We enjoyed our stay with Enise. The location is beautiful and everything can be reached within minutes. Moreover, super close to the Capitol, Congress Library and Supreme Court, too.

The location was more than we were expecting. The host was very accommodationg,we look forward to returning.

My wife and I spent a long weekend at this pretty, little basement apartment. The location was ideal for a visit to the capitol - close to the mall and the waterfront. Enise, the owner was very helpful with restaurant and activity recommendations. We had an intermittent issue with the alarm but the owner was responsive working to get it fixed. We were also a little disappointed that there wasn't a hot tub or spa as described in the listing. All that said though, I would still strongly recommend this place and we're likely to return ourselves, as there is too much to see and do there in the short time we had.

The host, Enise, was very attentive and her apartment is clean and spacious. Would stay there again. Very close walk to Capitol Hill and located in a quiet neighborhood. Would recommend this property.

The living spaces, bathroom, kitchen spaces all very nice, truly. Modern, updated, nice decorating. Terrific neighborhood, streets are quaint and proximity to Eastern Market restaurants shops and Metro ideal. Owner was helpful and attentive as needs arose, like when the Internet went down a day and a half.
However, we felt the photos were not fully representative of what was available to us. The garden was strictly off limits despite six of the 20 photos--including the main profile photo--taken from within the garden space. That along with a review that spoke to their loving the garden space left us assuming we could access that area. No. Absolutely not according to the owner... says so in the property description. (She disagreed that the photos were misleading.) This revelation was hugely deflating as my wife spent a lot of time in the unit while I did business two of our four days. Before that we were tempted to look elsewhere at the time of reservation when discovering insurance protection for $89 was required (or incur an upfront $3,000 credit card charge that the owner had discretion to apply should damage be incurred.)
Look, if you simply want a very nice space to stay in a great location, with a second bed (murphy) and could care less about the garden, this one might be perfect for you. But not for us. Won't return.

The day before our arrival my husband died in an accident. I contacted the owner, telling them that we would not be using the home. I understood that on such short notice, the owner would not be able to rent out the space but I did ask for a refund of the cleaning fee, as no cleaning would be necessary. The owner denied my request which seemed extremely callous.
To submit my comments, I had to rate the stay so noted things to the best of my knowledge. Wish we could have used the lovely property.

We thoroughly enjoyed our home away from home on DC. What a lovely and relaxing apartment! Great location on a charming and quiet block, just a short walk from an interesting and diverse shopping area and convenient Metro stop. Great hostess too! Thanks again Enise. For your lovely home and hospitality!

Unreasonable and rude owner
Owner was extremely over bearing and picky. Listing said no shoes inside home- we take our shoes off in my home as well so this was not an issue, however while walking out the front door to get into our Uber, the owner knocked on the back door so I walked to answer thinking it was important. She then ranted about my shoes which I explained were indoor house shoes. We lost our Uber. - had to pay for it , because she then was upset that we had one light on while going out. Being in an unfamiliar place, I left on a small lamp to guide us in at night. She was very rude and demeaning then explaining to me how unclean I was to wear shoes and how I didn’t care that she paid the light bill. We found a camera in the main room we stayed in- which was very unnerving! The entire place is covered in dusty rugs to protect the floors. She repeatedly told us not to lock the back doors- which is where she visited - which was also odd. We were quiet and clean and left the place in perfect condition. She then tried to charge me $ extra $$ for the one time I answered the door with shoes on- house shoes. She charged a large cleaning fee, then left a note saying we had to clean before we left! If you want to be watched and treated like a child- then stay here!

Enjoyed our month here. The backyard space is gorgeous and a relaxing retreat. The location is great being super close to Eastern Market which makes for fun weekend shopping and great food. Check out the rotisserie chicken at the end of the market! It was delicious and made it easier to prepare dinner in the kitchenette.

It’s tough to travel right now but we needed to go to DC. We were apprehensive but as it turned out Delta was very accommodating and so was our host! The place was perfect for what we needed. Great location, clean, comfy etc. and great yard for social distancing. Some logistics needed to be worked out because we didn’t want anyone walking through the place and the access to the back is through the garage but we worked it out.
Looking forward to going back!

Great Capital Hill Find
The property is in a great location. Close to everything. Very close to Eastern Market and all the sites of DC. Enise is a great host. The apartment is clean, spacious and well appointed. We will definitely stay again!

Great experience overall. The property was extremely clean. It was very quiet for that area of DC. The basement apartment was well appointed and the backyard patio was gorgeous. Quick walk to Barracks Row restaurants and Eastern Market (& metro). The location was phenomenal. The owner is courteous and hospitable. She did all should could to make this a comfortable stay. She answered my questions quickly and went the extra mile to make it a memorable experience. My wife and I would definitely stay again.

Except for the dishwasher not working, we found everything to be very satisfactory.

Fantastic Stay
My wife and I stayed at this property and highly recommend it. The owner was helpful and very accommodating. Our flight was late in the evening and she was there to greet us and show the property. We had also a later departure flight and she let us delay checkout until later in the afternoon. The property is as described. It is located in a quiet neighborhood and is a short walk to restaurants, coffee houses, and shopping, including Trader Joe's. You can walk to most of the places you want to see, including the Capitol, Library of Congress, and numerous museums. We highly recommend this residence.

Great location and property
Great Capitol Hill location walking distance to the National Mall, restaurants and Trader Joe’s. Property was quiet, clean and well appointed, including everything needed for our morning coffee. Owner lives upstairs and was a great host checking in to see if we needed anything but was not intrusive. We were thrilled that she helped us keep our luggage secure after check out so that we could have a few more hours of sightseeing. We will recommend this location to our friends.
4.5
Convenient, perfect for 1-2 couples
Overall a very nice property. Enise met us on arrival and walked us through the property. It was conveniently located and we walked to the Capital building, restaurants, and the Metro station. The door was broken to the back patio so we were unable to go sit outside. Not a huge issue but it would have been nice to know before we arrived. Overall a good experience and we would definitely stay here again!

Comfortable accommodations in central DC
Owner helpful, accommodations neat and cozy. In a really nice area and within easy walking distance of metro and DC attractions. As pictured, the courtyard is a bonus and available for those who wish to enjoy the balmy evenings.

Nice place with some drawbacks
This is a spacious apartment located in a great neighborhood on Capitol Hill. The bedroom is located on the street side of the apartment while the living area faces a garden behind the house. The bathroom has a nice shower and the heated floor was nice since it was fairly cold in DC during this business trip. There are lots of places to eat within a short walking distance, two very comfy neighborhood taverns with a great selection of draft beer. As typical of the Capital Hill area it is a quiet neighborhood; one of the reasons I try to stay in this area.
As a business traveler there are a couple of things that cause me to give this place a lower rating. One had to do with the wifi connection. The only area in the apartment that provided a signal was an area along the wall of the bedroom nearest to the street. I was unable to obtain any signal on either my laptop or cell phone anywhere else in the apartment. I mentioned the wifi connection problem to the apartment owner and she seemed concerned but was unable to do anything about it.
There were lots of decorative items throughout the apartment - everywhere. Virtually every horizontal surface had some sort of vase, pot, nick knacks, etc. Some people like this, I could do with less. For example, I needed a place to work and the only place I could put my laptop was the coffee table in the living room. That was after I had to remove all of the decorative items that took up most of the space on the table.
Another issue concerned the ongoing construction outside in the patio. One of the reasons I selected this place was because of the beautiful patio area that I could enjoy after work. Unfortunately the owner was having her roof repaired and there were construction materials taking up much of the room in the garden and a large plastic sheet of covering the access and view of the garden. She did move the plastic sheet so I could view the garden from the living room but with the rainy weather I was unable to use the garden other than one evening. My point here is that I should have been advised in advance that the garden area would be essentially unusable due to construction. That would have likely caused me to look elsewhere when I was looking for a place to stay.
Overall this apartment would be just fine for travelers who had little need for a wifi connection and business travelers who do not need a work space.

West coast visitors
Brought my sixteen year old daughter out to DC to see everything and we ended up walking 40 miles in 4 days, learned and leaned on the Metro (about 2.5 flat blocks from the front door). Owner was able to pick us up from Reagan on the way in which was fantastic, and we used the Metro to get back to the airport on the return. (If you want to lean on the metro, use Reagan. The other regional airports will require you use cabs or busses.)
We packed very light and used the apartment for home base while we visited the national mall, zoo, local and downtown restaurants. After long days and aching feet from site-seeing we found returning to Capitol Hill and slouching on the couch was the perfect way to get ready for the next day.
We did not cook during the week, so cannot comment about that, but the beds are firm and comfortable and the outdoor space would have been wonderful to use if we'd had warmer weather at night. We loved living in a quiet neighborhood and not at a hotel.
Thanks for everything, E.

Wonderful property, felt like home! Beautifully kept space in sight of capital building. Easy access to metro, restaurants, eastern market, and much more. Wife is an avid runner and would run from property all the way to Lincoln memorial and back. Perfect for myself, wife and son to see everything we could in 3 days. The host is Very helpful and accomodating. Would definitely stay again.

Wonderful!
We loved our 10 days in D.C. Walked to most of the museums from the house. The house was clean and wonderful. Our host was warm and helpful. I would definitely recommend this rental!!!

Great place with a great host in a great location
I wholeheartedly recommend this rental as Enise seems to take it upon herself to make sure you have everything you need for a fun easy vacation. We had a car that she secured a parking pass for and she gave us spot-on dinner recommendations. The accommodations are certainly very nice with a kitchen area and 2 queen beds - it was perfect for us and our two kids. It's very well kept up and has a nice relaxing patio area in the back. At times we felt like we didn't deserve such a nice place :-)
4.5
Great location!
Easy access to restaurants, coffee, metro, groceries, museums and much more. We didn't move our car the whole trip! The space was perfect for our family of 3. We have a 2 year old who had his own room!
4.5
Great Location/Great Accomodations
We loved the apartment. It is adorable. Enise is very nice and responsive. The queen bed was extremely comfortable and my sons reported that the murphy bed was, too. The location cannot be beat. Walking distance to the Capitol, Supreme Court, museums on the mall, Eastern market, great restaurants and the metro. What's not to love? Importantly, we had a minivan. Enise secured a parking permit for us and we had no trouble parking our car within a block of the apartment.
4.5
charming capitol hill
This apartment was perfect for our family of 4, which includes 2 teenage sons. It is in a quiet, charming neighborhood and is very conveniently located within walking distance of Metro, the Mall, and many restaurants / shops. The apartment is exactly as presented with all needs provided for (dishes, linen, kitchen items and the like), and the layout gave ample room for our sons to have a separate hang-out space. Enise was very helpful in recommending great places to eat in the area, taxi service, etc. If you plan to have a car, street parking in the Capitol Hill area appears very limited. Fortunately, for our sightseeing throughout Wash DC, Arlington and Alexandria, the Metro and taxi were all that we needed.

Fantastic location!
Bright lower unit in a very quiet neighborhood.
Easy access to the Capitol, Eastern Market, public transportation, organic market, pharmacy, restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops. Loved walking through the neighborhood. We were 2 adults/2 kids and found the well-appointed space to be comfortable. Would not hesitate to stay here again.
