Not a 5 star experience - needs investment in the property and the staff

The breakfast was fine. The most positive thing about the hotel was that it looked impressive from the outside at night (and photographed well).

Check-in was terrible - there was no check-in desk, and it seemed a very cumbersome process for the staff - it took too long. Also, it always leaves a bad taste in my mouth when the room charge is required to be paid upfront. No proper 5-star hotel does this. Generally, the hotel looked a bit tired, and the staff, though friendly, were certainly not well trained and experienced at the level expected for a hotel charging this much in this location. The room was quite hideous - way too large. The bathroom size was ridiculous. And the design just lacked any attention to detail. You could fit an army in the shower space, but the shower fitting was quite small, and the shelf for the shower gel, etc., was miles away from the shower. There was one main switch for all the lights, including the bathroom, so if you wanted to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, you'd wake up the other person. The room had an echo-y sound due to no floor coverings. The TV was too small. The courtyard space was dismal. All in all, NOT a room you'd want to spend any time in. I'm glad we were only booked for one night, but it was a waste of money. We could have stayed somewhere much cheaper for the same quality based on my previous experience of staying in Colombo.

Excellent Boutique Hotel

1) The service was excellent 2) The staff were very professional and helpful 3) The room was very spacious and clean 4) Loved the fruit and coffee pod machine in the room 5) The breakfast and in room dining food were excellent 6) there are great restaurants just across the street 7) the lemongrass and Ginger tea was so refreshing

Just a suggestion, to consider replacing the paving around the pool, and the courtyard off the room, with Victorian style black and white paving. It would elevate the area into a feature.

lovely comfortable stay enormous room excellent show best passionfruit daiquiri I have ever had nice big supermarket near - Aprico or something? - hard to find in SL cook food market/restaurant area on the street

courtyard area could be cleaner - prevent pigeons and crows from bathing in the sides of the pool please breakfast really didn’t work for me - we were presented with a menu which had prices on and no guidance on how to order? did we pay? did we order one thing? do we order one of each? i then asked for croissant and bagel but both were enormous so I generated wasted. i assumed they would be small. Breakfast set up needs some work. food was good though

Little jewel in the middle of the city

Little jewel in the middle of the city. Beautiful elegant and cosy property with amazing decor and ambiance. Huge confirmable rooms beautifully furnished and decorated, nice swimming pool and restaurant area. Very relaxing and chic... Great breakfast and most importantly helpful staff... Exceptional experience that we all loved...

If you are traveling as a family, Uga Residences is a perfect fit and a very comfortable stay.

We were traveling as a family (2 adults and 2 children) and the staff at Uga Residence went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Especially given that our son (7 yrs) was feeling unwell, they accommodated our request for a late checkout, also organized the RT-PCR tests and all our transport requirements with minimum fuss. They also have a nice swimming pool and an awesome breakfast. A special shoutout to Gaveena and Sithija who were both excellent and understand what good customer service looks like. Thank you.

Disappointed

Uga residence themselves are a charming little place to stay with a real europe vibe about them. We had the suite which was lovely inside.

We treated ourselves to a one night stay in this lovely place so were barely there, as we were also out and about looking at attractions. However, time we were in our room was always plagued by some problem. We had 3 fuses blow on 3 seperste occaions. We returned later in the evening and the AC did not work. We has to call someone to fix this at midnight as it was still 28 degrees even at night. Then the internet went down and we could not watch the television or connect on our phones. Given we had a limited amount of time in this gorgeous suite, we could not even enjoy it as there were always problems. Also I tried to enquire about booking a private tour of Colombo and never recieved a reply or help with this. We also booked a car to take us out in the evening for 8pm, the hotel had called a booked a table for us. However again the car we asker to be arranged was not, we were then late and our table had been given away. For such a lovely place and the amount we paid, I expected better service.

Great location and nice, boutique vibe

Horrible, horrible upkeep, over 30 mosquitos in our room all night inspite of telling the staff that there were several when we checked in. The linen was stained and dirty, really not a comfortable stay and not what we expected

Room was large, bathroom was massive! All very clean, with attentive and friendly staff, particularly in the restaurant. Pool was a great way of finishing the day. An oasis of calm in an otherwise fairly hectic city!

Bathrobes a little on the small side, room cleaning at 08:50 a little early.

Fantastic hotel. We definitely recommend it.

Beautiful hotel with an excellent customer service and a brilliant swimming pool that is open from 7am - 9pm. The hotel has an opulent feel, and everything is tastefully decorated. Our room was absolutely huge: it was twice the size of an average one bedroom apartment in London. The bathroom is also spacious, with his & her sinks. The restaurant is absolutely exceptional, even if measuring to London standards. The price is very reasonable, in fact we would have paid more for

Wish we stayed longer and had the chance to try more dishes from the restaurant.

lovely oasis of calm to retreat in the heart of Colombo

gorgeous building, the rooms were large, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. the courtyard dining was relaxed and an oasis of calm.

everything was great food service was a little slow but not a problem. would be nice if they had a clear luggage storage room if you need it. seemed they did but we had to insist they didn’t just leave our bags outside.

Excellent

The location was excellent near to the park and temple. The breakfast was amazing the thought given to presentation. The rooms were huge. All the staff were lovely. Glad we stayed here and wild recommend it. Lovely areas to sit outside and inside. Great book library.

Great choice of breakfast which is prepared individually so don't be in a rush if you want to enjoy the great food all served by attentive staff, on the peaceful verandah.
