Wonderful hotel in a beautiful setting with fantastic staff

What a great place! Perfect location on the lagoon near town. Friendly and helpful staff. Both the bedroom and the bathroom were quite large. Very comfortable bed.

Incredible and relaxing stay by the lake

Everything was perfect. The boat trip was a plus. We were given an upgrade and stayed in a huge bedroom I front of the lake. The staff and Sandy made all the efforts for us to have the best experience during our short stay.

Always a most enjoyable experience.

Hotel is superb but a little dated and in need of certain facility upgrades. We have enjoyed all our stays at the Hotel and will definitely recommend it.

Rooms need a bit of an upgrade. Starting to look well worn.

A great place for a romantic getaway

The warm welcome on arrival was continued during our 3 night stay. The staff are professional, friendly, welcoming and seem to be really happy to cater to one's needs. Lovely breakfasts beautifully prepared and presented. Fabulous room with a great view of the vlei. Large, comfortable bed. It was winter and the underfloor heating in the bathroom was a treat.

The noisy air conditioning units attached to both sides of our room. They rumbled and hummed continuously throughout our stay. What could have been a superlative, quiet visit was made noisy and the sound disturbed our sleep. The hotel was not at all full so we should have been allocated a quiet room. A pity.

Overall a really special stay in Knysna due to extra efforts of the team and location.

Everything was lovely and unexpected. A free upgrade for the room booked and extra efforts to ensure our experience was delightful ensured I will stay here again upon next visit to Knysna.

NA- the only drawback is SA's electricity problem which is an overall problem for the tourism industry and the investment after covid makes it difficult for any business to invest in alternative energy.

5 very restful days - great!

Breakfast was marvellous, great views over the lagoon and the evening "snacks" were a meal. Thanks for upgrading us to a room with a view but both rooms were great.

Honestly, nothing to improve on.

The perfect setting on the Knysna Lagoon. The breakfast was amazing. The views, the staff, the room was spotless and very well appointed . The complimentary boat ride was a very nice touch. Best place to stay in Knysna.

Beautiful property

It feels like paradise on earth, the staff is attentive and kind, the facilities are beyond beautiful and clean, it feels like our stay should have been longer.

WOW! True hotel experience, best in SA

Just WOW! We loved it right from the first moment. This hotel gave us a truly great experience of feeling like a proper hotel guest, Sandy and her staff did a great job with welcoming approach and taking care of you! It was our best hotel in South Africa out of 6 we stayed at. Firstly, they truly want to make your stay comfortable and memorable. Secondly, rooms are spacious, beds are comfy and view around is fantastic. Thirdly, breakfast was really good, a couple of a'la carte options and a nice buffet, not so boring as in other hotels. We didn't have time for a boat tour they organize for you but it looked great, as the lake is just in front of you. Thank you everyone for such a nice time in your hotel! We will visit again for sure and stay longer!

We loved absolutely everything. The only thing I didn't like was that we couldn't stay longer in this place!

Superb

Very comfortable hotel right on the lagoon, huge and well-maintained pool (without the usually annoying cleaning pipes which any other pool in SA seems to have). Super friendly and helpful staff. Best breakfast of our entire trip (3 weeks). Very beautiful and comfortable room, although we booked the cheapest category.

They could provide a bit more light during load-shedding for a 5*, the bathroom could do with a "facelift", was rather 3*, .the boat trip (included, free of charge, aven included drinks) could be made a bit more exciting, different route?

The right place to relax

The location is excellent, right on the shore of the lagoon, with a wonderful view . Beautiful and large rooms with a separate living room. Breakfast is good, but unfortunately a poor selection of bread (only toast). Special thanks to the staff, very kind and helpful

There is no possibility of dinner, only a couple of sandwiches/salads until 7:30 p.m. There should be a socket for charging the phone by the bed.

Loved every minute of the long weekend at The St James of Knysna and will definitely be back.

Breakfast was absolutely divine and the service during breakfast was amazing. The view of the lagoon whilst having breakfast is something to be cherished. Lounge and dining area & reception areas are well appointed, tastefully furnished and modern. The hotel went out of their way to make our 33rd wedding anniversary extra special - there were fresh flowers, a bottle of champagne and rose petals on the bed. This just made our whole weekend feel extra special. The view of the lagoon from our bedroom was amazing.

Everything was superb and fabulous, from the reception to the check out. There was nothing not to like. Loved it.

Amazing Service

The service was unlike any ever experienced. The staff made us feel truly special right from the personalised check-in process, the complimentary boat cruise and all the way through to check out. They should really be proud of the work they do and their establishment.

Fabulous location, great staff - waterside heaven!

A stunning boutique hotel on the edge of Knysna Lagoon with lovely friendly staff. breakfast was delicious and had a great variety. Our suite was beautiful and had everything we needed. We had a picnic on the private boat owned by the hotel - excellent!

The power outages (load shedding) impacted on our stay do note that they have no back up investors or generator.

A truly great place - I would proudly recommend to anyone!!

The staff were very friendly and helpful from the minute we walked in, every day we were there, until we left. A very beautiful place, right on the shores of the lagoon. The complimentary boat cruise topped our experience - really heart warming that such a great service is made available to guests at no additional costs.
