Beautifully restored historic hotel with huge character

Loved the “old world feeling” of this totally renovated hotel, still keeping the ambience of an old historic building. Free car parking. The house keeper was delightful helping with luggage to our room. Bar and dining room downstairs fantastic, food great, dinner gave us the best waitress of our holiday, breakfast amazing, Love to come back!

Only one small thing, - no lift - but it is an historic building. Steep stairs at back of hotel, but staff will help if you ask.

The atmosphere was lovely. We enjoyed the charm of the place. The lounge upstairs was really useful and nice to use. Parking was great. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was fantastic. It was great to have the restaurant downstairs.

The ants in our bedroom (no.4) - there were a lot of them. My cauliflower small plate at dinner could have been nicer - it had some powdered seasoning on it that over powered it and the cauliflower could have been roasted better.

Right in the centre of Wanganui with free parking. Very comfortable, clean, well appointed rooms with lovely decor

very poor water pressure and took ages to get hot in the shower. some street noise but expected for the location. no lift which is advertised and ok if you don’t have lots of luggage

Lovely place to stay.

We had one night in this gorgeous old pub and wished it could have been longer. Our room was beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The manager and staff were terrific and made us feel very welcome. The continental breakfast was a very nice touch. Exceptional.

Beautiful accommodation in a perfect location

The Rutland Arms is a beautifully renovated spacious room that has a lovely ambiance fitting to the style of the great pub downstairs. The bed is so comfortable with quality linen. The bathroom is also spacious and very well equipped. The location is perfect. Right at the beginning of this lovely village and steps to the riverside walk. The staff are all friendly and the food is amazing…

We only wished we stayed an extra night as it was so good.

Location is excellent - service team were great.

Room was a bit small. Breakfast was supposed to be included but this was just a continental breakfast - we paid additional for a full breakfast. This was mis-advertised !!!

Comfortable handy heritage hotel

Central location allowed us to walk to restaurants and shops. Spacious room in older building. High coved ceilings. Period furniture. All facilities. Good TV with SkyTV. Characterful bar restaurant. Friendly capable staff. Free parking.

Carrying luggage up stairs. Not a major issue but an offer of help would have have added to overall enjoyment of our stay.

Delightful place to stay to explore Wanganui over a few days

Charming building, lovely spacious rooms and great staff. Location was central and excellent for walking. Was given a bigger room as lock on first room broken. Really appreciate the upgrade. Thankyou.

Tricky without a lift or assistance with heavy luggage but recognise this is part of the deal with accommodation in an old hotel.

We had a more than pleasent stay. The rooms are great and the breakfest very delicious. All the stuff was very friendly and toughfull. There is a restaurant in the same building and the main street from Whanganui is right in front of the Inn.

Nice spacious room, lovely furniture, comfortable bed and pillows, warm welcome and really helpful breakfast server. Surprisingly quiet and very welcoming

Breakfast isn't continental it's a hot or cold drink,.cereal and toast with yogurt on the side, i think eggs would be nice especially for the price but apart from that we would still return

Reception. No-one available, went to the bar as directed by a sign, had to wait while staff attended to waiting and bar duties, when finally someone became available I was told curtly that checkin was three oclock. Not very welcoming after arriving on a flight and wanting to drop my bag off.
