Great location
Great location
The home was in a great location. Place was clean and beds were comfortable. But Vacasa and the host lacked many of the small touches that would garner a 5-star review. The wifi was extremely weak, so much so that the tv had issues everyday with buffering. We called Vacasa at the national level about the poor wifi, could never find a local contact, and they said they would notify the local host. We checked out three days later and never from anyone.

Cozy and well-appointed
Cozy and well-appointed
This little apartment is cozy, well-appointed, cutely decorated, clean and comfy. Of course many of the Castine rentals are very old houses, but this one is cleaner than the ones we've rented here before. It has some new furniture, very comfortable beds, great linens and towels, and everything we could need in the little kitchen. There's a nice shower, good water pressure (also something not easy to find in Castine). Stocked with plenty of dishwashing liquid, paper towels, toilet paper, cleansers if you need them. There's a great shared washer and dryer if you need it. It's right downtown and close to everything. Good parking available. We were really pleased! Since few homes have any a/c it can get hot but they do have fans to help.

Main Street Castine
Main Street Castine
The 2 bedroom apt was in a great location on Main Street. It was well maintained and clean. Of course with everything in Castine, it is a historic house with the creaky staircases and sloping floors but they have done well with it and it looks like they are upgrading their other apts in the building.

Good apartment, great location
Good apartment, great location
We enjoyed staying right on Main St just a minute walk to the local shops and restaurants. We had trouble finding the reserved parking as have several other commenters, there was construction equipment in the spots behind the house and the unfilled spots were clearly designated for the neighbors with signs. We didn't have trouble finding street parking but it was not always right near the apartment. The house is also much older than the pictures imply, the floors are severely sloped and saggy in places. If we had been expecting an antique house it wouldn't have been so jarring but it took us by surprise. The bathroom and kitchen are both small but functional. The furniture was unfortunately small and uncomfortable so relaxing at night wasn't great. Beds were a little better but very soft mattress with very firm pillows so hard to get comfortable. If you're looking for a fairly barebones apartment, this one is affordable and in a great location but if you're looking for a relaxing place to stay I'd suggest looking at somewhere else.

Decent place in quiet pristine waterfront town
Decent place in quiet pristine waterfront town
Property was pretty much as advertised. However, we encountered the same exact issue a previous renter encountered that the property managers had said they dealt with. Namely, there are no outside trash receptacles to through dog poop bags. This required me to walk to waterfront to through bags in municipal trash cans. Not the biggest deal in the world but definitely a small inconvenience and one that was supposedly dealt with. Also, parking in lot behind house not very clear. I was actually asked to move once at night from a spot back there because another renter had already used the one available spot. There is no specified spot so no way to know it’s taken. Seems like there is plenty of room back there’s just needs to be organized better for efficiency.

This is the first time using VRBO. Very easy. I like the quaintness of the apartment in the antique home. Lots of windows and I could see the sea from the apartment. Comfortable bed and furnishings.

Quaint home in a lovely neighbor, but serious lack of communication with manager
Quaint home in a lovely neighbor, but serious lack of communication with manager
Loved the quaintness of this old home and its location in lovely Castine. We were able to walk just down Main St. for coffee and fresh breakfasts each morning and enjoyed the cute shops located nearby. The apartment was neat and clean, and nicely decorated. Unfortunately, the lack of communication with management was quite frustrating. When we arrived we were unable to locate the on-site parking as there was no signage. We noticed right away that few of the electrical outlets were usable or that the cords for lamps and fans weren't long enough to reach and that no extra extension cords were provided. Both beds were listed as queen size, but one was a full, and the house in general lacked the personal touches we have always found in a rental (no coffee for the coffee maker, tissues, salt/pepper, etc). Also, we brought our dog and there was no outdoor trash receptacle on sight (we embarrassingly ended up using the bins for the rental home next door) for his bags of poop. We reached out to the local manager who failed to contact us at all during our 4-night stay.

We really enjoyed our stay in Castine. The apartment was at such a great price we couldn’t turn it down. While the couch wasn’t great for lounging, we didn’t do too much of that anyways. Beds were very comfortable and the space was set up very nicely. All the amenities were in great condition. If we were to ever head to Maine again we stay here again.
