getting us some groceries and rides. (We did not have a car) The excursions were all fabulous and fun. We did a mangrove boat tour, a private tour to Nauyaca Waterfalls, a horseback ride, ATV riding and did a tour of Manuel Antonio Park. We had Ana and Cassandra make dinner for us one night, and it was delicious! They also helped us by doing a laundry for us.
The house was clean and had plenty of room. The showers were great and the beds were comfortable. The pool was very nice too. We would love to come back some day! We didn’t want to leave. Thank you Andres, Ana, Cassandra and Steve for an incredible vacation.

The property was as nice as it appears in the listing. We really enjoyed bird watching from the upper deck and lounging by the pool. The kitchen was adequately equipped for fixing meals for a large group. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable, and the air conditioning was greatly appreciated, as the area was experiencing a heat wave during our visit. Andres was helpful showing us around the house and explaining how things work. He's also an excellent bird watcher, and spent time with us pointing out the numerous birds around the property. Our group enjoyed a very nice dinner on our last night, prepared by the housekeepers.

Casa Tropical is truly the best of both worlds. We were able to see many different types of birds. We were visited daily by the monkeys and provided our kids with so much entertainment. Andres was amazing in setting up our tour and helping us arrange transportation for our large party. This is a place you do not want to pass on. Ana and Kassandra are AMAZING cooks!! If you stay, you must have them cook one night for you. The pool was a great bonus to have and wind down from long days!

This was a true escape to paradise. The home is tucked into the jungle, while still being close to all the bars and restaurants Quepos/Manuel Antonio has to offer. Andres, Ana, and Kassandra were the best hosts (they live on the same property as the house)—with Andres setting us up with wonderful tours and Ana and Kassandra keeping the house and property clean during our stay (as well as cooking a tremendous traditional meal for us!). All in all, this was a special place that made our experience in Manuel Antonio even more amazing.
Thank you, Andres, for all your help during our week. You went above and beyond!

Awesome place with a ton of character and awesome jungle surroundings. Saw a ton of wildlife everyday and enjoyed the pool area to relax and recharge. Close to Quepos and Manuel Antonio for eating and shopping. Andres and his family were awesome and invaluable for our excursions. I would go back and stay here again any day.

The stunning property had all the amenities one could need -- kitchen was fully stocked, bedrooms had good AC and were spacious, and the pool was perfect for swimming and lounging. For the animal lovers, we enjoyed red macaws, tucans, and monkeys throughout our stay! Geckos also made their nightly appearance in the house which was a treat for us lizard lovers.

This propert is amazing! The top floor is a fully covered area with large ceiling fans, giant dining table, and lounge chairs. We spent most of our time here, watching and listening to the birds and monkeys. Bring your binoculars! Absolutely unique space!
The entire property is gorgeous, lots of areas to sit or explore, both inside and outside. The pool is great, and many loungers and umbrellas! There are no nearby neighbors, so it's just the sounds of nature.
Some coffee provided for the first days. Had restaurant delivery 1 night.
The only thing we weren't expecting was the heat in Jan. It felt like 102°F, and the home is open air, AC only in bedrooms. This is stated in the home description, so it wasn't a surprise. The breezes early morning and late evening were cooling, and that's another reason we were on the roof most of the time!
Highly recommend this home! Would stay again.

Lovely house and grounds. Coffee on the rooftop watching the birds and wildlife is not to be missed. Andres made us feel so welcome, making numerous recommendations for activities and booking various tour arrangements, which were all great. Anna and Kassandra cooked us a delicious Costa Rican meal. We had a wonderful adventure!

Our stay at Casa Tropical was delightful! The house was perfect for our two families (8). My favorite spot was the rooftop deck where I spotted Scarlet Macaws, toucans, beautiful sunsets, and even a summer storm. The kids loved the pool, but what we loved most of all were our dinners from Ana and Kassandra. They prepared the best food we ate in Costa Rica. Andres did an excellent job of arranging our tours. The white water rafting trip was our favorite followed very closely by the tour of Manuel Antonio National Park. We had a wonderful vacation and if we find our way back to Costa Rica we would love to stay at Casa Tropical again.

We want to stay in Costa Rica in a house and experience the local flavor without staying in a fancy all-inclusive.
We loved the beauty of the house and nature and even had monkeys come up to the house in three different days.

We felt at home at Casa tropical with the best scenery. All accommodations that we needed were at our fingertips. If we needed groceries it was only a phone call away. The house had many charming qualities but the pool was the best. My 3 yo especially loved it and wanted to go in it everyday. By the pool you would get monkey, bird and iguana friends to visit. It was an adventure for sure. I would stay at Casa tropical again!

We so enjoyed our time at Casa Tropical! The house is immaculate and well taken care of. There are lots of cozy places to sit and enjoy the lovely grounds, full of a large variety of plants. The roof top area is terrific. You can see the ocean past the forest treeline one direction, and mountains the another. We spent every lovely morning there. We saw many birds (maccaws, tucans, etc.) And heard howler monkies. The pool is wonderful too. The house is not far from the main road, but I would want a car. The drive is easy once you do it a couple times. The area is very convenient to town and to Manuel Antonio and all the resteraunts, grocery stores, etc. We have been lucky enough to stay here before and hope to do so again! Andres was helpful setting up excusions and answering questions. Costa Rica and this house are favorites of mine. Dont hesitate to book!

We went to decide if we wanted to bring children and grand children for our next family vacation. The house and location were perfect. The property manager Andres arranged everything for us (tours, taxis, shuttle to and from airport), no vehicle was necessary. Andres is a hobby birder and called in many different birds to our patio. He took us out one evening to show us the red-eyed tree frogs. Our tour with Steve into Manuel Antonio was icing on the cake. We considered going without a guide and realized after 5 minutes in the park what a mistake that would have been! We found both types of sloth, holler and white faced monkeys plus reptiles galore. The house is exceptionally clean and peaceful. We spent most of our time on the roof top deck watching what Costa Rica would bring to us. We will definitely return!

Pictures are not enough to describe this beautiful property! We are a multi-generational family of 9 with 6 adults and 3 small children. There is plenty of room to spread out.The house, pool and grounds are impeccably kept. And the rooftop terrace make this superb location extra special. Also recommend having Ana and Kassandra prepare dinner. Andres is always nearby to answer questions. If driving, approach up the road to the house is a little tricky. Very easy after the first time. Hope to return!

Simply amazing place to stay. Breakfast on the rooftop while tropical birds (toucans, etc.) perch nearby. Pool was enticing—clean, beautiful, surrounded by gorgeous flowers. We spent lots of time in the pool!
We saw a monkey on the porch one morning. Nice furniture, great air conditioning and we’ll decorated inside. The host set up a few tours for us, which was very helpful. This place was such a delight to stay in, it was a highlight of our trip for us.
Only suggestion for improvement is that the directions to the house could’ve been described more clearly. It took us a couple wrong turns before we got there. But it was worth it!!

Our family of 5 with 3 teenagers loved our stay here! House was clean, with comfortable bedrooms and 3 nice bathrooms, and a bonus sink area between bedrooms. Kitchen was nice with ice and cold water from fridge (but like many tropical areas impossible to keep bugs away so seal up food tight). Property managers did tidy up one day while we were out which was very nice! The outdoor space here was the main attraction. We were visited by a troop of white faced capuchin monkeys and a troop of squirrel monkeys, so fun!! We saw scarlet macaws, hummingbirds, and too many other birds to list as well as many iguanas and lizards. The rooftop patio had amazing views with ocean in one direction and mountains in another. Many seating options all around the house to enjoy the views and the pool was beautiful and refreshing.
Location was great (although road to house a bit hard to find and have to navigate rough roads), it feels remote but still very close to town and attractions including Manuel Antonio National Park and the beautiful beaches.

Wonderful house for 10 people. Very private, lots of wildlife. AC works great in the bedrooms. The upper level is the star of the house. We saw macaws, toucans, monkeys, and lizards. The pool is great too. Eveyone loved it. The host is an excellent communicator and Andres the Host takes great care of you.

This house had everything we needed. Plenty of bedrooms for a family of six or more . A nice living rooms and sitting place inside. Lots of outdoor seating to view the amazing tropical property. Top floor 360 view open patio was definitely a morning and evening favorite spot. Property manager was helpful before and during the trip with absolute everything.

The property is gorgeous, Andres, Kassandra, Ana were wonderful people and hosts, Stephen a great and organized owner. The house was perfect for our family of 6 adults and 2 teenagers. We enjoyed the monkeys, pool, serene area, and especially our two dinners with those three! An experience to remember with joy!

We absolutely loved Casa Tropical. Everything was so well taken care of and spotless. Andres and Steve were great to work with and Kassandra and Anna were so sweet and kind. I highly recommend this property.

A true tropical paradise! So peaceful and beautiful! So enjoy the many birds, monkeys and iguanas on the property. Andres, Cassandra and Anna were very gracious to attend to our needs and the ladies cooked a delicious dinner our last night . Would definitely like to return in the future!

We were so lucky to find Casa Tropical. The house is tucked in the trees at the end of the road,
so, the wildlife is abundant. We got up every morning at 5 am to sit on the roof and watch Toucans, Macaws, Parrots, monkeys and birds too numerous to mention.
Anna and Andres were great host, arranging our transportation to and from the airport and anywhere we needed to be. Andres was available and answered any questions we had quickly. They made traveling by ourselves, without our spouses or family, feel safe and easy.
The house is clean and well provisioned. There is lots of room. The gardens and pool are lovely. The pictures do not do justice. The 360 view from the roof is amazing.
I would highly recommend doing tours with local guides. They see so much we would have missed, and they were so pleasant. Edgar with Jade tours spent 7 hours showing us birds I did not know existed. Cara and Leo welcomed us to their river property where we hiked, did yoga on a platform in the trees, and swam in a waterfall. We had a wonderful trip and the house was the best location to be in. Thanks, Steven, for sharing this gem.

Just a stunning house at the top of a hill with amazing views. Tricky little road to get to it but you are rewarded with the views and lack of city/traffic noise. Every morning we would wake to the sounds of howler monkeys and see countless birds, including parrots and scarlet macaws. Squirrel and Capuchin monkeys run right through the property. House is spotless and well equipped. AC in all the bedrooms for restful sleep and neat open but screened windows in the living room and kitchen. Pool was as warm as the air and the kids loved it. highlight of our trip. Our last day, we didn't even leave the house.

After weeks, I am still missing and pining for Casa Tropical. Its in my dreams and the memories are still percolating amongst all of us. Iguanas in the gutters, parrots in the trees, toucans visiting at breakfast and frogs on the table in a massive thunderstorm on the roof. The house and the people caring for it and its guests are impeccable. We will be back and I cant hardly wait. .

We loved our stay at Casa Tropical! Andres was good to communicate with and welcomed us when we arrived. The house was clean, comfortable and spacious. We enjoyed relaxing on the verandas and in the pool. The road up the hill was a bit rough, but manageable and it was only a short drive to Quepos and Manuel Antonio park. Would stay again for sure.

Our family loved Casa Tropical! The accommodations surpassed our expectations. We loved the animal visits - squirrel monkeys, scarlet macaws, toucans, and much more! We were ready to stay forever by the time our trip was over. We hope to return in the future!

Stunning place. Balconies everywhere including the fantastic roof top patio. Pool was perfect for our kids. House set up was perfect. Highly recommend.

What a beautiful home! The home was very clean with a wonderful kitchen! We meant to go to Manuel Antonio but after seeing all the wildlife surrounding us we decided to skip it. We saw white face and squirrel monkeys jumping through the trees for 2 days. My kids loved sitting on the top deck watching them. We say scarlet macaws, toucans, green parrots and many other birds. Iguanas in the trees and on the roof. We would leave to the beach but our kids always wanted to just hang at the house and swim in the pool. A great way to finish our trip to Costa Rica after traveling and touring other areas of the country. Thank you so much!

Fantastic place to stay. Beautiful home and gardens. Pool was lovely and rooftop patio in the morning was perfect for morning coffee and viewing birds. We saw scarlet macaws, green parrots and iguanas. Andres and Kassandra and Anna were all very nice and helpful. We could not have asked for anything more in a rental property. We followed their recommendation for a tour and used Henry who was also great!
