Sona is a great host, her guest house is very clean always, food is great - homemade real Indian food. Sona is even giving the cooking classes and that's for a reason ) Sona is also well connected to some very good your guides and generally knows and understands Varanasi very well because she is from Varanasi.

A home stay that actually feels like a welcoming home.

The family made me feel at home. Sona was very helpful with suggestions for getting around, where to go and what to do, etc. She makes a great cup of masala chai and has a very nice food offering as well. the a/c unit in my room was very quiet which was really a treat! I very good value for the money. I would stay here again without hesitation.

climbing stairs is in for me, but two to three flights up might be a bit much for some folks.

Varanasi gem

Sona is a very informative host. Lots of info, always there for questions. Spices and boat trips.

Nothing, not to like. Room was a bit small, but for the price and location all good. When looking at boat trips, make sure you know what you are getting, so not to be disappointed.

A real Indian homestay experience

Our family had a wonderful stay at Azure Family Paying Guest House. Sopna was such a great hostess. She was so helpful in organising a walking tour (with her brother who is a registered tour guide), an evening boat trip and our transport from the train station and to the airport. We also did a cooking class with Sopna, which was a highlight of our stay. The food she prepared for us everyday was a real treat. The guest house is located on the South side of Varanasi and is well placed to get to Assi Ghat (5 minutes walk) and from there you can access the other ghats. The Hanuman Temple is also within walking distance.

The electricity supply was a bit intermittent, but this seems to be a problem all over India.

Our stay was beautiful here, Sona made us feel like home immediately with her open and welcoming manner. The location is very nice with just minute from the ganga. There is also a cozy rooftop terrace. The food is homemade with love by Sona and very delicious.

Sona hospitality was exceptional! A very warm and kind person. The room was very comfortable and well maintained. I stayed there for 3 weeks and felt like at home. Will definitely come back on my next visit in Varanasi. Thanks you!

On my next trip to Varanasi i will definitely stay at Sona's place again

Sona is an awesome host. She is the true gem of this property: warm hearted, hospitable, knowledgeable. Room and bathroom are extremely clean, which is still not so common in India. Location is perfect - just 5min walk to Assi Ghat. Price wise it is a real deal. Minus point is only one: room is a bit small. But in case one is intending to only sleep in the room, it is good enough

Home away from home

Beautiful guesthouse. Sona gave me a worm welcome and explained points of interests. The room is on the smaller side and probably doesn't fit well two people with lots of luggage but it's perfect. Everything works as expected, the AC can run on a low speed and very quiet, the bed is firm and comfortable. Love the playful bedsheets. Very clean too. I saw her husband cleaning stairs. Finally a man that helps her wife. A rare sight in India. The meals I had were delicious, everything homemade. Sona takes pride in making her own spice blends. They arranged an airport for me two times. I also took a cooking class with Sona and it was fun. I learned a few things about Indian cuisine.

Sona is an incredible woman, mother, who takes care of you so that you feel comfortable and discover Varanasi at its best. Her children are adorable, we feel like at home. The room is quiet, soothing, comfortable. It is a good base to discover this incredible city. her food is amazing too.

Great family home

Sona and her family were very welcoming and helpful, we felt at home straight away. The room was simple and sufficient for our needs, comfortable hard bed and good water pressure in the shower. My husband was very ill on the first night of our stay and the next day and Sona was kind enough to get some medicines required and to make appropriate food he needed, also moving us to an air conditioned room. Location was good, not too far from anything. Sonas food and masala chai were delicious, she also organised our ride to the airport which was very helpful.We would highly recommend staying this guest house for those travelling on a budget and looking for a simple and homey place to stay.

Like at home

Staying here is like being at home. This family is really great. They care about you but aren't invasive. They help you with everything you need and ask all your questions. The mother cooks really well and everyday we enjoyed breakfast. She cooks it in the moment you wake up and there are a few options. We even took the cooking class with her and I really enjoyed it. Wi-Fi was working, big beds, super clean, really hot water... What else could I ask for? And the location is good because it's 5m walk from assi gath so you have everything you need but in a quiet place. I booked for 3 nights and I stayed more than a week so... You can imagine. If I go back to Varanasi for sure I will stay with them.
