Disappointing stay.

The staff were super friendly and really helpful, big thanks to Megan and Helen.

Very tired and run down, bed really uncomfortable. Room really dark with hardly any natural light. Food very average. Will go back but once refurbished as planned.

Comfortable and just as I expected having been there before.

Lovely location, quiet and beautiful, delicious meals, staff very polite and friendly, room comfortable, facilities clean. Not too far to walk between room and restaurant

Hot tap was dripping in the bathroom. I had hoped for a walk in shower but none are available at this property.

Disintegrating headboards

We have given the hotel 5/10. The staff were amazing - friendly and helpful, couldn't do enough. The food in the restaurant was also excellent! Good value and perfectly cooked.

However, the room we stayed in (Room 14) is in such poor condition, it was so disappointing to walk into and just ruined the stay. It desperately needs updating - redecorating and new furnishings. The leather headboard had scratch marks and completely worn patches across it - with the leather completely missing (worn away) where your heads go. The leather was disintegrating and parts of it fell onto you as you slept. It was so uninviting and actually fairly disgusted. The wall paper was also peeling off through the room, but this seemed minor in comparison to the gross headboard. There were also water drip marks down the walls.

Great location, comfortable pleasant hotel

Lovely size rooms , comfortable bed . Friendly staff

Bathroom room 7 needs attention, marks on ceiling. Room laid for 3 guests, not laid tea tray for 3 . This was provided when asked . Only one bedside lamp which has a fault kepted going off . Bar staff although friendly service was very slow

Unakzeptabel

Ds Hotel liegt günstig zur Messe und hat eine gute Verkehrsanbindung.

Frühstück: Irgendwas war immer kalt. Bohnen, Pilze, Tomate. Kein Kaffee, kein Brot, keine Butter. Es fehlte die gesamte Übersicht des Personals. Dinner: 2 Stunden warten auf Fish & chips ist genauso unakzeptabel wie 35 Minuten auf das erste Bier. Der Service funktioniert nicht. Der Geschäftsführer raste durch die Bude um zu retten was zu retten war. Das gleiche Bild hat sich schon im November 2023 abgezeichnet.

Enjoyable short stay.

Exceptional breakfasts

We stayed Sat/Sun/Mon and were advised of breakfast timings which were for the next morning ie Sunday but member of staff did not inform us that they would be earlier for the Monday and we nearly missed the time slot! Having said that the chef accommodated our requests.

Clean room and the staff were good.

Poor ventilation with the current warm weather requires the room to have some air flow. The only air flow for the room was with a french door that was chained allowing only a 3 inch gap.

Fine - close to my meeting venue, clean room, good breakfast, friendly but very busy staff.

The room was a little dated but clean and comfortable. The food was good.

Understaffed - it was Fathers Day, so the restaurant was very busy and service very slow.

Very frustrating !!! but duty manager tried her best to get the issue resolved.

This was advertised as dog friendly hotel in search!!!!! , only to travel there after six hours in a hot car to find out that they don’t allow dogs in rooms !!!!!!, only in bar and grounds, after a lot of negotiation we were able to stay as I explained that the dog would be in a crate all the time. I was less than pleased, I would suggest that you remove this place from “ Dog friendly search’ when clearly dogs are not catered for.

Lovely stay, quiet location, sounds of birds and stream, great food

Lovely size Room, clean, spacious and quiet location overlooking the river. Had a meal here too, was lovely. Staff really friendly and helpful, especially the hotel receptionist. Thankyou x

poor and miscommunication on evening meal bookings

loaction and history was fine - building old obviously needs some tlc on decor in alot of places

staff where fine but made a mistake by telling us we did not need to book for meal in evening and then when we as residents for 4 days could not get a table as fully booked - when they told us dont bother booking ! - plus no resolution found just told us cant get you in ! ...when we know they had space in a few areas - and tables but not set - but they were busy to be honest We had evening meal on 2 nights and the chips were cold twice [ we did get one portion replaced ] -used miller aand carter few miles up road to resolve evening meal problem - we told them we were at a busy food trade show working and needed an evening meal each night booked the first two no problem - then when we asked about Monday Tuesday answer - you dont have to book as we are not that busy ...then when we were told no sorry fully booked - communication not good ...will not be using any chef and brewer in my future travels when booking rooms or meals

Friendly staff, excellent food, clean rooms.

Beautiful old building, full of character. The staff were excellent and really looked after us. Special thanks to Sariya our waitress, who looked after us and made our meal special. Also a huge thanks to the Chef, Scotty and his team. The food was excellent, really tasty with balanced flavors.

The property could do with a bit of TLC, and the rooms updating.

Second time staying, won't go back

The very few staff serving in the bar were very friendly even with queues. The restaurant staff were also really lovely even though they seemed rushed off there feet. The surroundings are lovely.

The room had one tiny window, that hardly opened, nowhere near as nice as last time we stayed, when we had floor to ceiling windows, wasn't given an option for rooms, so thought all rooms were the same. It was still dark even with all the lights on. We had to be let in by staff (when we could find someone) every time we went to our room as the electronic keys weren't working. The place is looking very shabby.
