Location and rooms were awesome. Beautiful resort. We booked two rooms. Garden view villa I would not book again as it was far from beach and our other room along the beach. Felt like the other room was very far away from everything. Other than that we enjoyed our stay.
Booked a beach front villa that said it had a Queen bed and a single/ futon. When we arrived at our room it only had a queen bed so we squeezed on the queen bed with our 9 year old son.

This is our 2nd visit to Saletoga Sands Resort & Spa. Our 1st stay was 7 years ago. The staff at Saletoga were amazing, worked hard always with a smile, our bungalow is as I remembered clean, comfortable and with an amazing view. Even if my bungalow was behind, the view was still a okay. My girls enjoyed the variety of sport equipment offered, the pool, pool bar was a highlight & the atmosphere had a good vibe. Fia fia night was amazing! Watching the sunrise at Saletoga is a must :)
I had no issues.... a great stay we will be back :)

Beautiful resort in a stunning location with an excellent range of facilitites. Beaches were gorgeous, and there was plenty to do there. The pool was great, including the swim-up bar. You could swim straight off to the beach and see fish and a little bit of coral, and it was warm and relaxing.
The bed was super comfortable, meaning that plus the aircon meant we slept super well.
Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and generous. Always happy to help.
The food was OK. A good range and themed nights at one of the restaurants, but I would have loved more fresh food options, especially salads.

Really enjoyed our beach front bungalow, and lovely grounds. So glad we upgraded. Kids looved outdoor shower (we did too!). Great being able to borrow snorkels etc for day trips. Good supply of kayaks. Fresh water stations were super handy. They had a mexican night when we were there which we enjoyed. There are daily tours which look fun. We had our own car so went on our own adventures. Great location. Some amazing places to visit and magnificent beaches nearby.
A bit busy but it was school holidays so no avoiding that. Service was okish but probably not amazing because they were at full capacity. At check in they said someone would help with our bags etc. A girl walked us to our room and then disappeared and never came back again and no-one helped with our bags. Again probably just because they were so busy. There is no internet in the room but luckily it was easy and very cheap to top up the data on my mobile in town. The tv's don't work but they have dvds. Sadly there were no kids movies left but again I am guessing it was just because the place was at full capacity (and there are so many other wonderful things to do!). Thankfully we had toys, colouring in etc and downloaded movies on our devices for the very few times we needed it.

The facilities and grounds were immaculate. Every morning a small army of people were out cleaning and tidying things, even raking the sand! The breakfast buffet was amazing with a wide range from traditional cooked breakfast to tropical fruit. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The staff were always available and extremely helpful.
Nothing. Everything was exactly as expected/advertised.

Staff were so amazing and so helpful.
Loved the location, beautiful pics early morning and peaceful.
Beach swim is beautiful, dont forget your beach shoes.
Food is so yummy - Tuna oka and sashimi was my favourite.
Singing from the local young girls were amazing during dinner.
Beach facing villa was worth it.
The 30min massage was amazing
Our first room - pillows were uncomfortable and the recommended AC temp was still too warm for us... But when we changed to the beach villa it was much more comfortable.

Clean Rooms with plenty of space, comfortable beds and air-condition. Breakfast was included in the stay an my personal favorite of the day, it had a good selection including some Samoan food choices . Lunch we only has ones (Cheese wedges)very good. Dinner was ok with 2 restaurants to choose from 1 Themed every day the other is a La Carte + a specials board that changes every day. Gardens are very well kept and groomed everyday. Beach is perfect for snorkeling at high tide. Pool is clean with a swim up bar. Staff are very attentive and bring drinks/food to your deckchair. Treat yourself to a Spa Treatment booking ahead is recommended.
If you have a TV in the room, you should be able to watch at least one channel. Even the News in Samoan would have been o.k. Don't charge people for DVD hire at $30 tala a pop for old movies they have already seen. If it's a rainy /stormy day, there is not much to do but read a book. Free Wi-Fi only in the hotel lobby for 2 hours.

The staff were lovely, the owners interested in guests. The location gorgeous and there was much pride in the resort surrounds.
We did have to request refills for coffee and milk, this really wasn’t an issue.

Plenty of choice at the breakfast each day. They where accomadating with dietary requirements.
The staff are super lovely. Nota was amazing the whole trip, whether she was on the pool bar the sunset bar or serving in the restaurant. Good vibes and good service.
I think they should of had a larger supply of pool towels in rotation to reduce wait times.

The pool and swim-up bar are amazing. It was raining one of the evenings we stayed and it was epic having a swim at the same time! The staff are very accommodating and professional. The place is meticulously maintained and the menu for the main restaurant is really good. The breakfast is pretty good and there is quite a bit of choice. The loungers along the beach are awesome and make it easy to enjoy swimming and relaxing. The place was fully booked when we were there but it didn’t feel crowded at all. The beachfront villas are incredible, as are the outdoor showers. The fiafia night was really enjoyable and we ended up having quite a laugh. There are six cats around the resort and they are super cute. Lots of dvd options since there is no tv channels in the rooms but there is plenty to do at the resort and its really close to lots of the good tourist sites (including the lava fields and the To Sua trench which are within 10-25 mins away). The landing bar and the sports bar are great places to hang out during happy hour. The spa and massages were awesome! Very talented staff and relaxing.
The king rooms / hotel rooms look quite nice but there are little bugs in the bathrooms at night time that made it a bit unpleasant for those of our group in those rooms. Also those beds weren’t very comfortable and the aircon was problematic. Lots of noise/activity in the hotel area as well so it’s probably more suited for kids than adults/couples. Even though there is a kids pool, parents seem to bring them into the main pool which makes it loud sometimes and some young kids weren’t very hygienic (but when raised with the staff that was dealt with).

Beautiful rooms, great Al a carte meals, great staff (mostly), the slides into the ocean was a fave for our 2 boys, they spent alot of time on them. Great snorkeling with great variety.
Family friendly, with great new additions of the trampoline, childrens playground & pool.
snorkeling gear could do with an upgrade. Not all reception staff were very welcoming. Quite often they took awhile to acknowledge us and were not so helpful.
Slow service at meal times, often items where forgotten or wrong drinks made.

The whole resort was great. We will be back
Our table outside disappeared on day 5 and never returned. We expected it was used in the restaurant, but we have alternatives

Great service. We enjoyed the food & facilities. Beds a little too soft for my preference but great, clean & spacious rooms. Overall awesome place. We didn’t want to leave.
Washer not working

We had a family pool side villa which was lovely. I liked how they put the family's together as then all the kids make friends and play. There is so much to do even in rain. The fiafia night was amazing, staff do so well. Plenty of choice at breakfast.

The bed was nice and comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast. Room was spacious.
The TV didn't have any channels, it was only for DVD. Our aircon wasn't working well (blowing warm air) during our entire stay although we had maintenance come in to fix it (twice). Luckily there was a fan but because we paid a lot for the room we expected to have an aircon. The shower also didn't have a curtain.

The place is perfect for families! Lots of activities, the pool is awesome, hotel right at the beach front!!

The resort has a good snorkelling beach and good food.
Unfortunately we did not have a good experience from this resort. The main reason was due an experience we had in our room. We had closed the louvred window but someone had cut through the bottom of outside wire net and were then able to open the louvre. When I noticed them looking in at us I tried to chase them but they ran off as soon as I yelled at them. The resort manager (while they were sympathetic and the next day fixed the wire netting outside) we did not feel that they did much to help us feel more secure. We also lost 2 swimming shorts during our stay, someone took them.
Money exchange.
We thought we were smart by bringing nz cash to exchange in Samoa. At the airport we got a fair exchange the going rate was $1.71 tala to $1 nzd and the airport gave us $1.63 which we thought was ok. When we got to the resort they had a sign saying they exchanged money at $1.62 to every $1 nzd so we thought if we needed more later we could just do it at the resort. The day came when we needed some cash (we have been to Apia by this stage and had had the opportunity to exchange at the banks for a similar rate to the airport but thought the resort was ok) however when we took our money to reception to exchange it they took the cash (without any other conditions being mentioned) into the back room and came out with the money minus an extra 10%. When I asked were the extra money was they just said that’s the exchange fee. It wasn’t written anywhere or told to us until we had exchanged already and if we hadn’t needed the cash that day we would have exchanged it back.
Airport transfers:
We had a group of 11 of us and we’re charged $75 tala or $43 NZD each to all go in one van from t airport to the resort 75 km. So that’s $825 tala or $473 nzd to get to the hotel. They also pre charged us the same to get back to the airport. So for one van with 11 people to get to the resort and back to the airport it cost $1650 tala or $946 nzd, is this a good price or a fair one?

The snorkeling is great, and the water is beautiful.
The food was not very good and was very overpriced. They needed more staff to provide service during the day. It could take an hour for a basic drink or food order. There’s no phones, TV, or wifi in the rooms, which would be fine if we weren’t paying so much.

We had a wonderful stay - bright large and clean rooms, a beautiful big pool with a sea view and delicious and varied food at the restaurants. Also breakfast was amazing, full cooked spread! Would highly recommend!
4.0 / 5.0
Lovely Spa massage, nice pool area, great beach & activities like kayaking, snorkelling; nice restaurant layout & decor; spacious clean rooms. Lovely gardens and layout in a beautiful location. Restaurant, spa, cleaning & grounds staff are polite & friendly. Cold filtered water refill stations are a great idea.
Alot of local produce not available in restaurant eg fresh drinking coconuts, oka or raw fish, banana fritters. Need more welcoming, friendly and engaging reception staff. Nicer music in pool area needed & availability or open times of pool bar is sporadic. No phone or iron in room on arrival (iron was brought in after requested which was good) No bedside lamp.
