Hotels for rail journey in Switzerland

Excellent, efficient hotel. Polite and friendly staff. Great breakfasts. Very well placed for rail holiday. And close to St Gallen. But Bischofszell yielded unexpected interest. Notably the excellent local museum - open on Sunday afternoons, and local walks across meadows and rivers.

The hotel is on a busy road. Noise mitigation with double glazed windows was effective - and would be completely fine for majority of visitors. Those particularly sensitive to noise might want to request a room at back of hotel (not sure if these exist, but might be worth asking).

We stayed at the hotel for one night whilst visiting friends in Switzerland and enjoyed our time here very much

Second Stay - Would Love To Return

Having stayed at Le Lion 18 months ago, I was pleased to see that it maintains its high standards. My room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Although the hotel faces a road with heavy commercial traffic, the rooms are well-insulated against traffic noise. The breakfast buffet is excellent.

Warm welcome at the reception. Charming old building with refurbished rooms, which maintained the building's atmosphere. Excellent breakfast, and due to the nice weather we took the opportunity to have it in the small courtyard. There was air condition in the room, which we hadn't expected but which was quite comfortable given the warm weather and the situation of the room on the top floor below the roof,

The springs of the double bed tend to let one partner directly feel any movement of the other.

Excellent base from which to explore a lovely part of the cantons of Thurgau and St Gallen

The hotel is a three-minute walk from the Bischofzell Stadt train station, and directly across from the Bogen Turm and the lovely Altstadt. Although it is on a busy street with considerable commercial traffic heading to and from the town's industrial zone, the hotel's soundproofing is excellent. We loved the way the building has been restored, while ensuring that bathrooms and other conveniences are state-of-the-art. Excellent breakfast buffet. We would gladly return.

Exceptional

We (family of 3) were biking route 5 and this hotel was one of the highlights of our trip. Beautifully decorated building, A/C :), clean and bright room, and the staff was so attentive and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and healthy, they even had vegan options! (the only one in our trip). We hope to visit again!
