About this house rental
For those looking for a more private setting this property is perfect for a couple or small family. This cute classic 'naval' cottage, constructed for naval airmen stationed on the island during the second world war, is charming from the front yard to the original hardwood floors awaiting your steps inside.
Two cozy, quiet bedrooms perfect for a sound island's sleep, and two distinct living areas for those preferring to staying up. These areas include a main living room, comfortably furnished, splashing oceanic colors and island styles, and an additional living area with 2 recliners, large desk area and an additional TV. The perfect vacation 'workspace'
So, if you have to work while staying on the Island, you have an office space separate from others.
The master is comfortably furnished with a plush queen bed. The guest room has two newer twin beds. The bath has been totally updated with all tile and beaded board, and ample storage for all your bath linens and toiletries.
The large deck, overlooking the enormous, fenced-in backyard, provides a great spot for outdoor dining, enjoying morning coffee or lounging around with afternoon cocktails. Your furry pets will love the ability to run free! A charcoal grill is provided.
The quaint kitchen has dishwasher plus all the basic necessities. Gas Stove. Many upgrades in 2021. The eat-in dining nook provides comfortable seating for 4-6 with built in bench seats.
This is an ideal cottage for pets small and large.
Laundry room with full washer/dryer is located off the deck. All that is missing is the ocean. There is beach within a mile which is tide contingent meaning no beach at high tide. The better beaches are within 2 miles so you probably want to drive or take bikes. There are county restrictions about dogs on the beach so you want to be familiar with these. No dogs not on a leash between Memorial day and Labor Day.
As the owner I do my best to ensure home is comfortable and inviting. You will find a supply of many basic items such as soap, TP, paper towels, dish detergent and laundry detergent. You will have enough coffee for at least the first few nights. I live locally and am in the home before every guest.
Please note that all TV's are smart TV's so you have access to all your streaming services. I have Hulu Live set up to provide you with "live" TV. I do not provide traditional cable services.

I will start with, the property owner Mellette. She was AMAZING! Prior to our stay she communicated via VRBO and text. Answered all of my random or dumb questions efficiently.
We had an unexpected delay due to Hurricane/Tropical Storm Debby. Mellette went above and beyond in communication and current weather conditions of St. Simons Island, which allowed us to make the decision to delay arrival by one day. This was most helpful.
Now, about the property. I truly appreciated that our "big baby" (dog) could stay with us. It is not easy to find people that will allow a 90 lb. dog in their home. The cottage was very clean and up to my standards, which is high! The roomy, fenced back yard was a plus. Beautiful landscaping, front and back. Also, located in a great, quiet neiborhood.
I would definitely have to say, that when I re-visit St. Simons Island, I would for sure book this location, hands down.

Absolutely love this cottage. Every piece of furniture was comfortable. Home was clean and has the sweetest decorations with little vintage glass pieces to doggy art. Fenced in backyard was perfect and the sliding door was a wonderful looking glass for my dogs. I hope to stay here again next year. Best host I have dealt with in VRBO to date!

Hugh fenced backyard, great for pets, comfortable deck to relax on in the evenings. Would recommend everyone stay here. Just change picture on website of house to show it no longer has white picket fences yard.

Nice home. Back yard needs more grass and a lot less dirt for a pet-friendly rental. Our pups were filthy. A hot tub is listed in the description , but none to be found. The bath tub drain also will not hold water. But overall a nice VRBO rental.

The cottage was comfortable, quiet and a great place to call home base during our vacation on St. Simon’s Island. The kitchen had plenty of utensils and accessories to do our cooking and meal prep.

This house is wonderfully decorated and oh so comfortable. We felt very much at home, sofas, beds, chairs all comfortable, the tasteful art complemented the furnishings.
The kitchen is well equipped.
Our dogs enjoyed the fenced yard and we loved the location of the cottage which is in a very nice neighborhood to walk and close to the pier village. The host has done a great job of anticipating your needs.

Perfect location for two people and our dog, spent days on the beach and the back deck passing away time, house had all the required amenities including bbq and laundry.

The cottage was charming and located in a great neighborhood. It is in walking distance of the St Simons Pier and village.
Property manager was especially nice to work with. We needed a porch light and my husband texted her and she responded quickly.
Anyone who chooses to rent this cottage will be very pleased.

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It's nicely decorated and is exactly as shown on pictures. The fenced in backyard is a big bonus if you come with a pet, our dog loved exploring it. The location is very convenient, walk to the village and pier! We drove to the beach which is only few minutes with ample parking. The cottage is also within easy access to the main SSI road, so quick trips to sites like the Fort or Jekyll island are very easy to take.

Charming older cottage well suited for 2 or a small family. Pet friendly. Nicely decorated, everything we needed in the kitchen. Location near Pier Village ideal. Also easy to jump on Frederica Road for trips to north end. We enjoyed our week.

Mellette’s home was perfect for our visit to St. Simons. We had stayed in that neighborhood before, so we knew it was friendly and convenient to the rest of the island.
The house was extremely clean, well-furnished, well-equipped and very comfortable. The back yard was great for our dogs, the kitchen had everything we needed for cooking and we could walk to Pier Village and everything it has to offer in less than 20 minutes.
We will definitely keep this place on the list for our next visit to the area.

The house and location is exactly what we wanted. Easy drive to Savannah and Jacksonville and all St Simons Island and Jekyll Island has to offer. The house is perfect for any needs that you would have.

We've been coming to Saint Simons every year for close to 10 years now and we agreed that this place has been our favorite place we've stayed. This home is so charming with it's original hardwoods from the days that the WW2 airmen built the place. It has all the modern amenities we all love today though. TV in every room with live streaming, a full size washer and dryer, and a nice office area for those who need to get a little work done while away from home. The backyard is huge and fully enclosed which made it so easy with our pups. That was one reason we picked this place and it made all the difference. It was convenient for a nice mile walk to the village and close to that distance to the beach too. I went for a nice walk every morning and it was glorious. The neighborhood is mostly quiet and easy going. There's a little noise from jets taking off at the airport but it wasn't too noticable. We enjoyed the outdoor deck and our dogs loved all the nice landscaping with plenty of things to sniff and explore. The kitchen and living rooms were comfortable and fully furnished with everything we needed. We were a 4 minute drive from Winn Dixie and could easily swing by for staples like coffee and bottled water. One nice surprise is that there was a 5 gallon jug of purified water with a dispenser which was nice (call me a snob but I can't get used to the coastal sulfury water taste). The good water was an extra we hadn't expected! We plan to stay here again next year Lord willing!

This house and yard are perfect for people and dogs. The house was clean and equipped with everything needed for a vacation. I would highly recommend. The property manager was very responsive, as well. Will stay there again.

This house is a perfect gem. The fully fenced and very private back yard is excellent for those traveling with dogs. The location is very quiet with very friendly neighbors. There are a few other rentals on the street but most neighbors are local residents. Comfortable queen bedroom with good lighting, plenty of storage. Separate office was very convenient for working and staying away from noise. Kitchen is better stocked than most houses I've stayed in - even good knives and glass storage containers! House is close to grocery shopping and not far from the beach. Overall a great stay!

Well appointed cottage in nice neighborhood. Bike to Pier Village and parks. Short drive to various beach access points. Renting a golf cart is ideal but not necessary. Convenient to grocery store. Equipped with everything we needed for a month long stay with pets.

Mellette's place was absolutely perfect! Immediately upon entering the home, we were ready to move in. I loved the location. It was close to restaurants and the beach, so it was easy to get out and adventure. And, it's nestled back in a neighborhood that was quiet and relaxing. Our dogs LOVED the backyard, and we also enjoyed sitting on the patio. We would love to stay there again!

My husband and I and our two pups spent 5 weeks at Melette’s place and never wanted to leave. The house is so adorable and comfortable. Melette was great to work with. Very responsive and accommodating. We will be back!

I had to cut my stay here short unfortunately due to a personal matter back home but Mellette was compassionate, accommodating and understanding of my change in plans. The time I did spend at this wonderful home was restful, relaxing and comfortable. Mellette goes above and beyond in welcoming her home and provides many welcoming touches to enhance the experience. It was the perfect home away from home for my dogs and me for our short time there. I hope to return one day!

This was the easiest VRBO experience I've had! Mellette is very accommodating, friendly, and efficient. Our dog Toby loved the freedom of the fenced backyard and the freedom to RUN on the beach! Already planning to return.

This house was close to all dining and shoping. Within walking distance. The neighborhood was really nice. Alot of the homes have and are being remolded. The house was clean and had everything we needed. The fenced in back yard was great for our dogs.

The cottage was lovely and the pictures do not really convey how nice it is. We loved the convenient location to the village and being able to walk to dinner every evening. We biked all over the island and enjoyed coming back to the comfortable couches after busy days. The cottage has everything you will need and then some! The special touches like being greeted with fresh flowers and a welcome back with all the pertinent information made this a great stay. (Her book opens be saying the two things people usually want first...a grocery store and liquor store! PERFECT! We loved our stay and hope to be back again soon. I cannot recommend this host/location more highly.
