Nice independent hotel, but a bit tired and dated

The property was clean and tidy and the staff were friendly and helpful. Free WiFi and on site parking were good and it was handy that there was a bar/restaurant there too. Breakfast was cooked to order and was tasty.

Due to the properties age we experienced some issues with noise. Inside our room you could hear the floorboards creaking and water running from other rooms and the corridor. It also got very hot inside our room on the first floor and we had to open the window quite wide which let more noise in. Also the curtains let quite a lot of streetlight in from a gap along the top. Some areas felt a little dated and in need of freshening up, such as peeling paint in the bathroom.

Functional accommodation with good service and excellent breakfast.

The breakfast was excellent, cooked to order with good quality local produce used. Decent sized and I would be very happy to go back just have it again.

The room was okay without being special but it wasn't advertised as being luxury or boutique so pretty much what we were expecting. The sash window was rattling in the wind (it was very windy) but we sorted that out by wedging something into the gap.

Enjoyable stay

Very clean spacious airy family bedroom. I found my bed very comfy. Lovely breakfast in the morning

No negatives. It would have been nice if there had been a lift to get our luggage to the bedroom but you can't expect it in a pub hotel.

We were lucky enough to have warm, sunny weather and had a great time on the Isle of Wight.

Excellent food, with exceptional dinner meals, notably “catch of the day” fish. Well presented beer and wine, with sunny garden terrace on which to drink! Friendly, helpful staff.

A relaxing stay in a lovely village pub.

Lovely pub with an excellent menu and well-prepared food. Breakfast was especially good.

Homely and welcoming hotel

Everything about our stay was excellent from check in to check out. We enjoyed sitting and having a drink in the bar before going out for an evening meal. The little touches in the room were lovely. The staff were friendly and approachable. Breakfast was lovely before going out for the day. The location allowed for us to walk out for an evening meal into the center of the village and then for a morning walk before checking out.

There was absolutely nothing to dislike about the hotel and our stay.

Staff are very nice. Food served in breakfast and in their restaurant were of very good quality.

The flush in the room was bit difficult to use. A bit more fresh look of the room would have been better.

we had a brilliant time. Weather was great and the whole experience was beautiful.

The property is in an excellent location within drivable distance to the beach and other towns. The interior is very lovely with the big wooden stairs . Very comfortable room with all amenities

A bit tatty...😳 Empty or dead flower boxes at front, what could be a lovely back garden for residents is largely untended., and at the entrance the 4 star AA sign is filthy....for goodness sake, give it a wipe!

Didn't enjoy our stay here

The outdated room, outdated furniture, cracked walls, toilet not flushing properly,mould on the window seals,cold room overall, noisy floors and beds,rusty sinkhole.,stains on the carpet and bathroom,no phone in the room,no chairs in the room,a very small TV (probably 22"), the windows had not safety on them (should not open that wide -danger of accidents) Breakfast was just okay, except for the French toast which is actually some toasted brioche bread instead of the classical "French toast"(my daughter didn't enjoy that) We've been shown to a room with only one double bed first and than changed to a family room as we've paid and requested?! It's probably the worst 4 Star hotel I've stayed ever.

Cosy accomodating boutique stay

Birdham was a great location, room was comfortable, a good size and had a lovely bath and shower. We had dinner downstairs which was booked for us. Staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast had a very varied menu a mixture of continental and cooked items.

When the place was busy service was slow due to amount of staff and staff having to cover bar as well as checking in's. Parking was a bit restricted on a busy Saturday night. Luckily we left our car there and walked to other restaurants or when you needed to go out.

Spacious room with proper bath tub and good coffee machine. Friendly staff. Excellent restaurant food.

No fruit salad at breakfast on second morning. Annoying music at breakfast.

Very good

Staff were very helpful . I would not consider the room we had to be a 'superior' king-size room, (we had enough room to walk around the outside of our bed.) However, it is a beautiful old building and the hotel rooms seem to be in the process of refurbishment. Our room was above the bar area, but it did not affect our sleep. Good tea/coffee making facilities with added biscuits & sweets. Breakfast was very nice - with a good range of choice on the menu. The location was ideal for us. Bembridge is a pretty little village.

There was a very strong smell of paint in the upper floor room, where the room opposite was being upgraded. We were moved very quickly with no fuss made when we pointed this out. The room we were moved to was not of the same standard, and initially, we had a problem with the heating, which was quickly sorted. I have recently had a hip replacement, so climbing into a high bath to shower was not ideal. That said, the shower was lovely, the water hot, and the towels were a great size and comfort.
