my earlier review stated that the proprietor was horrible and refused to let us stay. He unjustly said he saw us earlier in town, untrue, and turned us away even though we booked and paid for the room. horrible experience

Wonderful, relaxing place; wish we could've stayed longer

A beautiful building with an interesting history. Nicely located right on the coastline, and a short, easy 5min walk to the restaurants. Our room had a palatial bathroom and access to a charming patio area. Very nice and knowledgeable owners.

Room was lovely, just loud because old building.

Unique old hotel

Very easy to hear guests in neighbouring room. And an outdoor light came on and off on the roof and our room had a skylight window in the ceiling and I was awakened again and again from a light coming on and off from above which I had no influence over.

A Wonderful stay at The Old Oak Boutique Hotel

The warm welcome from the Owners Jennifer and Justin - the history of the hotel and the original features - the layout of our little suite of rooms and the balcony overlooking the water, ideal for an early evening drink - the location of the hotel in relation to Mangonui Village - and the picnic our hosts prepared for us for our day exploring Cape Reinga.

Pleasant 1 night stay in an old building with interesting history

Pretty old building with lovely gardens Big bathroom Comfortable bed Small shared outdoor patio. Fridge with milk. Coopers beach down the road was beautiful. Good recommendations from friendly owners

Unlucky with a loud snorer next door with poor sound proofing that comes with an older property

Perfect :)

It’s a beautiful old boutique property with tastefully decorated, comfortable rooms. All rooms have an outdoor sitting area. Jen and Justin are so helpful and welcoming. They pay attention to the detail to make your stay here the best it can be.

Everything was perfect! I highly recommend and look forward to returning.

Loved the location, the historic nature of the place and the verandah outside our room with a garden and waterfront aspect. Lovely decor.

Clean fresh crisp sheets on the bed. Really. Very cute, very convenient and great hosts with lots of friendly info on the area. The host even provided us with a cool bin to keep our food and drink fresh for our trip to Cape Reinga. Genuinely good.

Great hotel in a interesting location with great staff.

Nice location and an interesting story regarding the building and location. Local eateries provided a good selection and were reasonably priced.

Room ergonomics could be improved, but it is an old building and that is some of the charm.
