It was all good

The Room was of a decent size to accommodate Family and dog. It was clean and well presented. The staff at reception was particularly helpful when granting me storing my high value bicycle in the room (against a guarantee deposit of course), ensuring I was in the best conditions possible for my race next day. Staff was welcoming and helpful and overall hotel presented very well for the price point.
Location wise, the hotel is right outside Tesco, which is very convenient, as well as a few yards away from the A34 making it easy to travel from/to.
The car park is not great. Abingdon not being a main city, most guests would travel by car. it was a surprise to learn -after booking- that the customer car park would be chargeable at an extra £10 per night. It is not common practice (car park is usually free of charge for guests at most competitors) and £10/night is very expensive. I would not make the comment if the charge was limited to £5, particularly as this carpark is so small that finding a spot could be a struggle. As such, I may not consider this option for any future stay of 2+ nights as it only adds up.
Then the breakfast offering could also be reviewed. It is fairly limited, in particular for guests who are after a more continental breakfast. The english breakfast is decent and should be sufficient for most.

Location
I received a £100 parking fine for parking in the hotel car park , even though they charged me £10 for parking , the receptionist didn’t tell me that I needed to enter my number plate into a separate system

Hotel was very fancy and clean, everything you would expect from a Hilton. They stocked Hawstone Lager and Cider from the local farm shop which was very nice and the bar staff were exceptionally good letting me taste everything before buying. I was looked after very well at dinner even with the dog.
The amount of money I paid was not worth it for the room I got and the morning breakfast service. £230 for the room + £20 for the dog + £10 for parking. The room was mediocre. I stayed at the Holiday Inn express the night before and that was the same if not better than the Hilton. They don't allow you to select you have a pet on Booking.com so when you inform them that you have a pet, they pretty much downgrade your room and stick you in the "pet friendly" rooms on the ground floor. When I came out for breakfast, I asked for a takeaway box as I don't like to eat first thing in the morning but eat on the go. When I asked for the box, it was like I had asked them to commit a crime. No Box. When I went to reception to ask for a refund of the breakfast (The Mercure had refunded me just a few days prior and I booked through booking.com) they told me I wasn't allowed a refund as I wasn't an honours member or hadn't booked directly through Hilton. I got told to put my fried breakfast in a paper bag as that was all I was getting. Not even an ounce of customer service to try and help me out considering I had just payed £260 for 1 night.

Free clothes washing facilities were a very pleasant surprise.
The gym was good.
Free proper coffee from the machine downstairs.
Excellent staff.
Very nice downstairs area with big screen for the footy.
Room was quite warm and stuffy.
Lifesize cut out of Jeremy Clarkson in the reception area put me off my dinner somewhat.
4.3
Awesome reception and clean hotel.
4.3
I was upgraded to a lovely which was a nice surprise. Room was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was also nice
Unfortunately it rained while I was there, and due to the wind and the design on the building, heavy rain drops kept dropping onto my room's metal windowsill which woke me up.
4.3
Very comfortable and well-appointed room - with the bonus of a fridge!!
Definitely a cut above its rivals.
4.3
4.3
Very friendly staff, facilities were good, restaurant was good but menu choice could have been better, all in all a comfortable stay, one issue I have is paying for car parking, I guess most hotels charge nowadays but it is just another case of guest’s getting ripped off especially when I am a member of Hilton Honours which should be free but because I booked through a third party (reception’s words), I had to pay £10 a night, again why should we get ripped off for parking on hotel property.
As above
4.3
bed was hard and uncomfortable , room not clean, bathroom needs a good scrub , all the staff apart from reception were polite
had to pay to park the car, liberty when they charge what they charge
4.3
Hotel was situated in central Abingdon, which was ideal for what we wanted to do.
Our little dog was well catered for with a bed, bowls and treats.
Our room was also on the ground floor which was more convenient with the dog.
Breakfast was excellent and lots to choose from.
We thought the breakfast might have been included but had to pay £12.50 per person extra.
4.3
Room was great, additional tea or coffee sachets and herbal tea would be great.
Attention to detail in the room - ensure alll lights are working. We had two light bulbs out.
Reception staff welcoming but some miscommunication with keeping room key. Who do reception for safe keeping. I wanted to leave it there whilst I visited family, but was told to take it with me.
4.3
Fit for purpose - nice cocktail bar
Charging £10 for parking the car in a hotel that’s a mile out of town with a large purpose built cp only utilized by hotel clients seems unecessary when one nights accommodation is already on the pricey side.
4.3
Staff were great, room was clean and spacious
Walls rattled whenever a fellow guest let their door close, pillows were a bit too bulky
4.3
Clean, quiet and have a bus stop outside. Retail park is opposite the hotel.
Safer in the room is not work.
4.3

4.3

4.3
Was immaculate
4.3
Room was really lovely and great to be downstairs when you have a dog. Loved the dog bed and bowls as well really thoughtful.
I wasn't aware that there would be an additional £9 charge for parking and when I booked on Booking.com it didn't say there would be an additional charge for the dog of £20.
4.3
Usual Hilton swag with great presentation throughout
There was an audible low buzz from my room and from the entire floor that I was on (registering 35-45 decibels) that was constant. This was a higher background noise than the motorway close by and continued through the evening and night. Found it completely annoying and couldn’t pinpoint what it was (air con system was my best guess).

Alles
Das Hotelpersonal ist äußerst freundlich und hilfsbereit, das Frühstück ist ausgezeichnet und das Zimmer ist sehr sauber. Ein ideales Hotel für Reisende, die die Umgebung von Oxford erkunden möchten.
4.3
Most of the services and staff were absolutely fine and would be happy to use the hotel again.
Not sure why we were allotted a disability room? While spacious, we did not lie the wet room bathroom, nor the very low and hard bed. Sorry.
4.3
Location good.
Very busy breakfast, had to wait for a seat. Also, when busy, food wasn't replaced quickly enough.
Having to pay £20 for two nights parking!
4.3
Location
Key didn’t work; breakfast not cheap but good quality
4.3
Location, cleanliness
Staff attitude (not disclosing cheaper rates, argumentative, rude, defensive and more)
4.3
No heating in room when 5 degrees outside
4.3
Very comfortable clean rooms with lots of space for relaxing, including a desk, coffee table and comfy chair. Bathroom had everything that was needed, and again was clean.
There's a spacious entrance to the hotel, and it has a nice vibe to it. a few people milling about, and a snack bar and some comfy chairs.
Parking included would have been better ( even if they just made the room £10 more per night) psychologically, its never nice to have to pay for an "add-on" when you get check in / out somewhere.
4.3
The hotel was very clean the staff were friendly. And the food was good
4.3
Breakfast
The hotel is wonderful and great. I have stayed here a few times. Unfortunately my AC was not working and contacted the receptionist on several occasions and she promised to sort but nothing was sorted and had to be given a small heater. I really suffered through the night
4.3
Staff were polite and friendly place is very clean.
Pillows were flat and quilt was thin. There was a party that was very loud in our room we could actually hear the lyrics. Unfortunately didn’t sleep well. We had 2 pints of Diet Coke which cost £4 each. Which is very expensive for soft drinks. When you can buy a can in the shop for £1 which we didn’t realise until after.
4.3
Good location for us visiting family
Only one pillow each and heating didn’t work
4.3
