The location is excellent, but unless one wants a rather uncomfortable stay, I suggest other hotels.
Location was wonderful, room very large (especially considering the aforementioned location). There were no fewer than 3 beds in the room! It was quiet, except for the calming peal of bells from the nearby church every quarter-hour.
When staying at a hotel, one expects a certain level of customer service, consideration, and kindness. While the owners of this hotel add much personality to the experience, I did not feel welcome during my stay. The day before my arrival, I received an email regarding check-in time wherein I was instructed to call if I would arrive after 16.00 (although I had specified that I would be arriving around 19.00 when I reserved the room). If I did not do this, I would be charged 10 euros per hour that someone would have to stay after 16.00. I did not see this email until I finally arrived at the hotel, since I did not have data or email access while traveling for the 24 hours before arriving at the hotel. The hotel proprietor did kindly call me at 17.00 the day of our arrival, but implied that he might have given away our room (thankfully he did not) and admonished me for my lack of response to his email (which, again, I had not seen). My travel companions returned to the hotel after dinner while I worked more. I had given them the door code the proprietor had given me since they were staying at the same hotel. He saw them on the camera, drove to the hotel, and gave them an uncomfortable and unneeded lecture... until he realized that they had already checked in and were actually guests at his hotel. Due to the pandemic, breakfast is naturally different than usual. However, although we had listed our food preferences the night before, only a part of the food we had requested was available when we arrived for breakfast. More bread rolls were brought, but we did wonder why we had to list our food requests when they were not going to be honored initially? Finally, when paying (the hotel only accepts cash payments, which begs quite a few questions), the bill ended in 97 cents. The proprietor rounded this up to the next euro, without asking and without giving any other options. I have never before had such treatment and advise travelers to avoid this establishment.
